Imaging Being Church
Imagine for a moment that your church
exists but has no building.
How would it be different?
Would it act different?
Would it look different?
Would if feel different?
Where can we be church with those in
the first third of life?

young people engaging? How can the online

Online life
Are you asking God to participate in what you are doing? Or the other way around?
What are you seeing are the deepest needs in your place? For families? For children? For youth?
How is your context unique? Walking the neighborhood? Police ride along?
Size of the circles are not relevant.
Most of what we do as church falls into one of these four settings.
Are you spending most of your time at church planning things that depend on people showing up?
Do you know people in the community or only people at your church?
Are you creating space for God in your daily routine? Are you helping households create space?
What does your presence look like online?
It seems that most of the churches we work with spend most of there energy and resources to get people to show up at church.
Then we have nothing left for the rest.
All of this is “church” when we intentionally be and do in these settings.
What does this video say about how we compete for time with children, youth and adults?
We need to use our imagination.
Do this imagining exercise to help you see what the church is meant to be in the world.
Is there a disconnect between what you say and do?
Are you out in the community seeking to understand what’s going on?
This would be a good time for questions or comments.
Is there a thread throughout the week that connects with worship?
Church is not a place we go, we are the church.
Watching my daughter.
Faith around the table.
Does what you post online coincide with when most people are online at home?
Are you intentional with giving tools to families that are easy to implement?
Is your website seen as the front door to your church?
Are you active intentionally online or just posting random things?
Do you see it as an opportunity to be in relationship with people?
