Questions for X-Men: First Class-
1) Can a mutant that does not look human, still be human? How
does this fit into Freud’s notion of the Uncanny. If you looked
like Mystique, would you conceal your natural blue form into a
human disguise, or take your chances as is?
2) Can normal human beings treat as equal mutants that no
longer look human? What would people do if they saw
Mystique in her blue form walking around a grocery store?
3) In your opinion, would Sebastian Shaw’s plan have worked?
What might happen to mutants that disagreed with his decision
to wipe out humanity in a nuclear holocaust?
4) What does Question #3 have to do the Nazi Holocaust
visualized at the beginning of the film? After Magneto kills
Sebastian Shaw, do you still think he intends to carry out his
extermination of the human race? What then did he learn from
his internment in Poland?
5) If you could have a mutant power outlined in the film, which
one would it be and why? If you were a mutant do you still
think that you would side with the human race, or might you
agree with Sabastian Shaw?
6) Which mutant power outlined in the film would you not want
to have and why? If you had this power, would you still side
with the human race, or might you agree with Sebastian Shaw?
