2. DAPSONE(DDS)
• Dapsone is derivative from diphenylsulphone and is actually
bis(4-aminophenyl) sulphone
• PHYSICAL PROPERTIES :-
• It is white or creamy white crystalline powder .
• Slightly soluble in water
• It is freely soluble in ethanol.
• It is soluble in mineral acids.
• It melts at 175-176*c.
3. CHEMICAL PROPERTIES :-
• Since it contains two aromatic primary amino groups .
• It can be diazotised by treatment with HCL and sodium nitrate
and the resulting compound coupled with b-naphthol to give
an orange red azo dye.
4. STABILITY AND STORAGE :-
• Since it is affected by light, store it in well closed light resistant
container
• Use: -
• Antileprotic drugs
• It is also used in combination with pyrimethamine in the
treatment of chloroquine resistant malaria.
6. SOLAPSONE
• Solapsone Is The Tetrasodium Sulphonate Derivative Of
Dapsone.
• It Is Also Used In The Treatment of Leprosy But It Is Consider
As Less Potent.

• Insoluble In Alcohol
7. • Acid Catalysed Hydrolysis Decomposes Solapsone Giving
Cinnamaldehyde , Sulphurous Acid And A Dapsone Salt. Due To
Presence Of Cinnamaldehyde And Sulpharous Acid , The Resulting
Solutions Answers The Reactions Of Unsaturated Compounds.

8. CLOFAZIMINE
• This is iminophenazine dye which is used as an antileprotic
agent.

• Dark Red Crystal Or Reddish Brown
• It Is Fine Powder Without Odour.
• It Is Practically Insoluble In Water But Soluble In Chloroform ,
Dioxan , And Dimethylformamide.
• It is slightly soluble in ethanol (95%) and very slightly soluble
in ether.
9. CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:--
• When it is dissolve in water and hydrochloric acid is added ,
an intense violet colour is produced . if the sodium hydroxide
solution is added to this , the colour changes to orange red.

• USE:-
• Antileprotic drug . it is orally active and is used as a
component of multidrug therapy of leprosy.
• It is also used as a second line drugs in dapsone resistant cases
• It has inflammatory action also.
10. THIAMBUTOSINE
• Thiambutosine is a thiourea derivative
• It is also a phenolic ether and a tertiary aromatic amine.
