5. Introduction
Menu
The A to Z Gymnastics is an exciting new resource that is available for coaches and teachers. It has been developed
alongside the PE & School Sport scheme, the activities have been designed to consolidate and further skills already
learnt in the curriculum. The A to Z Gymnastics will help coaches, teachers and others to provide a well structured
progressive programme for the teaching and coaching for children across four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and
Platinum, All of which show the development of a number of skills. The A to Z can be used as a starting point for all
gymnasts, and will enable them to progress, through learning and perfecting basic skills and understanding.
It can be integrated throughout all disciplines of gymnastics and therefore can be used by all organisations in Wales
such as Schools, Leisure Centres and is perfect for Gymnastics Clubs. It has been designed so that it can be
challenging for the children allowing them to gain a great feeling of success when they pass each level.
Alongside leisure centre and club gymnastic activity, the A to Z is ideal for extra curricular activity within schools and
forms an integral part of the Network Approach to developing gymnastics in Schools. Further information on the Network
Approach can be found on this website.
