3. Different Types of Splicers
Cement Splicers
In order to put film together, cement splicers use film cement which is made from
film base dissolved into a solvent.
Tape Splicers
Thin and transparent tape can be used on most types of film which is used to join
two pieces together.
4. Ultrasonic Splicers
Ultrasonic signals are used to melt the film together. They are often used on
microfilm as it is less likely to break down over time whereas a tape splice is more
likely to.
Thermal Paper Splicers
A plastic coated tab is used to make the splice; the plastic melts into the film once
the tab is heated. They are used to join films into large walls.
