5. Matthew 26: 17 – 19
17 Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened
Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him,
“Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the
Passover?”
18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man,
and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at
hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with
My disciples.”’”
19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them;
and they prepared the Passover.

6. The Central Question for Easter
The Disciples’ Question:
‘Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat
the Passover?’
Our Question:
‘Lord, how can I prepare myself for You?’

7. THE PASSOVER REQUIRES A HOME
VERSE 18
Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If
anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him
and dine with him, and he with Me”

8. THE PASSOVER REQUIRES OBEDIENCE
VERSE 19
John 14:23-24 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves
Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We
will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not
love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear
is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.”

9. THE PASSOVER REQUIRES HONESTY
VERSES 20-22
Matthew 26:16 ‘So from that time he sought opportunity to
betray Him.’
Matthew 26:22 ‘Lord, is it I?’

10. THE PASSOVER REQUIRES ‘THE BREAD’
VERSE 26
John 6:35 “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never
hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
1. The bread of the poor (Exodus 12:39)
2. The bread of affliction (Deuteronomy 16:3)
a. Teaches humility
b. Enhances the appreciation of freedom

11. THE PASSOVER REQUIRES ‘THE BLOOD’
VERSES 27-29
Hebrews 9:14 “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through
the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your
conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
1. The requirement for death
2. Must be applied to the entrance of the home (the heart)
3. Invokes a response of the part of God
4. Results in a promise – “I will pass over you”

12. The Central Question for Easter
‘Lord, how can I prepare myself for
You?’
 Lord, I open my heart to You.
 Lord, I pledge to obey Your Word and
Your Will for my life.
 Lord, I will walk humbly before You.
 Lord, I am needy – Fill me with Your
life.
 Lord, cleanse me, renew me, and
restore me.
