• Architected a brand new web site for the church utilizing open-source blogging and
online forum software. The web site helps the church’s outreach program to grow its
membership.

• Member of a team that developed debugged, and supported code in the Property and
Casualty division’s accounting and claims management systems.
• Engineered Java application code for the claims system using JSP, Servlets, JSP
Tags, JDBC, EJBs and JMS.
• Designed about a dozen JSPs that make up the claims system’s application user
interface.
• Used JSP Tags to build input forms for the claims data.
• Architected SQL stored procedures for the underlying Oracle databases of both
systems.
• Analyzed data problems and crafted SQL scripts to correct data issues.
• Developed and maintained reports using JReport.
• Converted the code base for the claims and accounting systems from WAS 5.1 to
RAD 6.0. This allowed the team to conform to changing company standards, and
provided a 5-10% performance improvement to the users.
• Corrected a number of application issues which had prevented the proper processing
of certain claims. This allowed those claims to be processed and the funds to be

• Corrected approximately 50 individual data issues over the course of my term which

• Acted as department’s de facto expert on the company’s SOX change management
system and guided other department members in using the system. This kept the
team in conformance to company SOX policies.
Senior Applications Programmer / Analyst (2000 – 2006)
• Served as a Lotus Notes application developer supporting the Human Resources
Department primarily.
• Engineered the division’s performance evaluation and salary and bonus planning
applications, built using LotusScript. These applications were used by the entire
Americas division, including employees in Canada, the US, Mexico, Central and South
America, a total of about 3,000 employees.
• Engineered the Client Program Plan (CPP) application, built with Excel and
PowerPoint using VB for Applications. This reduced the amount of time it took to
analyze a client’s annual statement from 30 days to 30 seconds.
• Designed a half-dozen Plumtree portlets for various community pages on the Swiss
Re enterprise portal. The portlets were written as classic ASP pages with HTML,
JavaScript, DHTML and VB Script code.

3. • Built Plumtree portlets that were considered standards and were used across multiple
pages of the Portal.
• Delivered changes to the salary and bonus planning and performance review
applications 4-8 weeks ahead of schedule in multiple years
• Reviewed and recommended third party products that synchronize data between
Notes and other relational database systems.
• Developed a Notes application which compared two similar lists of data for
differences. This saved several users hours of work each quarter to verify

requirements and satisfied user requests.

application which the HR department used to track user progress and helped them
