2. DEFINITION
It is a type of cancer that forms
in tissues of the breast, usually
the ducts (tubes that carry milk
to the nipple) and lobules
(glands that make milk). It can
occur in men and
women, although male breast
cancer is rare.

3. CAUSES
- Age and gender: the risk of breast cancer increases as
you age. Most cases of advanced breast cancer in
women over age 50.
- Heritage: you have a higher risk for breast cancer if you
have a close relative who has had this type of cancer, like
cervical cancer, ovarian cancer or colon cancer.
- Genes: Some people have genes that make them more
likely to develop breast cancer.
- Menstrual cycle: women who start their periods early
(before age 12) or went through menopause late (after
age 55)

4. - Alcohol consumption: consumption of more than 1
or 2 glasses of alcohol a day
- Childbirth: Women who have never had children or
who had them only after age 30 have an increased
risk of developing breast cancer.
- Radiation: if you received radiation therapy as a
child or young adult to treat cancer of the chest
area
- Breast implants, using antiperspirants, and wearing
underwire bras do raise breast cancer risk.
