Sub.: Summer 2010-11 semester - Course Registration

A Summer 2010-11 Semester will be offered to students of all Programmes of the University as per
the Academic Calendar cited above.
1. Students will be permitted to register first time / fresh courses.
2. Re-registration into a course is also permitted.
3. A student can request (wish list) for a maximum of 5 courses to be offered during Summer
semester. However, each student will be permitted to register for a maximum of 3 courses only.
4. Only courses having 5 or more student requests will be floated for Summer Course Registration.
5. The Summer semester slot timetable is enclosed as Annexure – I.
6. All courses will be offered in slots. Lab courses/ embedded labs will be allocated into lab slots.
7. Courses registered for the first time will not be charged. However, courses under Re-registration,
substitution, grade improvement, etc. (additional courses) will be charged @ Rs. 3300 per
course.
8. Last date of payment for additional courses without fine will be 20-05-2011 (Friday).
9. Students willing to write the arrear exams for the courses offered during Summer semester will
be permitted to take the Summer Term End Examination along with the Summer registered
students as per the TEE schedule given in Annexure - I. They have to pay an arrear exam fee of
Rs. 450 per exam (same for both UG and PG courses).
10. Faculty handling summer semester courses will be paid @ Rs. 400 per credit (one hour theory
class/ two hours of lab) as remuneration; Lab technicians will be paid @ Rs. 200 per credit (two
hours of lab) as remuneration.
11. A faculty will be permitted to take a maximum of 2 courses only.
Course Registration Procedure:
1. Students will login and use the Summer Course Request link to request courses, between
01-04-2011 and 10-04-2011 05:00 pm.
2. Subsequent to the removal of the link, the consolidated list of courses with student details will
be prepared by the Directorate of Academics and forwarded to the School Director/ PM for their
decision on 11-04-2011.
3. A Course-faculty-slot-venue link will be opened on 11-04-2011 for the Schools to upload
selected/ identified summer course-faculty- slot-venue details as per the guidelines given above.
The link will be removed on 20-04-2011 (Wednesday).
4. The Summer course registration for students will be made available between 25-04-2011
(Monday) and 12-05-2011 (Thursday), through the intranet.

1. One credit theory should have 15 contact hours per semester. A three credit course should be allotted to
A/B/C/D slot (8 hour/week) and four credit course to A+TA/B+TB/C+TC/D+TC slot (10 hour/week).
2. Lab slots (‘L’ slots) can be fixed based on student strength. One lab credit should have 30 contact hours in the
semester. One credit lab should have 3 numbers of 2 hour slots per week; two credit lab should have 6 numbers
of 2 hour slots per week (any three lab slots from L1 through L20) in a week. The last practical slot shall be used
for conducting Term End Practical Examination.
