The Cough Harry Hume's short story "The Cough" uses figurative language to show that the father works as a miner and as a result is getting sick
but cannot stop working as his job is the only thing keeping the family afloat. The diction used in this micro story illustrates how the father's job as a
miner seeps into every part of their life. The personification of the cough sets out to illustrate the father's illness not as something evil or destructive,

Context, in general, is important. Without context, words are twisted, actions are misunderstood, and insights are lost. However, as individual people,
it is harder to determine what context matters. How important are intentions? How important are motives? From the outside looking in, these internal

When I decided to use reading as my research topic, I thought I could take on the whole concept of reading, but I soon learned that reading is a
complex subject that has many methods. According to the International Reading Association, "A reading method is a set of teaching and learning

The school systems have had educational backgrounds molded after whole language, and its time for a phonics approach. It is now more crucial

Those who oppose phonics also feel that the drills and texts used to teach phonics bore students which just increases to their lack of comprehension. At
a certain age, students need to focus more on reading for meaning and enjoyment, but the method of phonics does not focus on incorporating these two
