PROCESS ENGINEER / OPERATIONS IMPROVEMENT
Accomplished Process Engineer with 15 year track record of success in improving manufacturing
operations. Demonstrates strong understanding manufacturing processes and consistently delivers
results in cost reduction, reliability and quality improvement. Engineering background encompasses
both systems development and manufacturing process improvement within diversified industry settings.
Ability to solve complex problems utilizing advanced technology solutions. Superior analystical skills
and broadly educated with BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Engineering Management Specific
expertise in:
Kepner Tregoe Problem New Manufacturing Trained/experienced in
Solving Methods Technologies ISO9001,14000
Environmental Compliance Lean Manufacturing Project Management

SELECT ACHIEVEMENTS
Process / Continuous improvement
Improved OEE of underperforming production equipment by 60% by identifying optimal
combination of coatings, machinery changes, and process changes.
Qualified all raw materials used in process to deliver product that met or exceeded all industry
standards.
Granted two patents that related to product capability and quality improvement resulting in
$10MM additional revenue.
Led project to design, deliver, and install real time process data acquisition system. Personally
performed the following functions:
Wrote software in Visual Basic that automated the acquisition of this data
Fabricated simulator for offline testing and development of hardware/software
Wrote the backend SQL database and all required queries to analyze the data
Made the data available via a web based system to all stakeholders
Process Engineering
Instituted the use of various Non-Destructive Testing techniques in analyzing corrosion damage in
a chemical plant. Identified a better alloy and justified the need to replace key production
equipment.
Performed vibration analysis on rotating equipment that increased reliability of operations by
predicting imminent failure.
Managed the development of a unique process to determine the degree of cure for a UV Curable
coating.
Solved difficult production issues by:
Working closely with production staff
Using Kepner- Trego analysis
Using Root Cause analysis
Identified cause for a coating application problem, designed hardware fix, and implemented the
solution. The OEM sought my approval to patent my solution.
2. William J. Miller Page Two
Wrote a series of "GTECH-Tips" that addressed specific problems that were encountered and
solved. Usually about two pages with text and illustrations, these were distributed to
manufacturing personnel as a training aid and as a way of "keeping the problem solved".
Utilized vibration analysis that solved quality problem resulting in a line speed increase from 400
FPM to 850 FPM.
Project Management
As a consultant led a $4MM chemical plant expansion project including:
Project Scheduling
Reporting to customer/stakeholders
Management of Pipefitters, Welders, Electricians, and Riggers
Key member of a team that constructed and started up $50MM printing and packaging operation
for instant lottery. To date this is the largest, fastest, and most advanced press in the world.
Developed a complete end to end software system that reduced per game software costs from
over $15K to less than $2K. Based on then current rates, annualized savings of $1.3MM were
realized.
