probe was inserted to track the temperature of the water.
• Heat, moves
from hot cold
• Gain heat, lose
heat a) What happens to the reading on the electronic probe?
• . The reading on the probe decreases.
b) Explain why the change in (a) takes place.
This is because heat moves from an area that is hotter in the
water to an area that is cooler in the ice. The boiling water
looses heat to the ice and its temperature falls.
