CHAPTER 5/6 Tom goes on two journeys to the new land. (Virginia) Tom did not know how the people of this land would treat him and he conquered his fear of the Native Americans, and he went to the new land . Tom gets cancer in his nose. Tom continues his journey even though it put him through much pain. CHAPTER 8 Tom’s friend, Walter Raleigh goes to prison and Tom stays his friend even Though he could be prosecuted for being Walter’s contact. Tom sails into the natives land not knowing what they will do to his crew, what weapons they have or what langue they speak. Tom asked questions about sea travel to sailors he saw on the dock. Tom was nervous and had to concur that to ask.
3. THE LIFE OF TOM HARIET ( CONT. ) CHAPTER 10 Tom risks his eyesight to study the sun for people even though he might go blind. CHAPTER 11 Tom publishes A science paper. If people considered This as dangerous or weird, Tom could be persecuted or killed.
4. KNOWLEDGEABLE The way Tom Harriet shows knowledge is bye knowing many different subjects like math, science, navigation, languages, theology and astronomy.
5. DETERMINED The way Tom Harriet is determined is by writing the Articon. He took notes FOR YEARS on navigation just so he could make work easier for seamen. Tom would sometimes stop on one of his projects to start another, but he would always go back and finish it.
6. TRUSTWORTHY The way Tom is trustworthy is shown in this passage: “The forty shillings were given to Sheller from time to time by friends who visited Tom. Since there were no banks for small savings accounts, Master Harriet was asked to keep the money safely for Sheller. Harriet was scrupulously honest and remembered this small dept even on his deathbed. No wonder Ralegh trusted him with larger amounts.”
