Audience Analysis Assignment
The assignment I chose to revise, is our first assignment of the semester. The audience analysis
assignment. I chose this one because I had the hardest time with it. It also had the most
grammatical and technical errors so I decided to go back and revise so I can get a better
understanding of what I did wrong and how to fix it for the next time.
Organization
The essay was a little unorganized and jumped around a lot, so after properly reviewing it I
realized that the essay needed to flow a little more so that the audience could get a simpler and
clearer understanding of the essay. Because, I did not use heading I need to be to appropriately use
the sections so that each one stood on its own and had a clear and precise subject on its own. So, I
went through and reread each section and ended up changing them around so that it flowed smoother
and had completed thoughts.
Completeness
Overall, the analysis was complete. It had a complete thought and theme that flowed throughout the
essay. However, because of the organization of the essay, it was somewhat lost in the jumble of it
all. I also noticed that in my subject choice, I failed to able to expand on the two websites more
because they were so limited in the information that they gave.

I didn't adjust the topic sentence issue and left that as it was. I realized that in several of my
paragraphs I had unnecessary words, or information that had nothing to do with that particular
paragraph. I had to go back and organize these paragraphs, I also noticed that they seemed kind
wordy. I tried to fix this by taking out some of the unnecessary words, which did help with keeping
the information centered on the topic of that particular paragraph. Most of my paragraphs were short
and sweet. Only one exceeded the rest and I couldn't find anything that I wanted to

Audience Analysis:
Characteristics of my Classroom Audience
Audience analysis is described as the process of examining information about your listeners. Then
using that analysis helps you adapt your message so that your listeners will respond as you wish
(Steven A. and Susan J. Beebe, 2015). It is highly important to read your audience when presenting a
speech, the first thing I noticed about my classroom audience was everyone has a good sense of
humor and were open minded as to what they might be hearing. In this paper I will be analyzing
my classroom audience and describing how they might react to my speeches and what is the best
way to present my speeches. I will discuss the differences between each person and how their
views will shape my speeches as a whole because ultimately I must appeal to my audience. When
I gave my first speech to the class about my life I was very nervous, I didn't know any of these
people and they didn't know me, but by the end of my speech I realized it wasn't that bad and we
all get stage fright so it was okay that I was nervous. I saw then how understanding my audience
was and they won't judge my speeches as a whole based off of one mishap. While standing in front
of the class presenting I saw a lot of head nodes indicating to me that they were following along
with what my life was about and they showed interest by laughing, and by doing these thing they we
unknowingly giving me feedback about how I was doing and weather they liked what they

Essay on Audience Analysis
Audience Analysis1 In this audience analysis, I have addressed a situation in which I am called on
to present quarterly sales information at an in–person meeting to a group of stakeholders, including
managers, salespeople, and customers. I will explain how I will address the communication to this
audience by answering the following questions: (1) What characteristics of the audience must I
consider?, (2) What communication channels are appropriate? (3) What are some considerations to
keep in mind given the diversity of the audience?, and (4) How would I ensure that my message is
effective? The characteristics of the audience that I must consider when addressing the audience are

An example of face to face presentation might include showing graphs, spreadsheets, power point

concentration on the audience that I am speaking to. In starting an effective presentation, 2 the
considerations of the audience are critical to achieving a success. The main reason is the various
characteristics of the target audience and the communication channels have to be sufficient and
appropriate to convey the message to the audience effectively. Using a presentation of quarterly sales
information at an in–person meeting to a group of stakeholders for analyzing the audience allow to
explore the various characteristics' of this diverse group of individuals who include managers, sales

is necessary for analysis to best illustrate the necessary considerations that are important in
performing this presentation effectively. Some considerations to keep in mind given

Writing The Audience Analysis
Audience is a very important factor in any writing whether its academically or personal writing.
When writing you have to make sure the content being written can be understood and that readers
can some what relate, for example children's book are written for a child audience and is composed
so that the audience understands the content. In academic writing the audience determines the style
of writing and the style of writing. In play writing the audience is different and there is typically no
format, no style the content is more realxed.
If Professor McHugh is my audience my writings have to be very well organized , edited and be in
the proper format versus if I was writing a friend there is not really a format or organization when I

Audience Analysis: Animal Testing
Audience Analysis: Animal Testing
After Conducting my audience analysis, I found that 5 out of 9 members of my audience are neither
against or for Animal testing. Two members of my audience are for animal testing and the last two
believe it shouldn't even be allowed. After looking at this information I have concluded that my
target audience will be those who are indecisive on whether animal testing is or isn't a problem, as
well as the ones that approve testing on animals. By knowing whom my audience is going to be, I
decided that my speech will be a strengthening commitment speech. I want to convince those that are
not completely against it, that we have different alternatives that can be used and that animals should

Thoughtful Audience Analysis
A quote from Alexander Gregg says, "There are three things to aim at in public speaking: first get
into your subject, then to get your subject into yourself and lastly, to get your subject into the heart
of your audience".When we analysis our audience it helps us with the third item, getting your
subject into the heart of our audience. Basically, the book definition says that audience analysis is
to consider the six major sociological or demographical variables in our audience.Well I think that
audience analysis is to understand the differences and similarities between me and my audience so
that I can give a better speech. Though most of the time we don't know whom are we going to
speak for or how many people will be there. But for our cultural artefact assignment we had our

Some times their might be some situations if the audience end up being different from the one you
expected, in that case we should always avoid communicating with surprise–audience members will

 Finally, understanding your audience who
makes up you targeted will help you set up a plane what to say and adapt what you say to the level
of understanding and background of the listener. Thoughtful audience analysis is one of the best
habit that a speaker can develop. It helps speakers understand their audience's perspective and if
done well your audience analysis will help you focus you message. Knowing your audience like
their gender, education level, age, religion, lounge and culture is the single aspect of developing
your speech. Your audience isn't just a passive group of people who come together by
happenstance to listen to you. Your audience is assembled for a very real and significant reason:
they want to hear what you have to say. So be prepared. The more we understand and know about
our audience and their psychological needs, the better we can prepare out speech and enhanced

Many people struggle with writing a paper because they do not know how to make their paper
appealing to the audience. If you don 't know who the audience is it can lead to many disadvantages
because you would have a lot of criticism. Also, your paper wouldnt be interesting to someone who
doesn't know much about the topic. The audience is the most important thing to worry about in
writing. Sometimes you forget that you're writing not only for your benefits but also the reader 's
benefits too. There are ways to show you how to appeal to and know your type of audience.
Before you can make your paper appealing to the audience, you have to know who your audience
is and why the audience can be important to your paper. "Knowing your audience helps you make
decisions about what information you should include, how you should arrange that information,
and what kind of supporting details will be necessary for the reader to understand what you are
presenting" ("Writing for").Knowing this information can make your paper so much easier
because if you know what your audience is looking for and explaining your topic many people
would be interested in your paper. If you don't know how to arrange a paper to make it revealing it
would be very hard for the audience to know what's going on in your paper. If you want to make your
argument appealing you should dissert your readers. Writing a paper can be lengthy if you don't
know much about the topic you are writing about. You could

Audience Analysis Paper When it comes to writing and presenting a speech, the audience is a big
factor to account for. Who are you speaking to? How do you grab their attention? Where, when, and
why are you speaking to these people? There are a lot of things to consider when there is a
presentation to be given. When analyzing an audience, there is a process in which to go about doing
so. First, identify the characteristics of your audience, whether demographic or situational, then ask
yourself what techniques can help you meet the audience characteristics, and finally what are some
potential problems that could go along with your analysis. By analyzing your audience,...show more

or speech assignment in general audience, time limit of speech, or speech assignment in general? I
would probably be only going over a few things. I do not want talk about everything because of how
limited time I have. Instead I will discuss where to get them, housing, diet and grooming.
Demographic audience analysis:
Age: Most of my classmates are adults which would require me to use wider vocabulary instead of
limiting it.
Other (economy): The economy of the audience would matter. I would have to make them aware
about the cost of maintain a bunny. So, people understand if they can maintain a bunny with their

I will start off with how common rabbits are because I think it will show how many people have

What steps did you take to relate the topic directly to this audience in the introduction?
I will try to demonstrate a scenario of them choosing a rabbit. They would want a rabbit to suit them.
Rabbits would require a lot of knowledge so, if they plan they would need to know some facts
before getting them. For example, fixed bunnies live about 10–12 years.

chose to use it in your speech.
I will use visuals by using a slideshow. I won't put one image for each slide instead put in their
topic strategy because it will be easier to understand the topic for each one. I don't want to confuse
the audience by mixing pictures around so, I'll just put them along with their according

Audience Analysis
1.Audience analysis is the most important part of the writing process for technical writers because
each piece of correspondence must be personalized to whatever demographic you are writing to.
Age, culture, and beliefs of the reader must be considered and taken into account before anything is
sent out. I totally agree with this. If I work at an office and I send a memo to other co–workers I
would write it differently than if it was to s boss or other superiors. The way I communicate with a
friend that is around my age is different than someone that is older than me. Also if I am writing to
someone that doesn't speak English as a first language I have to be careful with the words that I use.
I need to make sure that they can clearly understand me. The subject, tone, sentence structure and
how the audience will react all must be taken into account when writing any type of document.

knowledgeable out of the group. You wouldn't send an email that is meant for an Expert to a
Nonspecialist. The level of understanding is the highest at the expert level. An Expert can understand
something intended for a Nonspecialist but not the other way around. You want to cater to the level

Audience Analysis : My Audience
Audience Analysis: My audience will consist of different age groups, genders, and educational
background. For example, the audience members are made up of ages between 12 years old and
60 years old. Also, there is a diversity of educational background among each audience member. For
instance, two audience members obtained a college degree, as for, three audience members they are
still attending high school. For this reason, I desire to define assertiveness in demeanor for all ages
and educational background to understand. Moreover, each audience member is related to me.
Therefore, each member knows my name, personality, hobbies, parents, and where I live. Also,
since my family is my audience members I then decided on an informal dress code.
I believe my audience will appreciate the information on assertive communication and actions. For
bullying has affected several audience members in the past. Therefore, I will conduct the speech in a
serious and sympathetic manner.
"Why is assertiveness one of the best methods against negative association and worthless thinking?"
General purpose: Informative explanation speech
Specific purpose: To inform my audience of why assertive communication is considered the elite
method of communication.

What is the most important fundamental of communication? Some may argue that fundamental's
such as channels, tone, and bias free language would be considered the most effective when
communicating, but one fundamental many overlook is that of audience analysis. Audience analysis
can be the difference between a mundane communication and an appealing informative type of
communication. So below I will explain why audience analysis is a key fundamental of
communication due to its purpose, demographics, and psychographics.
One of the key fundamentals of effective communicators is the ability to appeal to the audience by
adapting to their psychographic and demographics in order to create a more informative, enjoyable,
and relevant communication. This process is known as audience analysis; audience analysis is an
important piece of communication due to its ability to influence and affect other parts of

Psychographics can range from things such as values, opinion, attitudes, and beliefs that audience
members hold due to culture, upbringing, and life experiences. Psychographics can provide
information in which helps the sender direct their message across clearly. It is believed that audiences
have two preexistent notions that may frame references such as, those of the topic and those of the
communicator. By understanding psychographic analysis it helps you to identify preexistent notions
and identify them in communication and adapt the message in the way that the communicator
means to. Psychographics can be important in delivering a clear message to the audience, such as
two people may agree that they don't eat junk food but the definition in which they label junk food
may be different. So it is important to understand psychographics when considering audience
analysis to convey a clear and impressionable message as well as address preexistent

Audience Analysis
Effective communication in the business world must be mastered to be successful in the competitive
market. Individuals will need to learn about their audience to know the best way to convey their
messages effectively. If individuals do not analyze their audience first, then their messages will be
lost to some of the audience who may not understand the level of language. With diversity in the
business environment, individuals must ensure that when they speak to an audience that they gear
their message to everyone. When addressing a situation in which diversity is present, speakers must
always design communication with the audience in mind.

If the speaker does not know the audience then he or she will interpret the Chinese's eye contact to
be surprised and not angered. The next consideration a speaker must keep in mind is that when
presenting an oral communication, how the speaker carries his or her voice is crucial from the
audience point of view. The speaker's tone of voice, whether rising or lowering the voice, indicates
if he or she is uncertain or confident and whether the speaker is sincere or sarcastic. The pitch of the
speaker's voice from low to high will determine the effectiveness of the presentation. Low–pitched
voices are more pleasant to listen to than high–pitched voices; on the other hand, there are times
when high–pitched voices are required such as to show excitement for goals met. Besides watching
for the voice pitch, the speaker must remember to stress a word or words in the sentence to
emphasize the main points of the presentation. Also the speaker must ensure the volume of his or her
tone can be heard by the audience who sits in the back room without shouting. Speakers who change
their tone, pitch, and stress as they speak are more enthusiastic, energetic, and more intelligent
(Locker & Kienzler, 2008).
To ensure the message is effective, the speaker must state the purpose of the meeting at the
beginning and allow enough time to discuss any questions the audience may have. While making the
presentation, the speaker needs to pay attention to the audience

Over the course of my observations of McComas Gym's weight room, it was easy to figure out
what type of audience would be interested in my essay. Based off this audience, I developed a
persona who represents the weight room community by combining many of the characteristics I
observed in individuals in the weight room. My developed persona is an ideal representative of an
"insider" to the weight room community, as well as a representative of my essay's audience. The type
of audience who would be interested in the essay I wrote would be members of the actual weight

An example of this would be managers using the data I present in my essay about the weight
room to decide which machines they should reduce, and which machines or pieces of equipment

my essay by taking the characteristics of individuals observed in McComas' weight room and
combining them into one persona. Based off of this, the persona is a male Virginia Tech college
student who is familiar with the weight room and the concepts of body building. He is in good
physical shape, and wears typical gym clothing, such as gym shorts, sweatpants, t–shirts, or
wife–beaters. He has long–term experience with the majority of the weight and machines found in
McComas' weight room, and falls into the category of "serious lifters," rather than just an occasional
gym–goer. He is very perseverant in his work out regiment, and has a focused mindset. The
persona I described above is an "insider" of the McComas weight room community, as well as the
larger weight lifting community as a whole. As an insider, my character is a part of the weight

a. What are the elements of persuasive messages? Please write the three–step writing process for
persuasive messages.
Answer:
Elements of Persuasive Message
In the workplace, a persuasive message occurs when a person attempts to convince an individual or
group to take certain specific actions. The two types of persuasive messages in the workplace are
sales and marketing, which are utilized to achieve organizational objectives to inform, influence and
persuade consumers to buy.
Following are the Elements in a Persuasive Message;
1. Audience Analysis: While writing persuasive letters, you need to consider the person or people
who will read it, that is, the audience. Familiarity of the audience and likeliness of the content are
two main things to be considered during audience analysis. Depending one these basis one can
decide how to go about persuading the target audience.
2. Appeals: Appeal is used when you try to convince someone to do something. When using an
appeal, one tries to show readers how doing what you are suggesting will help them achieve

Audience Analysis
Analyzing the Audience: Analysis of the audience is an important part of the presentation of a
speech that precedes the selection of a topic. This process requires asking specific questions
regarding the topic in order to understand the interests, knowledge, and attitudes of the audience
towards the topic. As part of adopting strategies and methods to ensure effectiveness of
communication, analyzing the audience is vital for audience identification. Moreover, this process
enables the speaker to choose the appropriate means of communication that ensures that the message
is delivered appropriately. Analyzing the audience is also a vital point in speech presentation
because of its impact on the direction of the speech.
Demographic Factors to Consider About Audience: Audience analysis is basically described as the
process that guides the preparation and examination of any well–structured speech. This process
requires the speaker to analyze the audience before, during, and after the delivery of the speech.
However, audience analysis is hugely conducted before the presentation of the speech than during
the act of speaking. One of the first and critical steps of the process of audience analysis is the
examination of the demographic factors. This is followed by the evaluation of the socio–economic,
psychographic, and environmental characteristics of the audience (Atkins–Sayre, n.d.). As part of
the preparation for the speech, some of the demographic factors to consider about

Target Audience Analysis Paper
In this paper, we analysed the target audience, big and small differences, content, and ways to
improve the annual report. The Hershey Company's Annual Report and 10K have many differences
and few similarities, where each document is written to communicate financial statement disclosures
to its intended audience.
Targeted Audiences for each Report
The annual report and 10K are composed based on their different audiences. The U.S. Securities
and Exchange Commission's requires every public company to publish their finances in a 10K, and
The Hershey Company is no exception. The purpose of Hershey's 10K is to give a thorough

Because each document has a separate idea that they're trying to get across to their audience, the
length is dirasticaly different between the two reports. Hershey's 10K Report is 108 pages long,
which is must shorter compared to the lengthy 233 page Annual Report. The 10K report is shorter
because its focus is to present the information and not to beat around the bush. The Annual Report
contains more content than the 10K because needs presentable to the stockholders. Adding the
extra length gives the Annual Report space to connect with their audience in a professional, yet
friendly manner. The reports also differ through the useage of color. The Annual Report uses the
colors of brown and silver to stimulate the thought of Hershey candy. Adding the color makes the
report more appealing to the everyday reader. On the other hand, the 10K report uses no color,
sticking to black and white. This keeps the report professional and presents the information in the
simplest way possible. Another way the documents differ in presenting their big ideas is through
the use of pictures, graphs, and charts. A major difference seen between the reports is the Annual
Report's pictures of the board's directors. The Annual Report also uses bar graphs and pie charts,
while the 10K report sticks to general charts and tables. The different charts and graphs in both
reports allow each report to present their

Audience Analysis Essay

  • 1. Audience Analysis Assignment The assignment I chose to revise, is our first assignment of the semester. The audience analysis assignment. I chose this one because I had the hardest time with it. It also had the most grammatical and technical errors so I decided to go back and revise so I can get a better understanding of what I did wrong and how to fix it for the next time. Organization The essay was a little unorganized and jumped around a lot, so after properly reviewing it I realized that the essay needed to flow a little more so that the audience could get a simpler and clearer understanding of the essay. Because, I did not use heading I need to be to appropriately use the sections so that each one stood on its own and had a clear and precise subject on its own. So, I went through and reread each section and ended up changing them around so that it flowed smoother and had completed thoughts. Completeness Overall, the analysis was complete. It had a complete thought and theme that flowed throughout the essay. However, because of the organization of the essay, it was somewhat lost in the jumble of it all. I also noticed that in my subject choice, I failed to able to expand on the two websites more because they were so limited in the information that they gave. Style...show more content... I had to go back and organize these paragraphs, I also noticed that they seemed kind wordy. I tried to fix this by taking out some of the unnecessary words, which did help with keeping the information centered on the topic of that particular paragraph. Most of my paragraphs were short and sweet. Only one exceeded the rest and I couldn't find anything that I wanted to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Audience Analysis: Characteristics of my Classroom Audience Audience analysis is described as the process of examining information about your listeners. Then using that analysis helps you adapt your message so that your listeners will respond as you wish (Steven A. and Susan J. Beebe, 2015). It is highly important to read your audience when presenting a speech, the first thing I noticed about my classroom audience was everyone has a good sense of humor and were open minded as to what they might be hearing. In this paper I will be analyzing my classroom audience and describing how they might react to my speeches and what is the best way to present my speeches. I will discuss the differences between each person and how their views will shape my speeches as a whole because ultimately I must appeal to my audience. When I gave my first speech to the class about my life I was very nervous, I didn't know any of these people and they didn't know me, but by the end of my speech I realized it wasn't that bad and we all get stage fright so it was okay that I was nervous. I saw then how understanding my audience was and they won't judge my speeches as a whole based off of one mishap. While standing in front of the class presenting I saw a lot of head nodes indicating to me that they were following along with what my life was about and they showed interest by laughing, and by doing these thing they we unknowingly giving me feedback about how I was doing and weather they liked what they Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I will explain how I will address the communication to this audience by answering the following questions: (1) What characteristics of the audience must I consider?, (2) What communication channels are appropriate? (3) What are some considerations to keep in mind given the diversity of the audience?, and (4) How would I ensure that my message is effective? The characteristics of the audience that I must consider when addressing the audience are the primary stakeholders....show more content... Audience Analysis: Animal Testing Audience Analysis: Animal Testing After Conducting my audience analysis, I found that 5 out of 9 members of my audience are neither against or for Animal testing. Two members of my audience are for animal testing and the last two believe it shouldn't even be allowed. After looking at this information I have concluded that my target audience will be those who are indecisive on whether animal testing is or isn't a problem, as well as the ones that approve testing on animals. Thoughtful Audience Analysis A quote from Alexander Gregg says, "There are three things to aim at in public speaking: first get into your subject, then to get your subject into yourself and lastly, to get your subject into the heart of your audience".When we analysis our audience it helps us with the third item, getting your subject into the heart of our audience. • 7. Many people struggle with writing a paper because they do not know how to make their paper appealing to the audience. If you don 't know who the audience is it can lead to many disadvantages because you would have a lot of criticism. Also, your paper wouldnt be interesting to someone who doesn't know much about the topic. The audience is the most important thing to worry about in writing. Sometimes you forget that you're writing not only for your benefits but also the reader 's benefits too. There are ways to show you how to appeal to and know your type of audience. Before you can make your paper appealing to the audience, you have to know who your audience is and why the audience can be important to your paper. "Knowing your audience helps you make decisions about what information you should include, how you should arrange that information, and what kind of supporting details will be necessary for the reader to understand what you are presenting" ("Writing for").Knowing this information can make your paper so much easier because if you know what your audience is looking for and explaining your topic many people would be interested in your paper. If you don't know how to arrange a paper to make it revealing it would be very hard for the audience to know what's going on in your paper. If you want to make your argument appealing you should dissert your readers. Writing a paper can be lengthy if you don't know much about the topic you are writing about. • 10. Audience Analysis Audience Audience Analysis 1.Audience analysis is the most important part of the writing process for technical writers because each piece of correspondence must be personalized to whatever demographic you are writing to. Age, culture, and beliefs of the reader must be considered and taken into account before anything is sent out. I totally agree with this. If I work at an office and I send a memo to other co–workers I would write it differently than if it was to s boss or other superiors. The way I communicate with a friend that is around my age is different than someone that is older than me. Also if I am writing to someone that doesn't speak English as a first language I have to be careful with the words that I use. I need to make sure that they can clearly understand me. The subject, tone, sentence structure and how the audience will react all must be taken into account when writing any type of document. 2.The four types of audiences are a.Experts b.Technicians c.Executives d.Nonspecialists...show more content... You wouldn't send an email that is meant for an Expert to a Nonspecialist. The level of understanding is the highest at the expert level. For instance, two audience members obtained a college degree, as for, three audience members they are still attending high school. For this reason, I desire to define assertiveness in demeanor for all ages and educational background to understand. Moreover, each audience member is related to me. Therefore, each member knows my name, personality, hobbies, parents, and where I live. Also, since my family is my audience members I then decided on an informal dress code. I believe my audience will appreciate the information on assertive communication and actions. For bullying has affected several audience members in the past. Therefore, I will conduct the speech in a serious and sympathetic manner. "Why is assertiveness one of the best methods against negative association and worthless thinking?" • 13. Essay On Audience Analysis Paper What is the most important fundamental of communication? Some may argue that fundamental's such as channels, tone, and bias free language would be considered the most effective when communicating, but one fundamental many overlook is that of audience analysis. Audience analysis can be the difference between a mundane communication and an appealing informative type of communication. So below I will explain why audience analysis is a key fundamental of communication due to its purpose, demographics, and psychographics. One of the key fundamentals of effective communicators is the ability to appeal to the audience by adapting to their psychographic and demographics in order to create a more informative, enjoyable, and relevant communication. This process is known as audience analysis; audience analysis is an important piece of communication due to its ability to influence and affect other parts of communication such as tone, style,...show more content... Psychographics can range from things such as values, opinion, attitudes, and beliefs that audience members hold due to culture, upbringing, and life experiences. Psychographics can provide information in which helps the sender direct their message across clearly. It is believed that audiences have two preexistent notions that may frame references such as, those of the topic and those of the communicator. By understanding psychographic analysis it helps you to identify preexistent notions and identify them in communication and adapt the message in the way that the communicator means to. Psychographics can be important in delivering a clear message to the audience, such as two people may agree that they don't eat junk food but the definition in which they label junk food may be different. So it is important to understand psychographics when considering audience analysis to convey a clear and impressionable message as well as address preexistent Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Audience Analysis Effective communication in the business world must be mastered to be successful in the competitive market. Individuals will need to learn about their audience to know the best way to convey their messages effectively. If individuals do not analyze their audience first, then their messages will be lost to some of the audience who may not understand the level of language. With diversity in the business environment, individuals must ensure that when they speak to an audience that they gear their message to everyone. When addressing a situation in which diversity is present, speakers must always design communication with the audience in mind. To achieve effective communication in a diverse audience, speakers must consider the characteristics ...show more content... If the speaker does not know the audience then he or she will interpret the Chinese's eye contact to be surprised and not angered. The next consideration a speaker must keep in mind is that when presenting an oral communication, how the speaker carries his or her voice is crucial from the audience point of view. The speaker's tone of voice, whether rising or lowering the voice, indicates if he or she is uncertain or confident and whether the speaker is sincere or sarcastic. The pitch of the speaker's voice from low to high will determine the effectiveness of the presentation. Low–pitched voices are more pleasant to listen to than high–pitched voices; on the other hand, there are times when high–pitched voices are required such as to show excitement for goals met. Besides watching for the voice pitch, the speaker must remember to stress a word or words in the sentence to emphasize the main points of the presentation. Also the speaker must ensure the volume of his or her tone can be heard by the audience who sits in the back room without shouting. Speakers who change their tone, pitch, and stress as they speak are more enthusiastic, energetic, and more intelligent (Locker & Kienzler, 2008). To ensure the message is effective, the speaker must state the purpose of the meeting at the beginning and allow enough time to discuss any questions the audience may have. While making the presentation, the speaker needs to pay attention to the audience Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Based off this audience, I developed a persona who represents the weight room community by combining many of the characteristics I observed in individuals in the weight room. My developed persona is an ideal representative of an "insider" to the weight room community, as well as a representative of my essay's audience. I developed a character to be a representative of the main audience for my essay by taking the characteristics of individuals observed in McComas' weight room and combining them into one persona. Based off of this, the persona is a male Virginia Tech college student who is familiar with the weight room and the concepts of body building. He is in good physical shape, and wears typical gym clothing, such as gym shorts, sweatpants, t–shirts, or wife–beaters. He has long–term experience with the majority of the weight and machines found in McComas' weight room, and falls into the category of "serious lifters," rather than just an occasional gym–goer. He is very perseverant in his work out regiment, and has a focused mindset. The persona I described above is an "insider" of the McComas weight room community, as well as the larger weight lifting community as a whole. As an insider, my character is a part of the weight lifting community rather than just an observer. In the case of the specific community which I chose to write about, I believed that an insider persona would be better suited to represent the audience I am writing to versus an outsider, simply Get more content on HelpWriting.net
