Rocky Horror Picture Show
I am not sure if it was my time in the Army or that I was now a senior, but I was starting my most
relaxed school year. I still did not have a car, so I was dependent people who were willing to pick
me up, like my friends Stan and Mike. They introduced me to the midnight movies and its most
famous movie, the "Rocky Horror Picture Show." On many Friday and Saturday nights, we were in
the isle seats at the Movies at the Machesney Theater Mall. We were self–appointed directors for
participatory part of the movie, with all the props.
For an introvert, these two were extroverts at the extreme and in those moments, I was alive. Maybe
it was the fact that the movie was about strange misfits who did not care about the world, lived in an
absurd fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I participated in the publications class, where half of the class work was newspaper production.
Harlem had one of the most advanced school papers in the area. We performed every aspect of
newspaper creation: writing, editing, layout, printing and distribution. It was printed at the school by
students who use two offset printing presses. By the time I graduated high school, I had learned the
craft of newsprint from top to bottom. For many years, I used these skills in one capacity or another.
In my last year in high school, I enjoyed myself. The closer the end was, the freer I felt.
I developed a belief that when something went well, something else would be lost or taken. On a
day, I was happy having been commended for my work as an editor and things were going well for
me in the theater, I was reminded what girls really thought of me. As a teenage boy, I had no defense
against the digs from girls. They were part of the ultimate desire that made me so open for this type
of abuse. Oddly, I understood being dejected from a girl I tried to speak with and to be ignored by
others. Even when I could defend myself against the harsh words of a boy, the same words spoken
by a girl became

Sex, Adultery, and Rocky in Rocky Horror Picture Show
Even with its age Rocky Horror Picture Show still portrays fornication, infidelity, and fitting in.
People are usually drawn in by a family connection and their thirst for curiosity conveyed up by the
name of the show alone. Majority of people who attend the shows find themselves in a place where
they feel that they belong. People who normally get called "freaks" go see Rocky because it is a
place where they are no longer considered such heinous things. The people who attend the show
have a specific personality about them that is admired at every show. When you attend RHPS you
come across other people whom similar to you, different. This helps to build companionships and
ties between the one another. It also constructs a family atmosphere in the theater that stays with you
forever. During every show there is random number of "virgins", or first timers, that are to be
sacrificed. These sacrifices are all in fun and are seen as a way of passage into the Rocky
community. Usually first timers sacrifice is long, painless, and completely hilarious. In fact it would
not be half as fun if you did not bring along some people to enjoy the show with you. Soon as the
show started three people where chosen to be sacrificed. Out of the three of them only one was a
male and they made him act as if he were a chair. The two that were left were put inside a poorly
painted black box at one end of the stage while the cast made a toast to the start of the show. The
purpose of being "sacrificed

Rocky Horror Picture Show Imagery
The "Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a musical that takes place in the early 70's, where Brad Majors
and Janet Weiss are on their way to visit an old professor Dr. Everett V. Scott. On their way, there
they experience some mechanical issues. This causes the two of them to wonder back to a castle
they saw in order to get some assistance. Little did they know they would be getting all the help they
needed. They didn't know there was a celebration happening at the Frank–N–Furter place. When
they arrived, they were surprised with what was going on for it was abnormal to them. In this
analytical Essay I, will be explaining the hidden imagery behind things in the motion picture.
Throughout this film the use imagery to show how gender roles come into play. In the beginning of
the movie they are at the end of a wedding. Everyone is outside and watching the bride and groom
as they are about to leave. The bride tosses her bouquet and Janet is competitive and gets the
bouquet. There is more going on here though, Janet is being competitive and women in that time era

In this motion picture, they show the audience how gender roles were portrayed for that time era.
This film compares sex to innocence. This film unmasks different sexualities and shines a light on
them. This film is about acceptance, which is why I think it had a lot to do with "the perks of being a
wallflower. In the end of the movie all of the characters find out who they really are I feel like that is
something that happens in both stories. In "the Perks of Being a Wallflower" they find themselves
then part their separate ways. Sam and Patrick go to college leaving Charlie behind. In "the rocky
horror picture show" Frank and his friends help Brad and Janet find themselves then they return to
Transylvania. This film is all about acceptance and finding who you really are. That is the mission

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the most popular movies of all times. It's reach spreads
across generations and countries. At first glance Rocky Horror, as it is commonly referred to, can
seem like a crude movie that's sole purpose is to shock the audience with it's foul language and
sexual content. This is not the case; Rocky Horror brings attention to the gender roles placed on
women and men in society. This message is still important today because more than ever women
and men feel limited in their own bodies.
The opening credits identify to us who fits into what categories. Whilst listen to Richard O'Brien
singing the infamous opening song the cast list appears on the screen with the actors name, the
character they play and a gender role they fit into. Dr. Frank–n–Furter is a scientist, Brad is a hero,
and Magenta is a domestic. Right off the bat we get a sense of how the characters are going to act in
the movie with these titles. The scientist should be smart, feeble and nerdy, the hero will be strong
and not afraid of anything and of course the domestic will be complacent and compliant. These roles
are challenged in the movie. Frank–n–Furter is in charge, or at least thinks he is, of everything going
on in the house. He is a strong male who is anything but feeble. Brad turns out to be the one who is
the most afraid and unaccepting of what is going on in the house. Whenever Janet participated in the
singing or with what the aliens were doing he would get

My Infatuation Of The Rocky Horror Picture Show
At just the age of eight, my mother took my younger sister along with me to a midnight showing of
the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and it was love at first screening. There was so much excitement
and enthusiasm bursting with energy in the audience that it was mesmerizing. That moment was re–
experienced repeatedly with the return to countless future showings. Moreover, when I attained the
age that I could attend without a chaperone, I would bring friends and introduce them to the
experience. Following in my mother's footsteps, I also acquainted my daughter with the film when I
felt it was time, as did my sister with her children. Consequently, the tradition will continue for
generations to come within our family. Rocky Horror Picture Show is not compatible with all
viewers, some will either love it or hate it. With no doubts, I can honestly declare my infatuation
with Rocky Horror Picture Show as my all–time favorite film based on the excitement and
experience it creates for the audience. To start with, Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic
film. This production is an unbelievable parody blend of science fiction, horror movie, comedy, and
musical all rolled into one storyline. To sum up, the storyline, a newly engaged couple break down
and find themselves thrown into an annual alien transvestite celebration taking place in a castle, in
which a mad scientist unveils his special creation to his acquaintances just before things go terribly
wrong. Of course, the costumes are

The musical opened on June 16, 1973, at The Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in London,
England. The musical which was originally a "just for kicks show" was intended to run only a
couple of weeks, but took broadway by storm and became a huge success. The musical then moved
from the 60seat
Theatre Upstairs to a series of larger theatres such as the Classic
Cinema. "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" made the cinema it's home from Aug. 14, 1973 to
Oct. 20, 1973, then moving to King's Road from Nov. 3, 1973 to March 31, 1979, and finally the
Comedy Theatre in the West End from April 6, 1979 until September 13, 1980 marking the end of
the shows initial run in the UK. The show played in London for a total of 2,960 performances.
About ten months into the run, Lou Adler saw the musical and brought it to the United States with
the show's first preview on March 19, 1974. "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" then spread all
throughout the world with the Australian premiere also in 1974 and Japan in 1975. The musical was
made into a feature film 1975 shot at Oakley Court in Windsor, England. In an attempt as a
promotion for the movie, the musical was brought back to the broadway stage on
March 10, 1975, but failed to capture audiences, with a total of only 3 previews and

The Effects Of Transportation In The Rocky Horror Picture...
Have you ever been so engrossed in a movie that you felt like you were one of the characters? Star
Wars fans are a prime example of this phenomenon. Many fans flock to the theater wearing
costumes. Another example that may help identify transportation is the audience participation in the
movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Fans would not only dress as one of the characters, but
they would interact with props while the moving was being played. Being so engaged in a movie
makes one feel as if they have been transported into the place they are watching. According to the
article, Transportation Across Media: Repeated Exposure to Print and Film, "Transportation has
three main components: cognitive engagement, emotional engagement, and mental imagery. The
self–report transportation scale includes items tapping each of these dimensions, but prior research
with the scale suggests that all three aspects combine to produce transportation effects (Green &
Brock, 2000)." (Media Psychology, 2008) The idea of one being able to feel as if they are
transported into another world may seem absurd to some, but the reality is we all enjoy movies
because it somehow sends our minds to another world for a short time. It helps us temporarily forget
our daily stressors. "Need for cognition is the tendency to enjoy and engage in effortful cognitive
activity (Cacioppo & Petty, 1982)." (Media Psychology, 2008) The effect of transportation is
apparent in watching someone play video games. The

The Film Rocky Horror Picture Show The Character Dr. Frank...
In the film Rocky Horror Picture Show the character Dr. Frank–N–Furter sings the words, "So I'll
remove the cause, but not the symptom" (O'Brien). In this cult classic musical written by Richard
O'Brien follows a newly engaged couple through a sexual journey as they lose their innocence and
start to conform to traditional gender stereotypes. Today the youth of America are being bombarded
with conflicting ideas about gender, race and sex. These conflicting ideas can lead to skewed visions
on what defines masculinity and furthermore what defines femininity. Furthermore, sexual assault
on college campuses by men and particularly student athletes have come to the forefront of many
news headlines in recent years and while some believe that sexual assault stems from "locker room
culture", rather it stems from a skewed sense of masculinity that has been created over the years of
consuming media. Many try to educate these same men on what defines consent and how to
properly act in sexual situations, but this is merely trying put a temporary solution on a much larger
issue. If people wanted the systemic issue of sexual assault to be reduced, then the root cause must
be removed. A twisted view of masculinity is the root cause of many sexual assault because a
twisted view of masculinity causes unhealthy understanding of sexuality and consent.
Three main terms will be used in this essay and require a definition as to avoid confusion.
Masculinity is defined by Merriam–Webster as,

Comparing The Rocky Horror Picture Show And Naked Lunch
Chinmay Kalluraya PID: A13623530 In this essay, I aim to compare two films: The Rocky Horror
Picture Show and Naked Lunch. I will begin by describing the gist of both stories and shed some
light about their past productions, followed by illustrating The Rocky Horror Picture Show's appeal
on theater, and using examples in the story, its setting and characters, put forth reasons why it would
be better as a theater production as compared to its film version. Next, I will elaborate key attributes
that make Naked Lunch a success on screen as compared to a theater production.
The two films are distinct in every way, with The Rocky Horror Picture Show originally being a
1973 stage production written by Richard O'Brien that was adapted ... Show more content on

Regular patrons have the lines committed to memory, and yell back lines during extended pauses
taken by the actors. For example, when Dr. Frank 'N' Furter deliberately extends the word
"anticipation" during the song 'Sweet Transvestite', the audiences are prepared to yell "Say it!". The
audience also has opportunities to use their props, for instance during the wedding scene in the very
beginning, the audience sprinkles rice on the newlywed couple. After the wedding scene, on the
ringing of the bells, the audience blow bubbles while Brad and Janet have a romantic conversation.
Other examples include covering their heads with newspapers and spraying water using squirt guns
on Brad and Janet during the re–enacting of the stormy night, wearing gloves as Dr. Frank wears his
while revealing the story of Rocky's creation and wearing party hats during the guest dinner. The
yelling of particular lines and use of props varies from production to production, but these are
classic examples of breaking the fourth wall, i.e. the imaginary wall between audiences and stage
actors. People looking for a cathartic release enjoy shouting lines as the play unfolds. The on–screen
version does not facilitate such interaction between the performers and the viewers.
Another strong reason for a predisposition towards the stage production is the character of The
Criminologist, who

Perks Of Being A Wallflower Reflection
The summer before 7th grade I was introduced to the movie, Perks Of Being A Wallflower, by
Stephen Chbosky. I label this movie the most influential piece of art that I have ever been exposed
to as it allowed me to familiarize myself with characters who held traits I'd recognized in myself
long before but hadn't gotten the opportunity to learn. The movie followed an incoming high school
freshman, Charlie, and a group of outcast seniors he befriended– Sam, Patrick, Mary Elizabeth, and
Alice– all of whom, were characters who helped shape me into the person I am today.

Instead of only watching the movie because I wanted a sense comfort I had struggled in finding
before, I watched it with a more mature mindframe. One of the key components in Perks Of Being A
Wallflower is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. In the movie the characters put on a live performance
of Rocky Horror weekly. The show plays a big part in some of the characters lives and it started to
play a huge role in mine once I payed more attention to it. The more I watched and listened to the
story the more I was intrigued. Rocky Horror brought on a lot of firsts for me. It was the first
musical I had watched all the way through and enjoyed everything I saw. This lead me to find some
of my favorite shows and movies today, like RENT and Glee. Rocky Horror also introduced me to
the first transgender character I'd ever seen. Granted, Dr. Frank–N–Furter probably wasn't the best
role model for a fourteen year old, but I was mesmerized by the sheer existence of a happy
community existing of people who were outcasts and shunned away from society. Rocky Horror
also showed in depth how people can change when exposed to new things. Rocky Horror Picture
Show starts with a conservative couple, Brad and Janet, who are terrified to be anywhere around a
house full of transgender people and by the end of it they come out non–judgemental and tolerant.

Essay on The Dream
The Dream
In the early twentieth century, film maker and producer Adolph Zukor met Jesse Lasky, owner of
Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company. The two men admired each others previous work and, in
1916, decided to combine forces. They created Paramount pictures and had one of the most familiar
slogans in the film industry, "If it's a Paramount Picture it's the Best Show in Town". Proving their
slogan true they started turning out more than two pictures per week. During it's peak in the silent
film making era, Paramount was making 5 million dollars a year more than other production
companies such as Warner, Fox, and Universal.(Paramount)

Entertainment is not all Paramount has provided for the telecommunications and film industry.
Since the company began, the decisions it has made have influenced others in the industry. Even
though they may not have always been the most profitable movie making company, they have
always been interested in broadening their horizons, and the sky was the limit. Not long after
Paramount was created "Zukor decided to maintain his company's supremacy in the industry. He
began a theater–buying campaign that amassed single houses and entire circuits... By 1930, the
firm's movie–house division had grown to include almost 2,000 units and was named Publix

providing hundreds of award winning quality movies to view. Paramount has also contributed to the
competitive aspect of the movie industry, forcing actors and directors to do their best work. Stated

I Will Show A Picture For Everyone
First I will show a picture for everyone. Does everyone know this five people?
This five people are Chinese teachers. They came to the UK using Chinese traditional ways to teach
UK students. And take exam to compare with British education way which education methods are
better. About the result when I finish the Presentation I will tell everybody. In this Presentation I will
focus on 3 parts, first parts is basic system second parts is teaching methodology third parts is
subject
Let's go to the first parts, in the first part I will give three sections class size, timetable, and after
class. As you can see the first picture is Chinese class, In China one class often have 50 students
however in UK class students is less than the China. There are often have 30 students in each class.
It means that in China teacher cannot pay attention to the each student like student's feedback but in
UK teacher can do it.
Now I'd like to show you timetable for school day. You can clearly find that the first table is longer
than the second table because in China students have 8 classes in everyday but in UK they only have
6classes. Chinese teacher assume that when student at school long time, it can make student
improve their learning efficiency. However they neglect the student can feel so tired because they
often stay at school more than 9hours everyday. Direct regulation British students are relaxed. After

A Picture Of Failure At Show Santiago 's Persistence,...
The author starts the book with a picture of failure to show Santiago's persistence, passion, and
courage in the face of defeat.
Symbolism is when something abstract is represented with something concrete. Santiago is
described as, "thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck", "brown blotches of
benevolent skin cancer", "his hands had deep–creased scars from handling heavy fish", and
"everything about him was old except for his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and
where cheerful and undefeated." Santiago's hand scars are his battle wounds and shows that his
nature is to overcome obstacles in his path. His wrinkles and cancer spots make him look like a
simple old man not concerned with looks showing us his humility. Also his eyes that look
undefeated are symbolic of his hope and perseverance.
Santiago's home is constructed of tough bud shield from the royal palm. It has basic furniture, a bed,
a chair, and a table. The house has dirt floors and on the floor is a place to cook with charcoal.
Santiago, like his home, is simple, modest, and strong. Even though he lives somewhat on the
goodwill of other people, he manages to survive and endure. Santiago isn't caught up about when he
attained humility but recognizes that he does have this trait and is proud of it without being arrogant.
Santiago shows that humility and pride aren 't mutually different and can be one in the same.
Hemingway does admire Santiago through the book. He is constantly

The Crime Picture Differs From The Boy Crime, Picture, And...
Youth who are accused of crimes are often older males. In fact, of all youth court cases reported in
2008–09, 72 percent involved males, while 21 percent involved females (Kong and AuCoin, 2008).
The gender of the offender was not reported in seven percent of the cases. This paper will explain
how the "girl" crime picture differs from the "boy crime" picture, and show the extent the
differences that appear to be increasing/decreasing over time. While it is clear that females are
accused of crimes less frequently than boys, the ratio shift depending on the type of crime.
"Girl" Crime Picture Female youth account for just one out of every five people who are accused by
the police in the Criminal Code offenses in Canada (Kong, 2008). This has been a reality for some
time now. This low crime rate among females resulted in little being known about female offenders
and their motives. The low rate also means women and girls who commit crimes face a Canadian
criminal justice system that is primarily designed to deal with male offenders (Kong, 2008). "It is
precisely the relatively small number of women and girls who commit crimes that creates a need to
regularly monitor trends in offending patterns among females, trends that become masked by the
larger male population if not examined separately" (Kong, 2008). Various crime prevention
strategies can use the trends in female and male crime patterns. The information can be used to

Gender Stereotypes In The Rocky Horror Picture Show
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show is not so much a movie as more of a long–running social
phenomenon" (Ebert). The interpretation of the film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was
produced in 1975, opens the curtains to the cross on top of a church after being introduced to the
characters by the huge, bright red lips. Promptly after the introduction the camera moves in a
sensational gesture towards a just married couple that is walking to the front of the church with their
wedding guests, carrying the traditional wedding ceremony of throwing the newly brides bouquet.
The visual that is taken in this scene seems to be vital to the aspect behind the film, as it is showing
how dull a wedding that carries the same tradition can be, especially since it is being related to the
following scene at the castle of Dr. Frank–n–Furter. With the proximity of the heterosexual
traditions and the events at the mansion, it is obvious this film is meant to draw into question the
common gender stereotypes along with sexuality. The Rocky Horror Picture Show validates that
gender roles and stereotypes are socially constructed and that there should not be any social stigma
attached to personalities that cannot easily be identified as a male or female by using irony, the use
of social practice, and more specifically through Dr. Fran–n–Furter's character.
Even with an unbiased reading of the production, it is obvious that The Rocky Horror Picture Show
does in fact speak on the social issue of

feeling but as you look deeper the real (another) meaning presents itself. The movie Mask was
released in 1985 and is based on a true story. It is about a boy (Rocky) with a bone disorder called
craniodiaphyseal dysplasia. In the movie Rocky wants to go to high school however, the principal

was ecstatic, yet also terribly embarrassed by the fact that I was chosen to be called forward by my
favorite character, Magenta who was being played by a girl named Janet that night. Damnit Janet.
After the toast, or what was left of the thrown half burnt toast was finished we did our oath and were
permitted to go return to our seats and the show began. In the Rocky Horror community, everyone is
celebrated for who they are. Individuality and uniqueness is something special and called upon
among the groupies of Transylvania and Dr. Frank–N–Furter and it will always be that way. No
male is ever ridiculed or looked at for dressing like a woman or drag–queen nor is any woman ever
looked down upon for dressing like a man or drag king. In fact, some of the cast actually play
characters of the opposite sex just because they love the role or who and what the character portrays.
At NO time throughout the entire show will anyone tell you that you are wrong or weird or
different. People are who they really want to be at Rocky Horror and no one will ever stop them for
being that way. It is living

How Does Writing Change Over Time
Writing has changed a lot over the years. The hot topics fade and new ones replace them. From early
America to 1870 there was not many changes in the topics because there was not as many people as
there are now. There was only three considerable changes to writing styles and topics. The writing
styles and topics over the years have changed from myths, to God, and finally to individualism.
Writing started off as myths. There are four functions of a myth. The myth must include all of
creation, day to day function of the world, support customs/rituals, and how to deal with trials and
tribulations. An example of a myth is The World On The Turtle's Back. That myth was written by
the Iroquois and was about how the world was created. Their myths were generally communicated
orally. The myth talked about a heaven where the gods lived. One became curious and fell into the
underworld. The woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was in play when the Puritans came over and settled in America. They tried to be godly and
always do the correct thing. An example of this type of writing is The Crucible. The Crucible is a
play written about a true event. These godly people did not like witches. They thought that witches
were possessed by the devil so they killed them. They thought they were doing the right thing, but
some people took advantage of it. Those girls were ungodly, but everyone thought they were godly.
The Puritans thought that children were innocent (they never lied). That is not the case and these
ungodly children took advantage and twisted these people's minds. Some people were godly and did
the right thing but most people were not, even though that is what they thought they were doing.
Those people thought that they were ridding Salem of the devil and allowing God back in but what
they were really doing was pushing God out and opening the door for the devil. When the Puritans
arrived in America, they changed the style and topic of writing to

Pirates Of The Caribbe On Stranger Tides
Hollywood today spends more money on movies than ever before, with an average budget of $140
million per movie. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; the most expensive movie ever
made; cost approximately $378.5 million and that was five years ago. This isn't surprising since
history is witness to a rising trend in money spent on movies, even after adjusting for inflation,
however, their impact on the industry isn't as large as their budgets. Over the years, lower cost
productions like B–Movies have played a major role in carrying the industry forward by keeping it
stable, moving and profitable in times of trouble. B–Movies came to be the need of the hour after
The Great Depression and World War II. Money was tight everywhere and Hollywood could not
continue making extravagant movies therefore they turned to low budget commercial films. These
movies not only have an economical significance in Hollywood, they have made more than one
contribution to the industry. These low risk movies provided directors, writers and producers with a
wide scope for experimentation and led to the creation of many a genres and sub–genres. The
origins of B–Movies are humble but over the years that they grew in Hollywood, they became more
significant and successful, yet their progress from "Rags to Riches" remains more a behind–the–
scenes heroic act than a superhero effort. B–Movies originally came into being to serve the purpose
of being the second class feature in the double–feature

Naked Lunch Literary Analysis
Naked Lunch Analysis The book Naked Lunch could be measured as at times, poetic, but the
belligerent content, troubling images, duplication of sentences, and its nonexistence story plot
makes it something unquestionably dreadful to read. The novel is organized as a series of poorly
linked portions. Throughout the book, readers can sometimes begin to feel uncomfortable with the
alarming content flipping from page to page. Although some readers may think Naked Lunch is
insightful and humorous, taking each unsettling paragraph as a "grain of salt," I will argue that the
novel has misleading content and seems to be very bias with the upsetting metaphors throughout the
book. Naked Lunch is repulsive and sometimes tedious, often in the same ... Show more content on

Often in early interviews he could be found side–stepping more complicated issues such as
homosexuality and its reality below the surface of society in the early 1960's. Yet, this was never an
entry of guilt or criminality, especially in regards to drugs, but a cautious approach to his new found
interest from the media (Skallagrimson). This ambiguous feeling towards what many consider
"wrong" has both hurt and helped the book. Naked Lunch seems to be fantasy, for the most part. The
novel is a description of many real events that have been stretched and twisted even farther along
than thought possible, making them part of a world beyond real, but somehow still mocking ours.

People's Bank Theatre Analysis
Service can take on a variety of definitions. Too often, a societal view of service is somehow linked
with laborious work at an inconvenient time of the day or somewhat of a burden; that is the stigma
associated with service from my home community at least. Throughout my semester volunteering at
the People's Bank Theatre, I have really come to enjoy the service I have partaken in. With my own
personal promotion of culture, especially coming to a region of the country which would not
typically be predisposed to the arts at such high caliber performance, I definitely felt a real sort of
connection to the theatre which in turn made my volunteering experience meaningful. The People's
Bank Theatre, rebuilt after a massive fire in 1917, was opened as the new Hippodrome Theatre in
1919 and claimed its right as a major center of entertainment within the mid–west region of the

Cultural Values In Frankenstein And Edward Scissorhands
Classic texts are valued as their representation of cultural and social concerns are constructed in a
way that continues to resonate with audiences despite their personal context. Cultural values are
regarded by larger society as they reflect the social and political attitudes of the time. "Frankenstein"
by Mary Shelley, is a gothic science fiction novel written in 1818, which explores the dark side of
the human psyche, a highly valued cultural value, formed from the romanticism era. Shelley
explores the role of man as creator as she forewarns of the impact of scientific advancement. These
issues are re–examined in the twenty– first century film, "Edward Scissorhands". 'Edward
Scissorhands' is an appropriation of Shelley's 'Frankenstein', directed by Tim Burton in the 1990.
'Edward Scissorhands' also explores the dark side of human psyche. Burton examines on what
makes us human, as well as the perspective of living in society, being regarded as a 'monster'. "The
Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a 1975 gender bender, sci–fi, comedy, horror musical film, directed
by Richard O'Brien. O'Brien pursue in encouraging to expand our society's social standards, a
cultural value from the sexual revolution throughout the eras of the 1960's to 1980's. Shelley's
"Frankenstein" has been adapted by Burton's "Edward Scissorhands" as well as O'Brien's "The

Postmodernism of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) The Rocky Horror Picture Show ,
directed by Jim Chapman, is a campy comedy musical set in a horror and science fiction themed
castle in which sexuality and hilarity run rampant. The film, closely based on a stage production, hit
theaters in 1975 and continued to rule the midnight film scene, becoming a cult–classic. By using
homage and allusion to science fiction and horror B–films, lambasting sexual identity and gender
normality, and employing a self–referential universe, The Rocky Horror Picture Show stands as a
strong representation of 1970 's postmodernism in film. The Rocky Horror Picture Show opens with
the, now iconic, disembodied set of red lips singing "Science Fiction/Double Feature". The song is a
nostalgia–trip through time as it references everything thing from Flash Gordon 's underwear to
reminding us who stars in Forbidden Planet. The setting of the film its self is a spooky manor and
set piece that is almost identical to the sets from Hammer Film Productions such as The Curse of
Frankenstein (Terence Fisher, 1957) and the remake of The Old Dark House (William Castle, 1963).

The blogger writes, "I learned that I was a predator to many people just because of my sexuality,"

immediately reminded of Kimberly Springer's Queering Black Female Heterosexuality, in which she

action that does not reinforce the stereotypes." (211) Keeping this in mind, I urge you to watch this

A lot have people have been nervous about their freshman year but eventually we all make friends

People should read this book because it teaches the importance of friends and family and it teaches
that everybody has personal issues to go through. People should read this book because it teaches
the importance of friends.
At the start of the novel charlie is just about to start his freshman year of highschool without any

The Film Rocky Horror Picture Show By Richard O ' Brien Essay
In the film Rocky Horror Picture Show, the character Dr. Frank–N–Furter sings the words, "So I'll
remove the cause, but not the symptom" (O'Brien) . This cult classic musical written by Richard
O'Brien follows a newly engaged couple through a sexual journey as they lose their innocence and
start to conform to traditional gender stereotypes. Today youth of America are being bombarded
with conflicting ideas about gender, race and sex. These conflicting ideas can lead to skewed visions
on what defines masculinity and what defines femininity. Furthermore, sexual assault on college
campuses by men and particularly student athletes have come to the forefront of many news
headlines in recent years and while some believe that sexual assault stems from "locker room
culture", it stems from a skewed sense of masculinity that has been created over years of consuming
media. Many try to educate these same men on what defines consent and how to properly act in
sexual situations, but this is merely trying put a temporary solution on a much larger issue. If people
wanted the systemic issue of sexual assault to be reduced, then the root cause must be removed. A
twisted systemic view of masculinity is the root cause of many sexual assaults because a twisted
view of masculinity causes unhealthy understanding of sexuality and consent as seen in college.
Stereotypical masculine qualities will include aggressive, non–emotional and independent whereas

The protagonist whose name is Charlie is a freshman. He is by no means popular, but not the

first dates, mixtapes, family dramas, friends, sex, drugs, and the play The Rocky Horror Picture

Rocky Horror Show Analysis
The Rocky Horror Show began as more of a hobby than anything else; it was just something that
creator Richard O'Brien concocted as a side project while he was going through a transitional period
between acting jobs O'Brien was born in England in 1942, but was raised primarily in New Zealand,
where he dropped out of school at the age of fifteen and developed an affinity for the B–horror films
and the science fiction features of the time, which was his first glimpse into the world of theatre, and
he was drawn in immediately. O'Brien struggled for a long time trying to find work, working as a
stuntman on films such as Carry On, Cowboy and Casino Royale. His first breakthrough, however,
came when he was given a small part in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Though his
performance was miserable, his true highlight was when he met with the director of Superstar, Jim
Sharman. He presented to Sharman his early draft of Rocky Horror, a rock–inspired musical theatre
production titled They Came from Denton High. Sharman agreed to ... Show more content on

After the film's release, it ascended to a whole new level of success, and thanks to its continued

Victor Frankenstein Film Analysis
Victor Frankenstein 2015
Victor Frankenstein 2015 is a science fiction, thriller and horror film that is based on the 1818 novel
by Mary Shelley. The film was directed by Paul Mcguian and starred Daniel Radcliffe as Igor and
James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein (McGuigan). Unlike other film adaptations based on the
same novel, the film is narrated from Igor's perspective. Igor is a young assistant who is working
closely with his over ambitious friend Victor. Victor is also a young medical student who will stop at
nothing to achieve his scientific goals.
The director lets the film rolls from Igor's perspective in order to allow the audience to understand
and appreciate the emergence of Frankenstein as scientists that the audience knows to ... Show more

He proves this when conversing with Igor in the lab when the latter says,"Victor, you promised me
that this was all about life", Victor remarks in awe that it was about so much more than life
(Frankenstein).
The film was written by Max Landis and is significantly different from most versions of the same
story (Coming to Life). It attempts to take a third–person perspective in order to reflect on the
temperament of the main character, Victor Frankenstein. Using third person narration, Max manages
to vilify Victor's character by shining a light on his recklessness. This is particularly important given
that the Mary's novel allowed the audience to empathize with Victor due to the loss of his family
members and fiancé.
In this adaptation, the writer ensures that Victor is unhinged and carefree but a loyal friend to Igor
and other people in his life. In addition to being brash, Victor is humorous in most of the scenes.
This is implied when Igor pleads with him to rethink the experiments since the police were after the
duo. While his friend Igor wanted to make a world a better place and hopefully be remembered for
inventing new ways of healing the sick, Victor seeks to redefine the meaning of life and death. From
the writing, it is clear that Victor did not really intend to get anybody hurt. His character is simply
deranged and he ends up risking the lives of the people around him. The writer

Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again
The Rocky Horror Picture Show was one of my favorite movies growing up. Those kids in the
audience singing along, chanting and throwing things, yeah, I was one of them. Been there, done
that too many times to count. So, I was excited to watch this movie for my critique. But that
excitement quickly disappeared when the movie started.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again tips its hat to those roots with an
usherette (Ivy Levan) welcoming costumed fans into a midnight screening of the new movie. The
show occasionally cuts back to the audience during the production to see those on–screen audience
members reacting to what they're seeing. Instead of replicating the wild joy of the actual crowds
who still flock to midnight showings to shout at the screen, myself included, it only serves to
heighten the artifice of the whole ordeal. The charm that went along with the original was wiped out
and replaced with Fox's Glee–ified style.
We're introduced to Brad and Janet played by Ryan McCartan and Victoria Justice. While they don't
embody that joyful square–ness of the original cast, they still have an innocence to them. Laverne

Rocky Horror Picture Show

  • 1. Rocky Horror Picture Show I am not sure if it was my time in the Army or that I was now a senior, but I was starting my most relaxed school year. I still did not have a car, so I was dependent people who were willing to pick me up, like my friends Stan and Mike. They introduced me to the midnight movies and its most famous movie, the "Rocky Horror Picture Show." On many Friday and Saturday nights, we were in the isle seats at the Movies at the Machesney Theater Mall. We were self–appointed directors for participatory part of the movie, with all the props. For an introvert, these two were extroverts at the extreme and in those moments, I was alive. Maybe it was the fact that the movie was about strange misfits who did not care about the world, lived in an absurd fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I participated in the publications class, where half of the class work was newspaper production. Harlem had one of the most advanced school papers in the area. We performed every aspect of newspaper creation: writing, editing, layout, printing and distribution. It was printed at the school by students who use two offset printing presses. By the time I graduated high school, I had learned the craft of newsprint from top to bottom. For many years, I used these skills in one capacity or another. In my last year in high school, I enjoyed myself. The closer the end was, the freer I felt. I developed a belief that when something went well, something else would be lost or taken. On a day, I was happy having been commended for my work as an editor and things were going well for me in the theater, I was reminded what girls really thought of me. As a teenage boy, I had no defense against the digs from girls. They were part of the ultimate desire that made me so open for this type of abuse. Oddly, I understood being dejected from a girl I tried to speak with and to be ignored by others. Even when I could defend myself against the harsh words of a boy, the same words spoken by a girl became ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Sex, Adultery, and Rocky in Rocky Horror Picture Show Even with its age Rocky Horror Picture Show still portrays fornication, infidelity, and fitting in. People are usually drawn in by a family connection and their thirst for curiosity conveyed up by the name of the show alone. Majority of people who attend the shows find themselves in a place where they feel that they belong. People who normally get called "freaks" go see Rocky because it is a place where they are no longer considered such heinous things. The people who attend the show have a specific personality about them that is admired at every show. When you attend RHPS you come across other people whom similar to you, different. This helps to build companionships and ties between the one another. It also constructs a family atmosphere in the theater that stays with you forever. During every show there is random number of "virgins", or first timers, that are to be sacrificed. These sacrifices are all in fun and are seen as a way of passage into the Rocky community. Usually first timers sacrifice is long, painless, and completely hilarious. In fact it would not be half as fun if you did not bring along some people to enjoy the show with you. Soon as the show started three people where chosen to be sacrificed. Out of the three of them only one was a male and they made him act as if he were a chair. The two that were left were put inside a poorly painted black box at one end of the stage while the cast made a toast to the start of the show. The purpose of being "sacrificed ... • 3. Rocky Horror Picture Show Imagery The "Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a musical that takes place in the early 70's, where Brad Majors and Janet Weiss are on their way to visit an old professor Dr. Everett V. Scott. On their way, there they experience some mechanical issues. This causes the two of them to wonder back to a castle they saw in order to get some assistance. Little did they know they would be getting all the help they needed. They didn't know there was a celebration happening at the Frank–N–Furter place. When they arrived, they were surprised with what was going on for it was abnormal to them. In this analytical Essay I, will be explaining the hidden imagery behind things in the motion picture. Throughout this film the use imagery to show how gender roles come into play. In the beginning of the movie they are at the end of a wedding. Everyone is outside and watching the bride and groom as they are about to leave. The bride tosses her bouquet and Janet is competitive and gets the bouquet. There is more going on here though, Janet is being competitive and women in that time era were very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this motion picture, they show the audience how gender roles were portrayed for that time era. This film compares sex to innocence. This film unmasks different sexualities and shines a light on them. This film is about acceptance, which is why I think it had a lot to do with "the perks of being a wallflower. In the end of the movie all of the characters find out who they really are I feel like that is something that happens in both stories. In "the Perks of Being a Wallflower" they find themselves then part their separate ways. Sam and Patrick go to college leaving Charlie behind. In "the rocky horror picture show" Frank and his friends help Brad and Janet find themselves then they return to Transylvania. This film is all about acceptance and finding who you really are. That is the mission and I feel it was truly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Rocky Horror Picture Show The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the most popular movies of all times. It's reach spreads across generations and countries. At first glance Rocky Horror, as it is commonly referred to, can seem like a crude movie that's sole purpose is to shock the audience with it's foul language and sexual content. This is not the case; Rocky Horror brings attention to the gender roles placed on women and men in society. This message is still important today because more than ever women and men feel limited in their own bodies. The opening credits identify to us who fits into what categories. Whilst listen to Richard O'Brien singing the infamous opening song the cast list appears on the screen with the actors name, the character they play and a gender role they fit into. Dr. Frank–n–Furter is a scientist, Brad is a hero, and Magenta is a domestic. Right off the bat we get a sense of how the characters are going to act in the movie with these titles. The scientist should be smart, feeble and nerdy, the hero will be strong and not afraid of anything and of course the domestic will be complacent and compliant. These roles are challenged in the movie. Frank–n–Furter is in charge, or at least thinks he is, of everything going on in the house. He is a strong male who is anything but feeble. Brad turns out to be the one who is the most afraid and unaccepting of what is going on in the house. Whenever Janet participated in the singing or with what the aliens were doing he would get ... • 5. My Infatuation Of The Rocky Horror Picture Show At just the age of eight, my mother took my younger sister along with me to a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and it was love at first screening. There was so much excitement and enthusiasm bursting with energy in the audience that it was mesmerizing. That moment was re– experienced repeatedly with the return to countless future showings. Moreover, when I attained the age that I could attend without a chaperone, I would bring friends and introduce them to the experience. Following in my mother's footsteps, I also acquainted my daughter with the film when I felt it was time, as did my sister with her children. Consequently, the tradition will continue for generations to come within our family. Rocky Horror Picture Show is not compatible with all viewers, some will either love it or hate it. With no doubts, I can honestly declare my infatuation with Rocky Horror Picture Show as my all–time favorite film based on the excitement and experience it creates for the audience. To start with, Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic film. This production is an unbelievable parody blend of science fiction, horror movie, comedy, and musical all rolled into one storyline. To sum up, the storyline, a newly engaged couple break down and find themselves thrown into an annual alien transvestite celebration taking place in a castle, in which a mad scientist unveils his special creation to his acquaintances just before things go terribly wrong. The musical which was originally a "just for kicks show" was intended to run only a couple of weeks, but took broadway by storm and became a huge success. The musical then moved from the 60seat Theatre Upstairs to a series of larger theatres such as the Classic Cinema. "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" made the cinema it's home from Aug. 14, 1973 to Oct. 20, 1973, then moving to King's Road from Nov. 3, 1973 to March 31, 1979, and finally the Comedy Theatre in the West End from April 6, 1979 until September 13, 1980 marking the end of the shows initial run in the UK. • 7. The Effects Of Transportation In The Rocky Horror Picture... Have you ever been so engrossed in a movie that you felt like you were one of the characters? Star Wars fans are a prime example of this phenomenon. Many fans flock to the theater wearing costumes. Another example that may help identify transportation is the audience participation in the movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Fans would not only dress as one of the characters, but they would interact with props while the moving was being played. Being so engaged in a movie makes one feel as if they have been transported into the place they are watching. According to the article, Transportation Across Media: Repeated Exposure to Print and Film, "Transportation has three main components: cognitive engagement, emotional engagement, and mental imagery. The self–report transportation scale includes items tapping each of these dimensions, but prior research with the scale suggests that all three aspects combine to produce transportation effects (Green & Brock, 2000)." (Media Psychology, 2008) The idea of one being able to feel as if they are transported into another world may seem absurd to some, but the reality is we all enjoy movies because it somehow sends our minds to another world for a short time. It helps us temporarily forget our daily stressors. "Need for cognition is the tendency to enjoy and engage in effortful cognitive activity (Cacioppo & Petty, 1982)." (Media Psychology, 2008) The effect of transportation is apparent in watching someone play video games. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Film Rocky Horror Picture Show The Character Dr. Frank... In the film Rocky Horror Picture Show the character Dr. Frank–N–Furter sings the words, "So I'll remove the cause, but not the symptom" (O'Brien). In this cult classic musical written by Richard O'Brien follows a newly engaged couple through a sexual journey as they lose their innocence and start to conform to traditional gender stereotypes. Today the youth of America are being bombarded with conflicting ideas about gender, race and sex. These conflicting ideas can lead to skewed visions on what defines masculinity and furthermore what defines femininity. Furthermore, sexual assault on college campuses by men and particularly student athletes have come to the forefront of many news headlines in recent years and while some believe that sexual assault stems from "locker room culture", rather it stems from a skewed sense of masculinity that has been created over the years of consuming media. Many try to educate these same men on what defines consent and how to properly act in sexual situations, but this is merely trying put a temporary solution on a much larger issue. If people wanted the systemic issue of sexual assault to be reduced, then the root cause must be removed. A twisted view of masculinity is the root cause of many sexual assault because a twisted view of masculinity causes unhealthy understanding of sexuality and consent. Three main terms will be used in this essay and require a definition as to avoid confusion. Masculinity is defined by Merriam–Webster as, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Movie Review : ' Pirates Of The Caribbean ' On Stranger... Akanksha Jain, 504563970 Professor Jonathan Kuntz TA, M. M. Reinhard Research Paper 2 B– MOVIES: THE SECONDARY PRODUCTION Hollywood today spends more money on movies than ever before, with an average budget of $140 million per movie. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'; the most expensive movie ever made; cost approximately $378.5 million and that was five years ago. This isn't surprising since history is witness to a rising trend in money spent on movies, however, even after adjusting for inflation, their impact on the industry isn't as large as their budgets. • 11. Comparing The Rocky Horror Picture Show And Naked Lunch Chinmay Kalluraya PID: A13623530 In this essay, I aim to compare two films: The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Naked Lunch. I will begin by describing the gist of both stories and shed some light about their past productions, followed by illustrating The Rocky Horror Picture Show's appeal on theater, and using examples in the story, its setting and characters, put forth reasons why it would be better as a theater production as compared to its film version. Next, I will elaborate key attributes that make Naked Lunch a success on screen as compared to a theater production. The two films are distinct in every way, with The Rocky Horror Picture Show originally being a 1973 stage production written by Richard O'Brien that was adapted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regular patrons have the lines committed to memory, and yell back lines during extended pauses taken by the actors. For example, when Dr. Frank 'N' Furter deliberately extends the word "anticipation" during the song 'Sweet Transvestite', the audiences are prepared to yell "Say it!". The audience also has opportunities to use their props, for instance during the wedding scene in the very beginning, the audience sprinkles rice on the newlywed couple. After the wedding scene, on the ringing of the bells, the audience blow bubbles while Brad and Janet have a romantic conversation. Other examples include covering their heads with newspapers and spraying water using squirt guns on Brad and Janet during the re–enacting of the stormy night, wearing gloves as Dr. Frank wears his while revealing the story of Rocky's creation and wearing party hats during the guest dinner. The yelling of particular lines and use of props varies from production to production, but these are classic examples of breaking the fourth wall, i.e. the imaginary wall between audiences and stage actors. People looking for a cathartic release enjoy shouting lines as the play unfolds. The on–screen version does not facilitate such interaction between the performers and the viewers. Another strong reason for a predisposition towards the stage production is the character of The Criminologist, who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Perks Of Being A Wallflower Reflection The summer before 7th grade I was introduced to the movie, Perks Of Being A Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky. I label this movie the most influential piece of art that I have ever been exposed to as it allowed me to familiarize myself with characters who held traits I'd recognized in myself long before but hadn't gotten the opportunity to learn. The movie followed an incoming high school freshman, Charlie, and a group of outcast seniors he befriended– Sam, Patrick, Mary Elizabeth, and Alice– all of whom, were characters who helped shape me into the person I am today. The show plays a big part in some of the characters lives and it started to play a huge role in mine once I payed more attention to it. The more I watched and listened to the story the more I was intrigued. Rocky Horror brought on a lot of firsts for me. It was the first musical I had watched all the way through and enjoyed everything I saw. This lead me to find some of my favorite shows and movies today, like RENT and Glee. Rocky Horror also introduced me to the first transgender character I'd ever seen. Granted, Dr. Frank–N–Furter probably wasn't the best role model for a fourteen year old, but I was mesmerized by the sheer existence of a happy community existing of people who were outcasts and shunned away from society. Rocky Horror also showed in depth how people can change when exposed to new things. • 16. A Picture Of Failure At Show Santiago 's Persistence,... The author starts the book with a picture of failure to show Santiago's persistence, passion, and courage in the face of defeat. Symbolism is when something abstract is represented with something concrete. Santiago is described as, "thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck", "brown blotches of benevolent skin cancer", "his hands had deep–creased scars from handling heavy fish", and "everything about him was old except for his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and where cheerful and undefeated." Santiago's hand scars are his battle wounds and shows that his nature is to overcome obstacles in his path. His wrinkles and cancer spots make him look like a simple old man not concerned with looks showing us his humility. Also his eyes that look undefeated are symbolic of his hope and perseverance. Santiago's home is constructed of tough bud shield from the royal palm. It has basic furniture, a bed, a chair, and a table. The house has dirt floors and on the floor is a place to cook with charcoal. Santiago, like his home, is simple, modest, and strong. Even though he lives somewhat on the goodwill of other people, he manages to survive and endure. • 17. The Crime Picture Differs From The Boy Crime, Picture, And... Youth who are accused of crimes are often older males. In fact, of all youth court cases reported in 2008–09, 72 percent involved males, while 21 percent involved females (Kong and AuCoin, 2008). The gender of the offender was not reported in seven percent of the cases. This paper will explain how the "girl" crime picture differs from the "boy crime" picture, and show the extent the differences that appear to be increasing/decreasing over time. While it is clear that females are accused of crimes less frequently than boys, the ratio shift depending on the type of crime. "Girl" Crime Picture Female youth account for just one out of every five people who are accused by the police in the Criminal Code offenses in Canada (Kong, 2008). This has been a reality for some time now. This low crime rate among females resulted in little being known about female offenders and their motives. The low rate also means women and girls who commit crimes face a Canadian criminal justice system that is primarily designed to deal with male offenders (Kong, 2008). "It is precisely the relatively small number of women and girls who commit crimes that creates a need to regularly monitor trends in offending patterns among females, trends that become masked by the larger male population if not examined separately" (Kong, 2008). Various crime prevention strategies can use the trends in female and male crime patterns. The information can be used to assess the responses by the justice and the social ... • 19. Gender Stereotypes In The Rocky Horror Picture Show "The Rocky Horror Picture Show is not so much a movie as more of a long–running social phenomenon" (Ebert). The interpretation of the film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was produced in 1975, opens the curtains to the cross on top of a church after being introduced to the characters by the huge, bright red lips. Promptly after the introduction the camera moves in a sensational gesture towards a just married couple that is walking to the front of the church with their wedding guests, carrying the traditional wedding ceremony of throwing the newly brides bouquet. The visual that is taken in this scene seems to be vital to the aspect behind the film, as it is showing how dull a wedding that carries the same tradition can be, especially since it is being related to the following scene at the castle of Dr. Frank–n–Furter. With the proximity of the heterosexual traditions and the events at the mansion, it is obvious this film is meant to draw into question the common gender stereotypes along with sexuality. The Rocky Horror Picture Show validates that gender roles and stereotypes are socially constructed and that there should not be any social stigma attached to personalities that cannot easily be identified as a male or female by using irony, the use of social practice, and more specifically through Dr. Fran–n–Furter's character. Cultural Values In Frankenstein And Edward Scissorhands Classic texts are valued as their representation of cultural and social concerns are constructed in a way that continues to resonate with audiences despite their personal context. Cultural values are regarded by larger society as they reflect the social and political attitudes of the time. Postmodernism Of The Rocky Horror Picture Show Sink 1 Daniel Sink Foster ENG 195 1 November 2016 Postmodernism of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) The Rocky Horror Picture Show , directed by Jim Chapman, is a campy comedy musical set in a horror and science fiction themed castle in which sexuality and hilarity run rampant. The film, closely based on a stage production, hit theaters in 1975 and continued to rule the midnight film scene, becoming a cult–classic. By using homage and allusion to science fiction and horror B–films, lambasting sexual identity and gender normality, and employing a self–referential universe, The Rocky Horror Picture Show stands as a strong representation of 1970 's postmodernism in film. The Rocky Horror Picture Show opens with the, now iconic, disembodied set of red lips singing "Science Fiction/Double Feature". The song is a nostalgia–trip through time as it references everything thing from Flash Gordon 's underwear to reminding us who stars in Forbidden Planet. The setting of the film its self is a spooky manor and set piece that is almost identical to the sets from Hammer Film Productions such as The Curse of Frankenstein (Terence Fisher, 1957) and the remake of The Old Dark House (William Castle, 1963). (211) Keeping this in mind, I urge you to watch this clip from the original film at the end of which the character of Frank–N–Furter is shown in a murderous rage fueled by sexual jealousy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb1HDnYPPoo. Truly, between this scene and many others, the film portrays the iconic non–binary gendered character as not just sexually aggressive, but what Richards fairly accurately describes as A rapist from outer space living in a mansion full of hypersexual minions whom he disposes of when they get a little ... • 33. The Film Rocky Horror Picture Show By Richard O ' Brien Essay In the film Rocky Horror Picture Show, the character Dr. Frank–N–Furter sings the words, "So I'll remove the cause, but not the symptom" (O'Brien) . This cult classic musical written by Richard O'Brien follows a newly engaged couple through a sexual journey as they lose their innocence and start to conform to traditional gender stereotypes. Today youth of America are being bombarded with conflicting ideas about gender, race and sex. These conflicting ideas can lead to skewed visions on what defines masculinity and what defines femininity. Furthermore, sexual assault on college campuses by men and particularly student athletes have come to the forefront of many news headlines in recent years and while some believe that sexual assault stems from "locker room culture", it stems from a skewed sense of masculinity that has been created over years of consuming media. Many try to educate these same men on what defines consent and how to properly act in sexual situations, but this is merely trying put a temporary solution on a much larger issue. If people wanted the systemic issue of sexual assault to be reduced, then the root cause must be removed. A twisted systemic view of masculinity is the root cause of many sexual assaults because a twisted view of masculinity causes unhealthy understanding of sexuality and consent as seen in college. Stereotypical masculine qualities will include aggressive, non–emotional and independent whereas stereotypical feminine qualities will include ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is timid, thoughtful, intelligent yet his social awkwardness blocks it all. He is a wallflower, as seen in the movie, found between attempting to carry on with his life but running away from it. Charlie endeavors to explore his way through unfamiliar domain: the world of first dates, mixtapes, family dramas, friends, sex, drugs, and the play The Rocky Horror Picture Show. • 36. Rocky Horror Show Analysis The Rocky Horror Show began as more of a hobby than anything else; it was just something that creator Richard O'Brien concocted as a side project while he was going through a transitional period between acting jobs O'Brien was born in England in 1942, but was raised primarily in New Zealand, where he dropped out of school at the age of fifteen and developed an affinity for the B–horror films and the science fiction features of the time, which was his first glimpse into the world of theatre, and he was drawn in immediately. O'Brien struggled for a long time trying to find work, working as a stuntman on films such as Carry On, Cowboy and Casino Royale. His first breakthrough, however, came when he was given a small part in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Though his performance was miserable, his true highlight was when he met with the director of Superstar, Jim Sharman. He presented to Sharman his early draft of Rocky Horror, a rock–inspired musical theatre production titled They Came from Denton High. Sharman agreed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the film's release, it ascended to a whole new level of success, and thanks to its continued stage productions and midnight viewings of the movies in theaters across the United States, it developed a large cult fan base. The triumph of Rocky Horror even persists into the following decades, namely when on October 18th, 1990, the City of Los Angeles, California announced that October 18th would be henceforth dubbed, "Rocky Horror Picture Show Day." • 37. Victor Frankenstein Film Analysis Victor Frankenstein 2015 Victor Frankenstein 2015 is a science fiction, thriller and horror film that is based on the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley. The film was directed by Paul Mcguian and starred Daniel Radcliffe as Igor and James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein (McGuigan). Unlike other film adaptations based on the same novel, the film is narrated from Igor's perspective. Igor is a young assistant who is working closely with his over ambitious friend Victor. Victor is also a young medical student who will stop at nothing to achieve his scientific goals. The director lets the film rolls from Igor's perspective in order to allow the audience to understand and appreciate the emergence of Frankenstein as scientists that the audience knows to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He proves this when conversing with Igor in the lab when the latter says,"Victor, you promised me that this was all about life", Victor remarks in awe that it was about so much more than life (Frankenstein). The film was written by Max Landis and is significantly different from most versions of the same story (Coming to Life). It attempts to take a third–person perspective in order to reflect on the temperament of the main character, Victor Frankenstein. Using third person narration, Max manages to vilify Victor's character by shining a light on his recklessness. This is particularly important given that the Mary's novel allowed the audience to empathize with Victor due to the loss of his family members and fiancé. In this adaptation, the writer ensures that Victor is unhinged and carefree but a loyal friend to Igor and other people in his life. In addition to being brash, Victor is humorous in most of the scenes. This is implied when Igor pleads with him to rethink the experiments since the police were after the duo. While his friend Igor wanted to make a world a better place and hopefully be remembered for inventing new ways of healing the sick, Victor seeks to redefine the meaning of life and death. From the writing, it is clear that Victor did not really intend to get anybody hurt. His character is simply deranged and he ends up risking the lives of the people around him. The writer ... • 38. Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again The Rocky Horror Picture Show was one of my favorite movies growing up. Those kids in the audience singing along, chanting and throwing things, yeah, I was one of them. Been there, done that too many times to count. So, I was excited to watch this movie for my critique. But that excitement quickly disappeared when the movie started. The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again tips its hat to those roots with an usherette (Ivy Levan) welcoming costumed fans into a midnight screening of the new movie. The show occasionally cuts back to the audience during the production to see those on–screen audience members reacting to what they're seeing. Instead of replicating the wild joy of the actual crowds who still flock to midnight showings to shout at the screen, myself included, it only serves to heighten the artifice of the whole ordeal. The charm that went along with the original was wiped out and replaced with Fox's Glee–ified style. We're introduced to Brad and Janet played by Ryan McCartan and Victoria Justice. While they don't embody that joyful square–ness of the original cast, they still have an innocence to them. Laverne Cox stars as Dr. Franke–n–furter and while I usually love her, the performance was sub par. You can tell Kenny Ortega was trying to liven it up and bring it into the 21st century, but once again it had the cheesy flash of a Disney production. Ortega was focused on capturing the weirdness of the original movie but either forgot, or unsuccessfully acknowledged the campiness that was such a huge part of the originals success. Despite the flashy and athletic performances of the high kicking cast, something was clearly lost in transition. The film was based in 1951 and although it was unusual for a film in the 1970's to be shot in black and white, they did so to really capture the image and the feeling of the 1950's. A sequel was followed after The Last Picture Show called Texasville which was released in 1990. The Last Picture Show is about two close friends, Sonny and Duane, that are in their final year of high school.
