"Walk the Line" is a biographical film about the life and times of country 's bad boy, Johnny Cash. The movie starts out midway through Cash 's
career at the legendary В‘Folsom Prison Concert ' of 1968. Before you see Cash perform at the prison ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My favourite scene with the 2 of them was near the end when there in concert singing "Ring of Fire". It 's one of my favourite Johnny Cash songs and
these 2 managed to convince me with this performance that they were actually John and June. Without these 2 actors I don 't think this movie would
have been as remarkable as they managed to make it.
One film that was very close to this one was last years highly famous, "Ray". The biography of blind musician ray Charles. Both are high profile
motion pictures about major recording stars who recently died (Cash passed away in 2003, four months after the death of his wife, June Carter).
The music the 2 of them play is different, but there are very similar plot fundamentals, among which are drug use. "Walk the Line" I think is a
better film. It 's put together with more style, and it never seems to get boring, unlike "Ray" which near the end seems to drag on for a bit. "Ray"
had much more fantasy as opposed to "Walk the Line" which was all completely based on Cash 's own words. This movie also has a powerful
plotline that "Ray" didn 't, a love story! To me, that 's what made this film much better than "Ray".
Overall I really enjoyed this movie; the only thing I want to complain about is the lack of Bob Dylan. It is a known fact that Dylan single–handedly
revived Cash 's career, yet they only mention him a few times throughout the

Reality Television and The Negative Impact on the...
With a sense of voyeurism millions of Americans tune into reality television every night without much thought of the negative message these show
project. Since 1948 with the inception of Candid Camera viewers have been able to select between scripted television and reality television changing
the nature of at home entertainment. The Millennium marked a change with the Academy of Arts and Science adding the reality genre to the Emmy
Awards, celebrating ordinary people in unscripted situations. However with more and more of theses shows glamorizing negative behavior and social
situations as well as taking away from scripted television and rewarding bad behavior it is no wonder the Millennial and next generations are said to be
doomed.
In recent years there has been an evolution in television networks that focus the majority of their programing on reality television. Bravo which is
owned by NBC originally focused on performing arts and independent films shifted to a focus on pop culture, fashion and celebrities in 2003. The
original content of these shows was ways to better ones self with makeovers, however the birth of the Real Housewives franchise in 2006 brought on a
much more negative trend. With the high saturation of "real" women in different area codes now playing out unscripted but seemingly over–produced
drama comes the negative propaganda that this is how women are suppose to behave. These shows glamorize vulgarity, materialism, drug addiction,
alcohol abuse and

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Daughter Of The Dancers '
The Virtue Of Innocence
Innocence is a glorified trait in nearly any culture around the world. Many strive to keep the innocence they are born with, and plenty others spend a
lifetime attempting to regain the innocence they have lost with age. In the following photos, innocence is a common theme, which each photographer
approaches in a unique way. There is a dull and unsettling truth behind the innocent demonstration of young ladies acting much more mature than their
age. Manuel Alvarez Bravo is one of the premier figures of modern photography and the main photographer among the immense Mexican artists of the
twentieth century. In The Daughter of the Dancers, Bravo illustrates the idea of youthfulness on the verge of loosing its innocence. Sally Mann, a
photographer from the 1980s–90s, caught a reflection of grown–up moves inside the innocence and youth of adolescents in Candy Cigarette through
her utilization of organization, field point, and technique. In 1985 National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry went through Afghan towns
concentrating on the evacuees and recording their hardships. The Afghan Girl is a classical image of lost innocence; the girl was forced to grow up way
to fast. Her innocence did not survive, but she did.
The innocence of children is secured by the individuals who adore them with the goal that they grow up as actually unaffected by preventable
undesirable contributions as could be expected under the circumstances. With her back to the camera,

Empathy Within Leadership In Leaders Eat Last By Simon Sinek
Empathy is being able to understand and share another person's feelings or emotions. It allows a team to develop trust and understand others. Leaders
who express empathy towards their team shows that they truly care about the people within their team.
An example of empathy within leadership would be when both the committee chair and members are understanding and sharing each other's feelings.
For example, if a committee chair is aware that one of his/her member is hosting a big class event that week, the chair would not be putting as much
stress on that member for the week. This is both for the well–being of the member and the committee in general. Likewise, the committee members
would step up in times where the chair is facing difficulties.
In the book, Sinek shows an example of empathy within leadership through Johny Bravo and his team's mission. Although he cannot see, Bravo was
able to comprehend the anxiety of his team on the ground. He related to the feelings of his men below using a scene from a movie. By understanding
and relating to the feelings of those below him, Bravo expressed great empathy towards his team and was able to successfully help his men stay alive.
In Chapter 1 of Leaders Eat Last, Simon Sinek explains the importance of empathy through a classified mission that occurred on August 16, 2002 in
Afghanistan. As twenty–two men travelled through a valley with a "high–value target", Johnny Bravo and his wingman were flying above thick clouds,

Music 's Influence On Music
Music has changed the way people have looked at others, have acted, and how they see the world today. The beginning of music started when
someone discovered that banning on something made a sound. Music became a hideout for people when they needed a place to send their mind.
Musicians are the biggest part of the music and making it the way it is. Certain musicians changed the way people started to look at music in the 60s.
The 60s were a time for standing up for what the country believed it, a time to show the "overpowered" people that they weren 't afraid. People looked
to musicians such as; Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and many others for their influential music. Different types of artists with different

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
Television has been one the most influential pieces of technology as a source for entertainment. During the earliest days of Televisions introduction into
society, there were always shows highlighting the portrayals of mothers cooking and cleaning their homes for their husbands and children. Although, as
time moved on, television and the shows that were channeled on it took a dramatic turn, leaving the days of drama free entertainment as a vast memory.
Today, however, when a person turns on a television and flips through the vastness of channels on their cable network to eventually a channel likeBravo
, the screen goes on to glisten and proceeds to portraying ritzy socialite women dealing with their everyday lives as "housewives". The Real Housewives
of Atlanta deals with the everyday lives of modern–day housewives living in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon thought of these women and their family life, the
reality series displays to its viewers, that practically a significant majority of family life involved in a modern day generation is dramatic, full of
misconceptions and misrepresentations of how people are perceived, and that fame is can be a problem for family life. Reality shows have the allure of
garnering the interest of millions of people around the world with the promise of authenticity and representations of actuality. Producers often use the
strategy of claiming that that these reality shows are almost always completely unscripted and that they simply document the lives of

The Nuclear Bomb Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
Who is good and who is Evil? Many of us go through life thinking that whatever we do must be what is good, never questioning authority and
blindly following a government that is thought to be incapable of doing evil. After World War II, many Americans felt a sense of nationalism. They
were proud of the fact that their military destroyed Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan. However this euphoric patriotism can often blind the holder.
In August of 1945, the United States Military dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There were noble reasons for dropping the
bombs, but surely destroying two entire cities questions the integrity of the United States. So again I ask, who is good and who is evil? After the
events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States was eager to learn more about the impacts of nuclear devices on the environment. The United
States set up several nuclear bomb tests on the Marshall Islands in which they properly planned for. However one test, code named Operation Castle,
went horribly wrong. Scientists involved in the test claim they expected an explosive yield of four to six megatons, but instead a yield of fifteen
resulted. For reference, this is one thousand times greater than the yields of both the Hiroshima and the Nagasaki nuclear bombs (Huard). Many people
believe this was merely a lapse in judgement, however I believe there is evidence that the United States government intentionally created a disaster in
order to study the effects of

It was so bad it actually made the Kardashian's oeuvre look like Emmy–winning material."The women seem to always have some type of complication
in their hands. The husbands let their wives do whatever they feel like engaging in, and the children are spoiled brats who have complete liberty.
Occasionally, this type of scenario is not seen, however, especially when speaking about newest housewife and former model, Cynthia Baily. Cynthia
is the only housewife on the series that has no obscure drama that involves futile, petty less girl fights. For the rest of the southern women,
unfortunately, drama is their way of life. Images of the "housewives" are excessively pictured on the internet. Bravotv.com has pages full of group
photographs of the women in their exotic southern outfits, sparking smiles and diva personas. Pictured on the first page is a photograph from
Bravotv.com, featuring the cast of The Housewives of Atlanta. It is intriguing to note that this portrait has been cropped together as one unit. In reality,
however, each woman is a picture in its self that the producers of the show pushed together to appear as one photograph. Each woman is given certain
characteristics to make them, in turn, an actual character on a show. Characters are needed so that the viewer's cans stereotype each woman, thus
providing a cast of characters. This provides an array of misconceptions of who these women

Analysis Of William Shakespeare 's ' Henry Iv '
Shakespeare is one of the most widely known playwrights of history, and has been hailed for his plot structure and character development. An
example of this being one of his most noticed and widely regarded characters in Henry IV Part 1, Falstaff. His character immediately gets the
attention of the audience through his variance in personality from most others of his day and life style. Falstaff is an old, fat, disgraced knight and
Hal's partner in crime. He is always looking for a good time while he eats, drinks, and pisses away all he can get his hands on. A more modern
parallel would be the fiction character Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Both abuse any power or authority thrust upon them. While

So feasibly Falstaff and Jack Sparrow were included in their individual stories so the audience would get hooked on the story line and feel envious
of these characters and their lifestyle. Falstaff may have been put into the story of Henry IV Part 1 because he comes off as more of an actual
person than other characters, making the play more real to the audience. This is supported by how Falstaff takes advantage of his position given to
him by Prince Hal for the war. Instead of gathering the bravest fighters he can so he can give his all to the cause, he finds the lowest of the low and
takes bribes for letting certain people stay out of the war. Albert Tolman covers the idea of how real Falstaff is in an article he wrote, "Why Did
Shakespeare Create Falstaff?" Tolman asserts: "Of the characters of the great Dramatist [Shakespeare] Hamlet, Cleopatra, Iago, and Falstaff are
among the most marvelous. They are portrayed with such fullness and intensity that they seem to outrun the very laws of their being. They escape
from the world of fiction and are. Historical characters are less real than they." This is supported by Falstaff's take on the honor of death in battle.
"Well, 'tis no matter; honour pricks me on. Yea, but how if honour prick me off when I come on? How then? Can honour set
–to a leg? No. Or an arm?
No. Or take away the grief of a wound? No. Honour hath no skill in surgery, then? No. What is honour? A word. What is in that word "honour"? What is

Seattle Pitting Research Paper
On March 23, 1954, Seattle newspapers reported citizens finding pits and glass bubbles within their car windshields at a town 80 miles from Seattle.
Police investigated and initially brushed it off as vandalism, albeit without much proof. It did not seem like a serious case, after all...until more reports
of similar damages popped up on April 14th from another town 65 miles away, and on that same evening, in Seattle itself. Hundreds of people phoned
Seattle police between the 14th and 15th, reporting the same pittings and dings in their windshields. Seattle citizens entered a state of confusion and
paranoia, to the point where the mayor had begun to look to President Eisenhower for help when not even the police could find the cause for this....

Such dire–sounding headlines only fueled the people's fear of nuclear war more. Upon hearing news of the affected fishermen and the sheer power of
such H–bombs, people began to fear not only of other countries, like Soviet Russia, planning to develop similar, if not more destructive hydrogen
bombs, but American bomb testings affecting them. "Following atmospheric testing of hydrogen bombs in 1954, people in and around Seattle,
Washington began to report mysterious "pitting" damage to auto windshields. [...] The incident was shortly followed by a nationwide rush to buy
fallout shelter plans" (Miller 136) The H–bomb testings seemingly spelling doom, according to 1950s media, did not help survival plans make people
feel any safer, either. "The film, Duck and Cover, was shown to schoolchildren beginning in 1950. The cartoon turtle, the cheerful theme song, and the
practical advice were supposed to reassure children who might worry about an atomic attack. Instead, the images of little Johnny diving off his bicycle
convinced children that the bombs could fall at any moment and gave them nightmares" (Walbert). The 1950s was a time where many were scared of
being under nuclear attack, children and adults alike. Thus, the unexplainable windshield pittings in Seattle had people easily jumping to a conclusion of
nuclear fallout being behind the pittings. Those in Seattle who were "in support of this view ... claimed that they found tiny, metallic–looking particles

Ecological Effects of Anti Communism Strategies by the...
During the early stages of the Cold War (1945–1954), the United States became so dedicated to stopping the spread of communism that they
completely ignored the potential ecological effects of their strategic decisions, signifying a complete disconnect from contemplative ecology.
During this period under the Truman Administration, there was an overwhelming societal belief that national security concerns trump environmental
safety. As a matter of fact, there was zero concern from the federal government towards environmental safety, as evidenced by the United States
Federal Government Spending for the Fiscal Year of 1950. Zero concern equalling zero dollars being spent on 'pollution abatement', and most appalling

For the consequences of wiping out American cities with atomic weapons would result in the simultaneous destruction of Soviet cities from an
American counter–attack. The ultimate result would be mutually assured destruction on both sides. The ecological reprocussions from such a scenario
would be disasterous. Both the Americans and the Soviets had enough nuclear weapons to not only wipe each other off the map, but also enduce a
global nuclear winter–which is when the nuclear fallout is so thick it blocks out the sun, lowering the global climate, killing of plantlife, animal life
which depended on that plantlife, and ultimately causing a complete food chain disruption. Hell on Earth as we know it.
Fortunately, worldwide nuclear winter was only a possibility, never a reality. But for some people, the reprocussions of the use of nuclear weapons are
very real. The United States tested 67 nuclear weapons in Bikini Atoll from 1946–1958. Bikini Atoll, which belonged to a conglomerate of 23
islands–the Marshall Islands–was formerly inhabited by nearly 5000 bikinians before they were voluntarily evacuated in order to begin nuclear testing.
Many of the Bikinians resided on nearby Rongelap atoll, until fallout from the Castle Bravo Hydrogen Bomb test in 1954 shrouded the atoll in a cloud
of radioactive fallout, forcing them to once again relocate to another island. The US Government declared Bikini atoll habitable in 1970, and

Operation Crossroads Essay
What happened to Bikini Atoll when the United States had a nuclear weapons test series? Operation Crossroads was a nuclear test that was held
during the summer of 1946 at Bikini Atoll intended to study the effect of nuclear weapon. There were a total of three tests, Able, Baker, and Charlie.
The first test was codenamed Able. The 23 kiloton bomb was dropped from the B–29 Superfortress Dave's Dream at July 1, 1946. The bomb detonated
at an altitude of 520 feet and 1,500 to 2,000 off from the target ships. The second test was codenamed Baker. The 23 kiloton bomb was put 90 feet
underwater. The bomb caused many unusual phenomena that a conference was held two months later to define new terms for use in descriptions and

Socrates : A Man By The Name Of Socrates
In 469 B.C. a man by the name of Socrates was born. Socrates was a very wise man that cared about doing the right thing. He believed that the best
ways to develop ideas was in the give and take of conversation, and that the best way to educate people was to ask them a series of questions leading
in a particular direction (now named "Socrates method). Socrates had been quick to identify the drawbacks of democracy, and he had also been the
teacher of two men who in different ways harmed Athens: Alcibiades and Critias. Which made the parents of the children that Socrates had taught
very upset and angry. Granting all this, it lead to the Trial of Socrates 399 B.C. During this trial Socrates expressed his view of death by using his
question–and–answer method, for which he was famous for and what seemed to have gotten him in trouble. Socrates did not write so we have to
depend on on what others wrote, and by doing that we now get to see the diverse ways people read and understand what was written about his
speech. My chosen primary source, Socrates View on Death, is important, because it gives one view of Socrates speech while my outside source,
Ancient Greece, gives a slightly more in depth view. In my primary source, Socrates' View of Death, Socrates talks about death. As the source states,

Genre and Narrative Establishment in Edward Scissorhands and Sleep Hollow by Tim Burton
Genre is the French word for 'type'. Type is the kind of text it is. The genre of a film text may be Sci–Fi, Horror, Action, Romantic, Comedy, etc. In
most films, the genres are combined, this is known as a 'hybrid genre'. Narrative of a film is the structure or order in which the plot (sequence of
event) is presented to an audience. This piece of coursework is going to discuss how Tim Burton establishes genre and narrative in the opening five
minutes of two films, 'Edward Scissorhands' and 'Sleepy Hollow'.

Credits in films are very important because it gives the audience an idea of what the genre of the film is. Credits at the beginning of films and it

sees his name in the credit, they automatically know that there's going to be a bit of comedy in the film. One major character in both films where
played by Johnny Depp. Before the film credits in Edward Scissorhands the audience can see that the 20th Century fox logo is covered in snow. This

younger years. His father farmed and when the farms were not doing so well in the beginning of the 30's his father packed his family up and moved
them to Dyess County in northeastern Arkansas. There was government assistance there to be had. The government provided Johnny's family with a
house, barn and some farm land. This was so that their family could raise cotton. His family stayed there and made a home finally. His father never

Johnny would pick up drinking and doing drugs like his father had done when he was smaller. All this drove Johnny into depression. He never
really liked to talk about it but it was known that he wasn't happy in his life like he could have been. Even right up until the end of his life he was
abusing drugs. It was like he always tried to mask the pain but it never worked. He went into the military and went to the Korean War as a Morris
code decoder. He couldn't really make a living doing anything else where he was from due to the economy so he enlisted. While he was in the
military he picked up playing the guitar very well and making music. At first he was mortified that people there partied, womanized and swore but
as the years went on he too picked up these bad habits. When he got home from the war he got married to he first wife Vivian and had three
daughters. He worked very hard at this time of his career traveling and singing. This is where he was introduced to his drug habit. One day he was
driving and a friend of his offered another friend a drug to stay awake. Johnny asked if he could have one and it rejuvenated him to the point of not
sleeping for an entire day. He loved the energy that it gave him but wasn't fond of how he felt when his high was over. He finally divorced from his
first wife Vivian because of his being not home and his womanizing nature. In time he married June Carter and had a son named John with

Essay about Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash
Which Version Of "Hurt" Would You Prefer?
Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash The song "Hurt" written by Trent Reznor and originally performed by his band Nine Inch Nails is a
melancholy, haunting song. Nine Inch Nails' version was recorded in 1994 and rerecorded and released by Johnny Cash in 2002. Each of the
performers has a style, which some people would argue is at opposite ends of the spectrum of popular music; one is what is referred to as "Industrial
Rock", the other is country. Indeed, the musical genres are diverse; however, the song "Hurt" transcends the boundaries between old and new, hard and
soft, and especially the differences and similarities between these men. Nine Inch Nails is known for their industrial rock ... Show more content on

Reznor is not only a performer; he regularly produces records for other artists ("The Nine Inch Nails Wiki," 2012). The story goes that Cash's record
producer, called and asked Reznor for permission to "cover the song 'Hurt'." Sharples states, "It was as if Trent Reznor unconsciously wrote it for Mr.
Cash" (2011). Trent Reznor was flattered that someone with Johnny's musical talent and long–standing status in the music world would even be
interested in interpreting his song. When Trent first heard the final copy of Johnny's version, Trent stated, ". . .it felt like somebody kissed your
girlfriend" ("The Nine Inch Nails Wiki," 2012). According to Sharples, it would be some four months later that Trent and his music team would
see Johnny's video for the song. It was then that "Reznor was flattered, honored, and moved to tears by the results" (2011). Reznor says. "By the
end I was really on the verge of tears. There was, like, this moist clearing of our throats and then, 'Uh, OK, let's get some coffee.'' (Sharples, 2011).
After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Trent became angry at the lack of response of the government. He had interest in New Orleans because his
studio was a place he perfected his sound and made music that earned "Platinum" status in sales. Reznor played a benefit telethon concert to aid the
American Red Cross and sang the song "Hurt" with the lyrical changes made by Johnny

Music of the South
As you are driving down the road of the countryside of the American South, you see the dry fields of grass spread for miles. You turn on the radio and
all you hear is country music or the blues. This is the culture and music of the South. The South has two types of music, country music of the whites
and the blues of the blacks. Due to the isolation and conservatism of the South, the South had their own forms of rural music. First, we look at the
blues and how grief can become a form of popular music. Great blues singers include Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, B.B. King, and Muddy Waters.
Secondly, we look at the origins of country music. Examples of great country singers include Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and Randy

addition, one of the great male blues singers was Muddy Waters. Waters was born on April 4, 1915 in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. His nickname was
McKinley Morganfield–Muddy Waters and was raised by his grandmother in Clarksdale. Waters was raised in the heart of the blues music which
influenced his life in many ways. At the age of 13, Waters worked at a farm and learned how to played the harmonica. Later, he learned how to play
the guitar and mastered the "bottleneck" style. He recorded folksong with the Library of Congress field collectors which helped him gain experience
in performing and also helped improve his vocal skills. Next, he moved to Chicago during the middle of the war and performing at house parties or
small taverns. He made his first recording with Columbia Records but they were never published. After, he recorded with Aristocrat–later
Chess–Records which include "I Can't Be Satisfied/I Feel Like Going Home". He formed a country group and started to record the Delta Mississippi

There are a few major things that influenced Cash in his youth. When Cash was twelve years old, "his brother Jack was killed in a farming
accident" ("Johnny Cash" 1). Most people believe that this accident caused the pain and rebellion Cash shows in his music. Not only did Jack's death
influence Cash's personality, it influenced his style of music as well. By listening to Cash's music, it is very evident that there is sorrow and wonder in
his heart. Cash grew up listening mainly to hymns in his Baptist church ("Johnny" 2). He listened to hymns by all of the great country music stars of the
time, such as the Carter family and Ernest Tubb, and that caused his style of music to be bare and more like folk music ("Johnny" 2). By listening to
Cash's music, it is easy to see that Cash used very few instruments. Cash's first few albums pushed the barriers of country music and proved that his
music would always be completely unique for the time period.
Cash's adult life was interesting to say the least. After Cash got out of the Air Force in 1954, "he married Vivian Liberto" ("Johnny Cash" 1). This
marriage was the first step in getting a life started for Cash. Cash started playing in a trio and got signed by an independent label, Sun Records, who
also worked with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and many other artists that challenged the course of mainstream music ("Johnny" 2). Cash was finally

Essay on Social Networking: A Modern Day Freak Show
The carnival grotesque, with its freak shows and abnormal humans, was very popular and controversial back in the late 18th to early 19th century, by
then it had matured into a distinct form of entertainment. In the 21st century, has the concept become dated? Has the freak show been revealed for the
mistreatment and subjugation of many poor human beings? We live in times where many things that were once discriminated are now accepted and
many kinds of people recognized as members of society and although there are instances that would challenge that notion, it is only a minority. This
represents the progress mankind has made to understand one another. But has the idea of the freak show been abandoned with this new period? It is

The social media sites allow us to upload and express our identity. Of course there is debate on insults over Facebook post online, but debaters
argue social networking is a new field of communicating there is no social conditioning really to establish how to properly act online compare to
how different from how we act in real life. It is also with social media that even when we point out the freak show and in some way degrade the
person, it leads to a positive matter. (Observers) For example, the article, "Serious documentary or freak show" depicts a medical professional
journey in observing a clan of deformed natives. The clan was being "sensationalize" by providing programming and donations to them for animals
rights regardless it is a cartoon. However because of this, the clan got money and medical treatment for themselves (Koppel 325). That is an example
of exploiting the deformities; it actually helped the clan despite a loss in privacy and dignity. That is true, that social networking has allowed us to
communicate with more people. We are social creatures; we enjoy the company of others but are sometimes limited because of distance situations,
language barriers, and even failure to understand one another. Social networking is a concept that has received an upgrade along with society. These
upgrades are sites like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and etc. They are the new ways we socialize

Dr. Cash And The Depression
This is about Johnny R. Cash and the depression that consumed his life after the death of his wife Mrs. June Carter Cash who passed away in
May 2003. In this case study you will read about Mr. Cash's life from childhood till present day. The study will show how I have diagnosed Johnny
Cash with Major Depressive Disorder as well as Alcohol, Stimulant and Sedative Use Disorder from prior drug and alcohol abuse. It is important
to note Johnny states he has been in remission from drugs and alcohol for 40+ years which classifies as sustained remission. I do discuss how he
can possibly recover from this disorder. I have chosen the method of family therapy and behavior changes. Mr. Cash will greatly benefit from a
strong support system in contrast to the confinement he has chosen. It is my belief with family present to offer love and support it will change his
thoughts and destructive behavior. My goal with this type of therapy is to show Johnny that he is loved and wanted. Also that there is a way to be
happy and have peace again and while overcoming depression and continuing his sustained sobriety. The purpose of this case study is to reveal that
John R. Cash has depression and has suffered from this disorder for many years. Johnny Cash has had an interesting past and some of it hints to signs
of previous depression. This study will show that depression can hit anyone, even those that people admire and want to be like someday.

Analysis of Roger Ebert's "Finding Neverland" Film Review
"Finding Neverland" is a recently released motion picture starring acclaimed actors Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, and directed by Marc Forster
("Monsters Ball") Personally, I loved the movie and It was hard to find a critic that gave the movie a negative review, so I stopped trying to find
someone to argue with and I came across the king of all critics, Roger Ebert. I usually don't agree with his reviews, so I figured we would clash on this
one, but surprisingly we came to agree on many aspects.

shameless Earl of Rochester." He also ignores Kate Winslet's performance and the great job she did.
One thing that I noticed he didn't get into very much was the sexual side of the film. I was glimpsing over a few other articles on the movie and a lot of
reviewers made comments on how Depps character was impotent, and had a thing for little boys. "And though the film flirts with the suggestion that
Barrie's relationship with the boys may have had unsavory connotations, something that has been much speculated upon, the evidence seems to indicate
that Barrie, an extremely short and unattractive fellow with none of the dapper attraction of the handsome Depp, was probably impotent, and that was
the source of the dissatisfaction in his marriage."––– Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press. I can see where this statement is coming from since they touch
upon the subject in the film, but the director did a good job in making sure that Depp's character was not creepy, but yet like a child himself. And
Depp plays the role with such innocence that you would never question the fact that the boys are simply his muses and he loves that family. He
pretends to be a part of it, and it is the only thing that

Prohibition and Al Capone
Out of the turmoil and the collapse of law and order in the 1920's, perhaps the most recognized figure to emerge from the time is Al Capone. "The
New York Times said of Al Capone that he was "the symbol of a shameful era, the monstrous symptom of a disease which was eating into the
conscience of America. Looking back on it now, this period of Prohibition in full, ugly flower seems fantastically incredible. Capone himself was
incredible, the creation of an ugly dream"." (www.umich.edu) He impacted society through his ruthless tactics, secret alliances, and penetrant for
violence typified by the St. Valentine's Day massacre. Capone controlled many businesses in Chicago such as speakeasies, gambling houses, brothels,
horse and race tracks, etc. at an approximated income of $100,000,000 a year. For several years, Al Capone was never convicted for the crimes he
committed, and when he did, he had an alibi or there was never sufficient evidence against him. Al Capone had more power in society than most of
the political leaders did during that time period. It took Al Capone his whole life to achieve the power he had in the Roaring 20's. Alphonsus Capone,
best known as Al Capone, was born on January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn New York. At the age of fourteen, he dropped out of school and became a
member of the Five Point Gang in Manhattan. He started to work at a Brooklyn bar called the Harvard Inn, and this is when Al Capone received his
nickname "Scarface" after being in a fight.

A Comparison of Two Advertisements Essay examples
A Comparison of Two Advertisements
Advertising is a way of publicizing a product that you want to sell. There are many of different things to advertise, such as clothes, shoes, cars,
watches etc. Advertising promotes the latest goods that are out in the shops. Advertising effects me everyday because every time I see a advertisement
it attracts me to the product and I think about buying it or saving up to buy it.

The Rover streetwise advert has pictures of daily life things such as coffee, donuts, a football, children's Wellingtons boots and a shopping trolley
with groceries inside the trolley. This indicates that the car is a family car and is aimed at married women mainly but can also be used by a
family man to drive to and from work. The slogan for the advert "shrugs of life's little challenges" is related to the pictures for example the child's
muddy Wellington boot. The donut would represent the father who is hungry on the way home or to work, the shopping trolley would represent
that the car is useful for a family shopping spree. The advert also uses the word 'Bump' which is saying that even if a heavy load is in the car it can
still go over speed bumps. I like the way the advert creates an image of characters in the readers mind, although you cannot see a physical person
(image) but the pictures imply their existence. For example, like when I saw the picture of the Wellingtons, an image of a little boy was the first
thing I thought of. The advert tells stories of different family lives because each picture relates to many things in everyday life. I wouldn't buy this
car because it's Rover, and I don't like rovers I don't think they are good quality cars. However the way this car is designed is nice, it is an attractive car
and I wouldn't mind driving it. I appreciate this

The Prohibition Of The 18th Amendment
With the 18th amendment passed came about a new era, an era where the government was unable to enforce the laws. The 18th amendment had banned
alcohol creation and consumption. The reason the amendment was passes was because workers became addicted to liquor ultimately becoming
ineffective workers. The 18th amendment gave young desperate men the chance to make big money selling liquor. Eventually selling liquor will
become the gateway for these men to becoming gangsters. Through the years of the Prohibition three men would lead the gangster into a new style of
organized crime unseen ever before. Al Capone, Dutch Schultz and Charles "Lucky" Luciano became the big three gangsters that led the era into a new
direction of organized crime.
Although many gangsters came from an impecunious and or illiterate families, Al Capone's family was an educated family. His father, Gabriele,
was educated and from Naples, where he had earned a living as a barber. Al Capone had lived in an area where crime did not influenced him but
when he moved he had met John Torrio. John Torrio was a big time gangster at the time and it was Torrio that would teach Capone how to run a

Colonialism began in 1500s by European nations such as France, Portugal, England, and Spain.
European nations began to colonize through Americas, India, Middle East, and South East Asia.
Part of the logic behind colonialism was to "modernize" the colonized countries. Various

A Brief Look at Alphone Capone
BACKGROUND INFORMATIONAlphonse Capone was born January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York. He was Gabriel and Teresa Capone's, fourth
of nine children; his parents were Italian immigrants. At the age of 14 Capone was expelled from school for assaulting a female teacher. Capone then
started working for Johnny Torrio as a bouncer at one of his brothels; this is when Capone really began to get exposed to the mobster life. He was
exposed to the mobster life because Johnny Torrio was one of Brooklyn's most notorious mobsters. (Gottesman & Brown)
Not too long after working as a bouncer, Al took a blade to the face and that's how he got the nickname "Scarface". He was soon welcomed into the
Five Points Gang where he partook in burglary, prostitution, long–sharking, and extortion. (Dictionary of American Biography) In late 1919– early
1920's, Torrio moved to Chicago to partner up with mobster, Jim Colosimo and took young Al Capone with him (he was about 20–21). Capone was now
a part of the "Outfit"; a mobster organization that was ran by Jim Colosimo (Gottesman & Brown); he was in complete control of the prostitution trade

Analysis Of The Real Housewife In Popular Culture
The reappropriation of the housewife in popular culture is not only prevalent through fictional media but has also become popular in reality

the release of The Real Housewives of Orange County which followed the lives of a group of affluent women living in Southern California as they
went about their daily life. Following the world wide success of the original show six follow up series have since been created, all following the
same premise but set in different cities across America. These series follow the lives of women who live in gated communities and creates drama in
discovering what is hidden behind said gates. The very title of the show itself is interesting as taking into consideration the women in which the
series revolve around, The Real Housewives appears to be a somewhat paradoxical name. Although some of the women in the show are married and
live within the domestic sphere, the majority of women have successful careers out with the home and a significant number of them are no longer
married or have never been so. This raises the question, why are women who are not housewives represented as being so? What does this say about
the portrayal of married and indeed of single women within popular culture? The Real Housewives franchise positions women as being independent,
powerful and successful regardless of being either with

understanding of her mental strength, after everything living in the bush has thrown at her, being reduced to tears and physically beaten she stays
strong. Willing to endure even more the environment can throw at her. Burton also uses flashbacks to add depth to Alice's character; the flashbacks
are symbolic of the decline in her imagination, her willingness to try the 'impossible' and a symbol of her conformity. These flashbacks are also a
sad reminder of the passing of her father; he was one to encourage the use of her imagination and believing in impossible things. Her current

Effective Television : Reality TV Vs. Reality Shows
In the last decade, television has converted from scripted based programming to reality based programming. Although the content is largely contrived,
it's intent is to portray each character in his or her own element. Historically, television and virtually every other form of media have used stereotyping
to appeal to a certain demographic. But the use of subtle and more subliminal messages has become less and less common over the years. Furthermore,
the blatant differences between scripted television shows and reality television are unparalleled. For example, scripted television's mission is to
recreate a reality from the average Americans point of view. Show's that are set in hospitals, fire departments, police departments, or in corporate
settings, usually illustrates the diversity and racial equality that exists in those industries. In contrast, reality shows are vastly different in its
approach. Titles, for instance, reveals much more about the casting, it's storylines and its overall objection. For instance, Basketball Wives, which is
a popular reality show that airs on VH1, it's intent is to reveal the day to day lives of the wives of NBA basketball players. However, the show very
rarely focuses on any positive aspects of their daily endeavors, like raising children or promoting charities. But rather, the show promotes
alcohol–fueled disputes, merciless and materialistic African American and Latina women. Conversely, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reflects a

The beginning of James and the Giant Peach is depressing because of the rickety old dark house and the lighting is very low key making everything
gray and dreary. The only bright object is the one peach on the tree. Tim Burton's uses lighting to create different moods to a scene and it's evident in
all his movies. Lastly, shots and framing are crucial to Tim Burton's films. In the mansion of Edward Scissorhands, Peg is shown at al long shot
making her appear vulnerable. Also, Edward is shown at a long shot which then zooms to make him appear more threatening. Tim Burton uses
close–ups to spook the audience when Jack comes out of the coffin in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Big Fish gives us another example of how
the director uses shots and framing to convey a subtle message. In the movie Edward is seen talking to a giant with the scene being shot and framed
at a low angle making him appear vulnerable in comparison to the giant. The same effect can be appreciated when the main character is shot from a
high angle as is the case of Willie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In this scene Willie is being yelled at by his Dad for eating too much candy.
The scene is shot from a high angle making Willie look insignificant. Shots and Framing are vitals in Tim Burton's movies because they set the point of

The world trembled when America dropped the atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The world trembled once again years later, but this time to
the heavy steps of Godzilla. Along with him came his highly radioactive body leaving trails of radioactive residue. His main abilities were his plasma
breath ray, immunity to normal weapons, and great strength. He was created for a horror movie that showed the effect of what worried the Japanese at
the time– Nuclear weapons. In the movie, he represents pure evil, destroying everything in his path. He is, however, only a product of mankind, and
cannot help that fact. What drew the great beast from the ocean depths? Godzilla was created by H–Bomb testing at Bikini Atoll, 1954. The director of

The U.S. began their destruction of the island. Anuclear weapon is "a weapon that derives its energy from the nuclear reactions of fission and/or
fusion." Even the smallest nuclear weapons are more powerful than all but the largest of conventional explosives. Many of these weapons were
tested on Bikini Atoll over a period of eight years, but one test in particular would nearly destroy the island and infect it and the natives for years to
come. Their Bikini Atoll would be the test site of the massive and destructive hydrogen bomb, code named Bravo. The U.S. went through with this
test although they knew the wind was blowing towards the inhabited islands. What was seen as being "a second sun rising" by islanders about 125
miles east of the blast, sent millions of tons of sand, coral, plant, and sea–life high into the air and along with it was the radiation fallout, a descent of
minute particles of radioactive material. One half hour after the blast, the men of The Lucky Dragon were awestruck by the white ash falling from the
sky covering them and the vessel. Unsuspecting, they were all exposed to the fallout, as well as 64 people on Rongelap Atoll and 18 residing on
Ailinginae Atoll, about three to four hours after. Their skin began to itch soon after coming in contact with the ash, and then suffered burns, nausea and
vomiting, and

The Role Of Models For A Person 's Life
According to Google, a role model is a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated. Rosa Parks once said, "Each person must live their life
as a model for others." I think this expresses just how important role models are in a person's life. Role models can come from all aspects of life but
they start in your home with your family. Your family can set an example by showing how to live everyday life as a goodperson if they are the proper
role model. Actors, musicians, and other widely known people can be exceptional role models. Their influence is shown through their movies, music,
or how they are viewed. Most people have athletes they can look to as role models. Athletes can teach many life lessons including, how they play
sports or their attitude toward the sport. [Thesis] Role models can come from multiple aspects of life and can have countless effects on you as a person.
Whether it is a good influence or a bad one, it is unarguable that one of the first groups of people to have a lasting effect in your life is your family.
To be more specific almost every child 's first role models are their parents. The majority of young boys want to be big and strong, just like their
father, and most young girls aspire to be just like their beautiful mother. To quote W.E.B Dubois, "Children learn more from what you are than what
you teach". One of the basic traits of being a good role model is to lead by example. Whether a parent 's example they are setting for the child is

The Effects Of Neoliberal Ideals On The Portrayal Of Class
The Effect of Neoliberal Ideals on the Portrayal of Class in Reality TV Over the past two decades, reality TV has become an increasingly popular
genre of media and a staple in entertainment culture. As reality TV has continued to grow, scholars have become interested in examining the societal
effects of the messages that it promotes. Thus, scholarly research in the genre of reality TV examines how the use of neoliberal ideals affects the
portrayal of socioeconomic class. This field of study was first founded in the research of neoliberalism's presence within the media and reality TV. As
time has passed, many scholars have narrowed their examination to the portrayal of socioeconomic class that results from the promotion of neoliberal...

Unlike George Mantsios, Rennels and Edwards focused their work specifically on reality TV. Each author completed case studies of individual reality
TV shows; yet they came to the same conclusion that reality TV presents the poor as individuals, or singular families, that can overcome poverty by
working hard and adopting traditional "puritan–esque" values. Here Comes Honey Boo focuses on a southern working–class white family and
intentionally emphasizes their lazy lifestyle as well as unconventional behaviors, which implies that their unorthodox lifestyle has lead to their state of
poverty (Rennels). Outside of the United States, scholars such as Annabel Tremlett have studied the ways in which class has played into the
representation of marginalized minorities, specifically the Gypsy community, in reality TV. Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, "glosses over social conditions
and ignores potential for social and cultural change" (Tremlett 324). The immense poverty found within the Gypsy community is attributed to negative
aspects of their culture rather than systemic oppression. Narratives in which the men are "drinking and fighting" while the women are "oppressed
housewives" are common plotlines that contribute to enforcing Gypsies "otherness" as a reason for their poverty (Tremlett 327). On the other hand,
shows such as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition "present families as private units that must be helped, not by public aid,

My favourite scene with the 2 of them was near the end when there in concert singing "Ring of Fire". It 's one of my favourite Johnny Cash songs and these 2 managed to convince me with this performance that they were actually John and June. Without these 2 actors I don 't think this movie would have been as remarkable as they managed to make it. One film that was very close to this one was last years highly famous, "Ray". The biography of blind musician ray Charles. Both are high profile motion pictures about major recording stars who recently died (Cash passed away in 2003, four months after the death of his wife, June Carter). The music the 2 of them play is different, but there are very similar plot fundamentals, among which are drug use. "Walk the Line" I think is a better film. It 's put together with more style, and it never seems to get boring, unlike "Ray" which near the end seems to drag on for a bit. "Ray"
  • 2. had much more fantasy as opposed to "Walk the Line" which was all completely based on Cash 's own words. This movie also has a powerful plotline that "Ray" didn 't, a love story! To me, that 's what made this film much better than "Ray". Overall I really enjoyed this movie; the only thing I want to complain about is the lack of Bob Dylan. It is a known fact that Dylan single–handedly revived Cash 's career, yet they only mention him a few times throughout the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reality Television and The Negative Impact on the... With a sense of voyeurism millions of Americans tune into reality television every night without much thought of the negative message these show project. Since 1948 with the inception of Candid Camera viewers have been able to select between scripted television and reality television changing the nature of at home entertainment. The Millennium marked a change with the Academy of Arts and Science adding the reality genre to the Emmy Awards, celebrating ordinary people in unscripted situations. However with more and more of theses shows glamorizing negative behavior and social situations as well as taking away from scripted television and rewarding bad behavior it is no wonder the Millennial and next generations are said to be doomed. In recent years there has been an evolution in television networks that focus the majority of their programing on reality television. Bravo which is owned by NBC originally focused on performing arts and independent films shifted to a focus on pop culture, fashion and celebrities in 2003. The original content of these shows was ways to better ones self with makeovers, however the birth of the Real Housewives franchise in 2006 brought on a much more negative trend. With the high saturation of "real" women in different area codes now playing out unscripted but seemingly over–produced drama comes the negative propaganda that this is how women are suppose to behave. These shows glamorize vulgarity, materialism, drug addiction, alcohol abuse and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of The Poem ' The Daughter Of The Dancers ' The Virtue Of Innocence Innocence is a glorified trait in nearly any culture around the world. Many strive to keep the innocence they are born with, and plenty others spend a lifetime attempting to regain the innocence they have lost with age. In the following photos, innocence is a common theme, which each photographer approaches in a unique way. There is a dull and unsettling truth behind the innocent demonstration of young ladies acting much more mature than their age. Manuel Alvarez Bravo is one of the premier figures of modern photography and the main photographer among the immense Mexican artists of the twentieth century. In The Daughter of the Dancers, Bravo illustrates the idea of youthfulness on the verge of loosing its innocence. Sally Mann, a photographer from the 1980s–90s, caught a reflection of grown–up moves inside the innocence and youth of adolescents in Candy Cigarette through her utilization of organization, field point, and technique. In 1985 National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry went through Afghan towns concentrating on the evacuees and recording their hardships. The Afghan Girl is a classical image of lost innocence; the girl was forced to grow up way to fast. Her innocence did not survive, but she did. The innocence of children is secured by the individuals who adore them with the goal that they grow up as actually unaffected by preventable undesirable contributions as could be expected under the circumstances. • 5. Empathy Within Leadership In Leaders Eat Last By Simon Sinek Empathy is being able to understand and share another person's feelings or emotions. It allows a team to develop trust and understand others. Leaders who express empathy towards their team shows that they truly care about the people within their team. An example of empathy within leadership would be when both the committee chair and members are understanding and sharing each other's feelings. For example, if a committee chair is aware that one of his/her member is hosting a big class event that week, the chair would not be putting as much stress on that member for the week. This is both for the well–being of the member and the committee in general. Likewise, the committee members would step up in times where the chair is facing difficulties. In the book, Sinek shows an example of empathy within leadership through Johny Bravo and his team's mission. Although he cannot see, Bravo was able to comprehend the anxiety of his team on the ground. He related to the feelings of his men below using a scene from a movie. By understanding and relating to the feelings of those below him, Bravo expressed great empathy towards his team and was able to successfully help his men stay alive. In Chapter 1 of Leaders Eat Last, Simon Sinek explains the importance of empathy through a classified mission that occurred on August 16, 2002 in Afghanistan. As twenty–two men travelled through a valley with a "high–value target", Johnny Bravo and his wingman were flying above thick clouds, ready to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Musicians are the biggest part of the music and making it the way it is. Certain musicians changed the way people started to look at music in the 60s. • 9. The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Television has been one the most influential pieces of technology as a source for entertainment. During the earliest days of Televisions introduction into society, there were always shows highlighting the portrayals of mothers cooking and cleaning their homes for their husbands and children. Although, as time moved on, television and the shows that were channeled on it took a dramatic turn, leaving the days of drama free entertainment as a vast memory. Today, however, when a person turns on a television and flips through the vastness of channels on their cable network to eventually a channel likeBravo , the screen goes on to glisten and proceeds to portraying ritzy socialite women dealing with their everyday lives as "housewives". • 10. The Nuclear Bomb Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Who is good and who is Evil? Many of us go through life thinking that whatever we do must be what is good, never questioning authority and blindly following a government that is thought to be incapable of doing evil. After World War II, many Americans felt a sense of nationalism. They were proud of the fact that their military destroyed Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan. However this euphoric patriotism can often blind the holder. In August of 1945, the United States Military dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There were noble reasons for dropping the bombs, but surely destroying two entire cities questions the integrity of the United States. So again I ask, who is good and who is evil? After the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States was eager to learn more about the impacts of nuclear devices on the environment. The United States set up several nuclear bomb tests on the Marshall Islands in which they properly planned for. However one test, code named Operation Castle, went horribly wrong. Scientists involved in the test claim they expected an explosive yield of four to six megatons, but instead a yield of fifteen resulted. For reference, this is one thousand times greater than the yields of both the Hiroshima and the Nagasaki nuclear bombs (Huard). Many people believe this was merely a lapse in judgement, however I believe there is evidence that the United States government intentionally created a disaster in order to study the effects of ... Occasionally, this type of scenario is not seen, however, especially when speaking about newest housewife and former model, Cynthia Baily. Cynthia is the only housewife on the series that has no obscure drama that involves futile, petty less girl fights. For the rest of the southern women, unfortunately, drama is their way of life. Images of the "housewives" are excessively pictured on the internet. Bravotv.com has pages full of group photographs of the women in their exotic southern outfits, sparking smiles and diva personas. Pictured on the first page is a photograph from Bravotv.com, featuring the cast of The Housewives of Atlanta. It is intriguing to note that this portrait has been cropped together as one unit. In reality, however, each woman is a picture in its self that the producers of the show pushed together to appear as one photograph. • 12. Analysis Of William Shakespeare 's ' Henry Iv ' Shakespeare is one of the most widely known playwrights of history, and has been hailed for his plot structure and character development. An example of this being one of his most noticed and widely regarded characters in Henry IV Part 1, Falstaff. His character immediately gets the attention of the audience through his variance in personality from most others of his day and life style. Falstaff is an old, fat, disgraced knight and Hal's partner in crime. He is always looking for a good time while he eats, drinks, and pisses away all he can get his hands on. A more modern parallel would be the fiction character Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Both abuse any power or authority thrust upon them. While Jack Sparrow is... So feasibly Falstaff and Jack Sparrow were included in their individual stories so the audience would get hooked on the story line and feel envious of these characters and their lifestyle. Falstaff may have been put into the story of Henry IV Part 1 because he comes off as more of an actual person than other characters, making the play more real to the audience. This is supported by how Falstaff takes advantage of his position given to him by Prince Hal for the war. Instead of gathering the bravest fighters he can so he can give his all to the cause, he finds the lowest of the low and takes bribes for letting certain people stay out of the war. Albert Tolman covers the idea of how real Falstaff is in an article he wrote, "Why Did Shakespeare Create Falstaff?" Tolman asserts: "Of the characters of the great Dramatist [Shakespeare] Hamlet, Cleopatra, Iago, and Falstaff are among the most marvelous. They are portrayed with such fullness and intensity that they seem to outrun the very laws of their being. They escape from the world of fiction and are. Historical characters are less real than they." This is supported by Falstaff's take on the honor of death in battle. "Well, 'tis no matter; honour pricks me on. Yea, but how if honour prick me off when I come on? How then? Can honour set –to a leg? No. Or an arm? No. Or take away the grief of a wound? No. Honour hath no skill in surgery, then? During the early stages of the Cold War (1945–1954), the United States became so dedicated to stopping the spread of communism that they completely ignored the potential ecological effects of their strategic decisions, signifying a complete disconnect from contemplative ecology. For the consequences of wiping out American cities with atomic weapons would result in the simultaneous destruction of Soviet cities from an American counter–attack. The ultimate result would be mutually assured destruction on both sides. The ecological reprocussions from such a scenario would be disasterous. Both the Americans and the Soviets had enough nuclear weapons to not only wipe each other off the map, but also enduce a global nuclear winter–which is when the nuclear fallout is so thick it blocks out the sun, lowering the global climate, killing of plantlife, animal life which depended on that plantlife, and ultimately causing a complete food chain disruption. In this case study you will read about Mr. Cash's life from childhood till present day. The study will show how I have diagnosed Johnny Cash with Major Depressive Disorder as well as Alcohol, Stimulant and Sedative Use Disorder from prior drug and alcohol abuse. It is important to note Johnny states he has been in remission from drugs and alcohol for 40+ years which classifies as sustained remission. I do discuss how he can possibly recover from this disorder. I have chosen the method of family therapy and behavior changes. Mr. Cash will greatly benefit from a strong support system in contrast to the confinement he has chosen. It is my belief with family present to offer love and support it will change his thoughts and destructive behavior. My goal with this type of therapy is to show Johnny that he is loved and wanted. Also that there is a way to be happy and have peace again and while overcoming depression and continuing his sustained sobriety. The purpose of this case study is to reveal that John R. I usually don't agree with his reviews, so I figured we would clash on this one, but surprisingly we came to agree on many aspects. He also ignores Kate Winslet's performance and the great job she did. One thing that I noticed he didn't get into very much was the sexual side of the film. I was glimpsing over a few other articles on the movie and a lot of reviewers made comments on how Depps character was impotent, and had a thing for little boys. "And though the film flirts with the suggestion that Barrie's relationship with the boys may have had unsavory connotations, something that has been much speculated upon, the evidence seems to indicate that Barrie, an extremely short and unattractive fellow with none of the dapper attraction of the handsome Depp, was probably impotent, and that was the source of the dissatisfaction in his marriage."––– Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press. I can see where this statement is coming from since they touch upon the subject in the film, but the director did a good job in making sure that Depp's character was not creepy, but yet like a child himself. And Depp plays the role with such innocence that you would never question the fact that the boys are simply his muses and he loves that family. He pretends to be a part of it, and it is the only thing that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Prohibition and Al Capone Out of the turmoil and the collapse of law and order in the 1920's, perhaps the most recognized figure to emerge from the time is Al Capone. "The New York Times said of Al Capone that he was "the symbol of a shameful era, the monstrous symptom of a disease which was eating into the conscience of America. Looking back on it now, this period of Prohibition in full, ugly flower seems fantastically incredible. Capone himself was incredible, the creation of an ugly dream"." (www.umich.edu) He impacted society through his ruthless tactics, secret alliances, and penetrant for violence typified by the St. Valentine's Day massacre. Capone controlled many businesses in Chicago such as speakeasies, gambling houses, brothels, horse and race tracks, etc. at an approximated income of $100,000,000 a year. For several years, Al Capone was never convicted for the crimes he committed, and when he did, he had an alibi or there was never sufficient evidence against him. Al Capone had more power in society than most of the political leaders did during that time period. It took Al Capone his whole life to achieve the power he had in the Roaring 20's. Alphonsus Capone, best known as Al Capone, was born on January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn New York. At the age of fourteen, he dropped out of school and became a member of the Five Point Gang in Manhattan. He started to work at a Brooklyn bar called the Harvard Inn, and this is when Al Capone received his nickname "Scarface" after being in a fight. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. A Comparison of Two Advertisements Essay examples A Comparison of Two Advertisements Advertising is a way of publicizing a product that you want to sell. There are many of different things to advertise, such as clothes, shoes, cars, watches etc. Advertising promotes the latest goods that are out in the shops. Advertising effects me everyday because every time I see a advertisement it attracts me to the product and I think about buying it or saving up to buy it. In this assignment, I will be talking about two different car advertisements; one car advertisement, the Fiat Stilo advert comes from FHM magazine, a publication aimed at young men aged sixteen and over. The other car, the Rover Streetwise advert comes from the Radio Times which is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Rover streetwise advert has pictures of daily life things such as coffee, donuts, a football, children's Wellingtons boots and a shopping trolley with groceries inside the trolley. This indicates that the car is a family car and is aimed at married women mainly but can also be used by a family man to drive to and from work. The slogan for the advert "shrugs of life's little challenges" is related to the pictures for example the child's muddy Wellington boot. The donut would represent the father who is hungry on the way home or to work, the shopping trolley would represent that the car is useful for a family shopping spree. The advert also uses the word 'Bump' which is saying that even if a heavy load is in the car it can still go over speed bumps. I like the way the advert creates an image of characters in the readers mind, although you cannot see a physical person (image) but the pictures imply their existence. For example, like when I saw the picture of the Wellingtons, an image of a little boy was the first thing I thought of. The advert tells stories of different family lives because each picture relates to many things in everyday life. I wouldn't buy this car because it's Rover, and I don't like rovers I don't think they are good quality cars. However the way this car is designed is nice, it is an attractive car and I wouldn't mind driving it. I appreciate this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The 18th amendment had banned alcohol creation and consumption. The reason the amendment was passes was because workers became addicted to liquor ultimately becoming ineffective workers. The 18th amendment gave young desperate men the chance to make big money selling liquor. Eventually selling liquor will become the gateway for these men to becoming gangsters. Through the years of the Prohibition three men would lead the gangster into a new style of organized crime unseen ever before. Al Capone, Dutch Schultz and Charles "Lucky" Luciano became the big three gangsters that led the era into a new direction of organized crime. He was Gabriel and Teresa Capone's, fourth of nine children; his parents were Italian immigrants. At the age of 14 Capone was expelled from school for assaulting a female teacher. Capone then started working for Johnny Torrio as a bouncer at one of his brothels; this is when Capone really began to get exposed to the mobster life. He was exposed to the mobster life because Johnny Torrio was one of Brooklyn's most notorious mobsters. (Gottesman & Brown) Not too long after working as a bouncer, Al took a blade to the face and that's how he got the nickname "Scarface". He was soon welcomed into the Five Points Gang where he partook in burglary, prostitution, long–sharking, and extortion. Analysis Of The Real Housewife In Popular Culture The reappropriation of the housewife in popular culture is not only prevalent through fictional media but has also become popular in reality television. Over the last ten years Bravo's The Real Housewives Of franchise has grown into somewhat of a phenomenon. This began in 2006 with the release of The Real Housewives of Orange County which followed the lives of a group of affluent women living in Southern California as they went about their daily life. Following the world wide success of the original show six follow up series have since been created, all following the same premise but set in different cities across America. These series follow the lives of women who live in gated communities and creates drama in discovering what is hidden behind said gates. The very title of the show itself is interesting as taking into consideration the women in which the series revolve around, The Real Housewives appears to be a somewhat paradoxical name. Although some of the women in the show are married and live within the domestic sphere, the majority of women have successful careers out with the home and a significant number of them are no longer married or have never been so. This raises the question, why are women who are not housewives represented as being so? What does this say about the portrayal of married and indeed of single women within popular culture? The Real Housewives franchise positions women as being independent, powerful and successful regardless of being either with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The woman crying shapes our understanding of her mental strength, after everything living in the bush has thrown at her, being reduced to tears and physically beaten she stays strong. Willing to endure even more the environment can throw at her. Burton also uses flashbacks to add depth to Alice's character; the flashbacks are symbolic of the decline in her imagination, her willingness to try the 'impossible' and a symbol of her conformity. These flashbacks are also a sad reminder of the passing of her father; he was one to encourage the use of her imagination and believing in impossible things. • 37. Effective Television : Reality TV Vs. Reality Shows In the last decade, television has converted from scripted based programming to reality based programming. Although the content is largely contrived, it's intent is to portray each character in his or her own element. Historically, television and virtually every other form of media have used stereotyping to appeal to a certain demographic. But the use of subtle and more subliminal messages has become less and less common over the years. Furthermore, the blatant differences between scripted television shows and reality television are unparalleled. For example, scripted television's mission is to recreate a reality from the average Americans point of view. Show's that are set in hospitals, fire departments, police departments, or in corporate settings, usually illustrates the diversity and racial equality that exists in those industries. In contrast, reality shows are vastly different in its approach. Titles, for instance, reveals much more about the casting, it's storylines and its overall objection. For instance, Basketball Wives, which is a popular reality show that airs on VH1, it's intent is to reveal the day to day lives of the wives of NBA basketball players. However, the show very rarely focuses on any positive aspects of their daily endeavors, like raising children or promoting charities. But rather, the show promotes alcohol–fueled disputes, merciless and materialistic African American and Latina women. Conversely, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reflects a vastly ... His use of cinematic techniques created incredible worlds beyond imagination. People from all over find themselves pulled into the originality of his stories and the depth of his characters. His ingenious use of sound, lighting, and shots and framing create diverse and colorful masterpieces. First off, sound makes up a large part of film making, especially a Tim Burton film. Lastly, shots and framing are crucial to Tim Burton's films. In the mansion of Edward Scissorhands, Peg is shown at al long shot making her appear vulnerable. Also, Edward is shown at a long shot which then zooms to make him appear more threatening. Tim Burton uses close–ups to spook the audience when Jack comes out of the coffin in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Big Fish gives us another example of how the director uses shots and framing to convey a subtle message. In the movie Edward is seen talking to a giant with the scene being shot and framed at a low angle making him appear vulnerable in comparison to the giant. The same effect can be appreciated when the main character is shot from a high angle as is the case of Willie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In this scene Willie is being yelled at by his Dad for eating too much candy. The scene is shot from a high angle making Willie look insignificant. Shots and Framing are vitals in Tim Burton's movies because they set the point of view and perspective that allow the viewers to see the characters in the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rosa Parks once said, "Each person must live their life as a model for others." I think this expresses just how important role models are in a person's life. Role models can come from all aspects of life but they start in your home with your family. Your family can set an example by showing how to live everyday life as a goodperson if they are the proper role model. Actors, musicians, and other widely known people can be exceptional role models. Their influence is shown through their movies, music, or how they are viewed. Most people have athletes they can look to as role models. Athletes can teach many life lessons including, how they play sports or their attitude toward the sport. Here Comes Honey Boo focuses on a southern working–class white family and intentionally emphasizes their lazy lifestyle as well as unconventional behaviors, which implies that their unorthodox lifestyle has lead to their state of poverty (Rennels).
