Ex. She is going to draw the dinosaur.
Going to for intention
We use “going to” when we have the intention to do
something before we speak.
We have already made a decision before speaking.
Examples:
Jack is going to draw the dinosaur.
Ben and Lisa are going to look at the fossils.
We are going to see the blue whale in Gallery23.
 Going to for prediction
We often use “going to” to make a prediction about
the future. Our prediction is based on present evidence.
We are saying what we think will happen.
Examples:
 There is going to be a terrible accident!
 He is going to be a brilliant politician.
 I am going to have terrible indigestion.
Conversation
 Mr. White : Jack, what are you going to do?
 Jack : I’m going to draw the dinosaur.
 Mr. White :That’s a good idea. And what about you, Ben?
 Ben : I’m going to look at the fossils. Gallery 31,
‘Fossils from Britain’.
 Lisa : Mr. White’s an old fossil.
 Sadie : Be quite, Lisa! He can hear you.
 Mr. White : And Sadie and Lisa, what are you going to do?
Place to go
 Lisa : We’re going to see the blue whale in Gallery 23.
 Sadie : Lisa’s going to take some photos.
 Mr. White : That’s nice. Well, I’m going to visit Gallery 11.
Listen, everyone! Let’s meet here at one
o’ clock. OK?
 Class : Yes, Mr. White.
 Lisa : Gallery 11. What’s he going to look at, Sadie?
 Sadie : Let’s see. Gallery 11. Here it is. Oh! It’s the
Waterhouse Café.
Activity 2

Direction: Make a group of three people. Choose
your favorite gallery by using the conversation as a

 Situation: You and your friends are supposed to be a group of traveller at the
museum. It is very big and there’re many galleries in the museum. You and
your friends are standing at the entrance of the museum, and sharing which
part you are going to.
 Example
 Jack: Hey Jo and Jan!!
 Jo: Hi Jack, Where are you going?
 Jack: I am going to the museum.
 Jack: And about you, Jan?
 Jan: I am going to look at the draw dinosaur in Gallery 4.
 Jack: Jan and Jo, what are you going to do?
Jack: ………………………………………………………
Jo: …………………………………………………………..
Directions:

disagree with it.
Put a cross near the edge of the circle, if you agree
with it.
Put a cross half way along the line, if you undecided.
3. Discuss with your partner.
