1. 5 Fertility Resolutions For 2020
Making the decision to start a family is a happy and exciting time for most couples,
especially when the path to parenthood is an easy one. But for others, building a family
can be fraught with countless obstacles and disappointments. This is the case for the 1
in 8 who will struggle with infertility during their lifetimes.
For those who struggle to conceive, there is some good news: with a few lifestyle
changes and some inside knowledge on improving conception odds and fertility
treatments (if necessary), these couples can increase their chances of being able to
build the family of their dreams. Here, the fertility experts of CRE Dallas Fertility Center
in Dallas, Texas share five fertility resolutions that can help improve your overall well-
being and improve your chances of success.
1. Take Vitamins Regularly
Vitamins like Zinc, Folic Acid and Vitamin B6 can be crucial to the health of your
reproductive system which can aide in pregnancy, helping women increase the chance
that their babies will develop normally. And it’s not just women who should be
supplementing their diet with extra vitamins – some may also help with male fertility as
well. For a full list of vitamins, you need to conceive, click HERE.
2. Get To Know Your Body
Are you timing intercourse correctly? Many couples who struggle to achieve a
pregnancy aren’t timing intercourse correctly, decreasing their chances of success. Try
tracking your cycle so you know when you’re most likely to be fertile, or use an ovulation
predictor kit to help you pinpoint the days when you’re most likely to conceive.
2. 3. Drop Unhealthy Habits
There are a variety of unhealthy habits that can decrease your chances of conceiving.
Consuming processed foods, excessive amounts of caffeine, and alcohol consumption
can all make it more difficult for you to conceive. Another unhealthy habit to drop?
Smoking! Smoking and nicotine products can both negatively impact your fertility, so if
you haven’t quit yet, 2020 should be the year you do.
4. Practice Stress Management
Infertility is not caused by stress, but it certainly does cause stress! If you find that
infertility related stress is taking over your life, try stress management techniques such
as meditation, exercise, and journaling to help keep your stress in check on your fertility
journey.
5. Achieve a Healthy Weight
Being either overweight or underweight has been shown to negatively affect a woman’s
fertility by causing periods to become irregular or stop altogether. This can make it more
difficult to determine when (or if) you’re ovulating and decrease the chances that you
are timing your intercourse correctly. Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight
decreases the likelihood that your periods will be irregular and can increase your
chances of success!
