2. Research Experience
Working as Senior Project Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Ashish Ganguly, Senior Scientist,
Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh, India
During my research career so far, I carried out innovative research resulting in co- and lead-
authored publications on biological important proteins and their complexes. Also, I am well
versed with fermentation of recombinant protein in E.coli and yeast Debaryomyces hansenii for
xylitol production and analysis of produced metabolites during the process by HPLC. Presently,
I am working on screening of synthetic compounds and microbial extracts capable of severing
actin to identify new drugs which can be used as therapeutics in diseases caused due to
dysregulation in actin metabolism.
My work summary includes:
Presently working as senior project fellow in CSIR sponsored project entitled “Bugs to
drugs” at G N Ramachandran protein center under supervision of Dr. Ashish.
Worked from Aug 2008 to Mar 2012 as project assistant on NMITLI sponsored project,
“Conversion of Cellulose and Hemicelluloses into Sugars and Alcohols” at Bioprocess
Engineering Research & Process Development Center (BERPDC), Institute of Microbial
Technology (CSIR), Chandigarh, INDIA
Successfully carried out large scale production (400 litre) for protease production and its
downstream processing for its application in leather industry under project entitled
“Biotechnology for leather: Towards Cleaner Processing” under supervision of Dr.
Gowthaman (Scientist CLRI).
Assisted Strides Arcolab Pvt. Limited, Hyderabad for the “Production of Recombinant
Staphylokinase from E. coli” under the supervision of Dr. D K Sahoo (Scientist).
Learned various routine Biochemical tests during training at Department of Biochemistry
(RNT Medical College, Udaipur) from 13 May 2008 to 31 July 2008 under Supervision of Dr.
K.N Mali, Head of Biochemistry Department.
Training at CloneGen Biotechnology Pvt. Ltd. From 15th
September, 2006 to 14th
March,
2007 under project entitled “Acetic acid and Lactic acid from indigenous food samples.”
