1. Evaluation Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you
have learned in the progression from it to the full production?
2. InDesign
Before starting this project, I had never used InDesign
before but now I feel confident to use as I have learned
new skills such as setting up a page to have a number of
columns and to set a bleed and margin. I am confident at
manipulation text to make it do thing such as go around
an object or go along a path. I have learned how to
place/import text and images and feel that I would now be
able to do other design briefs if I was given one using
InDesign.
3. Photoshop
When I started the project, I already knew a lot about
Photoshop so felt confident when manipulating images
and designing my front cover, but, saying this, I did learn
some new skills such as how to change the image size to
300dpi for use on my magazine. I now feel very confident
using Photoshop and would find it very easy if I had to do
the task again.
4. Blogger
I have used Blogger to show my work during the project, I
have never used it before but found it very helpful as I
could submit work from anywhere at any time and in any
way I wanted, for example, I now know how to embed
files from websites such as Slideshare and Scribd. I
learned how to set up a blog and set up labels to go with it
but I did find it confusing the first time I set it up as finding
certain pages to help set up the blog were hard to find.
5. Prezi
I am not a fan of Prezi, this is because I find it very
frustrating putting the file together as some of the controls
are not very responsive, but I do like the way it presets my
work but would not use it if given the choice to use a
different website.
7. Flat plan
I know what a flat plan is and how to create one through
doing one during my project, although they are good at
helping you lay out a magazine, they can often be
forgotten about and designs can change whilst
constructing the magazine, I like the idea but found that I
didn’t use mine as much as I thought I would as my
design kept changing as my magazine developed.
