 Elixir it is liquid dosage form.
 It is a HYDRO ALCOHOLIC product.
 It is taken by oral route for sedation &
hypontic allergy disorder.
 It is also contaion antibiotic.
 It is highly stable than syrup.

 Chloral hydrate elixir, Piperazine elixir,
Phenobarbitone elixir.

 Chloroform (1:1) it is used in the form
of double strength Alcohol
concentrated.

7. SWEETING AGENT:
 Glycerol
 Sorbital
 Propylene glycol
 Sodium saccharin
◦ Saccharin helpful in concealing the
bitterness of some antibiotics
 Example:
 Neomycin

8. COLOURING AGENT:
 Amaranth (magenta red).
 Compound tartrazine (saffron).
 Green S and Tartrazine (green).
