Compact: DIY Management looks at the roles and responsibilities of a manager, the qualities required to make a good one and how artists can perform the role themselves. DIY doesn't mean do it alone, so we will look at building a team around the artist and when external help such as lawyers, booking agents and PR should be brought in.
Guest speaker will be Whiskas, who alongside being a succesful artist in Forward Russia and Honour Before Glory has worked as a promoter, manager, producer and record label boss (Dance to the Radio). His views on independent sustainability in the music industry, has led him to be invited to speak at numerous events and is now a permanent Lecturer in Music at Leeds Metropolitan University
Currently, through his new IMGNTN consultancy for grassroots music, he's involved in curating Live At Leeds' The Unconference and setting up the new Leeds Music Hub project.
