Essay on Public Speech
Public Speech1. To give a good speech you must adapt your speech to your audience. There are
two steps in the adaptaion process. First, there is preparation before the speech. This is done may
times by having your audience fill out an audience analysis form, this will give you the
demographics on your audience and allow you to adapt your speech accordingly. The second part
of adapting your speech is during the speech. This is done by paying attention to your audience
while you are giving the speech. You must adapt your speech so that the audience is able to
understand and are convinced by our speech. Also, you need to assess how you think the audience
will respond to what you are saying. 2. There are several ways to gauge...show more content...
First you should fall back on all the information you already know. The library and the internet
would both be very helpful in researching the topic. In the library one could use encyclopedias, as
well as books on the topic of world hunger. It is possible to use periodicals and magazine articles
from the library too. The web would also be a good source of information. You could use various
search engines to find sites on world hunger, but you must be careful that the sites you visit are
viable. An alternative is going to an already established site, such as CNN, and then search those
sites for an article about the topic. 4. When using statistics in your speech you should always
make sure that you information is accurate. You should also make sure not to use too many
statistics, or your work will get too bogged down with numbers. You should also make sure that
the statistics you gather are representative of the total number of people in the group. You should
always identify the sources of your statistics, to prove to your audience that your information is
accurate. It is also a good idea to explain your statistics and why they are important to you specific
purpose. Also, if statistics are complicated and go to the second or third decimal position you should
round them off to the first whole number, so that it will make your information easier to understand.
5. There are five basic patterns of organizing the main points in your speech.

Critique Of A Public Speech
Presenting a speech can have it difficulties, whether it is you not having a loud speaking voice or
nervousness, you still have to have the ability to deliver a great speech to your audience. On
January 20, 1961 over 49 years ago our late President John F. Kennedy presented the Inaugural
Address, in Washington D.C. The weather was very cold, and it was one of the largest crowds at the
Inauguration. As I am watching the speech for the very first time, multiple thoughts are coming to
my head. Here is our President –Elect presenting this speech to us about how much he is going to
help change our county for the better. The beginning first words of his...show more content...
President Kennedy did a wonderful job on presenting his first Inaugural Address. I would not
change anything he did but I am able to take away. He did not change the style of his voice, and
when he made a statement you knew because the way he presented. He was a talented speaker,
and I have learned not to be afraid to speak about what I believe in no matter who the audience. I
have learned to make sure the topic fits your audience because to keep from not becoming
entertained by your speech. I have also learned speak slowly and clearly so everyone will be able
to understand you. Overall when listening and looking a presidential speech you have high
exceptions from that president speaking. I was very amazed at President Kennedy pointing out
issues like racism, and religion among the entire world. He believed in equality and freedom and
was not afraid to say that. He spoke very easily and kind hearted, in a very caring and concerned
voice. Every presidential speech I have seen and watched was only president who delivered and
spoke what was true, President Kennedy, Clinton and Obama. Great changes in America came from
President Kennedy, even though he was in office for only four

Essay about Free Speech
In order to find truth to anything, one must make multiple suggestions, ask many questions, and
sometimes ponder the unspeakable. Without doing so, there would be no process of elimination;
therefore, truth would be virtually unattainable. Now, in our attempts to either find truth, express
our beliefs and opinions, or generally use the rights we are given constitutionally, we are often
being criticized and even reprimanded. Our freedom to voice our opinion(s) is being challenged, as
critics of free speech are taking offense to what seems like anything and everything merely
controversial and arguably prejudice. As people continue to strive for a nation free of prejudice and
discrimination, where everyone is equal, safe and...show more content...
More and more people are finding plenty of (what they consider) bias and prejudice to be offended
by.
The bigger issue regarding our right to free speech has to do with censorship and what may
potentially become of it. If we continue to strive for a society where we can say whatever we
would like, just as long as it doesn't offend anyone, we are losing our rights altogether. Rauch
quotes Salman Rushdie in his defense to allegedly offending millions of people, where he asked:
"What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist"(6). Simply
stated, it is nearly impossible to say anything that wouldn't offend someone; Everyone has their own
perception of what they consider offensive. Being asked to refrain from using offensive language
basically disables you from speaking of anything controversial and therefore we are forced to be
idle–minded automatons. Our search for truth and reasoning will be forced to halt as we will no
longer be allowed to wonder out loud. If the intellectuals, geniuses, and scientists of our past hadn't
been free to ponder the unreasonable, one could assume we wouldn't be where we are today. For no
reason should we be forced to silence our thoughts or not speak of anything unacceptable; the result
could be far more disastrous than offending people.
Naturally, people can only hope for peace and happiness, but attempting to achieve it through
censoring any

Speech Preparation Essay
Speech Preparation Reflection Alicia Ramos COM/110 April 25, 2016 Linda Price Speech
Preparation Reflection The best way to prepare for a presentation, one must consider the best
method, the type of presentation and the audience for a given topic. There are four different types of
presentation methods they are; Impromptu, Extemporaneous Speaking, Using a Manuscript, and
Memorization. Each of the four methods is appropriate in certain situations. Impromptu is a speech
that frequently involves no preparation time and forces you to think on your feet. With no
opportunity to prepare, you must rely on what you know. Extemporaneous is a speech that involves
preparation and practice. This form of delivery has many advantages....show more content...
An explanatory speech might give a description of the state of a given topic. The speaker might use
visual representation of the particular data or statistics. A demonstration speech explains how to do
something. Visualization is the key, on how–to speeches using visual examples that show the
audience how to move from step to step through a particular activity. Audience analysis is a task
that is often performed by technical writers in a project's early stages. It consists of assessing the
audience to make sure the information provided to them is at the appropriate level. Understanding
our audience is one of the most important elements of effective communication. Considering your
audience when creating a presentation can help you tailor your content to give them specifically
what they want, need, and expect. By doing this you are able to deliver a presentation that
engages, informs and persuades. One of the most important parts of your speech is to involve your
audience. We should view our audience as collaborators. Keeping your audience in mind while you
write can help you make good decisions about what material to include, how to organize your ideas,
and how best to support your argument. Speech preparation is the most important element to a
successful presentation, and also the best way to reduce nervousness and combat fear. Some of the
steps I follow are choosing a topic,

Speech Reflection
The midpoint of the semester arrived in parallel to the time we presented our informative speeches. I
have learned a lot of information about improving my communication skills since the first day of
class. So, with that being said there was many things about this that speech that I think I improved
on since the first speech. On the other hand, we were only halfway through the semester when I
presented this speech so there are still many things I hope to improve on. Reflecting on these two
facets will hopefully contribute to the advancement of my public speaking skills.
There were many aspects of my speech I feel I have improved on or just did well on overall. For one,
my eye contact. In my first speech my eye contact was ok consistency–wise. However, it did not
extend to the whole audience range. While presenting my informative speech I remembered this
struggle from my introduction speech. With this in mind I actively reminded myself to scan the
whole class room, not just the middle. As for the eye contact consistency for this speech I also
felt I did a decent job. I would say my eye contact to looking at notes ratio was at least an 8:2. I
owe this to practicing. If I had not have practiced I would have needed to look at my notes a lot
more. Hopefully I can eventually get this ration up to the perfect 9:1 I was aiming for. Bearing this
in mind, I hope I will utilize this insight and remember to practice for my upcoming speeches.
Another detail I think I did good on was

racism speech Essay
For centuries a disease has plagued our nation just like AIDS has Africa, I bet you all are
wondering what this disease is. You probably think that it can be treated with limited breakouts
every few years. The virus I'm talking about is racism. Imagine living every day in fear knowing
that where ever you go, everything you do is being observed and judged. Imagine walking into a
store or a boutique and having someone watch every move of yours thinking that you're going to
steal something, or expose a bomb from under your clothes. Imagine being mocked and hated at
school because you're "different". Imagine being left out because of your skin colour. No one
enjoys being left out, but then, why do people judge? Why do people set a fire of...show more

The employee made sure that nothing had been stolen from the shelfs that he walked past by.
I believe that racism should be stopped because racism can result in acts of physical abuse and
violence. People get mentally and physically hurt by people who are being racist. For example
there was a refugee who was beaten by a racist guy in Wollongong for doing absolutely nothing; he
was punched multiple times before being robbed. The refugee, who had arrived in Australia from
his native Eritrea only five days earlier, required stitches in his left ear and lost a tooth in the ordeal,
this isn't normal in any way. People who get mentally hurt by racist actions can do strange things.
They can start to become racist themselves, or even commit suicide, which is an awful thing.
Racism not only leads to social problems but it also causes mental illness and violence for example,
self–harm, depression and the harming of others. In most cases the victim starts to feel helpless,
isolated, depressed and irritated. Experiencing racism can change a victim's life forever. Nearly
half of all Australian residents from a diverse background have experienced racism at some time in
their life. WHY? Only because they look different? On a Wednesday afternoon a well–dressed 54
year woman in a mustard jacket unleashed a lecture of abuse at other passengers on a Sydney to
Newcastle train, it started because some young kids aged between four and ten didn't automatically
give up their seats
