WHY HESCF
HE Space takes social responsibility seriously.
HESCF was founded on the conviction that some values of HE Space needed to be made more concrete. Setting up HESCF gave shape to the value of ‘social responsibility’. Through the involvement of employees in project proposals and the financial support of the company there is a definite link between HESCF and HE Space .
Goal: To support underprivileged children and give them access to good education
:” Education is as important as food, for each and every person in society. As an employer of 152 highly educated engineers and technicians from the European high-technology space business we are convinced that every lost chance for education in the world has a negative impact for future society.”
Motto: To raise up an astronaut
Strategy 2013
Move the Foundation close to HE Space both physically and organisationally.
2012
Science education Timor
The first project was initiated by Rebecca Barnes and focused on Universe Aware-ness in Timor as we shared with you in our last newsletter.
Building a classroom
The second project was proposed by Carolina Nogueira Loddo —the expansion of a Goiás community nursery/school—in Brazil. This project is being executed as we speak. The classroom has been built and the final things are being done so that the school can start using the classroom and the additional facilities.
20 computers to Burundi
The third project was proposed by James Carpenter and focuses on providing a vo-cational school in Burundi with 20 computers. It is a school with 529 pupils and only 7 computers! Our computers are being transported by an organization called Tools to Work and are on their way to Burundi.
Education material Nicaragua
The fourth project was proposed by Lena Meyer. In her proposal she asked HESCF to support a home for underprivileged children in Nicaragua with educational materials and furniture. The goal is to create a better learning environment for these children. Educational materials and furniture have already been purchased. We are now waiting for pictures and her report. In the next newsletter we will give you an update on the projects.
