GREEN DAYS 2012
Days to think about the things
we can all do to be Greener
What does it
mean to be green?

“Being green means
that we live our lives in
a way which looks

“Together we have made our
school greener and that has
helped to make Britain a
greener place too.”
This week our Green
Council will be running
workshops for Blackpool’s
First Sustainability
Conference which we are
holding at Palatine High
School.
We have over 210 delegates
from 32 primary schools
attending.
We also have 25
environmental organisation
supporting the event.
Your work over the next two
days will support our
conference.
What we would like you to do on
  these Green Days!

• we would like you to design A4 posters, how we can be greener - one on each of the
following themes. – Energy, water, waste, conservation, travel & transport, litter and
school grounds.
•Choose an animal species which is endangered. Explore why the animal is endangered eg
habitat destruction. Discuss solutions. Whose responsibility is it to protect species. It
would be good to have some art work and written work to go on display in school around
this topic. Why not begin with different conservation organisations.
•Discuss as a class- how small steps / changes to behaviours / routines can lead to big
differences and improvements in the environment. As a class and as individuals
children to make pledges – to change a behaviour at home which will make them greener
eg recycle all paper, recycle all plastic bottles etc – this can be done in different ways
– a) asking classes to be creative and build their own pledge out of recycled materials (
collage), b) by use of green footsteps c) short video pledges, and d) a wall wisher on the
Blog (which will be active on 18th June.)
YOU HAVE ALL DONATED £1 FOR GREEN
DAYS THIS YEAR.
THIS MONEY WILL BE USED TO ADOPT:-
Orang-utans and support the Orangutan rehabilitation centre ,
           supported by Orangutan Appeal UK.
To finish our Green Day
assembly the choir would like
              to
     sing one final song.
 Together we can change the
             world
Thank you for listening
Please enjoy the next two
          days.
Think about how you can
change the world for the
         better!
