• Botanical name -
Ficus religiosa
• Family -
Moraceae
• English name –
Scared fig
• In hindu religion it have religious importence.
• This is symbol tree of buddhas.

4. SYNONYMS
• Chalpatra(Due to fluttering of leaves and
branches)
• Bodhidru (Due to lord buddha)
• Pipal (due to many leaves )

6. MORPHOLOGY
•Large tree

7. •Stem bark – white grey , cracked

8. •Leaves – thin shine cardiac in shape at base with a
long petiole and an elongated pointed tip at apex

9. Fruit – small , round , axillary and in pair.
unripe fruit – green & appear in summer
Ripe fruit – blackish & ripen in rain

12. USEFUL PART & DOSE

whole plant
root , bark , ksheer , fruit , leaves
• Dosage—
Decoction - 50-100ml
Powder - 3 to 5 g

13. THEREPEUTIC USES
• The milky latex obtained from bark , root and
fruit of plant is given in a dose of 5 to 6 drops
given with honey and ghee to treat
importancy and help in concieving in female.
• The decoction of bark and root is use to treat
joint pain and swelling , diabaties , and urinary
tract infections.
• The decoction is also used for gout.
• The decoction is also use to treat mouth ulcers
and gingivitis.
