Teams from NTU, Singapore, will be visiting Chennai for a recruitment trip (pre-app briefing session) for PhD and graduate (MSc Engg) admissions. Free registration/ walk-in. The sessions will be held from 10:30am - 4:00pm; on Feb 16 in Chennai. See the attachment from Times of India - Education Times (Feb 1, p.37). Note that GATE or GRE is required. (TOEFL may be an additional requirement, not sure.) Visit the webpages mentioned in the attachment for further details. These pages are of School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Students looking for admission in other disciplines, may have to visit NTU websites. A professor with NTU Singapore adds: Prospective students will be briefed about the opportunities and participate in interactive sessions afterwards. The deadlines for admissions would be soon afterwards so the session will be a great help for serious applicants. PhD in NTU is now very attractive with scholarship of S$2000 until confirmation (1 S$ = Rs 34), and S$2500 after the confirmation with opportunities to have teaching/instructing experience in the 3rd year. The entry requirements for scholars are, however, quite stringent. MSc Engg. (1 year) has no scholarship but lowered admission requirements. Students with lower academic credentials take it as an opportunity to come to Singapore for study and upscale their grades for either admission to PhD here or, good job prospects back home in highly specialized areas.
