Creationism Vs Genesis History
For centuries there has been a feud that almost every scientist has been part of; the creation vs
evolution controversy. Ever since 1859, when Darwin wrote "On the Origin of Species," the
argument on whether Earth was created by a higher being, or just evolved from atoms, has been one
of the most discussed topics. Of late, the evolutionary standpoint has been discussed more the
creationist standpoint. However, "Is Genesis History?" is a documentary that brings light to the
creationist standpoint. "Is Genesis History," proves there is a higher being out there, known as God,
that actually created the earth in 6 days, and the earth is only 4,000 years old! With the Bible, we
can explain many of the "proofs of evolution," on how it actually ... Show more content on

Was the world created in six days? The answer to that question is yes, a most definite yes. Just take
a look at the Grand Canyon; layers of sediment are proof of how the flood brought different layers
of dirt. As you go farther down the Grand Canyon, you can see the different levels of sedimentary
rock. You can see that the different layers line up with each other, almost as if someone drew a line
and said: "OK no more shales, now it is time for phosphates." "Is Genesis History?" explained, that
if the water was to have carved out the Grand Canyon, there would be more signs of erosion
between the different layers of sedimentary rocks, the farther you went down the Canyon. However,
that's not the case; the top layers of the Grand Canyon are actually more eroded the bottom layer of
rocks. The top layers of the Grand Canyon share the same type of sedimentary rock as most of the
top layer of North America. Sediment was carried by the flood and then that sediment was carved by
the water draining into the ocean. The Grand Canyon, one of the most iconic natural landmarks, is a
"living" proof that the world was created in six days.
Another interesting proof of the Great Flood, which in turn proves Genesis is telling the truth, are
fossils. There is a layer of rock that is spread all over North America, known as the Nautiloid Bed.
This layer of rock

What Is A Worldview?
What is a worldview? What is biblical worldview? How are they different from each other?
Worldview implies the beginning of how people view and make sense of life and the world. People
with a biblical worldview, also known as a Christian worldview, believes that their main reason for
living life on earth is to love and serve God, as well as teach others about Him. The Bible teaches us
about four topics and how they affect people's worldview. The Bible is very important to read
because it can help the reader learn more about God as well as learning the truth about what God
says. Reading the Bible will also help answer questions that people might be wondering and wanting
to know for a long time. Genesis 1–11 and Romans 1–8 teach us about the natural world, human
identity, human relationships, and civilization. Genesis 1–11 answers many questions that people
have about the natural world, especially in the first two chapters. Genesis clearly states that God
created all things. He created the earth, man, animals, plants, and all other living things on earth.
These scriptures explain how God created the world in six days and, on the seventh day, He rested
from the work that was done. Then, "God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He
rested from all His work which God had created and made" (Genesis 2:3 NASB). He did not create
anything else on the seventh day but instead rested. The Bible then goes on to discredit the theory of
evolution by saying, "The earth

God’s Creative Authority in Genesis and Job Essay
God's role in the Bible is characterized in several different ways, with dramatically competing
attributes. He takes on many functions and, as literary characters are, he is dynamic and changes
over time. The portrayal of God is unique in separate books throughout the Bible. This flexibility of
role and character is exemplified by the discrepancy in the depiction of God in the book of Genesis
in comparison to the depiction of God in the book of Job. On the larger scale, God creates with
intention in Genesis in contrast to destroying without reason in Job. However, as the scale gets
smaller, God's creative authority can be seen in both books, yet this creative authority is manifested
in entirely distinctive manners. In Genesis, God as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He distinguishes his inventions with minute details and yet, simultaneously, the entire creation is
pure and simple. There is no elaboration; his ideas just come into being. Once each individual
creation has come to be, God sees that is it good. Additionally, God is reasonable. There is a logical
reason and a unique place for everything: "God made the dome and separated the waters that were
under the dome from the waters that were above the dome" (Genesis 1:7). In addition to the content
of God's will and creations, the repetition and standardization of the verses in Genesis 1 reflect his
steadiness as a creator. In stark contrast to God's presence in Genesis, the character of God in Job
strays from the ideal perfection of the divine. The concept of the ideal manifested in Genesis is
embodied in God's moral, reasonable, and rational behavior. In Job, on the other hand, rather than
being reasonable, methodical, and creating life, God displays more human characteristics and plays
the role of both creator and destroyer. The book of Job begins with God's boastful bargain with
Satan, which subsequently leads God to allow the total destruction of Job's family and livelihood.
Job is even attacked physically with "loathsome sores... from the sole of his foot to the crown of his
head" (Job 2:7). In an uncharacteristically immoral decision, God gives Satan the power do

Religion Vs Big Bang Theory
Among all the things humans do not understand, the universe is one if not the most notorious idea in
which the origin is a mystery. The complexity of the topic could go from the abstruse nature of
quarks to the funniest and most unnatural idea of how the universe is grap in peace of zelofan.
Religion and science have been differing one with the other, in which one of them is legitimate
correct. The Bible affirms in the book of Genesis that the universe was created by an omnipotent
identity in seven days, in contrary of what the science belive. In science, exist many different
theories about the creation of the universe, but the most accepted and respected by the community, is
the Big Bang theory, which is resumed by saying that the universe ... Show more content on

Since try to find the answers for those things that men ignore, in a way that can be described as
exact, represented with numbers, graphics and all the tools needed to convince the audience to
believe in the idea that is exposed. According to the Merriam–Webster, first definition, theory means
"An idea or set of ideas that is intended to explain facts or events". In science as in religion exist
many theories about the creation of the universe, such as the Oscillating Universe, or the Steady–
State Universe, and the most accepted the Big Bang. The Oscillating Universe states that the
universe is involved in an endless series of Big Bangs, followed by Big Crunches that restarted the
cycle and make it endlessly. The Steady–State Universe which states the continuous creation of
matter throughout the universe to explain it apparent expansion. This type of universe would be
infinite, without beginning or end, however since mid 1960's this theory have been proved that is
not correct. The Big Bang Theory which is the most accepted in most part of the science community
and the one that is implemented in the educational system around the globe. The Big Bang Theory
began about 4 billion years ago. At that time, the entire Universe was inside a bubble that was
thousands of times smaller than a pinhead. It was hotter and denser than anything we can imagine.
Then it suddenly exploded. The Universe that we know was born. Time, space and matter all began
with the Big Bang. In a fraction of a second, the Universe grew from smaller than a single atom to
bigger than a galaxy. And it kept on growing at a fantastic rate. It is still expanding today. As the
Universe expanded and cooled, energy changed into particles of matter and antimatter. These two
opposite types of particles largely destroyed each other. But some matter survived.

Enuma Elish And Genesis Analysis
The world humans inhabit is a messy place filled with chaos and uncertainty. In attempting to
understand human life in this world, creation stories are helpful since they provide explanations to
the mysteries of life such as good and evil. Two examples of creation myths are Enuma Elish and
Genesis 1–4, which both detail the formation of the human world. However, Genesis is better for
understanding human life because it details the beginnings of human life, not just the creation, and
the origins of good and evil. Moreover, the origins of good and evil in Genesis are more like what
humans encounter in the world. In Genesis 1–4, three stories are told in which human life can be
understood. The first story is of creation, which explains why there

Creationism in Public Schools Essay
Creationism in Public Schools Teaching Creationism in Schools The question as to whether or not
creationism should be taught in public schools is a very emotional and complex question. It can be
looked at from several different angles, its validity being one of them. Despite the lack of evidence
to support the fundamentalist idea of creationism, that in itself is not enough to warrant its exclusion
from the curriculum of public schools in the United States. The question is far more involved and
complex.
One way to address the question is whether or not creationism, in itself, is a valid idea to be taught
in public schools. The answer to this can be yes. Not only should a student in American public
schools learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem in scientific creationism, and what I see as a reason for its exclusion from the science
classroom in public schools, is the fact that it looks as if, from the outside, the whole theory that it
rest on is simply a contortion of the traditional version of creation described in Genesis, custom–
made to fit in with Darwin's theory of evolution. R. M. Hare would probably say that scientific
creationism is simply a modification of the story of creation in Genesis, to fit into the ÒblikÓ of the
religious fundamentalist. A blik, as Hare describes it, is a pre–set worldview held by all people, in
which they draw from when forming certain opinions on any particular subject. In the case of
religious fundamentalist, whose faith in the validity of the Book of Genesis is an essential part of
their blik, it becomes necessary for them to contort their literal view of the Book of Genesis into a
form that is scientifically acceptable. For this reason, creation science still does not have a place in
the science classroom of public schools.
Another problem with scientific creationism is that it would exclude the idea of a random beginning.
No theory could ever be tested to find origins because it would conflict with scientific creationism.
Scientific creationism would be, in essence, a lesson on science halting efforts to find creation, if it
is possible at all. It may, however, be acceptable as

Genesis VS Plato
The story of Genesis, and the great philosopher Plato both depict a certain view on human nature.
Genesis demonstrates that humans live on in their families. While, Plato creates this idea that we are
in constant search of THE GOOD. In this paper, I will compare and contrast how these works
answer three important questions; What are human beings like? What kind of world do they live in?
What is the best life for humans to live? Finally, I will explain which one of these views better
represents what human beings are really like.
The first book of the Hebrew bible, Genesis, tells the story of how an all powerful God created the
Earth and all who inhabit it. The story is quite familiar even to those who do not belong to regions
that utilize the hebrew bible. However, the story quickly becomes unfamiliar once the story is
analyzed from a philosophical standpoint. A great example is Eve, people know her as the one who
"disobeyed" God and is the first to sin. But, why is Eve often interpreted as the evil one? Why is she

Ark replica in Williamstown, Kentucky with rainbow lights in a bid to take back the rainbow from
the LGBT community, but critics are mocking the decision.

Encounter will permanently show rainbow lights. He explained that the rainbow symbolizes God's
promise for His people in Genesis 6, Todd Starnes relays.
"We now have new permanent rainbow lights at the Ark Encounter so all can see that it is God's

Creation And Creation : The Biblical View Of Creation
Freund 1
"In the beginning" is a common phrase known to many, however, many know little about it. Only
when you dig deeper and truly seek to understand the mysteries underlining the Biblical view of
creation can you uncover the secrets of so much more. Along with the the discussion of the Biblical
view of creation, it is also necessary to assess when this event occurred, and what further impact in
had on later history.
According to Genesis, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1).
Even in all of its simplicity, it would seem that this very verse embodies the Biblical view of
creation in its entirety. Delving deeper within the realm of creation, however, its simplistic nature
soon disintegrates as this purposeful, historical account unfolds. From start to finish, this intricately
woven account encompasses an all–knowing and omnipotent God who renders forth in six, 24–hour
days, the earth and all of its creation. In the course of six, short days, all of creation sprang forth at
the hands of the almighty God. It began on day one, "God created the heavens and the earth"
(Genesis 1:1): Including the vast expanse of our cosmic world and far–reaching terrestrial sphere
casting forth light, distinguishing between night and day. On the second day, creating a rift between
waters, God brought forth the sky (Genesis 1:6). On the third day, land and sea, plants and
vegetation appeared. God spoke and it was so (Genesis 1:9–13). On the fourth

Comparing Three Creation Stories
One of biggest mysteries that people have been trying to answer for centuries is, "How was the earth
created?" Every culture and religion has a different story that attempts to describe how we came to
be. When we pick different creation stories from cultures and religions it's interesting to see what
similarities and differences arise. This paper will analyze some of the similar and different aspects of
three different creation stories. The first creation story is described in the Bible in Genesis 1–2:3, the
second in Genesis 2:4–24, and the third is the creation story of the Kono people of Guinea called
Death, and Life and Death.
It's fascinating that each creation story hints at a common purpose for humans. In Genesis 1, humans
are given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Genesis 1, the creating power, God, creates plants on day three of the six days of creation. Living
creatures (excluding humans) were created on the fifth and sixth days (ESV Gen 1:11–25). In the
Genesis 2 creation account, the Lord God plants the Garden of Eden after he creates the man. He
then creates animals in the same way he created the man and the man names all the animals (ESV
Gen 2:7–20). In Death, and Life and Death, the god Alatangana consolidates the earth from mud,
creates plants to cover the earth, and then creates animals to live on it ("Death, and Life and Death").
The creating power in Genesis 1 is referred to as "God" (ESV Gen 1:1–31; 2:1–3). What's
interesting is that in Genesis 2, each time the creating power is referenced; he is referred to as "the
Lord God" (ESV Gen. 2:4–25). Christians believe that "God" and "the Lord God" are the same
being, but it's interesting that they aren't described with the same name. Still, both Genesis accounts
creating powers differ from the Kono people's creation story Death, and Life and Death where the
creator of all living things is named Alatangana and the creator of light and death is named Sa

Review of "A comparative study of the Integrated Kinetic Energy in the tropical cyclones in the
north east Pacific and the north Atlantic basins"
Summary: The authors compare 2004–2013 TCs in the North Atlantic and East Pacific basins, using
IKE (TC extended best track data set) and rainfall (TRMM–3B42). The introduction defines the
concept of IKE and explains that a comparison of IKE in the EP and AL basins will be carried. The
following analysis provides the seasonal cycle of IKE and TC count, then shifts the focus to: the
relationship between IKE and TC genesis location the differences between the upper and lower
terciles of IKE in terms of:
TC track density
TC location at maximum IKE
TC genesis location the relationship between IKE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why is the analysis focused on genesis (Fig 2 and 5, Table 3)? Is there a hypothesized difference
between AL and EP when it comes to the relationship between location of genesis and maximum
IKE? What would that hypothesized difference tell us? What does the seasonal cycle of IKE and TC
count (Fig 1) tell us that is new? Are there expected differences with Fig 1 from Misra et al. (2013)?
If TC size explains most of IKE, the fact that IKE peaks in the fall should not come as a surprise:
Liu and Chan (1999) and Merrill (1984) have provided analyses of the size of TCs and have already
established that their size peaks in the Fall (Sept–Oct). Note that the direct assertion that IKE is
more sensitive to TC size than peak wind speed is nowhere to be found in either Powell and
Reinhold (2007), Misra et al. (2013) or Kozar and Misra (2015). In fact, Misra et al. (2013) state
that "the peak in TIKE is associated with a corresponding peak in larger sized storms in September"
because they also determined that there is a tendency to larger TCs in September. Kozar and Misra
(2015) note that "IKE is also tied to storm size and the many different processes that govern it."
Besides the geometry of the basin and the climatological atmospheric state, are there any other
effects that could explain the differences between AL and EP? It seems that parts of the analysis
were designed

Similarities Between Science And Science
introduction Religion and Science are very compatible; they both provide knowledge and
understanding of human nature and the world in which humankind live. Galileo According to
Galileo, there are two kinds of truth. One is the truth acquires through intellects, experience, and
vital evidence. The second is the truth acquired through bible teachings. The bible is meant to
explain topics that are beyond human reasoning, things that cannot be proven by science.
Accordingly, religious truth is strongly based on faith; it depends on the teachings of a divine being
and not on evidence. Science, on the other hand, contributes knowledge on things that cannot be
literally explained by the Bible; every statement made in science must be proven with facts.
Nonetheless, these different truths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When used in conjunction, science and religion contribute knowledge that allows people to seal the
gaps that may exist in each other's theories. They complete each other. They are both guides that
make people life more fulfilling by providing answers to common questions like creation.
Conclusion: In conclusion, religion is compatible with science because they are both sources of
knowledge and understanding to humankind. They give people, the answers to common questions
about existence. The bible allows human beings to gain knowledge in a humble way by establishing
a higher power as the source of all knowledge. Science, however, allows human beings to make
their own discoveries, using the gifts given to them by the Higher power, to gain knowledge. While
religion teaches human beings that some knowledge cannot be proven, science gives them the tools
needed to gain evidence of the things that can. Science and religion, when well interpreted, support
each other. They complete each other theories by filling each other's gap. For example, God can be
inserted into science big bang theory to explain what came before the big

The Israelites From Genesis 2-3
The passage from Genesis 1–9 that drew my interest most was the first story of creation in Genesis
1. This creation story implies that God created all of the universe in an orderly manner, and he was
proud of what he had made, especially human beings. I imagine the Israelites, the community that
received this story from the Priestly Sources, heard it as a confirmation that the God they
worshipped was the correct one. The Israelites were probably accustomed to the creation story from
Genesis 2–3 by the time this story was written. Although the Genesis 2–3 story tells about how their
God created the universe and humans, there is not as much mentioning of how this God looked upon
his creation with favor as he does in Genesis 1. At the end of the

Karen Armstrong
The book, In the Beginning, by Karen Armstrong follows the first book of the Bible, Genesis. It
unfolds some very well–known stories in Genesis. Armstrong goes through each of the stories of
Genesis and interprets what each story is about and how we can relate it to our own lives. The book
of Genesis can be difficult to understand and it holds many mysteries within it, but with the help of
Karen Armstrong, we are able to understand the stories of Genesis and what they mean.
This is the story of the Bible's first book, raw and unchurched. Karen introduces us one by one to the
characters and their stories, making no effort to turn them into saints, for they are nothing like the
impossibly and depressingly flawless characters we met in Sunday School. Throughout, the authors
of Genesis remind us that we can expect no clear–cut answers. We wrestle with the text, measuring
its inconsistent doctrines and contradictory lessons, as we struggle to grasp the character of God.
How can God be omnipotent, but powerless to control his creation? How can God be benevolent but
a killer; wise but arbitrary; just but partial and unfair; omniscient but ignorant of human yearning?

Genesis And Job Essay
In the Bible, the books of Genesis and Job, each give a description of the creation of heaven and
earth. They depict different views and styles but share the same idea that God is the creator. Genesis
1–2 is the most popular and well known story that says God created everything in six days and the
seventh day was rest. In the book of Job 38–40, the concept of creation was told to Job in order to
make him understand why he was suffering and to perceive the ways of God.
The first chapter in Genesis defines the beginning as being majestic and analytical. It demonstrates a
limited description of how life will continue to be maintained in everyday growth and how the earth
will continue to bring food for all living things (Gen. 1:29–30). Genesis also suggest that the Creator
was a one time occurance at the beginning of time. It explains what God created each day and in
chapter 2 clarifies the creation of man and woman. On the other hand, Job provides imagery and
metaphors to help the human mind to wrap around the concept of how the universe was formed. For
example, God speaks to Job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bill Nye : An American Science Educator
Bill Nye is an American science educator, comedian, television host, actor, writer, scientist, and
former mechanical engineer. Ken Ham is a young Earth creationist, fundamentalist Christian, and
the president of Answers in Genesis (AiG), a Creationist apologetics ministry which operates the
Creation Museum. They had a debates about "Is creation a viable model of origins in today's modern
scientific era?" They both talked a lot about this topic, but I will only summary a few. There
opinions are really depth theories to research.
First, Ken Ham started state his opinions. He asked a question,"What is science?" He thinks science
has been hijacked by secularists. Science actually means "to know the knowledge as distinguished
from ignorance or misunderstanding," but there is different type of knowledges, like experimental or
observational science. People created technology from these two methods. Observational science
which is for obvious reasons. Some geologists take present–day rates of radiometric decay and rock
formation and imagine that the rates have always been the same. That's why they think the earth is
so old. But we can not zip back in time to test this for accuracy. Students are really important groups
in the world. What they believe depends on what they learn. The public schools science books are
using the same word science for observational and historical science. They define science as
naturalism and outlaw the supernatural. Again, he thinks science has been

Theistic Evolution Research Paper
One might ask, what is theistic evolution? The answer might not be as simple as it would seem.
Theistic Evolution takes on many different aspects in ones' life and can also lead one astray from the
true joy of what God has in store for a persons' life. To define theistic evolution one would have to
go back and reveal what the belief actually is. It has been said that if one were to take the Bible
literally, then that person would be a fool. Those of us who believe in God as creator and author of
all that exist must be those fools they speak of and proud of it. Theistic evolution is one of three
major origin–of–life worldviews, the other two being atheistic evolution (also commonly known as
Darwinian evolution and naturalistic evolution) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two theistic evolution viewpoints disagree as to the role God played in the unfolding of events,
but they generally agree on the Darwinian timeline. This timeline is in conflict with the Genesis
creation account. For example, Genesis 1 says that the earth was created on day one and the sun,
moon, and stars were not created until day four. Some argue that the wording of Genesis suggests
the sun, moon, and stars were actually created on day one but they could not be seen through earth's
atmosphere until day four, leading to their placement on day four. This is a bit of a stretch, as the
Genesis account is pretty clear that the earth did not have an atmosphere until the second day. If the
sun, moon, and stars were created on day one, they should have been visible on day

Comparing Gilgamesh's Polpol Vuh And Other Myths
Polpol Vuh and other Myths After reading the book Polpol Vuh, I was able to instantly point out
many similarities and differences between two other myths that we have read throughout the class.
The first myth that came to mind was Genesis. Genesis and Polpol Vuh both talk of creation of
animals, trees, and mountains, as well as the creation of mankind, After doing research in the past, I

Polpol Vuh and Genesis. While reading these tales, I was also able to answer a series of questions
based on my opinions. In this essay, I will explain my beliefs about what the people in these three
tales seem to believe about how they came to be, what qualities they share, what is important to
them, why their creator(s) make them, their reason for being where they are and lastly, what a good
person and bad person would be like if these people wanted to be like their creator(s). I believe that
the people in Genesis believe that they are created from Gods image. In genesis, it states, "And God

they believe man and apes share a common ancestor, and whether or not they believe Adam and Eve
were real people. To answer the first question of how long are the days in Genesis 1, my friend
Maddie said, "It's hard to access how long the days were during creation. Many theologians believe,

To answer this question my friend Maddie said that the Earth and life are difficult to separate
because life exists on earth and is one with it (plant, particles, water, etc.) These are the things that
are supposed to be around 2 billion years old. Maddie said, "I am not a scientist, however, I know
that what we have now has developed over time and I believe that it has changed. (I.e. Dinosaurs,
continents, rocks) My friend Garrett said that he believes the earth is trillions of years old because of
the scientific findings. My friend Bogdan believes that the earth is 4.54 billions years old according
to evolution. I believe that the earth is about 6,000 years old. If you add up the genealogies
mentioned in Matthew, you get a total of close to 6,000 years. In the Bible we can also calculate
about 2,000 years from the time of Abraham to Christ, and using genealogies again, there were
about 2,000 years before the flood. There are certain things in the world that definitely appear to be
older than what most creationists would claim the earth to be. However, I believe that God could
have created things with apparent age and that the flood could have influenced our dating of various
items, as well. One of the main problems with an older earth is death before sin. Adam and Eve
would have had to have lived for millions of years before sin entered the

Enuma Elish : The Idea Of Creation In The Book Of Genesis
How the world, where people are living in right now, was created in the beginning? Humankind has
been asking this question throughout the centuries, and some people throw some answers to this
question. People in Israel answer that God created the heaven and the earth in the beginning while
Babylonians answer that Marduk establishes the natural order and dwelling for gods after win a
battle. The reason that these two ethnic groups respond differently is because they have been walked
through different history and worldview. Enuma Elish, which is the Babylonian creation epic, and
the book of Genesis in the Bible, what Israelites believe, shows little similar senses but totally
different idea of creation. From the first part of each writing, book of Genesis and Enuma Elish, the
similarity and difference can be found. In the beginning, the world in both Genesis and Enuma Elish
does not have shape. There is nothing but just emptiness before creation in Genesis: "In the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness
was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters" (New
International Version 1:1–2). Enuma Elish also does not have things to be called but, just gods are
existed: "When on high no name was given to heaven / Nor below was the netherworld called by
name, / Primeval Apsu was their progenitor. / And matrix–Tiamat was she who bore them all, / They

Comparision of Genesis with Other Creation Mythologies Essay
Comparison of Genesis with Other Creation Mythologies
We all know that our mothers and fathers gave us birth, and grandmothers and grandfathers gave our
parents birth. However, what about the beginning? What does the beginning look like? Who created
the sky, the earth, the mountains and rivers, the plants, the animals, and the human beings? How was
the world created? What happened to the creator? These questions have puzzled and are asked by
every people. However, no one has yet found the answers, and I have heard people saying that the
creation of life is as impossible as the natural creation of an airplane from a stack of waste. With the
willingness of knowing the self, ancient people tried to create mythological stories ... Show more

The only difference is that in this Indian story, not even God (or an equivalent form) was there.
Egyptians and Chinese imagined the same scene, the Nun and the chaotic egg with a giant
(Egyptian, Lin 1). In contrast with the creation out of nothing, the indigenous Australian mythology
tells us that the stars, the sky, the sun, the moon, and the ancestors of all lives were already present
in the beginning, but they are sleeping under the crust of the earth in the water holes (Aborigine).
Seneca people believed that humans were living in the heaven originally, and there were only ocean
and ocean living lives on the earth (Creation). It is very interesting to recognize how important
water is to lives. Every account of creation that I have read included water before anything else was
present.
Whatever was present in the beginning had managed to create all the rest, and the description of
creators are of three categories, a single creator, multi–creators, and no creator. In Genesis, God is
the single creator, and so is Brahman of India. The difference is that the God is immortal, but
Brahman is mortal (Genesis, Genesis Project). In Chinese mythology, Pan Gu was the creator of
everything but men, who were created by Nu Wa, a goddess (Lin 1–5). Other examples of multi–
creators are in the mythology of Egypt and Seneca in which the children of the creator became

15. What does Davis say that seems to be a better translation for "gods" in 3:5? Why?
Davis translation for "gods" in Genesis 3:5 is Elohim because it can be translated as God or "gods".
16. What is the sequence of the temptation and fall?
The sequence of temptation is the lust of the Flesh. The second is the lust of the eye's, and the third
is the pride of life.
17. Give an example of a wrong interpretation of what "eating forbidden fruit" means? Why should
this interpretation be rejected?
Some have said that "eating forbidden fruit fruits" is a parallel for sexual intercourse. This is
rejected because God created male and female in compatability to be fruitful and multiply.
18. What is depravity all about?
Depravity is about knowing evil but being unable to resist it.
19. What were Adam and Eve attempting to do when they made "fig leaves" clothes (other than
covering their nakedness)?
Adam and Eve were attempting to cover their shame of sin.
20. Where is the first mention of the virgin birth of Christ?
The first mention of the virgin birth is in Genesis 3:15.
21. How is God's grace exhibited in this chapter?
God's grace is exhibited in this chapter because he sought His creation, He promised a savior; He
clothed His creation; and He removed the temptation of sin (the tree of knowledge of good and evil).

How To Read Genesis 1 Essay
Genesis 1:1 reads, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). If I never
had access to any books and could only learn or know about the universe through what I observe
with my own eyes, there would be a few things that I would be able to learn from reading Genesis
1:1. The first thing that I would be able to learn from reading Genesis 1:1 is about God. If I never
heard or knew of God prior to reading Genesis 1:1, others along with myself would probably
wonder whom God is. From the reading, I would know that God is the creator of the heavens and
the earth. Others reading this might also wonder what creating the heavens and the earth really
means, and if he created everything else on earth. Another big question

Radiocarbon Dating Is Inaccurate
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound? If God created the
earth and no one was around to see it, did it still happen? The answer to both of these questions is
yes. Because of the Bible, we know that God created the earth in a literal 6, 24 hour days about
6,000 years ago. Many Christian think God may have used evolution and creation but that is not a
viable theory. Methods such as Carbon Dating cannot be trusted because they have been proven
inaccurate over and over again. Because radiocarbon dating is inaccurate, the literal Genesis account
of creation is the one and only viable answer to where this world came from.

A Christian At The Age Of 14
Author Information: (see attached resume for additional information) I became a Christian at the age
of 14, partly as a result of being taught evolution in public school. Learning about evolution made
me very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a result of a series of
random accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear gospel presentation and
trusted Christ as my savior as a freshman in high school. Since that time, I have had an avid interest
in the scientific evidence that proves the biblical creation account true and evolution false. I worked
for 35 plus years as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Initially, as a research
hydrologist studying the quantity and quality of river water. I later moved into water science
management positions and lastly served as an executive responsible for the all the surface–water
related activities of the USGS in the U.S.A. As an executive, I was also designated as the Delaware
River Master. As River Master, I administered the provisions of the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court
Decree allocating the waters of the Delaware River. My career with the USGS has provided me with
a wealth of education and experience in all aspects fresh–water related science and science
management. During my career with the USGS, I authored or co–authored about 40 scientific and
lay reader reports, proceedings paper, and abstracts. Since becoming a Christian, I have had a keen

The book of Genesis contains various creation, flood and patriarchal narratives. Genesis was written
in a certain time and place, to a certain audience, with a certain meaning intended by the original
author. However, Genesis wasn't the only source in regards to creation, flood and patriarchal
narratives throughout the Near East during this time. In fact, the accounts in Genesis took place at a
later time than some of the other literature in the Near East. It also could be argued that the authors
of Genesis were influenced by the culture in their writings. The goal will be to show how each kind
of narrative is both similar and dissimilar so that the Genesis narrative is brought more into focus

Why or why not? The short answer to this question is yes. Genesis's flood story can be thought of as
written by other couple sources, authors "J" and "P" (Hays 90). Author "J" is the older manuscript
and Author "P" is the redactor. Author "J" is identified because of the use of Yahweh. Author "P" is
likely the priestly redactor that would not use the holy name of Yahweh. Priest would instead us the
word Lord. Another way source division is identifiable is through doublets that seem to occur
throughout the Genesis narrative. Some of the doublets contradict one another therefore leading one
to believe there are more than one author. For example, Author "J" states that seven pairs of ritually
clean and one pair of unclean animals were taken aboard the Ark then 40 days of rain ensued. The
later redactor, Author "P", seems to transpose a different (Babylonian) account of 2 pairs of animals
and 150 days of rain (Hays 91) Best explanation is that "P" and "J" has been harmonized over time,
both full stories, then redaction by a later

The following claim states that it can give evidence that all animals and humans originated from
occupants of the ark. The people could have descended from the ark inhabitants, but scientist lack
evidence on the animals descending from the ark. Finding the ark does not give evidence of the
ancestry of all creatures. One way to refute this is consider the Koala in Australia. How did this
earthly animal travel to Australia once the ark settled? Traveling this distance would be impossible
nevertheless because the flood was local Koalas did not need to be on the ark. Furthermore, the
author asserts that locating ark remains forces paleontologists to re–decipher fossils as an effect of
the flood, not of many years buildup. Old–earth creationists relates fully with the geological proof of
the arks old age existence. There are no findings of the ark, although several informants alleged to
have seen it. In reality the ark will never be located, most likely it no longer exists. Noah maybe
used the ark wood for rebuilding the society. God declared to Noah never again would He destroy
the world with water. Noah was clear he had no use for the ark maybe he dismantled it for
constructing material. Moreover, creation theorists Baumgardner, and Barnett claim after the flood
the land would have resembled a lifeless wilderness deprived of trees and plants. If the plant and
tree seeds floated after the flood it would still take many years

The True Meaning Of The Word Day In Genesis
According to Merriam–Webster dictionary, a day is defined as a period of twenty four hours as a
unit of time, reckoned from one midnight to the next, corresponding to a rotation of the earth on it's
axis. Where did this definition come from? Christians know that a day is defined this way based on
the Bible. In Genesis, God explains that the universe was created in 6 days. Many people have
searched deeper than the obvious and claim that these "six days" could have been millions of years.
So what is true? What does a "day" mean in Genesis? The word "yom" is a Biblical Hebrew word
meaning "day". This word means a 24 hour period of time. As we look deeper in the Bible, the
answer to this question can be either confusing or simplifying. It can ... Show more content on

Genesis Vs. Enuma Elish
Compare and Contrast: Genesis and Enuma Elish Genesis and Enuma Elish (also known as the Epic
of Creation,) are often compared by scholars due to their being a shared account between the two.
Even though both stories have their similarities, they are indeed very different in almost every way.
Genesis has one creator, God, while Enuma Elish has two. Genesis describes God creating sea and
land creatures on the fifth day, opposed to Enuma Elish where there are no accounts of this in the
Babylonian records.
In the chapter of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible, God alone, created the Heavens and the Earth from
nothing, he created humans from dust and the sun, moon, stars, and the seasons. In the Enuma Elish,

The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything
The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically
and scientifically, when compared to the other positions of theism and New World creationism. This
is due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant proofs
that their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the
other creationism viewpoints. It does not deny the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1–2, saying
that they do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its
own belief from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded
upon with the explanation of the six days of creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are
an extended period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical
timeline, but it being a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also
justifies the scientific outlook on the creation story. Like how humanity is always discovering new
substances and species, information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. When compared
to the other viewpoints of creationism, the Old World position has the most evidence. New World
and theistic approaches to the origin story have their own pros and cons, but they both have glaring
weaknesses. They both ignore and deny the existence of evidence from the other viewpoints. The

Genesis 24
A protagonist is the character that drives the action of the plot. In Genesis 24, the main character
who drives the plot of the story is Abraham's servant, who has been given the job to find a suitable
wife for Isaac. The entire story of Genesis 24 is revolved around the job of the servant and him
being divinely introduced to Rebekah, the wife Abraham said to find. Abraham provides specific
instructions for his servant in his task to find Isaac a wife; therefore, the action of the story moves
from Abraham, which most of this part of Genesis is about, to Abraham's servant. The servant
finding Rebekah is a fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham of many descendants given a couple
chapters before in Genesis. Additionally, the previous chapter ... Show more content on

If Rebekah were the main character of the story, the story would have told of her actions before the
servant notices her. The writer of the story made sure to frame Rebekah as a secondary character
because she is only found because of the directions given to the servant. As mentioned before,
Rebekah responded to the servant's request just as he was told the proper wife would. In addition,
Rebekah is part of the "house of [the servant's] master's kin" (Genesis 24:27). The servant is the one
who asked that Rebekah come right away even though her family objected the notion, which was
part of the servant's initial directions (Genesis 24:56). Rebekah is the embodiment of the woman
Abraham described to the servant. Being the embodiment means being the outcome of the story, not
the protagonist. Also, even when Rebekah has been chosen by the servant, the wedding of Rebekah
and Isaac does not take up a large part of the chapter. Genesis 24:67 proclaims that "Then Isaac
brought her into his mother Sarah's tent... and she became his wife". This act of marriage seems to
be an afterthought because the servant followed the directions of Abraham, so Isaac knew she was
divinely meant to be his wife. The largest part of the chapter was still the servant trying to find the
wife for Isaac. If Rebekah were the protagonist, a stronger emphasis would have been placed on this
act of marriage between Rebekah and

Evolution Is A Highly Argumentative Topic, Today 's Society
Payne 1
Jared Payne
English 11
Mrs. Brown
5 December 2014
Pro–evolution: Why? Creation versus evolution is a highly argumentative topic, especially in today's
society. A recent debate, between Bill Nye "The Science Guy" and Ken Ham, has sparked even more
controversy over this particular topic. A poll administered by Gallup shows that forty–six percent of
Americans believe God created humans as they are now ten–thousand years ago, and that the only
reliable dating system is the Word of God (Lovan 1). Many others believe that humans have evolved
into how they are in present times, and that science, and its ways of dating things, is reliable and
correct. Evolution wins over creationism because Bill Nye won the debate with Ken
Ham, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say that Nye won, not only with his facts, but with his style (Chowdhury 2). Because Bill Nye
is representing evolutionists, Payne 2 and he beat Ham, who is representing creationists, this is one
of few signs that signify that evolution beats creation.
Another way that evolution wins over creation is that creationist views threaten the science of the
United States. With almost half of the United States' in favor of creation, this could pose a potential
threat to US science. Innovation is in jeopardy if everything known about nature and the universe is
forgotten by ancient text translated into English. "'The Earth is not
6,000 or 10,000 years old,' Nye said in an interview with The Associated Press, citing scientists'
estimates that it is about 4.5 billion years old. 'It's not. And if that conflicts with your beliefs, I
strongly feel you should question your beliefs.'" "[Nye also emphasized that] 'If we raise a
generation of students who don't believe in the process of science . . . you're not going to continue to
innovate'" Bible stories are presented as an alternative to evolution in some states, as approved by
lawmakers and school boards. Teachers in Tennessee are protected by a law to let students judge
scientific theories, including evolution (Lovan 1). Because creationist views are a threat to the
science of the United States, this shows that creationism is harmful to science,

The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day
Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be maintained that the
first three days are days in the sense that we now understand them? Our current day is delineated via
the earth's rotation in relation to the Sun – no Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the passage itself says this,
for it says in Gen. 1:14: "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from
the night. And let them be . . . for days". It may be objected that, regardless of whether or not we had
a distant object in relation to which we might measure the progression of the earth's rotation, it
nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by no means clear, for the text itself
maintains that the earth was radically and fundamentally different at that time, being "without form
and void" (v. 2). As such, any claim that the earth's rotation then was similar to what it is now is
based on an assumption: namely, that in spite of the fact that the earth itself was physically different,
natural processes such as its rotation were the same then as now.
This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled against those who
adhere to other interpretations of the days (and correspondingly, the age of the earth) by those with
whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar–day interpretation frequently charge those with
whom they disagree, whether secular scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural processes

Creation Vs. Evolution Debate
The vivid story of the creation account found in Genesis 1 and 2 often gets lost in the question of
"how" rather than the question of "why." Desmond Alexander points out that the creation story
"often hijacked by those who are almost exclusively preoccupied by the modern debate on the
relationship between the biblical view of creation and that of contemporary science" (Alexander
119). Gary Schnittjer helps by adding, "Problems occur when readers use the scriptures to answer
their own questions–questions that the biblical text was not designed to answer" (Schnittjer 1048).
The creation story is not as much a detailed explanation of how the world was created, but rather a
theological description of God's purpose and relationship in creating humanity (Schnittjer 816).
Even more, the Genesis account provides a means to interpret the rest of the "the story of which it is
a part" (Schnittjer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have come to realize this debate only leads to endless and meaningless conversations that miss the
point. Even more, after this week's readings, my eyes have been opened even wider to the wonder of
the creation account. What stands out most vividly is God spoke the world into existence. The
power of his voice and the obedience of the cosmos are incredible. Yet even more amazing is that
God did not speak man into existence, rather he formed him with his hands and then breathed life
into him. I knew that is what happened, but I had never picked up on the delicate and closeness of
God creating humanity. Also, it should be noted that man is the only thing that did not obey what
God spoke to him, which led to the Fall. All in all, Genesis 1 and 2 set the stage for all of Genesis by
describing God's relationship with humanity and his desire to dwell among them, which will one

Jewish Interpretation Of Genesis 1: 26-28
INTRODUCTION Within the these three verses of Genesis 1:26–28 lies a myriad of interpretive
questions upon whose answers stand the weight of our theologies of creation and anthropology.
Beyond the interpretation of Genesis 1:26–28 in its original context, the use of the image of God in
the New Testament plays a prominent role within Paul's theology of new creation and the
glorification of mankind in Christ (hereafter "Paul's image theology," cf. Rm. 1:23; 8:29; 1 Cor.
15:49; 2 Cor. 3:18; 4:4; Col. 1:15; 3:10). Understanding the contemporary Jewish interpretation of

In the apocryphal Wisdom of Solomon (first century, BC ) we find Wisdom directing human history
including creation. In Wisdom 9:1–2 we see explicit reference to personified Wisdom forming man.
Further, in Wisdom 10:1 we see personified Wisdom protecting the "first–formed father of the
world, when he alone had been created." Clearly, the author of Wisdom in the first century saw
Wisdom as a present figure at the beginning of God's creative work. Philo adds further support here
as is found in his Questions and Answers on Genesis, "And who is to be considered the daughter of
God but Wisdom, who is the first–born mother of all things and most of all of those who are greatly
purified in soul?" Wisdom in Philo's reasoning seems to have been present as the "mother of all
things." Philo not surprisingly takes the "us" of Genesis 1:26–27 further than personified Wisdom
though as he writes, "God said, ...'Let us make' indicating more than one. So the Father of all things
is holding parley with His powers, whom He allowed to fashion the mortal portion of our soul." This
is actually Philo's solution to the problem of evil in mankind – God only created that which is good
in man ("that invisible reasoning faculty free from admixture" ), which shows us we are venturing
afield from typical early Jewish interpretation of this text into Greek thought. This deviation from
Jewish thought in

Answers In Genesis-USA
Answers in Genesis resulted from the merging of two Australian creationist organizations in 1980.
One was founded in the late 1970s by John Mackay, Ken Ham, and others as Creation Science
Educational Media Services. Its founders believed that the established Christian church's teaching of
the Bible was being compromised. The group merged with Carl Wieland's Creation Science
Association in 1980, becoming the Creation Science Foundation (CSF) that later became Answers in
Genesis. In 1987, Ken Ham was seconded by CSF to work for the Institute for Creation Research
(ICR) in the United States, then in 1994 left ICR to found Answers In Genesis–USA. Later that year,
CSF in Australia and other countries changed their names to Answers In Genesis so that all the sister

Creation In Genesis And Genesis
How the world people are living in right now was created in the beginning? Humankind has been
asking this question throughout the centuries, and some people throw some answers to this question.
People in Israel answer that God created the heaven and earth in the beginning while Babylonians
answer that Marduk establishes the natural order and dwelling for gods after win a battle. The reason
that these two ethnic groups respond differently is because they have been walked through different
history and worldview. Enuma Elish, which is the Babylonian creation epic, and the book of Genesis
in the Bible, what Israelites believe, shows little similar sense but totally different idea of creation.
From the first part of each writing, book of Genesis and Enuma Elish, the similarity and difference
can be found. In the beginning, the world in both Genesis and Enuma Elish does not have shape.
There is nothing but just emptiness before creation in Genesis: "In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the
deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters" (New International Version 1:1–2).
Enuma Elish also does not have things to be called but just gods are existed: "When on high no
name was given to heaven / Nor below was the netherworld called by name, / Primeval Apsu was
their progenitor. / And matrix–Tiamat was she who bore them all, / They were mingling their waters
together, / No canebrake was intertwined nor thicket matted close. / When no gods at all had been
brought forth, Nor called by names, non destinies ordained" (Enuma Elish Tablet 1 1–8).
Furthermore, both God and gods are staying in the water in the beginning of the creation. It is
interesting that the water is mentioned in both writings. However, although there are some
similarities in both, there is a radical difference inherent between both stories. Genesis is written and
fiducially focusing on the one and only God that no other god is mentioned. It simply says God
creates the world. In contrast, Enuma Elish mentions two names Apsu and Tiamat and explains that
they are the parents of other gods. Two books are divided into two different ideas of monotheism

Creationism Vs Genesis History

  • 1. Creationism Vs Genesis History For centuries there has been a feud that almost every scientist has been part of; the creation vs evolution controversy. Ever since 1859, when Darwin wrote "On the Origin of Species," the argument on whether Earth was created by a higher being, or just evolved from atoms, has been one of the most discussed topics. Of late, the evolutionary standpoint has been discussed more the creationist standpoint. However, "Is Genesis History?" is a documentary that brings light to the creationist standpoint. "Is Genesis History," proves there is a higher being out there, known as God, that actually created the earth in 6 days, and the earth is only 4,000 years old! With the Bible, we can explain many of the "proofs of evolution," on how it actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Was the world created in six days? The answer to that question is yes, a most definite yes. Just take a look at the Grand Canyon; layers of sediment are proof of how the flood brought different layers of dirt. As you go farther down the Grand Canyon, you can see the different levels of sedimentary rock. You can see that the different layers line up with each other, almost as if someone drew a line and said: "OK no more shales, now it is time for phosphates." "Is Genesis History?" explained, that if the water was to have carved out the Grand Canyon, there would be more signs of erosion between the different layers of sedimentary rocks, the farther you went down the Canyon. However, that's not the case; the top layers of the Grand Canyon are actually more eroded the bottom layer of rocks. The top layers of the Grand Canyon share the same type of sedimentary rock as most of the top layer of North America. Sediment was carried by the flood and then that sediment was carved by the water draining into the ocean. The Grand Canyon, one of the most iconic natural landmarks, is a "living" proof that the world was created in six days. Another interesting proof of the Great Flood, which in turn proves Genesis is telling the truth, are fossils. There is a layer of rock that is spread all over North America, known as the Nautiloid Bed. This layer of rock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. What Is A Worldview? What is a worldview? What is biblical worldview? How are they different from each other? Worldview implies the beginning of how people view and make sense of life and the world. People with a biblical worldview, also known as a Christian worldview, believes that their main reason for living life on earth is to love and serve God, as well as teach others about Him. The Bible teaches us about four topics and how they affect people's worldview. The Bible is very important to read because it can help the reader learn more about God as well as learning the truth about what God says. Reading the Bible will also help answer questions that people might be wondering and wanting to know for a long time. Genesis 1–11 and Romans 1–8 teach us about the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. Genesis 1–11 answers many questions that people have about the natural world, especially in the first two chapters. Genesis clearly states that God created all things. He created the earth, man, animals, plants, and all other living things on earth. These scriptures explain how God created the world in six days and, on the seventh day, He rested from the work that was done. Then, "God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made" (Genesis 2:3 NASB). He did not create anything else on the seventh day but instead rested. The Bible then goes on to discredit the theory of evolution by saying, "The earth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. God’s Creative Authority in Genesis and Job Essay God's role in the Bible is characterized in several different ways, with dramatically competing attributes. He takes on many functions and, as literary characters are, he is dynamic and changes over time. The portrayal of God is unique in separate books throughout the Bible. This flexibility of role and character is exemplified by the discrepancy in the depiction of God in the book of Genesis in comparison to the depiction of God in the book of Job. On the larger scale, God creates with intention in Genesis in contrast to destroying without reason in Job. However, as the scale gets smaller, God's creative authority can be seen in both books, yet this creative authority is manifested in entirely distinctive manners. In Genesis, God as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He distinguishes his inventions with minute details and yet, simultaneously, the entire creation is pure and simple. There is no elaboration; his ideas just come into being. Once each individual creation has come to be, God sees that is it good. Additionally, God is reasonable. There is a logical reason and a unique place for everything: "God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome" (Genesis 1:7). In addition to the content of God's will and creations, the repetition and standardization of the verses in Genesis 1 reflect his steadiness as a creator. In stark contrast to God's presence in Genesis, the character of God in Job strays from the ideal perfection of the divine. The concept of the ideal manifested in Genesis is embodied in God's moral, reasonable, and rational behavior. In Job, on the other hand, rather than being reasonable, methodical, and creating life, God displays more human characteristics and plays the role of both creator and destroyer. The book of Job begins with God's boastful bargain with Satan, which subsequently leads God to allow the total destruction of Job's family and livelihood. Job is even attacked physically with "loathsome sores... from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head" (Job 2:7). In an uncharacteristically immoral decision, God gives Satan the power do ... • 7. Religion Vs Big Bang Theory Among all the things humans do not understand, the universe is one if not the most notorious idea in which the origin is a mystery. The complexity of the topic could go from the abstruse nature of quarks to the funniest and most unnatural idea of how the universe is grap in peace of zelofan. Religion and science have been differing one with the other, in which one of them is legitimate correct. The Bible affirms in the book of Genesis that the universe was created by an omnipotent identity in seven days, in contrary of what the science belive. In science, exist many different theories about the creation of the universe, but the most accepted and respected by the community, is the Big Bang theory, which is resumed by saying that the universe ... Since try to find the answers for those things that men ignore, in a way that can be described as exact, represented with numbers, graphics and all the tools needed to convince the audience to believe in the idea that is exposed. According to the Merriam–Webster, first definition, theory means "An idea or set of ideas that is intended to explain facts or events". In science as in religion exist many theories about the creation of the universe, such as the Oscillating Universe, or the Steady– State Universe, and the most accepted the Big Bang. The Oscillating Universe states that the universe is involved in an endless series of Big Bangs, followed by Big Crunches that restarted the cycle and make it endlessly. The Steady–State Universe which states the continuous creation of matter throughout the universe to explain it apparent expansion. This type of universe would be infinite, without beginning or end, however since mid 1960's this theory have been proved that is not correct. The Big Bang Theory which is the most accepted in most part of the science community and the one that is implemented in the educational system around the globe. The Big Bang Theory began about 4 billion years ago. At that time, the entire Universe was inside a bubble that was thousands of times smaller than a pinhead. It was hotter and denser than anything we can imagine. Then it suddenly exploded. The Universe that we know was born. Time, space and matter all began with the Big Bang. In a fraction of a second, the Universe grew from smaller than a single atom to bigger than a galaxy. And it kept on growing at a fantastic rate. It is still expanding today. As the Universe expanded and cooled, energy changed into particles of matter and antimatter. These two opposite types of particles largely destroyed each other. But some matter survived. ... • 9. Enuma Elish And Genesis Analysis The world humans inhabit is a messy place filled with chaos and uncertainty. In attempting to understand human life in this world, creation stories are helpful since they provide explanations to the mysteries of life such as good and evil. Two examples of creation myths are Enuma Elish and Genesis 1–4, which both detail the formation of the human world. However, Genesis is better for understanding human life because it details the beginnings of human life, not just the creation, and the origins of good and evil. Moreover, the origins of good and evil in Genesis are more like what humans encounter in the world. In Genesis 1–4, three stories are told in which human life can be understood. The first story is of creation, which explains why there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Creationism in Public Schools Essay Creationism in Public Schools Teaching Creationism in Schools The question as to whether or not creationism should be taught in public schools is a very emotional and complex question. It can be looked at from several different angles, its validity being one of them. Despite the lack of evidence to support the fundamentalist idea of creationism, that in itself is not enough to warrant its exclusion from the curriculum of public schools in the United States. The question is far more involved and complex. One way to address the question is whether or not creationism, in itself, is a valid idea to be taught in public schools. The answer to this can be yes. Not only should a student in American public schools learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem in scientific creationism, and what I see as a reason for its exclusion from the science classroom in public schools, is the fact that it looks as if, from the outside, the whole theory that it rest on is simply a contortion of the traditional version of creation described in Genesis, custom– made to fit in with Darwin's theory of evolution. R. M. Hare would probably say that scientific creationism is simply a modification of the story of creation in Genesis, to fit into the ÒblikÓ of the religious fundamentalist. A blik, as Hare describes it, is a pre–set worldview held by all people, in which they draw from when forming certain opinions on any particular subject. In the case of religious fundamentalist, whose faith in the validity of the Book of Genesis is an essential part of their blik, it becomes necessary for them to contort their literal view of the Book of Genesis into a form that is scientifically acceptable. For this reason, creation science still does not have a place in the science classroom of public schools. Another problem with scientific creationism is that it would exclude the idea of a random beginning. No theory could ever be tested to find origins because it would conflict with scientific creationism. Scientific creationism would be, in essence, a lesson on science halting efforts to find creation, if it is possible at all. It may, however, be acceptable as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I have used information from other sources, I have provided appropriate in–text citations and a corresponding list of references. I also understand that evidence of plagiarism may result in a failing grade for this course. Luis Martinez Luis Martinez Professor Robert Shapiro PHIL–285 Philosophy of Human Nature November 1st, 2016 Genesis VS Plato The story of Genesis, and the great philosopher Plato both depict a certain view on human nature. Genesis demonstrates that humans live on in their families. While, Plato creates this idea that we are in constant search of THE GOOD. In this paper, I will compare and contrast how these works answer three important questions; What are human beings like? What kind of world do they live in? What is the best life for humans to live? Finally, I will explain which one of these views better represents what human beings are really like. The first book of the Hebrew bible, Genesis, tells the story of how an all powerful God created the Earth and all who inhabit it. The story is quite familiar even to those who do not belong to regions that utilize the hebrew bible. However, the story quickly becomes unfamiliar once the story is analyzed from a philosophical standpoint. A great example is Eve, people know her as the one who "disobeyed" God and is the first to sin. But, why is Eve often interpreted as the evil one? Why is she criticized for being the ... In a Facebook Post, Answers in Genesis founder Ken Ham announced that the 500–foot–long Ark Encounter will permanently show rainbow lights. He explained that the rainbow symbolizes God's promise for His people in Genesis 6, Todd Starnes relays. "We now have new permanent rainbow lights at the Ark Encounter so all can see that it is God's rainbow and He determines its meaning in Genesis 6," said Ham in his Facebook announcement. • 17. Creation And Creation : The Biblical View Of Creation Freund 1 "In the beginning" is a common phrase known to many, however, many know little about it. Only when you dig deeper and truly seek to understand the mysteries underlining the Biblical view of creation can you uncover the secrets of so much more. Along with the the discussion of the Biblical view of creation, it is also necessary to assess when this event occurred, and what further impact in had on later history. According to Genesis, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Even in all of its simplicity, it would seem that this very verse embodies the Biblical view of creation in its entirety. Delving deeper within the realm of creation, however, its simplistic nature soon disintegrates as this purposeful, historical account unfolds. From start to finish, this intricately woven account encompasses an all–knowing and omnipotent God who renders forth in six, 24–hour days, the earth and all of its creation. In the course of six, short days, all of creation sprang forth at the hands of the almighty God. It began on day one, "God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1): Including the vast expanse of our cosmic world and far–reaching terrestrial sphere casting forth light, distinguishing between night and day. On the second day, creating a rift between waters, God brought forth the sky (Genesis 1:6). On the third day, land and sea, plants and vegetation appeared. God spoke and it was so (Genesis 1:9–13). • 19. Comparing Three Creation Stories One of biggest mysteries that people have been trying to answer for centuries is, "How was the earth created?" Every culture and religion has a different story that attempts to describe how we came to be. When we pick different creation stories from cultures and religions it's interesting to see what similarities and differences arise. This paper will analyze some of the similar and different aspects of three different creation stories. The first creation story is described in the Bible in Genesis 1–2:3, the second in Genesis 2:4–24, and the third is the creation story of the Kono people of Guinea called Death, and Life and Death. It's fascinating that each creation story hints at a common purpose for humans. In Genesis 1, humans are given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Genesis 1, the creating power, God, creates plants on day three of the six days of creation. Living creatures (excluding humans) were created on the fifth and sixth days (ESV Gen 1:11–25). In the Genesis 2 creation account, the Lord God plants the Garden of Eden after he creates the man. He then creates animals in the same way he created the man and the man names all the animals (ESV Gen 2:7–20). In Death, and Life and Death, the god Alatangana consolidates the earth from mud, creates plants to cover the earth, and then creates animals to live on it ("Death, and Life and Death"). The creating power in Genesis 1 is referred to as "God" (ESV Gen 1:1–31; 2:1–3). What's interesting is that in Genesis 2, each time the creating power is referenced; he is referred to as "the Lord God" (ESV Gen. 2:4–25). Christians believe that "God" and "the Lord God" are the same being, but it's interesting that they aren't described with the same name. Still, both Genesis accounts creating powers differ from the Kono people's creation story Death, and Life and Death where the creator of all living things is named Alatangana and the creator of light and death is named Sa ("Death, and Life and ... Review of "A comparative study of the Integrated Kinetic Energy in the tropical cyclones in the north east Pacific and the north Atlantic basins" Summary: The authors compare 2004–2013 TCs in the North Atlantic and East Pacific basins, using IKE (TC extended best track data set) and rainfall (TRMM–3B42). The introduction defines the concept of IKE and explains that a comparison of IKE in the EP and AL basins will be carried. The following analysis provides the seasonal cycle of IKE and TC count, then shifts the focus to: the relationship between IKE and TC genesis location the differences between the upper and lower terciles of IKE in terms of: TC track density TC location at maximum IKE TC genesis location the relationship between IKE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why is the analysis focused on genesis (Fig 2 and 5, Table 3)? Is there a hypothesized difference between AL and EP when it comes to the relationship between location of genesis and maximum IKE? What would that hypothesized difference tell us? What does the seasonal cycle of IKE and TC count (Fig 1) tell us that is new? Are there expected differences with Fig 1 from Misra et al. (2013)? If TC size explains most of IKE, the fact that IKE peaks in the fall should not come as a surprise: Liu and Chan (1999) and Merrill (1984) have provided analyses of the size of TCs and have already established that their size peaks in the Fall (Sept–Oct). Note that the direct assertion that IKE is more sensitive to TC size than peak wind speed is nowhere to be found in either Powell and Reinhold (2007), Misra et al. (2013) or Kozar and Misra (2015). In fact, Misra et al. (2013) state that "the peak in TIKE is associated with a corresponding peak in larger sized storms in September" because they also determined that there is a tendency to larger TCs in September. Kozar and Misra (2015) note that "IKE is also tied to storm size and the many different processes that govern it." Besides the geometry of the basin and the climatological atmospheric state, are there any other effects that could explain the differences between AL and EP? Similarities Between Science And Science introduction Religion and Science are very compatible; they both provide knowledge and understanding of human nature and the world in which humankind live. Galileo According to Galileo, there are two kinds of truth. One is the truth acquires through intellects, experience, and vital evidence. The second is the truth acquired through bible teachings. The bible is meant to explain topics that are beyond human reasoning, things that cannot be proven by science. Accordingly, religious truth is strongly based on faith; it depends on the teachings of a divine being and not on evidence. Science, on the other hand, contributes knowledge on things that cannot be literally explained by the Bible; every statement made in science must be proven with facts. Nonetheless, these different truths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When used in conjunction, science and religion contribute knowledge that allows people to seal the gaps that may exist in each other's theories. They complete each other. They are both guides that make people life more fulfilling by providing answers to common questions like creation. Conclusion: In conclusion, religion is compatible with science because they are both sources of knowledge and understanding to humankind. They give people, the answers to common questions about existence. The bible allows human beings to gain knowledge in a humble way by establishing a higher power as the source of all knowledge. Science, however, allows human beings to make their own discoveries, using the gifts given to them by the Higher power, to gain knowledge. While religion teaches human beings that some knowledge cannot be proven, science gives them the tools needed to gain evidence of the things that can. Science and religion, when well interpreted, support each other. They complete each other theories by filling each other's gap. This creation story implies that God created all of the universe in an orderly manner, and he was proud of what he had made, especially human beings. I imagine the Israelites, the community that received this story from the Priestly Sources, heard it as a confirmation that the God they worshipped was the correct one. The Israelites were probably accustomed to the creation story from Genesis 2–3 by the time this story was written. Armstrong goes through each of the stories of Genesis and interprets what each story is about and how we can relate it to our own lives. The book of Genesis can be difficult to understand and it holds many mysteries within it, but with the help of Karen Armstrong, we are able to understand the stories of Genesis and what they mean. This is the story of the Bible's first book, raw and unchurched. Karen introduces us one by one to the characters and their stories, making no effort to turn them into saints, for they are nothing like the impossibly and depressingly flawless characters we met in Sunday School. Throughout, the authors of Genesis remind us that we can expect no clear–cut answers. We wrestle with the text, measuring its inconsistent doctrines and contradictory lessons, as we struggle to grasp the character of God. How can God be omnipotent, but powerless to control his creation? How can God be benevolent but a killer; wise but arbitrary; just but partial and unfair; omniscient but ignorant of human yearning? • 31. Genesis And Job Essay In the Bible, the books of Genesis and Job, each give a description of the creation of heaven and earth. They depict different views and styles but share the same idea that God is the creator. Genesis 1–2 is the most popular and well known story that says God created everything in six days and the seventh day was rest. In the book of Job 38–40, the concept of creation was told to Job in order to make him understand why he was suffering and to perceive the ways of God. The first chapter in Genesis defines the beginning as being majestic and analytical. It demonstrates a limited description of how life will continue to be maintained in everyday growth and how the earth will continue to bring food for all living things (Gen. 1:29–30). Genesis also suggest that the Creator was a one time occurance at the beginning of time. It explains what God created each day and in chapter 2 clarifies the creation of man and woman. On the other hand, Job provides imagery and metaphors to help the human mind to wrap around the concept of how the universe was formed. For example, God speaks to Job ... Ken Ham is a young Earth creationist, fundamentalist Christian, and the president of Answers in Genesis (AiG), a Creationist apologetics ministry which operates the Creation Museum. They had a debates about "Is creation a viable model of origins in today's modern scientific era?" They both talked a lot about this topic, but I will only summary a few. There opinions are really depth theories to research. First, Ken Ham started state his opinions. He asked a question,"What is science?" He thinks science has been hijacked by secularists. Science actually means "to know the knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or misunderstanding," but there is different type of knowledges, like experimental or observational science. People created technology from these two methods. Observational science which is for obvious reasons. Some geologists take present–day rates of radiometric decay and rock formation and imagine that the rates have always been the same. That's why they think the earth is so old. But we can not zip back in time to test this for accuracy. Students are really important groups in the world. What they believe depends on what they learn. The public schools science books are using the same word science for observational and historical science. They define science as naturalism and outlaw the supernatural. Theistic Evolution takes on many different aspects in ones' life and can also lead one astray from the true joy of what God has in store for a persons' life. To define theistic evolution one would have to go back and reveal what the belief actually is. It has been said that if one were to take the Bible literally, then that person would be a fool. Those of us who believe in God as creator and author of all that exist must be those fools they speak of and proud of it. Some argue that the wording of Genesis suggests the sun, moon, and stars were actually created on day one but they could not be seen through earth's atmosphere until day four, leading to their placement on day four. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why or why not? The short answer to this question is yes. Genesis's flood story can be thought of as written by other couple sources, authors "J" and "P" (Hays 90). Author "J" is the older manuscript and Author "P" is the redactor. Author "J" is identified because of the use of Yahweh. Author "P" is likely the priestly redactor that would not use the holy name of Yahweh. Priest would instead us the word Lord. Another way source division is identifiable is through doublets that seem to occur throughout the Genesis narrative. Some of the doublets contradict one another therefore leading one to believe there are more than one author. For example, Author "J" states that seven pairs of ritually clean and one pair of unclean animals were taken aboard the Ark then 40 days of rain ensued. The later redactor, Author "P", seems to transpose a different (Babylonian) account of 2 pairs of animals and 150 days of rain (Hays 91) Best explanation is that "P" and "J" has been harmonized over time, both full stories, then redaction by a later ... Article Rebuttal Article Rebuttal Maybelline Torres University of Phoenix BCOM/275 April 17, 2012 Prof. Lourdes Lebrón Bayrón Article Rebuttal In this article rebuttal an analysis will take place on the authors, reliability, credibility, and validity on the account of Noah's flood. The rebuttal will give emphasis on the claims young earth creationist have on the earth's existence period. Additionally, address old earth and young earth theories. Finally identify any fallacies in the argument. For centuries creation theorists have given emphasis to Noah's flood as enough evidence to a universal deluge. Nevertheless, it is understood the ark presented in the Bible had a higher credibility to a local flood. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The following claim states that it can give evidence that all animals and humans originated from occupants of the ark. The people could have descended from the ark inhabitants, but scientist lack evidence on the animals descending from the ark. Finding the ark does not give evidence of the ancestry of all creatures. One way to refute this is consider the Koala in Australia. How did this earthly animal travel to Australia once the ark settled? Traveling this distance would be impossible nevertheless because the flood was local Koalas did not need to be on the ark. Furthermore, the author asserts that locating ark remains forces paleontologists to re–decipher fossils as an effect of the flood, not of many years buildup. Old–earth creationists relates fully with the geological proof of the arks old age existence. There are no findings of the ark, although several informants alleged to have seen it. In reality the ark will never be located, most likely it no longer exists. Noah maybe used the ark wood for rebuilding the society. God declared to Noah never again would He destroy the world with water. Noah was clear he had no use for the ark maybe he dismantled it for constructing material. Moreover, creation theorists Baumgardner, and Barnett claim after the flood the land would have resembled a lifeless wilderness deprived of trees and plants. If the plant and tree seeds floated after the flood it would still take many years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 58. The True Meaning Of The Word Day In Genesis According to Merriam–Webster dictionary, a day is defined as a period of twenty four hours as a unit of time, reckoned from one midnight to the next, corresponding to a rotation of the earth on it's axis. Where did this definition come from? Christians know that a day is defined this way based on the Bible. In Genesis, God explains that the universe was created in 6 days. Many people have searched deeper than the obvious and claim that these "six days" could have been millions of years. So what is true? What does a "day" mean in Genesis? The word "yom" is a Biblical Hebrew word meaning "day". This word means a 24 hour period of time. As we look deeper in the Bible, the answer to this question can be either confusing or simplifying. It can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though some people get confused on this word in the Bible and several of its passages, the Bible clearly explains itself. There are many passages in the Bible that contain the word "day", yet people only question the days of creation rather than questioning any other passage. Enuma Elish Compare and Contrast: Genesis and Enuma Elish Genesis and Enuma Elish (also known as the Epic of Creation,) are often compared by scholars due to their being a shared account between the two. Even though both stories have their similarities, they are indeed very different in almost every way. Genesis has one creator, God, while Enuma Elish has two. Genesis describes God creating sea and land creatures on the fifth day, opposed to Enuma Elish where there are no accounts of this in the Babylonian records. In the chapter of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible, God alone, created the Heavens and the Earth from nothing, he created humans from dust and the sun, moon, stars, and the seasons. • 64. The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically and scientifically, when compared to the other positions of theism and New World creationism. This is due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant proofs that their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the other creationism viewpoints. It does not deny the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1–2, saying that they do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its own belief from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded upon with the explanation of the six days of creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are an extended period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical timeline, but it being a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also justifies the scientific outlook on the creation story. Like how humanity is always discovering new substances and species, information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. When compared to the other viewpoints of creationism, the Old World position has the most evidence. New World and theistic approaches to the origin story have their own pros and cons, but they both have glaring weaknesses. They both ignore and deny the existence of evidence from the other viewpoints. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Genesis 24 A protagonist is the character that drives the action of the plot. In Genesis 24, the main character who drives the plot of the story is Abraham's servant, who has been given the job to find a suitable wife for Isaac. The entire story of Genesis 24 is revolved around the job of the servant and him being divinely introduced to Rebekah, the wife Abraham said to find. Abraham provides specific instructions for his servant in his task to find Isaac a wife; therefore, the action of the story moves from Abraham, which most of this part of Genesis is about, to Abraham's servant. The servant finding Rebekah is a fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham of many descendants given a couple chapters before in Genesis. Additionally, the previous chapter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Rebekah were the main character of the story, the story would have told of her actions before the servant notices her. The writer of the story made sure to frame Rebekah as a secondary character because she is only found because of the directions given to the servant. As mentioned before, Rebekah responded to the servant's request just as he was told the proper wife would. In addition, Rebekah is part of the "house of [the servant's] master's kin" (Genesis 24:27). The servant is the one who asked that Rebekah come right away even though her family objected the notion, which was part of the servant's initial directions (Genesis 24:56). Rebekah is the embodiment of the woman Abraham described to the servant. Being the embodiment means being the outcome of the story, not the protagonist. Also, even when Rebekah has been chosen by the servant, the wedding of Rebekah and Isaac does not take up a large part of the chapter. Genesis 24:67 proclaims that "Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent... and she became his wife". This act of marriage seems to be an afterthought because the servant followed the directions of Abraham, so Isaac knew she was divinely meant to be his wife. The largest part of the chapter was still the servant trying to find the wife for Isaac. If Rebekah were the protagonist, a stronger emphasis would have been placed on this act of marriage between Rebekah and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Evolution Is A Highly Argumentative Topic, Today 's Society Payne 1 Jared Payne English 11 Mrs. Brown 5 December 2014 Pro–evolution: Why? Creation versus evolution is a highly argumentative topic, especially in today's society. A recent debate, between Bill Nye "The Science Guy" and Ken Ham, has sparked even more controversy over this particular topic. A poll administered by Gallup shows that forty–six percent of Americans believe God created humans as they are now ten–thousand years ago, and that the only reliable dating system is the Word of God (Lovan 1). Many others believe that humans have evolved into how they are in present times, and that science, and its ways of dating things, is reliable and correct. Evolution wins over creationism because Bill Nye won the debate with Ken Ham, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some say that Nye won, not only with his facts, but with his style (Chowdhury 2). Because Bill Nye is representing evolutionists, Payne 2 and he beat Ham, who is representing creationists, this is one of few signs that signify that evolution beats creation. Another way that evolution wins over creation is that creationist views threaten the science of the United States. With almost half of the United States' in favor of creation, this could pose a potential threat to US science. Innovation is in jeopardy if everything known about nature and the universe is forgotten by ancient text translated into English. "'The Earth is not 6,000 or 10,000 years old,' Nye said in an interview with The Associated Press, citing scientists' estimates that it is about 4.5 billion years old. 'It's not. And if that conflicts with your beliefs, I strongly feel you should question your beliefs.'" "[Nye also emphasized that] 'If we raise a generation of students who don't believe in the process of science . . . you're not going to continue to innovate'" Bible stories are presented as an alternative to evolution in some states, as approved by lawmakers and school boards. Teachers in Tennessee are protected by a law to let students judge scientific theories, including evolution (Lovan 1). • 70. The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be maintained that the first three days are days in the sense that we now understand them? Our current day is delineated via the earth's rotation in relation to the Sun – no Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the passage itself says this, for it says in Gen. 1:14: "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be . . . for days". It may be objected that, regardless of whether or not we had a distant object in relation to which we might measure the progression of the earth's rotation, it nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by no means clear, for the text itself maintains that the earth was radically and fundamentally different at that time, being "without form and void" (v. 2). As such, any claim that the earth's rotation then was similar to what it is now is based on an assumption: namely, that in spite of the fact that the earth itself was physically different, natural processes such as its rotation were the same then as now. This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled against those who adhere to other interpretations of the days (and correspondingly, the age of the earth) by those with whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar–day interpretation frequently charge those with whom they disagree, whether secular scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural processes in ... • 72. Creation Vs. Evolution Debate The vivid story of the creation account found in Genesis 1 and 2 often gets lost in the question of "how" rather than the question of "why." Desmond Alexander points out that the creation story "often hijacked by those who are almost exclusively preoccupied by the modern debate on the relationship between the biblical view of creation and that of contemporary science" (Alexander 119). Gary Schnittjer helps by adding, "Problems occur when readers use the scriptures to answer their own questions–questions that the biblical text was not designed to answer" (Schnittjer 1048). The creation story is not as much a detailed explanation of how the world was created, but rather a theological description of God's purpose and relationship in creating humanity (Schnittjer 816). Even more, the Genesis account provides a means to interpret the rest of the "the story of which it is a part" (Schnittjer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have come to realize this debate only leads to endless and meaningless conversations that miss the point. Even more, after this week's readings, my eyes have been opened even wider to the wonder of the creation account. What stands out most vividly is God spoke the world into existence. The power of his voice and the obedience of the cosmos are incredible. Yet even more amazing is that God did not speak man into existence, rather he formed him with his hands and then breathed life into him. I knew that is what happened, but I had never picked up on the delicate and closeness of God creating humanity. Also, it should be noted that man is the only thing that did not obey what God spoke to him, which led to the Fall. All in all, Genesis 1 and 2 set the stage for all of Genesis by describing God's relationship with humanity and his desire to dwell among them, which will one day be complete again with the return of ... • 74. Jewish Interpretation Of Genesis 1: 26-28 INTRODUCTION Within the these three verses of Genesis 1:26–28 lies a myriad of interpretive questions upon whose answers stand the weight of our theologies of creation and anthropology. Beyond the interpretation of Genesis 1:26–28 in its original context, the use of the image of God in the New Testament plays a prominent role within Paul's theology of new creation and the glorification of mankind in Christ (hereafter "Paul's image theology," cf. Rm. 1:23; 8:29; 1 Cor. 15:49; 2 Cor. 3:18; 4:4; Col. 1:15; 3:10). Understanding the contemporary Jewish interpretation of Genesis 1:26–28 with special emphasis on the image of God will assist in a fuller understanding of Paul's image theology. Thus, we will set out to uncover early Jewish interpretation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the apocryphal Wisdom of Solomon (first century, BC ) we find Wisdom directing human history including creation. In Wisdom 9:1–2 we see explicit reference to personified Wisdom forming man. Further, in Wisdom 10:1 we see personified Wisdom protecting the "first–formed father of the world, when he alone had been created." Clearly, the author of Wisdom in the first century saw Wisdom as a present figure at the beginning of God's creative work. Philo adds further support here as is found in his Questions and Answers on Genesis, "And who is to be considered the daughter of God but Wisdom, who is the first–born mother of all things and most of all of those who are greatly purified in soul?" Wisdom in Philo's reasoning seems to have been present as the "mother of all things." Philo not surprisingly takes the "us" of Genesis 1:26–27 further than personified Wisdom though as he writes, "God said, ...'Let us make' indicating more than one. So the Father of all things is holding parley with His powers, whom He allowed to fashion the mortal portion of our soul." This is actually Philo's solution to the problem of evil in mankind – God only created that which is good in man ("that invisible reasoning faculty free from admixture" ), which shows us we are venturing afield from typical early Jewish interpretation of this text into Greek thought. • 76. Answers In Genesis-USA Answers in Genesis resulted from the merging of two Australian creationist organizations in 1980. One was founded in the late 1970s by John Mackay, Ken Ham, and others as Creation Science Educational Media Services. Its founders believed that the established Christian church's teaching of the Bible was being compromised. The group merged with Carl Wieland's Creation Science Association in 1980, becoming the Creation Science Foundation (CSF) that later became Answers in Genesis. In 1987, Ken Ham was seconded by CSF to work for the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) in the United States, then in 1994 left ICR to found Answers In Genesis–USA. Later that year, CSF in Australia and other countries changed their names to Answers In Genesis so that all the sister organizations would share the same identity. • 78. Creation In Genesis And Genesis How the world people are living in right now was created in the beginning? Humankind has been asking this question throughout the centuries, and some people throw some answers to this question. People in Israel answer that God created the heaven and earth in the beginning while Babylonians answer that Marduk establishes the natural order and dwelling for gods after win a battle. The reason that these two ethnic groups respond differently is because they have been walked through different history and worldview. Enuma Elish, which is the Babylonian creation epic, and the book of Genesis in the Bible, what Israelites believe, shows little similar sense but totally different idea of creation. From the first part of each writing, book of Genesis and Enuma Elish, the similarity and difference can be found. In the beginning, the world in both Genesis and Enuma Elish does not have shape. There is nothing but just emptiness before creation in Genesis: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters" (New International Version 1:1–2). Enuma Elish also does not have things to be called but just gods are existed: "When on high no name was given to heaven / Nor below was the netherworld called by name, / Primeval Apsu was their progenitor. / And matrix–Tiamat was she who bore them all, / They were mingling their waters together, / No canebrake was intertwined nor thicket matted close. / When no gods at all had been brought forth, Nor called by names, non destinies ordained" (Enuma Elish Tablet 1 1–8). Furthermore, both God and gods are staying in the water in the beginning of the creation. It is interesting that the water is mentioned in both writings. However, although there are some similarities in both, there is a radical difference inherent between both stories. Genesis is written and fiducially focusing on the one and only God that no other god is mentioned. It simply says God creates the world. In contrast, Enuma Elish mentions two names Apsu and Tiamat and explains that they are the parents of other gods. Two books are divided into two different ideas of monotheism and ...
