Process > Product Process is greater than product. Think about it. Good ingredients = good food. It’s a simple concept, yet simple is never that easy. Processes require time and energy. Upfront, it can be more painful, but the yield is almost always more bountiful (to continue the food metaphor). Why, why? Generally speaking, my design process is the summation of a series of “whys?" "Why does my client exist?" "Why does that matter?" "Why does their audience care?" "Why are they coming to me?" All of these "whys?," and more, lead to the Big Idea, the ultimate “why?” – the core identity, common dna, shared narrative, ubiquitous throughout a business or organization. The Big Idea answers, “Why red and not blue?” “Why color instead of black and white?” “Why this tweet and not that?” “Why advertise here, but not there?” The list of “whys?" could fill a book… Design with Depth Process is the summation of “whys?” "Whys?" lead to discovery. Discovery fuels design with depth. Design with depth transcends fads of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Design with depth moves you, your client and their audiences to action. Process starts and ends with "why?"
