In the Chronology from John 1-2, the “three days” John1:29, 35, 43, alltake place
AFTER Christ’s temptation (Matthew 4, Luke 4). This is apparentfromLuke 4:1,14,

Cana was also the home of Jesus’ disciple Nathanael (John 21:2).

2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee 5miles north of

2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They
have no wine.
2:4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman,what have I to do with thee? mine hour is
not yet come.
2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoeverhe saith unto you, do
it.
2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the

2:7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled
them up to the brim.
2:8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of
the feast. And they bare [it].
2:9 When the ruler of the feasthad tasted the water that was made wine,
and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;)
the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good
wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: [but] thou
hast kept the good wine until now.
2:11 This beginning ofmiracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and
manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
The first time the Biblical “Mary” appears in the Gospelof John, shemakes a
statement that refutes the basis of the Roman Catholic dogma (John2:5
Whatsoever he saith unto you, DO IT).
Some try to makeJesus comment “woman” a meaning of respect. Wouldn’t
“mother” be more respectfulthan woman? He uses the sameword to address a
woman that is an adulterous woman John 4:21
Luke 11
27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the
company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that
bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 28 But he said, Yea rather,
blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
John 2
17 And his disciples rememberedthat it was written, The zeal of thine
house hath eaten me up.

8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's
children. 9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the
reproaches of them that reproachedthee are fallen upon me.

stood without, desiringto speak with him. 47 Then one said unto him,
Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiringto speak with
thee. 48 But he answeredand said unto him that told him, Who is my
mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand
toward his disciples,and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
John 2:4 Mine hour is not yet come
He is talking about supplying the wedding guests (Matthew 22:2-3,9) with His blood.
He buys His own bride with blood (Acts 20:28, Eph 5:25-27)
 The first public miracle in the Old Testament is Moses turning waterto blood
 The first New Testament miracle is Christ turning waterto wine (type of
blood- Deut 32:14, Num. 6:3-4, Gen. 3:17)
 On the cross it is water and blood that leaves Jesus body. John declares this is
a SIGN (John. 19:34-36, 1Cor. 1:22)
 Since Water is the first natural birth (John. 3:5) and Christ got His blood from
His Father (Acts 20:28) this “blood and water” (1John 5:8) point out Christ’s
two natures when He was here.
“Wine”
The Devils wine is connected with grapes of wrath and bitter gall (Deut. 32:32-33)
Our Rock is connected with New Wine (Isa 65:8)
John. 2:6 “six waterpots of stone… containing two or three firkins”
A firkin is approximately 9 gallons. We end up with 72 to 162 gallons of “wine”; if it
had been fermented it could have gotten an entire army drunk.
