• Dapsone is derivative from diphenylsulphone
and is actually
bis(4-aminophenyl) sulphone
• PHYSICAL PROPERTIES :-
• It is white or creamy white crystalline powder .
• Slightly soluble in water
• It is freely soluble in ethanol.
• It is soluble in mineral acids.
• It melts at 175-176*c.
4. CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:-
• Since it contains two aromatic primary amino
groups .
• It can be diazotised by treatment with HCL and
sodium nitrate and the resulting compound
coupled with b-naphthol to give an orange red
azo dye.

7. SOLAPSONE
• Solapsone Is The Tetrasodium Sulphonate
Derivative Of
Dapsone.
• It Is Also Used In The Treatment of Leprosy But
It Is Consider As Less Potent.

Giving Cinnamaldehyde , Sulphurous Acid And A

Compounds.

9. CLOFAZIMINE
• This is iminophenazine dye which is used as an
antileprotic
agent.

• It Is Fine Powder Without Odour.
• It Is Practically Insoluble In Water But Soluble In
Chloroform , Dioxan , And Dimethylformamide.
• It is slightly soluble in ethanol (95%) and very
slightly soluble
in ether.
10. CHEMICALPROPERTIES:--
• When it is dissolve in water and hydrochloric acid is
added , an intense violet colour is produced . if the
sodium hydroxide solution is added to this , the colour
changes to orange red.

• Antileprotic drug . it is orally active and is used
as a component of multidrug therapy of
leprosy.
• It is also used as a second line drugs in dapsone resistant
cases

• It is also a phenolic ether and a tertiary
aromatic amine.
