Myanmar, Better Known To The Rest Of The World As Burma,
Myanmar, better known to the rest of the world as Burma, is a basic country arranged in Southeast
Asia. It was at one time a prosperous country and now is one of the poorest countries on the planet
today. As showed by Thadithil, this is an ordered history of the events: "In 1886, Burma transformed
into a district of English India. 1936, Burma separates from India. 1942, Japan invaded Burma.
1945, the Anti–Fascist Freedom League, drove by Aung San, deceives Japan, and helps allies
reoccupy Burma. 1947, the Burmese won their freedom, Aung San wins the fundamental race yet
was murdered during a meeting of the Executive Council (Maung). 1948, U Nu ends up being the
Prime Minister. 1976, Ethnic freedom groups continue to revolt and finally ... Show more content on

Her two children are natives of the UK and were seldom let see her.
In spite of the fact that she was bound to her home, she tried to affirm her basic rights, to oppose the
authorities, and to go outside Yangon. This sometimes–incited pompous experiences in odd
conditions, for instance, her being held for a couple of days on a bridge on the edges of Yangon in
1998 and again in 2000, and being denied a ticket on a train to Mandalay in 2000, which was the
reason she was returned to home confinement in August 2000 (Wilson). It 's difficult to conceive
how exhaustively and brutally she was kept secluded from her own people and the rest of the world
by the Myanmar authorities. Most of the time, the only communication she had was a short–wave
radio so she could tune into BBC. She didn 't have access to the telephone. NLD Headquarters had a
telephone, however, more often than not, it was out and the authorities did their best to keep her far
from there. She didn 't have admittance to the web and/or satellite broadcasts until after her
discharge from detainment in late 2010.
Suu Kyi 's philosophy is that individuals merit the opportunity to pick their own fates, and non–

Rohingya is Muslim minority communities that located in the North of Western Arakan, Burma.
They are referred to as neither people that is nor a country and not recognized full citizenship by
Myanmar government. They are different with other ethnic groups, whether nationality was
recognized by Myanmar government. Rohingya ethnic is regarded as temporary residents and are
not getting rights of full citizenship. Rohingya ethnic also experienced religious persecution that it is
almost impossible for them to get repair or renovation permits of the mosque construction.
The Muslim Rohingya been misery started in 1978 because of junta military, as a result thousands
of people chose being refugees in the some neighbour countries. It was so pathetic to see them went
out from their origin place and become refugees. They go to Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and

The Pros And Cons Of Tourism In Myanmar
Although some countries and the democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi have both made statement to
people do not to visit Myanmar due to many reasons such as the culture & human rights protection,
political fights and terrorist attack, the tourism became open to the world again. The National
Democratic League has boycott the activity of "Visit Myanmar year 1996" because they thought
tourism was only financially benefited the regime, but NLD made a new statement in 2011, 15 years
later, replaced of revenging the government revenue by stopping tourism, they stated that tourism
development affects Myanmar's nature, local culture and local population of Myanmar. However,
they also made acknowledge of responsible tourism can act as an important role in the country's

And over two–thirds of the tourists who visited Myanmar in 2012 came from Asia. But a lot of the
customers did not come for vacation but for managing business. Based on the tourists' data of 2012,
the types of tourism that the customers have chosen were like the following: package tours occupied
23%; foreign independent travelers were accounted for 42%, business travelers were 20% and
others had 15%. Here we can see, two–thirds were independent international customers. Miyamoto
indicated in her article "A Study on Ethnic Tourism in Myanmar" that, the package tour customers
were much lower than the independent tour customers in 2012, the reason has high probability with
the unsound infrastructure in Myanmar; and the amount of independent tourists of 2012 were less
may related to the political unrest and terror attack additionally. In June 2012, deadly violence
occurred in the west area of Myanmar due to the tensions of religious faction and it resulted a state
of emergency declared by Burma's president. People dead and injured, hundreds of houses were
burned in the fire also and the unrest riot has been increasing. Thus, the security issues might be the
main reason why tourists increased slowly in

Animal Products And Its Effects On Myanmar
In Myanmar, NTFPs is defined as "all kinds of forest produce other than timber and firewood." This
includes animals, vegetables, and mineral products (Khin Maung Lwin 1995). Myanmar Forest Law
1992 called NTFPs as minor forest produce. According to the Forest Law 1992, NTFPs are declared
for revenue collection. Forest Department levy tax on 29 kinds of forest products including NTFPs
according to the law. The production of NTFPs from 2010 to 2014 is shown in the Appendix 1.
NTFPs in Myanmar can be divided into 13 groups according to their nature and uses (Khin Maung
Lwin 1995). These include (1) bamboo, (2) cane (rattan), (3) tanning bark, (4) Shaw (bast), (5)

Rice is the staple food of Myanmar. Myanmar eats rice with various curries. Different kinds of spicy
are used in cooking. Some important species uses in cooking as spicy include: Phala (Caradamom –
Elettaria cardamomum), Ngayok–kaung (black pepper– Piper nigrum), Peikchin (long pepper–
Piper longum) and Karawe (Cinnamomum spp.) (Khin Maung Lwin 1995). Wildlife is an important
source of food; particularly bushmeat provides a major source of protein to people diets (Tin Moe
2005). Rural people in Myanmar hunt birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects (a
major protein supplement) for food and to earn extra cash (Khin Maung Lwin 1995).
2.2.2 NTFPs for Medicine
Medicinal plants have been important in human healthcare throughout history, and continue to play
a key role amongst forest communities (Shackleton et. al. 2011). In Myanmar, most of the rural
areas are lacking modern medicine and health services. Some of the areas are very far from the
urban area and sometimes difficult to access. Sometimes modern medicine and healthcare services
are expensive and they are not affordable. Traditional medicines obtained from local plant and
animal species are easily available and free or low cost (Shackleton et. al. 2011). Rural people have
good knowledge on medicinal plants their uses. In Myanmar, medicinal plants play a role in both
modern and traditional health care system (Khin Maung Lwin 1995). Some example species

The Republic Of Union Of Myanmar
The Republic of Union of Myanmar, but formally known as Burma, is the largest country in
mainland South–East Asia by area. It borders with China to the east and India to the north. It stands
exactly midway between Delhi and Bombay and Shanghai and Hong Kong. It is the missing link. It
is also an unlikely twenty first century nexus. In addition, the geostrategic location is favorable
because it is situated in a region of strong economic growth, and bordering China, India, Laos,
Bangladesh and Thailand. There are seven states and seven divisions in Myanmar. Myanmar is
composed of many ethnic groups and there are 135 ethnic groups including the minorities. In fact,
each of them have their own cultures, customs, traditions, languages and that makes her a very
special unique. But, the majority people are Burmese and Burmese language is the official language
of our country. Many of the people are Buddhist religion and it is well–known for its golden temple
in the world. There are millions of Buddhist temples and statutes and sometimes we even called it
"The Golden Land of Myanmar". It has a diverse population of around 51 millions. Despite its size
and strategic location, Myanmar is also the poorest country in the region, with around one quarter of
its population estimated to be living in poverty. From 1962 to 2011, the country was ruled by a
military junta that suppressed almost all dissent and wielded absolute power in the face of
international condemnation and sanctions. In

As a whole, the location and topography of the country generated a diversity of climate conditions.
Seasonal changes in the monsoon wind directions create summer, rainy and winter seasons.
Extremes of temperature are rare. The directions of winds and depression bring rain, and although it
is always heavy in the coastal areas during monsoon season, it seldom creates hardships. The
Government is giving priority to the forest conservation and greening of nine arid districts in central
Myanmar. Myanmar is endowed with a rich diversity of habitat types arising largely from its
unusual ecological diversity. It is home to nearly 300 known mammal species, 300 reptiles and
about 100 birds species, and a haven for about 7,000 species of plant life. Since Myanmar considers
such a rich pool of bio diversity as an important national asset, the Government has drawn up strict
regulations to protect its biological resources. As some folktales have said, the map of the country

Emergency Massaging Systems in Myanmar
1 . Existing emergency messaging systems in Myanmar – Presently, Myanmar doesn't have its own
satellites and has a contract with Thailand to use the Thai Com 5 satellite for internet services.
However, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is planning to launch the
first Myanmar satellite in a joint project with a Japanese company. This project is expected to start
very soon which implies that Myanmar will be able to expand the use of satellite communications in
the short run. Myanmar is exposed to multiple natural hazards which include cyclones, storm surges,
floods, landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis, drought, and fire. Its coastal regions are exposed to
cyclones, storm surges and tsunamis. The rainfall–induced flooding is a recurring phenomenon
across the country while some regions are exposed to landslide and drought. Earthquakes and fires
also occasionally occur. At present, the Government broadcasts emergency information via TV,
radio, newspapers, Government websites and local administrations. The Government, local and
international NGOs, Agencies of the United Nations, prioritize the following aspects related to
emergency situations due to natural disasters: preparedness, response, and early recovery. The
Government has recently approved a "Myanmar Action Plan on Disaster Risk Reduction" which
draws the guidelines for emergency situations. Important parts of the plan are preparedness plans,
early warning, immediate actions after the occurrence of the

The Cultural Differences Between Myanmar And The United...
Since I am employed by Acme Overseas Constructors to develop country assessments to investigate
the potential for Acme entering the construction market in Myanmar (Burma), Mexico, and Turkey,
I am required to examine the cultural differences of each country compared to the United States.
After that, I need to inspect how those cultural differences may affect business practices in each
country. Then, few strategies are to be developed in order for Acme to adapt its business approach to
conform to the cultural expectations. More strategies should be adopted to ensure that Acme's
managers and workers conform to the cultural expectations. Based on cultural behaviors, it is easy
to assess how the productivity of a local work force is influenced in each country. Cultural
differences are many and not limited to what are provided in this case study. One of the cultural
differences between Myanmar and the United States is the usage of titles. In Myanmar, it is required
to call wise and old people by their positions whereas it is preferable to call people by their first
names (Mutchler, n.d.). In addition to the titles, Burmese think of the head as sacred and not to be
touched by anyone while feet are dirty and shouldn't be used for pointing (Go–Myanmar.com,
2015). Moreover, unless a woman wishes to shake hands, she should not be touched unlike in the
United States where it is acceptable to touch women. In Mexico, people appreciate friendships and

Women From Vietnam And Myanmar
With the first round of little emperors being in their 30s now, they are finding a shortage of women
as a result of the biased culture that favored them. They complain that there are no women, so they
cannot fulfill their duty to carry on their family name, as they have no one to bear their children. As
a result, women are increasingly treated as a commodity. In some ways, that could be good for
women, having a better pick of who to marry, maybe even having better treatment later in life and
with higher education just to make it look like there is an even playing field. However, any benefit
to women now would be reactionary and superficial. Today's men who have grown up thinking the
world revolves around them and being taught that they deserve everything they want and more, have
now taken to acting out in violence. With the shortage of women, brides are being purchased from
Vietnam and Myanmar to satisfy the demand. Girls and young women in China are being kidnapped
and sold as brides or worse all throughout the country. There are girls going missing at an alarming
rate, but the media does not cover such things as they do in the US or the UK. The media does not
want to damage the reputation of an area, so they will keep quiet about missing children, where
elsewhere in the world, a kidnapped little girl will make national news until she is found. Even more
disturbing than the idea of girls being kidnapped and sold, is the fact that many of these girls are
sold to human

Identity Conflict In Myanmar : Political And Social Conflict
The Buddhists who have had dominant political and social influence in society have bullied the
Muslims and use multiple modes of threat against Muslims. Though some of the causal mechanisms
are more evident, they all overlap and intertwine to help give a full explanation of the conflict in
Myanmar. In 1982, the government passed the Burmese nationality law that denied Rohingya
Muslims from being citizens. This creates an identity conflict within the group of Rohingya
Muslims. Checkel's piece on constructivism helps best understand and implore new social policies
ensue conflict. Checkel describes constructivism as "a story of boundedly rational individuals (note
– not instrumentally rational) taking cues from their social environment that then lead them to enact
certain roles; this is the underlying dynamic in March and Olsen's (1998) logic of appropriateness".
Checkel's theory of constructivism helps understand how institutions such as the government and
the religion of Buddhism play a large and intertwining role with agents in conflicts. Institutions,
such as the government, build social and community environments which could benefit or harm
both parties of conflict. The influence of institutions is an indicator that this conflict is best viewed
by a "soft" approach, meaning identities are formed by elites, or top–down. In the case of Myanmar,
in 2001, The Fear of Losing One's Race, as well as many other anti–Muslim literature pamphlets
were passed out and distributed to

Ethnic Cleansing In The Rohingya
Ethnic cleansing has not been recognized by the United Nations as an independent crime. Although,
it has been recognized as trying to rid one group of people from an area to make the other group
ethnically homogenous. To do this a group can try to promote fear in another group making them
want to leave so they do not feel safe anymore. Some of these acts can include murder, torture, rape,
etc. (Ethnic Cleansing, Un.org) This is exactly what is happening to the Rohingya in Myanmar.
They are being forced to leave their home and escape to neighboring countries because of
persecution by the primarily Buddhist, Myanmar. They are not allowed citizenship, are forced to
relocate, and been attacked by the Myanmar government on several occasions. Recent studies have
shown that over 160,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar and over 1,000 have been killed, including
innocent men, women, and children. (Myanmar: Who are the Rohingya, aljezzera.com) The
Rohingya have been in Myanmar since 1982 and not only have gotten no recognition but are not
even allowed citizenship. This is turn limits them to having no power or say in Myanmar. The
government made the Rohingya get foreign identity cards. This in turn, angered many of the
Rohingya for their families had been there for generations. Some Rohingya had even served in the
government prior to this. All their rights to go to school, work, travel, etc. were prohibited because
they were not able to be recognized as citizens. The Myanmar

Inherent and treated are two terms that are used a lot in the flame resistant world. The term
inherently flame resistant fabric is one that is used for fabrics that do not required the addition of
flame retardant chemicals after the yarns have been spun or the fabric has been woven or knitted.
The yarns of these fabric use only fibres that are naturally flame resistant. The common theme is no
flame retardant chemicals are added to the yarn or fabric.
Unlike inherent fabrics, flame resistant treated fabrics(flame retardant fabrics) have the flame
retardant chemicals added to the fabric after it has been woven or knitted.
Most of the chemicals used for fire retardant finishing of cotton textile are synthetic compounds and
they are available in the market. These chemicals and their application procedures are hazardous,
expensive and non–eco–friendly [4].
Cellulosic cotton textile catches flame readily that is quite difficult to extinguish. This poses a
serious risk to the health and life of a living and damages potential to textile products. Banana is one
of most important and common fruits in Myanmar. The crop can be grown throughout the country. It
grows wild and also cultivated on a large scale as a field crop as well as backyard crop in household.
Banana pseudostem is abundantly available in Myanmar and it is normally considered as waste
material. It is eco–friendly and available from renewable source.

1. POLITICAL STRUCTURE AND POLITICAL RISKS IN EACH COUNTRY:
(a.) Myanmar (Burma):
Political Structure:
Myanmar has been ruled by the military Junta from mid 20th century to early 21st century for
almost 50 years and had the complete power and grip over country and political situation. The 2010
legislative elections ended the rule of military junta, and welcomed a President rule. But still,
Myanmar is in the early stages of democracy where the political structure is dominated by the
military.
Myanmar is one of the most corrupted countries in the world ranking at 156 based on Corruption
Perception Index (CPI) in the year 2014.
Political Risks:
It will be a ripe situation for all the Western Countries doing business with lot of corruption
involved in the nation. Doing business will always be a risk in the country without a local partner as
the situations are completely controlled by the Junta. And its tough job for all the leading investors
to find a local partner without a connection with the military Junta which would ultimately increase
the risk of a boycott at home.

The Sociology of Development: Case Study of Myanmar
The present paper's aim is to consider the sociology of development as illustrated in the case study
of Myanmar, with special focus on the causes of underdevelopment that can be correlated with the
modernization and dependency theories, along with comparing the country of study with U.S.A. in
terms of democracy, and finally offering insight into the close relationship between state and
religion.
Starting with 1970, theorists referred to the dependency theory by arguing that trade with wealthy
countries does not benefit underdeveloped ones, and consequently enforces upon them a status of
structural dependence. Upon registering this consideration, elites of developing countries reacted by
openly acknowledging it, because it placed the focus on global capitalism, and thus exempted or,
more likely, minimized the part that poverty played in the mechanism of internal issues or the local–
based corruption (Inglehart and Welzel, 2009, p. 35). Hence, the consensus was established in Third
World nations that they would withdraw from global markets and instate some import policies
instead, for the purpose of making global exploitation obsolete.
However, in the past few years it became clear that isolationist practices and import substitution
strategies have not been very successful in further developing poor countries, seeing as nations least
involved with global trade, such as Myanmar, have registered slow progress. In fact, other countries
on a similar developmental level took full

The Causes Of Refugees In Myanmar
Meanwhile in Myanmar, the world is having another ethnic cleansing. The social and political
unrest between Myanmar's Buddhists and the small minority group of Rohingya people has
escalated atrociously. There have been accounts of murder, rape, assault, abuse, and burning of
homes and mosques. At first the government completely denied any of these events, but it became
hard to cover it up when half a million people were fleeing for their lives to neighboring countries.
Neighboring countries of Myanmar, who usually stay out of each other's internal affairs, now are
getting involved as they cannot turn a blind eye to genocide. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak
said in December, "The world cannot sit by and watch genocide taking place. The world cannot just
say 'look, it is not our problem'". However, the massive amount of refugees is problematic for the
host countries and for the refugees themselves. Bangladesh has started putting a ban on refugees
entering. Refugees live in squalor and camps set up in the middle of nowhere with makeshift roofs
and floors. People are sick and injured and starving. This life of a refugee, that some of us may
conjure up an image, is not the same as reality. As Hannah Ardent wrote, the term refugee is used all
wrong. These are not people who were flushed out because they were political radicals. These were
people discriminated against, people who were traumatized and battered. They are immigrants,
seeking refuge. When so many of us hear

The Military Forces in Myanmar
As a relatively young country (in recent independence) only gaining its independence from Great
Britain in 1948, Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, has been crippled by the influence of its
extensive colonial history . The various governments in Myanmar's independence thus far, often run
on empty promises and heavy artillery, have done little good for the country. The military forces in
Myanmar have grown tremendously to the detriment of both prodemocracy leaders as well as the
country's population as a whole . Any attempted uprising in the country is quickly met with brute
force as seen in the recent failed Saffron Revolution . The focus of the government on the growth of
military power to the neglect of social and economic prosperity has ... Show more content on

Trend continued well into the Anglo–Burmese war of 1824. Burma lost and as a result had to cede
of its land to British India. By 1885, the entirety of Burma was a province of British India until 1937
when it became a crown colony of Britain . It wasn't until Japan invaded Burma in the 1940s that
the Burmese were able to successfully resist foreign rule. Even in its Colonial period there was a
lack of widespread internal stability, this would create the trend that would theoretically justify the
harsh choices of the current government . Additionally the relative closeness of the shifts in
government that occurred during the colonial period could also explain why the Burmese
government has difficulty dealing with transition.
Burma officially gained its independence from Britain in 1948 by negotiations lead by nationalist
leader Aung San . After the success of these negotiations San was plagued with the daunting task of
unifying the various ethnic factions under one union. However before he could take any actions
towards achieving this task, he was assassinated. Once again hope was lost with the deaths of San

materialization of the China–EU "comprehensive strategic partnership" hinges upon the integration
of respective policy agendas between Beijing and Brussels. While it is good enough to give more
understanding how OBOR Initiative give an impact of bilateral, multilateral relations and regional
impacts, the paper is not strong enough to draw a current research, especially in the relations with
Southeast Asia and Myanmar, in particular. Nevertheless, another research paper has given a broad

In 1989, a market–oriented system is formalised and liberalizing the economy by expanding the
private sectors, encouraging foreign investment and changing rules and regulations. The foreign
investment was intended to provide more employment, stimulate regional development, exploit
natural resources, save natural energy and promote high technology. Restrictions on private
participants were released and financial incentives such as tax exemptions and relief are provided in
domestic and foreign trade. Moreover, FDI were allowed to set up 100% wholly owned enterprises
or in joint ventures with a public or private of the total equity (Union of Myanmar, 2002a).

The Rohingy The Causes Of Conflict As A Global Conflict
Conflict occurs when people disagree with each other whether it be what one is doing, saying or
even believes. Often times this leads to violence from the opposing sides who are trying to stop the
other. When it takes place at the level of it being a global conflict involving countries then the
violence tends to be catastrophic resulting in many lives lost and others injured. Countries have
conflicts within itself, for example, the American Civil War when the North and South were fighting
each other. This conflict derived from the policy of slavery when the North wanted to abolish while
the South wanted to keep their slaves. The Rohingya crisis is similar in that it is a conflict
happening within the country of Myanmar, but it is over the Rohingya people not being recognized
as citizens.
Located in the Rakhine State of Myanmar resides approximately 1 million people who are a
stateless Muslim minority known as the Rohingya. These people are being denied their human
rights by not allowing them to own land or property. This means that the land they are currently
living on, which is also the only land many Rohingya have known, can be taken away from them at
any time. Myanmar sees the Rohingya as illegal immigrants and refusing to recognize them as
citizens or one of the ethnic groups out of 135 in their country (CNN, 2017). Prior to the violence,
the Rohingya people were able to live alongside the Buddhist of Myanmar although it was not in
harmony. On August 25 of 2017 is when

A Brief Note On The Myanmar Garment Industry Essay
The Myanmar garment industry is still extremely small and it tends to specialists in higher quality

Myanmar: A Nation in Crisis Essay
Myanmar: A Nation in Crisis
The nation of Myanmar, also known as Burma, is currently under the rule of a ruthless totalitarian
regime, guilty of numerous human rights violations and target of intense international criticism.
Located in Southeast Asia, on the western border of Thailand and Laos, it has been under military
rule since World War II. Burma is mired in socioeconomic crisis stemming from the rule of the
military junta, and the citizens are suffering. The environment of Burma is being destroyed, the
people are treated inhumanely, and the country is notorious for its contribution to global narcotics.

Eventually the Toungoo dynasty emerged in the 16th century, and the country was unified under a
single Burmese state. The dynasty fell in 1752 after years of invasion, clashes with the Portuguese,
and ultimately a Mon rebellion.
The rebellion gave way to the Kongbaung dynasty, which did restore Burmese control over the
country. There was a great deal of friction and eventually full–fledged fighting between the
Kongbaung dynasty and the British, particularly over the coastal province of Arakan. This tension
gave way to the First Anglo–Burmese war in the early 19th century, after which the British gained
control of Arakan as well as the province of Tenasserim. The Second Anglo–Burmese War in 1852
gave the British near complete control of Burma, and it was annexed as a British Colony in 1885.
Although it required the suppression of various uprisings and widespread dissent, British rule
actually helped modernize the country, create a more stable social structure, and increase the
productivity of its industries. The British made Burma a leading exporter of rice, and the city of
Yangon became a major shipping port as a result. However, this economic expansion came at the
expense of traditional Burmese customs and culture. British control eventually began to wear upon
the residents of Burma, and a new independence movement was driven by university student
movements as well as religious movements

2.1.1 POLITICAL RISK
The political risk is the risk that the host country fails to provide a stable legal and regulatory
environment, therefore significantly harms the investment (Bonell, Carroll, Kelp, & Ye, 2013).
Based on the Political Risk Index by risk consulting firm Maplecroft, Myanmar is ranked the 5th in
the world and is rated as extreme risk (Marsh, 2013). One of the main prevalent issues is due to
corruption which poses a difficult operating environment for foreign investors. It is stated that even
in 2012, corruption watchdog Transparency International ranked Myanmar as one of the world 's
most corrupt nations (Mahtani, 2013). Other issues include communal violence and a government
bureaucracy that is ranked bottom by Transparency International put early investors at substantial

little people around the world know about. The victims that have been affected by this mass murder

Reflection Paper About Thingyan
Thingyan Mingalar par, Myanmar!!!! How are you, everybody? I glad that I see smiles in your
faces. The celebration of Thingyan has come. It's time for families and friends gathering, music,
foods, dances, parades, and it also is a time to do good deeds, washing away one's sin of the
previous year with water, and welcoming to a new year. Even though I have been here at Yangon for
three years, I felt like the Thingyan spirit has touched me for a long time. When I see Myanmar

ways, but, for me, both occasions give me an inspiration to embrace the new year with a fresh start.
I thank the Thingyan Committee allowing me to speak in this ceremony, and I am honored to speak

In June and October 2012, Myanmar, also known as Burma, saw two surges in violent ethnic
conflict between the Rohingya, a minority Muslim group, and Burmese Buddhists who constitute
the majority population in the country. The conflict was centered in the Rakhine state in western
Myanmar, a region home to about 800,000 Rohingyas. The violence occurring among civilians was
exacerbated by the majority Buddhist police and military forces meant to contain the situation.
Police brutality, torture, rape, and the destruction of Rohingya homes were widely reported during
and after the conflicts. In total, approximately 280 people were killed, 135,000 people displaced,
and 8,500 homes were destroyed (Ullah 2016). Senior officials from UNHCR mid November 2016,
more than four years after the Rakhine conflicts, expressed fears of continued "collective
punishment" for the Rohingyas because of the past violence, resulting in ethnic cleansing
("Myanmar" 2016; "Bangladesh" 2016). Ethnic strife between the two groups date back more than
30 years ago, but the 2012 events and the effects of its aftermath have helped shape the current
landscape of Rohingya–Buddhist relations. With tensions between the two ethnic groups simmering

Electronic Medical Records In Myanmar
Introduction Background of the Study Poor health information system has been a major challenge in
healthcare delivery in many developing countries due to limited financial resources. Health
information technology provides to collect, organize and present medical information in a system
that will make it useful to all healthcare professionals (Robert E Hoyt, 2014). Electronic medical
records (EMR) are a vital and basic part of the implementation of information technology in the
healthcare industry. EMR systems have gained wide traction in the recent years in many countries
worldwide as a good solution for them to overcome most of their problems in healthcare delivery
services. While most hospitals and clinics in developed countries have ... Show more content on

Among many potential advantages that EMR system bring, most tangible benefit is that changing to
EMR system can help in generating unique patient identification and maintaining all information of
a specific patient within a record under one unique ID (Joaquin A. Blaya, 2010). One of the biggest
issues that used to happen in many developing hospitals is that patients receive a new serial number
and new record each time they attend the hospital. The result of multiple encounters with different
healthcare providers may lead to fragmentation of the patient's record. Having a unique ID will
prevent disintegration of medical record of each patient so that medical records can become more
complete and reliable (Abdulai, 2009). From operating EMR system, unnecessary overloaded
workforce of paper chart reviews can be reduced, and retrieving patient data, lab or x–ray results
can be much easier (Robert E Hoyt, 2014) (Dr. Jitendranath Mungara, 2017). Another less
noticeable benefit of EMR in long term use is its potential ability to reduce healthcare costs and
improve quality of healthcare by reducing duplication of investigations and adverse drug events
(Nolwazi Candice Sikhondze, 2016). EMR system thus facilitates productivity and efficiency

Is Myanmar A Greater Risk Of Political Violence?
In this memo I argue that Myanmar is likely to be a greater risk of political violence. From the
theoretical perspective, there is a curvilinear relationship between the level of democracy and
political violence; from the empirical perspective, the problems with legislation system, minority
and religion, and natural resources lead to aggravation of violence.
Before 2010, Myanmar experienced the transition from Autocracy to Democracy. In 2010, the
Union Solidarity and Development Party in Myanmar won the new round of election and formed a
military–backed new government, then began a series of political and economics reforms, including
the release of pro–democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest and general amnesties for
over 200 political prisoners, and a new labor law that allows labor unions and strikes. These reforms
have been seen as a new round of democratization in Myanmar, however, the consequence of
Myanmar reforms are debated worldwide. Some people argue that these reforms are indicators of
progresses of democratization, while others believe they triggered more conflicts in Myanmar,
which made the situation there more instable and complicated.
The Theoretical Analysis of Transitions to Democracy
According to Lars–Erik Cederman, "While the democratic–peace hypothesis has been accepted by
most scholars, there is still controversy concerning the possibility that democratization processes
may well trigger political violence." From the case of Myanmar

Myanmar Genocide: A Comparative Analysis
While studying genocides in class and having the opportunity to have an insight on twelve different
genocides that have occurred in the world, I have learned a lot about what mankind is truly like.
Disregarding race, gender, religion, and where we live, every human being is the same in regards of
what drives them. Mankind is always after superiority over everyone else and after resources they
don't currently have. Due to this, conflicts arise which often lead to genocides and war. Through
every genocide we have studied in class, from the Native American genocide to the Myanmar
genocide, I have noticed that every genocide starts because one group wants to be superior over the
other group and also wants something the other group has that they ... Show more content on

force the minority out of their country and ultimately destroy the minority off the face of the earth.

organize, and oversee the entire genocide. Since the creation of mankind, we have always been after
one thing: money. Whether that was actual dollar amounts or resources, money has been the initial
cause of every conflict, genocide, and war. For future generations to come, I do not see an end to
genocides occurring, but actually more genocides to arise. Also, as a society, we cannot prevent
genocides from occurring because people will always be in a conflict over money, resources, and
power. However, we can fix the problem by putting a stop to genocides quicker instead of letting
them drag on, but as a species we need to be the bigger person in the situation and step up to the

Essay On Myanmar Genocide
In light of our recent lectures, I found it fitting to speak about the situation that is currently taking
place in Myanmar. The Myanmar government is being accused of extremely hostile actions against
the Rohingya people in their country. This includes the burning of villages, rape, and murder. Many
of the Rohingya have fled the country in search of asylum. This news story specifically addresses
how Amnesty International, a human rights organization, has released evidence of the government's
actions and how, as expected, the Myanmar government is denying every accusation. Amnesty
International reports that almost 400,000 people have fled from Myanmar and entered Bangladesh
for refuge. Regarding this predicament that has been taking place for quite some time and very
recently grew worse, officials of the UN have been shifting on whether or not to use the term
"ethnic cleansing." The actual term of "genocide" is being actively avoided by our world leaders.

  • 10. The Cultural Differences Between Myanmar And The United... Since I am employed by Acme Overseas Constructors to develop country assessments to investigate the potential for Acme entering the construction market in Myanmar (Burma), Mexico, and Turkey, I am required to examine the cultural differences of each country compared to the United States. After that, I need to inspect how those cultural differences may affect business practices in each country. Then, few strategies are to be developed in order for Acme to adapt its business approach to conform to the cultural expectations. More strategies should be adopted to ensure that Acme's managers and workers conform to the cultural expectations. Based on cultural behaviors, it is easy to assess how the productivity of a local work force is influenced in each country. Cultural differences are many and not limited to what are provided in this case study. One of the cultural differences between Myanmar and the United States is the usage of titles. In Myanmar, it is required to call wise and old people by their positions whereas it is preferable to call people by their first names (Mutchler, n.d.). In addition to the titles, Burmese think of the head as sacred and not to be touched by anyone while feet are dirty and shouldn't be used for pointing (Go–Myanmar.com, 2015). Moreover, unless a woman wishes to shake hands, she should not be touched unlike in the United States where it is acceptable to touch women. • 11. Women From Vietnam And Myanmar With the first round of little emperors being in their 30s now, they are finding a shortage of women as a result of the biased culture that favored them. They complain that there are no women, so they cannot fulfill their duty to carry on their family name, as they have no one to bear their children. As a result, women are increasingly treated as a commodity. In some ways, that could be good for women, having a better pick of who to marry, maybe even having better treatment later in life and with higher education just to make it look like there is an even playing field. However, any benefit to women now would be reactionary and superficial. Today's men who have grown up thinking the world revolves around them and being taught that they deserve everything they want and more, have now taken to acting out in violence. With the shortage of women, brides are being purchased from Vietnam and Myanmar to satisfy the demand. Girls and young women in China are being kidnapped and sold as brides or worse all throughout the country. There are girls going missing at an alarming rate, but the media does not cover such things as they do in the US or the UK. The media does not want to damage the reputation of an area, so they will keep quiet about missing children, where elsewhere in the world, a kidnapped little girl will make national news until she is found. • 12. Identity Conflict In Myanmar : Political And Social Conflict The Buddhists who have had dominant political and social influence in society have bullied the Muslims and use multiple modes of threat against Muslims. Though some of the causal mechanisms are more evident, they all overlap and intertwine to help give a full explanation of the conflict in Myanmar. In 1982, the government passed the Burmese nationality law that denied Rohingya Muslims from being citizens. This creates an identity conflict within the group of Rohingya Muslims. Checkel's piece on constructivism helps best understand and implore new social policies ensue conflict. Checkel describes constructivism as "a story of boundedly rational individuals (note – not instrumentally rational) taking cues from their social environment that then lead them to enact certain roles; this is the underlying dynamic in March and Olsen's (1998) logic of appropriateness". Checkel's theory of constructivism helps understand how institutions such as the government and the religion of Buddhism play a large and intertwining role with agents in conflicts. Institutions, such as the government, build social and community environments which could benefit or harm both parties of conflict. The influence of institutions is an indicator that this conflict is best viewed by a "soft" approach, meaning identities are formed by elites, or top–down. • 13. Ethnic Cleansing In The Rohingya Ethnic cleansing has not been recognized by the United Nations as an independent crime. Although, it has been recognized as trying to rid one group of people from an area to make the other group ethnically homogenous. To do this a group can try to promote fear in another group making them want to leave so they do not feel safe anymore. Some of these acts can include murder, torture, rape, etc. (Ethnic Cleansing, Un.org) This is exactly what is happening to the Rohingya in Myanmar. They are being forced to leave their home and escape to neighboring countries because of persecution by the primarily Buddhist, Myanmar. They are not allowed citizenship, are forced to relocate, and been attacked by the Myanmar government on several occasions. The term inherently flame resistant fabric is one that is used for fabrics that do not required the addition of flame retardant chemicals after the yarns have been spun or the fabric has been woven or knitted. The yarns of these fabric use only fibres that are naturally flame resistant. The common theme is no flame retardant chemicals are added to the yarn or fabric. Unlike inherent fabrics, flame resistant treated fabrics(flame retardant fabrics) have the flame retardant chemicals added to the fabric after it has been woven or knitted. Most of the chemicals used for fire retardant finishing of cotton textile are synthetic compounds and they are available in the market. • 16. The Sociology of Development: Case Study of Myanmar The present paper's aim is to consider the sociology of development as illustrated in the case study of Myanmar, with special focus on the causes of underdevelopment that can be correlated with the modernization and dependency theories, along with comparing the country of study with U.S.A. in terms of democracy, and finally offering insight into the close relationship between state and religion. Starting with 1970, theorists referred to the dependency theory by arguing that trade with wealthy countries does not benefit underdeveloped ones, and consequently enforces upon them a status of structural dependence. Upon registering this consideration, elites of developing countries reacted by openly acknowledging it, because it placed the focus on global capitalism, and thus exempted or, more likely, minimized the part that poverty played in the mechanism of internal issues or the local– based corruption (Inglehart and Welzel, 2009, p. 35). Hence, the consensus was established in Third World nations that they would withdraw from global markets and instate some import policies instead, for the purpose of making global exploitation obsolete. However, in the past few years it became clear that isolationist practices and import substitution strategies have not been very successful in further developing poor countries, seeing as nations least involved with global trade, such as Myanmar, have registered slow progress. • 17. The Causes Of Refugees In Myanmar Meanwhile in Myanmar, the world is having another ethnic cleansing. The social and political unrest between Myanmar's Buddhists and the small minority group of Rohingya people has escalated atrociously. There have been accounts of murder, rape, assault, abuse, and burning of homes and mosques. At first the government completely denied any of these events, but it became hard to cover it up when half a million people were fleeing for their lives to neighboring countries. Neighboring countries of Myanmar, who usually stay out of each other's internal affairs, now are getting involved as they cannot turn a blind eye to genocide. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said in December, "The world cannot sit by and watch genocide taking place. The world cannot just say 'look, it is not our problem'". However, the massive amount of refugees is problematic for the host countries and for the refugees themselves. Bangladesh has started putting a ban on refugees entering. Refugees live in squalor and camps set up in the middle of nowhere with makeshift roofs and floors. People are sick and injured and starving. This life of a refugee, that some of us may conjure up an image, is not the same as reality. As Hannah Ardent wrote, the term refugee is used all wrong. It's time for families and friends gathering, music, foods, dances, parades, and it also is a time to do good deeds, washing away one's sin of the previous year with water, and welcoming to a new year. Even though I have been here at Yangon for three years, I felt like the Thingyan spirit has touched me for a long time. When I see Myanmar celebrating Thingyan, I miss Christmas time of my own country. Christmas also is time to love and do good deeds to the people. The celebrations of Thingyan and Christmas are unique in their own ways, but, for me, both occasions give me an inspiration to embrace the new year with a fresh start. I thank the Thingyan Committee allowing me to speak in this ceremony, and I am honored to speak on behalf of the government of the United Sates. We can't talk about Thingyan without mentioning Pathout Pan (gum–kino flower). It's the flower that blooms when the time of water festival comes. It's a symbol of Thingyan. • 31. Ethnic Tensions Of Myanmar And The Rohingya Crisis : A... Ethnic Tensions in Myanmar and the Rohingya Crisis: A Transnational Issue Sara Ahmed PSC 135 Word Count: 1885 "I pledge on my honor that I have done this work with honesty and integrity, without giving or receiving unauthorized assistance." In June and October 2012, Myanmar, also known as Burma, saw two surges in violent ethnic conflict between the Rohingya, a minority Muslim group, and Burmese Buddhists who constitute the majority population in the country. The conflict was centered in the Rakhine state in western Myanmar, a region home to about 800,000 Rohingyas. The violence occurring among civilians was exacerbated by the majority Buddhist police and military forces meant to contain the situation. Police brutality, torture, rape, and the destruction of Rohingya homes were widely reported during and after the conflicts. In total, approximately 280 people were killed, 135,000 people displaced, and 8,500 homes were destroyed (Ullah 2016). Senior officials from UNHCR mid November 2016, more than four years after the Rakhine conflicts, expressed fears of continued "collective punishment" for the Rohingyas because of the past violence, resulting in ethnic cleansing ("Myanmar" 2016; "Bangladesh" 2016). Ethnic strife between the two groups date back more than 30 years ago, but the 2012 events and the effects of its aftermath have helped shape the current landscape of Rohingya–Buddhist relations. • 32. Electronic Medical Records In Myanmar Introduction Background of the Study Poor health information system has been a major challenge in healthcare delivery in many developing countries due to limited financial resources. Health information technology provides to collect, organize and present medical information in a system that will make it useful to all healthcare professionals (Robert E Hoyt, 2014). Electronic medical records (EMR) are a vital and basic part of the implementation of information technology in the healthcare industry. EMR systems have gained wide traction in the recent years in many countries worldwide as a good solution for them to overcome most of their problems in healthcare delivery services. While most hospitals and clinics in developed countries have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among many potential advantages that EMR system bring, most tangible benefit is that changing to EMR system can help in generating unique patient identification and maintaining all information of a specific patient within a record under one unique ID (Joaquin A. Blaya, 2010). One of the biggest issues that used to happen in many developing hospitals is that patients receive a new serial number and new record each time they attend the hospital. The result of multiple encounters with different healthcare providers may lead to fragmentation of the patient's record. Having a unique ID will prevent disintegration of medical record of each patient so that medical records can become more complete and reliable (Abdulai, 2009). From operating EMR system, unnecessary overloaded workforce of paper chart reviews can be reduced, and retrieving patient data, lab or x–ray results can be much easier (Robert E Hoyt, 2014) (Dr. Jitendranath Mungara, 2017). Another less noticeable benefit of EMR in long term use is its potential ability to reduce healthcare costs and improve quality of healthcare by reducing duplication of investigations and adverse drug events (Nolwazi Candice Sikhondze, 2016). EMR system thus facilitates productivity and efficiency through increased coordination of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Is Myanmar A Greater Risk Of Political Violence? In this memo I argue that Myanmar is likely to be a greater risk of political violence. From the theoretical perspective, there is a curvilinear relationship between the level of democracy and political violence; from the empirical perspective, the problems with legislation system, minority and religion, and natural resources lead to aggravation of violence. Before 2010, Myanmar experienced the transition from Autocracy to Democracy. In 2010, the Union Solidarity and Development Party in Myanmar won the new round of election and formed a military–backed new government, then began a series of political and economics reforms, including the release of pro–democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest and general amnesties for over 200 political prisoners, and a new labor law that allows labor unions and strikes. These reforms have been seen as a new round of democratization in Myanmar, however, the consequence of Myanmar reforms are debated worldwide. Some people argue that these reforms are indicators of progresses of democratization, while others believe they triggered more conflicts in Myanmar, which made the situation there more instable and complicated. The Theoretical Analysis of Transitions to Democracy According to Lars–Erik Cederman, "While the democratic–peace hypothesis has been accepted by most scholars, there is still controversy concerning the possibility that democratization processes may well trigger political violence." • 38. Myanmar Genocide: A Comparative Analysis While studying genocides in class and having the opportunity to have an insight on twelve different genocides that have occurred in the world, I have learned a lot about what mankind is truly like. Disregarding race, gender, religion, and where we live, every human being is the same in regards of what drives them. Mankind is always after superiority over everyone else and after resources they don't currently have. Due to this, conflicts arise which often lead to genocides and war. Through every genocide we have studied in class, from the Native American genocide to the Myanmar genocide, I have noticed that every genocide starts because one group wants to be superior over the other group and also wants something the other group has that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority sees themselves as superior and in control of the minority, and often times they want to force the minority out of their country and ultimately destroy the minority off the face of the earth. The majority usually has a group of people who are in charge, usually the government, who plan, organize, and oversee the entire genocide. Since the creation of mankind, we have always been after one thing: money. Whether that was actual dollar amounts or resources, money has been the initial cause of every conflict, genocide, and war. For future generations to come, I do not see an end to genocides occurring, but actually more genocides to arise. Also, as a society, we cannot prevent genocides from occurring because people will always be in a conflict over money, resources, and power. However, we can fix the problem by putting a stop to genocides quicker instead of letting them drag on, but as a species we need to be the bigger person in the situation and step up to the problem instead of just allowing it to get ... • 40. Essay On Myanmar Genocide In light of our recent lectures, I found it fitting to speak about the situation that is currently taking place in Myanmar. The Myanmar government is being accused of extremely hostile actions against the Rohingya people in their country. This includes the burning of villages, rape, and murder. Many of the Rohingya have fled the country in search of asylum. This news story specifically addresses how Amnesty International, a human rights organization, has released evidence of the government's actions and how, as expected, the Myanmar government is denying every accusation. Amnesty International reports that almost 400,000 people have fled from Myanmar and entered Bangladesh for refuge. Regarding this predicament that has been taking place for quite some time and very recently grew worse, officials of the UN have been shifting on whether or not to use the term "ethnic cleansing." The actual term of "genocide" is being actively avoided by our world leaders. Amnesty International's proof includes video, satellite photos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regarding the stages of genocide, the country was separated into the Rohingya and the Buddhists a very long time ago.
