Staples Center Research Paper
Sports play an integral part in todays society in not only keeping people healthy and in shape but also make for fun activity and competition. While
everyone tends to focus on exercise and enjoyment, they forget the importance of having a quality facility in order to practice their specific sport or
hobby. Sport facilities themselves have revolutionized the way sports are being played nowadays, especially on the professional level. Advancements
are being made on a daily basis to make the experience great for both athletic participants and the on looking spectators. Specifically though, today we
will focus on the Staples Center located in Los Angeles, CA and talk about its overall history while also outlining the tremendous effect it has had...

Merger Between Staples And Office Depot
Proposed Merger between Staples and Office Depot Leads to Concerns of Higher Prices
The effect and impact of corporate mergers of companies can be a significant change for the company's prosperity and growth as well as the
consumer's point of view also. Though few of the mergers and acquisitions might be helpful for the company and be profitable as well there are
always few risks and failures that come with the process. According to a study the company has only 50% chance of success when it comes to merger
and acquisition. But still very big companies do the merger because they can become bigger by combing with their competitors and end their
competition. But sometimes these mergers are expected to create a monopoly in the sector because they will dominate the whole sector and cause a
biased decision for the customers. This case talks about the merger between two of the biggest office supplies companies Staples and Office Depot.
Through this case we will discuss on the merger between the two big companies created a tension of monopoly and whether or not it will be
profitable for both sides of the merger. This "Mega–Merger" created a sense of stress in the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) also forcing it to file a
case against both the parties for creating a monopoly in the business. If we look at this case in the view of a Firm Manager we can clearly identify the
rights and the wrong in the case and effectively point of out how it is going to be a failure of success by

History in the Staples Approach Essay
One of Canada's contributions to the history of ideas has been a kind of historical economics. Now a neglected artifact within the history of economic
thought, as economics has moved on to non–historical, modeling approaches to understanding, the staples approach can serve to show how economics
can be enriched by a historical dimension.
What is the staples approach and what makes it especially suitable to an investigation of how history informs economic understanding? The staple
theory has been Canada's original contribution to the world of economic ideas (along with the notion of "effective protection" devised by Clarence
Barber of the University of
Manitoba3). The observations of Harold Innis, and others, in the 1930s led to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It should be emphasised that Harold Innis was an economist and the staples approach he put forward was market driven, in the sense that prices for the
staple and for the inputs into its production were the dynamic motive force in triggering, and sustaining,

National Policy, the geological survey – and accepted that without it Canada might never have come into existence as a leading world power. Since
The Wealth of Nations in 1776 economists had moved away from a study of what induceseconomic development to a study of the allocation of
resources . One of the virtues of the staples thesis was its rounded approach to both development and efficient allocation. In the language of Thomas
Kuhn (1962) this was a paradigm, reflecting a world view.
In Innis's staples approach considerable attention is directed towards the physical characteristics of the particular staple product under consideration.
One of his most important works, The Fur Trade in Canada, has as its first chapter a short description of the beaver and its typical locale, commencing

Downtown 's garment and jewelry districts and the Olvera Street Mexican market do draw a steady stream of retail traffic. A critical component in
downtown 's residential revival is the 50,000–square–foot Ralphs 's Grocery. Ralph 's is the spark needed to jumpstart in migration of residents to the

Currently, downtown retail rents average $22.33 per square foot, which is comparable to the rest of the region. However, vacancy at 11 percent is
double the countrywide average of 5.2 percent. That 's likely to change, especially in downtown residential neighborhoods where asking rents are
already higher.

Flora And Fauna Of The Columbian Exchange
Flora and Fauna in the Columbian Exchange The voyage undertaken by Christopher Columbus to attempt to find a more direct route to India would
fail in it 's goal. Columbus would not reach India, instead he would land on the banks of a world entirely unknown to Europeans of the time period.
His "discovery" of this New World would have far reaching consequences for both the world he found, and the world from which he departed. This
new landmass would prove to be incredibly important in world affairs over the following centuries, with the United States eventually becoming the
world superpower we know today. Diseases would be exchanged, decimating entire populations. Culture would be exchanged, bringing entirely new
ideas about social order to the forefront. Ultimately however, the exchange of food, and by extension animals, would prove to be the longest–lasting
and most important aspect of the Columbian exchange. This exchange of flora and fauna would shape both the New World and the Old, and would
have staggering implications for the future of Europe. The exchange of crops would prove to be essential for the expansion of European populations.
Staple crops in particular would migrate to Europe with returning ships, and crops such as potatoes and corn would become massively important in the
diets of European peoples. The staple crops brought to Europe also had the advantage of requiring growing conditions very different from traditional
European crops. This had the

Bread : The Bread Of Life
For as long as people can remember, bread has been notorious for being claimed as the "bread of life." Jesus Christ spread word to His people that
He was the "bread of life" to all humanity. Today, the vast history, meaning and purpose of bread has changed dramatically. It started as a grain and
made its way into beer production, medicinal uses, and carries on in religious ceremonies. Whether people are aware of it or not, bread has made
multiple social, economical, nutritional, and environmental impacts on society for years now.
When Where Breadmaking began during the Neolithic Age or New Stone Age around 12,000–3,000 BCE. This occurred in The Fertile Crescent, Indus
Valley, China, and the Americas. This was around the same time that agriculture was developing in hunting and gathering societies. According to
archaeological evidence, the process of "food–collecting cultures to food–producing ones gradually occurred across Asia and Europe from a starting
point in the Fertile Crescent" (CITE HERE). Farmers began cultivating grains, wheat, barley and introduced their innovations all across central Europe
to Egypt and North Africa. This accumulation of grain was a symbol of wealth. Exploration and expansion made it possible for bread to be spread
throughout other societies. When gathering transcended into cultivating around 10–12,000 years ago, it allowed civilization to create bread in
abundance to feed more people.
Why Agriculture led to more permanent

Genetically Foods And Genetically Engineered Food
Research Paper: Genetic Engineered Crops and Animals
This planet sustains various life forms and over time these organisms have evolved to better survive in the environments in which they live. Humans
are constantly trying to improve the world and the organisms in it. In order to achieve this goal, there is a powerful tool scientists are using called DNA
Technology. It is this technology that allows humans to modify, create, and/or destroy life as we know it. In this paper, I will review genetically
engineered staple foods and genetically engineered animals and will discuss which is more beneficial for humans.
REVIEW:
Genetically Engineered Staple Foods
Genetically engineered staple foods were created by scientists, using the human 's vast knowledge of DNA technology to enhance live crops. These
crops are genetically modified to become the "super crop", which is a crop with special traits such as resistance to insects, diseases, and/or the ability
of holding more nutrients. For example, Golden Rice is a genetically modified variety of rice containing large amounts of orange and red plant
pigments. This is known as beta–carotene, a substance which is essential in the human diet and is a precursor of Vitamin A. It is critical to combating
malnourishment because resolving hunger is not just about having enough to eat, but about "having the right combination of nutrients and calories
needed for healthy development" (Miyoshi 3). In Professor Naoki Miyoshi and his team 's

Los Angeles Clippers: A Case Study
The Los Angeles Clippers have become must see television over the course of a few seasons. The team has been able to shake the irrelevant tag that
it normally had when they were the joke of Los Angeles. From the well documented fall out of Donald Sterling, to the controversial acquisition of
Chris Paul, the Clippers have arrived. Sure the Clippers gave up a 3–1 lead to the Houston Rockets to get bounced yet again in the second round, but
the fact that they are even competing shows just how far they have come as an organization. Just a few short weeks ago, many were ready to write off
the Clippers when a key player to their team decided to leave via free agency. A huge part of Lob City, center Deandre Jordan, had all but packed his
bags to join the Dallas Mavericks. He verbally agreed only to recant his agreement to stay in Los Angeles. While this fiasco was going on, complete
with an emoji war and a very long card game, the Clippers added a Hall of Fame player to the roster. The Clippers added champion small forward Paul
Pierce during the Deandre Jordan saga. Once the Clippers were able to sign Jordan back, a player who makes the Chris Paul Blake Griffin pick and role
so deadly, they went from a questionable playoff team to a contender again.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

segmentation, most of the consumers come in because they are looking for products that must do with office supplies, where it be paper, file cabinets,

Pathos is used in Staples by once again the Eco Easy. The Eco Easy focuses on making the environment greener and by buying products from staples
you are helping the environment. Now this attracts "green people" especially the business men who want to see a change in the environment they can
contribute by buying these products. "Evaluating market segments is critical to marketing strategy development." (FrogDog2012.) These market
segments I think are very important to companies because it helps them get the competitive edge and advantage when trying to market the products.
This also comes with the slogan that Staples has, the marketing from "That was Easy" is the bread and butter of the company.

Event Analysis: Los Angeles Clippers Game Essay

his 26 straight double doubles. I had been to Staples Center before for a handful of Lakers games but never had I been to a Clipper game. I was very

It's interesting to see the selling points of each organization and how they try and fill the stadium. The Lakers do this with the tradition of winning

Inside of Staples Center there are tons of vendors selling Clippers merchandise such as jerseys, hats, t–shirts etc. There are also many different food
stations to purchase hot dogs, nachos, beer, etc. This side of sports has become crazy to me. Just because people are at a sporting event they feel
they need to get something to eat or drink because of the culture that has been created. Even during the game I noticed a group of guys drinking
beer, eating nachos at a table watching the game on a little T.V. screen even though they were a mere 100yards away from the actual game. Before
the start of the game there is always a pre game show with the two hosts for the T.V. broadcast on court somewhere talking about the game. However
the first thing I noticed when we took our seats was there was another game being played on court amidst the chaos of all the cameras and people on

The Snap ( Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ) And...
The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Women, Infants, Children) programs both have similar jobs. Both programs
attempt to help feed struggling families. In the past SNAP allowed members to purchase food staples and prepackaged food, but a recent bill is
being made in order to address these rules. These changes will deactivate members' abilities to purchase prepackaged food, and has limited them to
purchase only food staples. These food staples included foods such as rice, bread, fruits, etc. While the desired new rules for SNAP are similar to the
current rules of WIC, the bill will also attempt to allow members of WIC to purchase white potatoes in addition to their food staples. Multiple
commodities' economic standing will experience larger impacts on supply and demand from this proposed bill's changes and implications. As SNAP
shifts to strictly staple foods, the economic impacts will implement changes on the supply and demand of rice. In the short run the price of rice will
rise and the demand curve of rice will shift outward. This effect will take place because of SNAP's proposed limitations. If the members of SNAP
are limited to only food staples they will find themselves demanding more rice than before. This shift will cause an upward movement along the
supply curve. There will be an increase in the quantity of rice supplied in the long run because the demand will have grown from the limitations placed
on SNAP consumers that suppliers will have

Staples Incorporation States On Their Sit Essay
Staples Incorporation states on their sit, "We've been helping businesses for nearly 30 years, and it's all thanks to a broken typewriter ribbon." (Staples
Inc., 2014)
Tom Stemberg founded Staple Incorporation in 1985. Mr. Stemberg was a former supermarket chain executive. Over the Fourth of July, Mr. Stemberg
was working on a business proposal when his typewriter ribbon broke. Due to it being a holiday weekend most local supplies and stationary stores
were closed. So he drove from store to store looking for the correct ribbon and was not able to find it. Since Mr. Stemberg had so much trouble over
the holiday weekend trying to find the right ribbon for his typewriter, it made him realized that the world was in need of a store that provided office
products.
Ten months later Mr. Stemberg opened up Staples Incorporation becoming the first and only office supple store a round. Staples helped make office
supplies more accessible an affordable to customers in need of them. It was a one–stop shop for office supplies.
Since than, many things have changes for Staples, they grew in number of stores, expanded their product selections and becoming a truly global
company. But even though Staples increase in size and products they kept one thing strong. Their customers are always their number one priority and
Staples is there to help them make more happen no mater what it is they want to accomplish.

Taking a Look at Cassava
Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is a tuberous root crop that serves as a source of carbohydrate for more than 800 million people worldwide and its
cultivation is estimated to cover more than 18.9 million hectors (FAO, 2011). It is a vital source of food and income to resource poor farmers
(especially women) in the tropics and staple food crop for nearly 200 million people in the sub–Saharan Africa (Liu et al., 2011; Nyaboga et al., 2013).
In Tanzania, cassava ranks only second to maize and third to rice, with its calories contribution per day being 15 % (FAO 2009).
Cassava production in Africa is constrained with various pests and viral diseases especially cassava brown streak and cassava mosaic diseases.
Research efforts to genetically improve resistance against viral diseases, drought, postharvest deterioration and nutrients fortification of this crop are
underway (Zang et al., 2005; Vanderschuren et al., 2009; Nyaboga et al., 2013). All these efforts are through genetic transformation method which
relies on the ability of cassava to regenerate from somatic embryos to full plant. Due to heterozygozity nature of cassava, it is difficult to use its
zygotic embryos as starting materials for genetic transformation protocols (Raemakers et al., 1997; Sarria et al., 2000; Taylor et al., 2001; Siritunga and
Sayre 2003). Instead, organised structures from somatic embryo cotyledons and friable embryogenic calli (FECs) have been developed (Schöpke et
al., 1996; Taylor et al., 2004). FECs

Under The Bleachers: A Short Story
"Under the bleachers!" I said. We ducked and ran under the bleachers, but I lifted my head up then, Bam! I fall down to the ground, but don't feel
any different. As I got up to keep running Megan stopped me and said, "you just ran into the bleachers stop and take a breath." I guess she was
right. I touch my head and asked her if she can shine her phone flashlight on my hand. "Where should we walk to?" I asked. "I don't know" said
Megan. Elizabeth chimed in saying "let's just walk around seeing where we end up." The three of us walked around, and ended up at the playground
at Olmsted Elementary School. It was chilly out, but you only needed a sweatshirt. The playground was spooky at night. It felt like someone was

I hit my head and fell to the ground. The ground was hard and was cold. I felt my hands got scraped up, but that's relatively normal for me. I got up
quickly and started running like nothing happened. Megan put both hands on my shoulders to stop me. "You just ran into something hold on,"
she told me. I did what she was told because she was right. I put my hand to my head. My head didn't feel any different but just incase I asked if
she could shine her flashlight on my hands. The moment I saw red on my hands I started to get scared. Megan then shined it on my face. The
moment she said "OMG" I knew something happened. She started getting freaked out and disgusted. The look on her face was like she just saw
me get murdered. Finally she told me that my face was all bloody. I started to freak out even more. I ducked and ran back to the track. Everything
was blurry, but I didn't feel dizzy. I got to the turf and was about to cross it, but then I realized I didn't want to get blood on the turf. Even though it
was shorter to cut across the turf I didn't want to get blood on it. I decided to take the track around to the front gate. At the moment nothing was
going through mind. By the time I got the front gate the blood has ran down my face more because I can feel it dripping. It was cold against my
face. I weaved through the gates, and Elizabeth and Blake just looked at me. Elizabeth then realized it was fake blood, and by the time she realized
it Megan came running up. We both had to catch our breath and told her what happened. Right before we started telling her what happened, Blake
rode off on his skateboard. I was thinking jerk, but that thought quickly left my mind. There was more important stuff to worry about. We didn't
know who to call at first. "Should we call 911?" I asked. The two of them looked at me thinking that was a dumb question. "No" said Megan, but I will
call my mom or dad.

Descriptive Essay On My Birthday Gift
My Birthday Gift Today is my birthday and right when I came home from school, my Dad said, "Will, I bought tickets to the Warriors Vs. Clippers
game and it's 2nd to front row seats!'Do you want to go?" I thought for a minute of just going to the Staples Center to see Steph Curry and Klay
Thompson play. "Yes." I finally said. So I put my backpack away, got my Jersey on and we headed to Los Angeles. On the way my Dad looked at his
phone at a stop light and said that Beyonce and Jay–Z would be performing at the halftime show.
When we parked our car, we walked right straight to the stadium and we saw a blimp going by that said, "Go Clippers". When we got into the stadium,
my Dad and I filled up on some snacks like Sprite or Hot Dogs and then we went to go find our seats as we read the injuries on the board and one of
them read, "Blake Griffin". Our seats were the best ones in the house and we were right next to the floor. I saw Steph Curry walked right by me and I
saw Klay Thompson and I gave him a high five. When the game was about to start, Adam Sandler walked right by me and I said, "Hey Adam, I'm such
a huge fan and I love your movies." "Hey thank you kid what's your name?" "Will." "Hey Will nice to meet you." "Today is mybirthday and I saw that
you were going to be here." "Oh, well happy birthday. It was nice meeting you."
The game had just started has Steph drained a three and they said and on the screen they were putting up a contest for if they call your seat
number, you get to try and shoot a three from half court and win $5,000 and a 5 day trip to Hawaii. So after the first quarter was over they were
going to announce the number. "Alright folks." said the announcer. "We are going to announce the winner of that will be trying to win the jackbox
prize." "Alright, the section is in the 100's. The row is 2 and the number is 2." I can't believe it. They called the spot I was in and on the screen
showed me sitting as cheerleader were right next to me holding up a sign saying, "You won." "122 is the winner." said the announcer in a loud voice.
So after that the second quarter started and then it was halftime as the cheerleaders came by and took me to the court. "What's your name kid?" said the

Short Story
When I woke up that beautiful Saturday morning I remembered that my cousin was coming over to help decorate our barn for Halloween. She had
to do it for a service project with a friend; also she had to work for five hours. I was excited at first but then I remembered the ladders. " Here are all the
decorations that I want up," Mom said, "and you have to put all of the garland up high so that none of the teenagers will knock them down."
"That is a lot of garland. Do we have to put them all up?" I asked, hoping that we didn't have to put up all six of them.
"It can't be that hard," Elena replied
"I know but I had plans to sleep all day," I said

I still wasn't alright with being up on the ladders. We were positioning the ladders and my mom walked to check on us and said that we needed to

"Right here?" I asked moving it.
"No, I mean way higher," She said
"But we can't reach that high" Elena said, straining to get it any higher.
"Then move your ladders more," Mom said like it was so simple.
As we got down to move them I complained, "Mom we aren't tall enough to get the garland as high as you want."
"Ok than you can work on something else for right now."
We got down from our ladders to work on the tables and we finally started to enjoy to ourselves. After we had finished with the tables we went inside
for a little bit of lunch and to get some hot chocolate, but as we sat down to eat, I accidently dropped my plate. Luckily it landed right side up on the
table and it looked like nothing had happened. Elena started laughing so hard and soon, everyone was laughing, including me.
After we had eaten and gone back up to the barn we decided to get all of the garland over with. I slowly climbed up the ladder and I look down and felt
a little light headed, then I looked up and saw the wooden boards, that made me feel really dizzy. They looked like they were waiting for me to just put a
staple right through them so they could hold the beautiful garland in my hand. I started reaching for the board to help stabilize myself and the ladder

mention about the additional charges. For example, a jacket which cost $15 at the time of purchase, costs $25 at the final payment in addition to the
shipping cost. Furthermore, the customer review reflects the negative comments about the site. For example– Trina a dissatisfied customer leave a view
about a bracelet which she bought from this site and she says, "The quality is so bad, not worth the price paid." Similarly, there are a lot of other
customers who have complaints about the quality of the cloth. The company is using unethical business practices to remain in the market for a long run.
However, in order to maintain its goodwill in the market, the company should reform its codes of conducting business and practice ethical ways. The
website should provide clear and concise information about the shipping charges. For example– Fashionova an online clothing brand clearly states on
its website that "Free shipping on all orders over $75 and above." Trend gals can also adopt similar strategies so that the customer do not waste their
precious time creating an account and waiting for the confirmation. They already will be familiar with the taxes and shipping cost. The company
should also focus on the quality of clothes and the way of representation of the products in front of the

BACKGROUND Staples began operations in May 1986 when Tom Stemberg, a Harvard Business School
MBA graduate and pronounced retailer pioneered the first Staples office supply superstore in Brighton, Massachusetts. Tom Stemberg who was early
rooted in retail after leaving school to his first job on the store floor of Jewel Corporation, bagging groceries, stocking the aisle and maximizing sales
later to become the youngest vice president of the company at age 28. He was known for his aggressive marketing tactics which he used to
successfully develop and launch the first line of generic foods sold in the US, After leaving Jewel Corporation Stemberg embarked on a similar
adventure to run the grocery division of another retailer, he was later fired. Leo Khan a former rival in the retail industry approached Stemberg with
and the idea of a new business venture and offered to back the venture with $500,000, Stemberg review options but none seemed viable at the time.
The idea of Staples was born out of Stemberg interview for a top position at a Dutch–based warehouse club named Makro, Stemberg was astonished by
the rate at which office supplies were being sold at the time at the company and contemplated whether or not a superstore for this merchandise would be
worthwhile, pondering the idea he commenced an informal market research by garnering information from colleagues to which the responses where

The Night Michael Jackson Won Eight Grammy's
The crowed roared with excitement a Michael Jackson's name was called for the seventh time that night. The excitement was rushed into the building,
for Michael Jackson had just won the most Grammys in one night. It wasn't his last for the night, and it certainly wasn't his last in his life time. On that
night, February 28, 1984, was a night that would go down in history. In the next paragraphs, there are more facts about that night, in 1984, when
Michael Jackson's career changed for better and for worst.
During the making of the Thriller album, Michael Jackson was working with his family about there upcoming tour. There was a rivalry going on
with him and his family. One of Michael's brothers, Jermaine, had developed a jealous feeling toward. Michael. Jermaine had always been a little
jealous of Michael, which grew bigger over time. When Michael started making his own songs, Jermaine grew furious, for Michael was taking all the
fame, while Jermaine got very little. Jermaine was so made when Michael got all the fame, during Michael's speech at the Grammys, Michael said as
he was thanking everyone, "Even you Jermaine". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Staples Case Critique
Staples Case Analysis Critique
1. What is Staple's competitive advantage in the online marketplace? The critique team agrees that Staples.com's competitive advantage in the online
marketplace is Staples' brand name. The analysis team correctly points out that 75% of the market is being served by generic retailers, so that
Staples.com can use Staples' brand name to better reach into that portion of the market. Staples has an established customer network under its brand
name from which Staples.com can gain wallet share. Staples.com also has Staples' customer demand information and consumer feedback databases.
The critique team would add that the "click and mortar" can use Staples' established distribution and customer service systems ... Show more content on

The critique team would add that there is likely to be cannibalization of the catalogue business because the models are so closely–related. Staples
should commission a study to find estimated rates of cannibalization so that an orderly response can be implemented.
The analysis team is also correct that Staples.com should focus on market share over wallet share. The market is very large and growing fast. The
critique team would add that by capturing online market share ahead of competitors, Staples.com can reduce the cost of overcoming competitor
customer loyalty in the online market. The switching cost will still be absent for many customers that are new to the internet office supplies market.
The critique team would add that Staples' catalogue business increased wallet share by a factor of three. This is the very business that will likely be
cannibalized in the ordinary course of business by opening the online store. Staples should not spend too much money on trying to increase wallet
share when it will likely be transitioning between business units. However, Staples should still take the opportunity to market services as a way to
expand customer wallet. All marketing expenditures on promoting new services market share will spill over into wallet share. Any wallet share
campaign on services should be lower priority than market share marketing.
3. Do you think that Staples.com

Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay
Intro The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in 1966, currently has no system for
harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. Zambia has a monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its rain water in one small section of the
year and is dry and arid for the rest. This review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This area of research will prove
to be invaluable for the specifications of the water harvesting and bulk storage system as it will be the basis for which the required volumes of water
are calculated. The development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient amounts of water for the
refugees who live there or for the crops and animals. The objectives of this paper are to assess the current water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee
Settlement and to predict what the minimum volume is that will meet their basic requirements. The questions that I intend to answer are: – What is the
current water usage of the refugee settlement in Mayukwayukwa? – What is the minimum volume that will meet the basic requirements of the people
in the refugee settlement? An accurate data set of water usage of the Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa is impossible to find as there have been
no previous attempts to measure it for any reason. The total water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement is 64,240,000 Litres/Year. This

What Are Genetic Engineering?
According to the World Health Organization, micronutrient deficiency, especially vitamin A deficiency is the "leading cause of preventable blindness
in children and increases the risk of disease and death from severe infections. In pregnant women, VAD causes night blindness and may increase the risk
of maternal mortality" (http://www.who.int/nutrition/topics/vad/en/). Therefore, solutions need to be derived to combat these potential problems in the
future. Some of these strategies include endowment of nutrient supplements, enrichment of processed foods to contain more nutrient content, and
enhancement of staple crops with increases essential nutrient contents, known as biofortification (Zhu et al., 2007). Genetic engineering (GE) has
proven to be the consistent approach for biofortification due to the limitless diversity available within the specific gene pools of the staple foods and
can, therefore, be implemented directly to cultivars without the complex breeding programs (Farre et al., 2011). This allows for the GE of the staple
crops that can produce higher nutrient levels than those in conventional breeding. However, most of these engineered varieties are still at the
laboratory testing phase or in early field trials (ArjГі et al., 2012). One of the most known variety is the Golden Rice, which was engineered with two
genes with the ability to synthesize ОІ–carotene (pro–vitamin A) in the seeds (Ye et al., 2000). In plants, the biosynthesis of pro–vitamin A is turned on

Staples Incorporation states on their site, "We've been helping businesses for nearly 30 years, and it's all thanks to a broken typewriter ribbon."

As soon as the patient is positioned on the table, a thorough skin prep is completed. With new, clean scrub, we clean the skin with chlorhexidine
scrub from the prep tray, then rinse scrub with alcohol squares. This is repeated a total of 3 times, since the all gross debris has been removed
from our first scrub. I begin each scrub in the center of the scrubbed area, over the planned incision site, and scrub in a 'bulls eye' pattern toward
the periphery, never going back to the center with the same gauze sponge. The skin preparation should be thorough but gentle to avoid
unnecessary skin trauma. The final application of chlorhexidine solution is allowed to remain on the skin. It is important that the skin preparation
is started as soon as the animal is on the surgery table to allow for maximum scrub and contact time between antimicrobial and the skin. After skin
prep is complete, finish securing legs and make final adjustments in lighting. Limbs are tied to help stabilize the patient. Soft ropes are double
looped over each leg. One loop above the carpus and one below on the front legs, and one loop above and below the tarsus on the hind legs are
sufficient to hold the animal's legs. The legs are tied to the surgical table without slack in the rope using a quick release knot if possible. (This is also
known as the halter tie knot used in livestock and can be quickly released in case the patient needs to be repositioned in an emergency) In large,

Santa Dish
The dish Prawns(shrimp) in Cassava sauce(BobГі de camarГЈo) is made with ingredients that includes shrimps, cassava (similar to yucca), and tomato
sauce. The first step is marinating shrimps in lime juice, salt, and pepper. Then the shells and heads of the shrimps are boiled and simmered in water,
which will be use it later to make the tomato sauce. The cassava is then peeled and boiled with an onion and bay leaves. After the cassava has
cooked, the ropey fibers are removed. Then the cassava has to be mashed while adding coconut milk until soft. Next, the shrimps are briefly fried.
Chopped tomato, tomato puree, the onion that was previously boiled, and the prawn stock are simmered in a pan to make a tomato sauce. The mashed
cassava and coriander(cilantro) are mixed together with the tomato sauce in the pan. This delicious and rich in flavor dish is then topped with the fried
shrimp and served with steamed rice on the side. This recipe has such unique and flavorful characteristics. Although I thought the consistency of the
sauce would be thinner, the texture came out to be a little thicker and softer than expected. It had very appealing colors, including the orange form the

Staples Center Research Paper

  • 1. Staples Center Research Paper Sports play an integral part in todays society in not only keeping people healthy and in shape but also make for fun activity and competition. While everyone tends to focus on exercise and enjoyment, they forget the importance of having a quality facility in order to practice their specific sport or hobby. Sport facilities themselves have revolutionized the way sports are being played nowadays, especially on the professional level. Advancements are being made on a daily basis to make the experience great for both athletic participants and the on looking spectators. Specifically though, today we will focus on the Staples Center located in Los Angeles, CA and talk about its overall history while also outlining the tremendous effect it has had... Staples Center is also referred to as the B.C. and A.D. of downtown revitalization. It brought thousands of people to downtown, many of who hadn't come there in years." (A Slam Dunk, np) The arena is right next to the LA Convention Center and LA Live, a $2.5 billion dollar complex on 27 acres containing apartments, bars, concert theaters, restaurants, movie theaters, and a 54 story hotel and condo tower. This development is a continuation of the $7 billion dollar growth investment in Los Angeles spurred on by the Staples Center. (Orlov, np) "AEG's success has also led the company into the facility management market where they have managed or worked with more than 60 facilities since their group was formed. Some of the facilities that they managed in 2009 included: the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ...the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO...the Rose Garden in Portland, OR...WaMu Theater in Seattle, WA...the XL Center in Hartford, CT...the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN...and Rentschler Field in Hartford. • 2. Merger Between Staples And Office Depot Proposed Merger between Staples and Office Depot Leads to Concerns of Higher Prices The effect and impact of corporate mergers of companies can be a significant change for the company's prosperity and growth as well as the consumer's point of view also. Though few of the mergers and acquisitions might be helpful for the company and be profitable as well there are always few risks and failures that come with the process. According to a study the company has only 50% chance of success when it comes to merger and acquisition. But still very big companies do the merger because they can become bigger by combing with their competitors and end their competition. But sometimes these mergers are expected to create a monopoly in the sector because they will dominate the whole sector and cause a biased decision for the customers. This case talks about the merger between two of the biggest office supplies companies Staples and Office Depot. Through this case we will discuss on the merger between the two big companies created a tension of monopoly and whether or not it will be profitable for both sides of the merger. This "Mega–Merger" created a sense of stress in the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) also forcing it to file a case against both the parties for creating a monopoly in the business. If we look at this case in the view of a Firm Manager we can clearly identify the rights and the wrong in the case and effectively point of out how it is going to be a failure of success by ... • 3. History in the Staples Approach Essay One of Canada's contributions to the history of ideas has been a kind of historical economics. Now a neglected artifact within the history of economic thought, as economics has moved on to non–historical, modeling approaches to understanding, the staples approach can serve to show how economics can be enriched by a historical dimension. What is the staples approach and what makes it especially suitable to an investigation of how history informs economic understanding? The staple theory has been Canada's original contribution to the world of economic ideas (along with the notion of "effective protection" devised by Clarence Barber of the University of Manitoba3). The observations of Harold Innis, and others, in the 1930s led to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It should be emphasised that Harold Innis was an economist and the staples approach he put forward was market driven, in the sense that prices for the staple and for the inputs into its production were the dynamic motive force in triggering, and sustaining, Deleted: 6 the staple development. However, he was clear that Canada's development took place with massive government intervention – the railways, the National Policy, the geological survey – and accepted that without it Canada might never have come into existence as a leading world power. Since The Wealth of Nations in 1776 economists had moved away from a study of what induceseconomic development to a study of the allocation of resources . One of the virtues of the staples thesis was its rounded approach to both development and efficient allocation. In the language of Thomas Kuhn (1962) this was a paradigm, reflecting a world view. In Innis's staples approach considerable attention is directed towards the physical characteristics of the particular staple product under consideration. One of his most important works, The Fur Trade in Canada, has as its first chapter a short description of the beaver and its typical locale, commencing with this passage: The history of Canada ... Flora And Fauna Of The Columbian Exchange Flora and Fauna in the Columbian Exchange The voyage undertaken by Christopher Columbus to attempt to find a more direct route to India would fail in it 's goal. Columbus would not reach India, instead he would land on the banks of a world entirely unknown to Europeans of the time period. His "discovery" of this New World would have far reaching consequences for both the world he found, and the world from which he departed. This new landmass would prove to be incredibly important in world affairs over the following centuries, with the United States eventually becoming the world superpower we know today. Diseases would be exchanged, decimating entire populations. Culture would be exchanged, bringing entirely new ideas about social order to the forefront. Ultimately however, the exchange of food, and by extension animals, would prove to be the longest–lasting and most important aspect of the Columbian exchange. This exchange of flora and fauna would shape both the New World and the Old, and would have staggering implications for the future of Europe. The exchange of crops would prove to be essential for the expansion of European populations. Staple crops in particular would migrate to Europe with returning ships, and crops such as potatoes and corn would become massively important in the diets of European peoples. The staple crops brought to Europe also had the advantage of requiring growing conditions very different from traditional European crops. This had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jesus Christ spread word to His people that He was the "bread of life" to all humanity. Today, the vast history, meaning and purpose of bread has changed dramatically. It started as a grain and made its way into beer production, medicinal uses, and carries on in religious ceremonies. Whether people are aware of it or not, bread has made multiple social, economical, nutritional, and environmental impacts on society for years now. When Where Breadmaking began during the Neolithic Age or New Stone Age around 12,000–3,000 BCE. This occurred in The Fertile Crescent, Indus Valley, China, and the Americas. This was around the same time that agriculture was developing in hunting and gathering societies. According to archaeological evidence, the process of "food–collecting cultures to food–producing ones gradually occurred across Asia and Europe from a starting point in the Fertile Crescent" (CITE HERE). Farmers began cultivating grains, wheat, barley and introduced their innovations all across central Europe to Egypt and North Africa. This accumulation of grain was a symbol of wealth. Exploration and expansion made it possible for bread to be spread throughout other societies. When gathering transcended into cultivating around 10–12,000 years ago, it allowed civilization to create bread in abundance to feed more people. Why Agriculture led to more permanent ... Genetically Foods And Genetically Engineered Food Research Paper: Genetic Engineered Crops and Animals This planet sustains various life forms and over time these organisms have evolved to better survive in the environments in which they live. Humans are constantly trying to improve the world and the organisms in it. In order to achieve this goal, there is a powerful tool scientists are using called DNA Technology. It is this technology that allows humans to modify, create, and/or destroy life as we know it. In this paper, I will review genetically engineered staple foods and genetically engineered animals and will discuss which is more beneficial for humans. REVIEW: Genetically Engineered Staple Foods Genetically engineered staple foods were created by scientists, using the human 's vast knowledge of DNA technology to enhance live crops. These crops are genetically modified to become the "super crop", which is a crop with special traits such as resistance to insects, diseases, and/or the ability of holding more nutrients. For example, Golden Rice is a genetically modified variety of rice containing large amounts of orange and red plant pigments. This is known as beta–carotene, a substance which is essential in the human diet and is a precursor of Vitamin A. It is critical to combating malnourishment because resolving hunger is not just about having enough to eat, but about "having the right combination of nutrients and calories needed for healthy development" (Miyoshi 3). The team has been able to shake the irrelevant tag that it normally had when they were the joke of Los Angeles. From the well documented fall out of Donald Sterling, to the controversial acquisition of Chris Paul, the Clippers have arrived. Sure the Clippers gave up a 3–1 lead to the Houston Rockets to get bounced yet again in the second round, but the fact that they are even competing shows just how far they have come as an organization. Just a few short weeks ago, many were ready to write off the Clippers when a key player to their team decided to leave via free agency. A huge part of Lob City, center Deandre Jordan, had all but packed his bags to join the Dallas Mavericks. He verbally agreed only to recant his agreement to stay in Los Angeles. While this fiasco was going on, complete with an emoji war and a very long card game, the Clippers added a Hall of Fame player to the roster. Tom Stemberg with experience in the supermarket chain eventually became an entrepreneur. Tom wanted to make a local supply store/ stationary store to buy a supply Tom needed, many stores didn't offer what he desired. The idea then came to him that "The world needed a supermarket for office products" (Stemberg 1985). Staples then became the very first office supply store. The first store was opened May 1, 1986 in Brighton, MA. In the years to come, competition started to arise, in result Staples came up with their very first slogan "Yeah, we've got that" this help staples get a lead in the competition with Office Depot, but the slogan that carried them to the ... The Demographic, is practiced by the occupation and how the business is based on office supplies, Demographic is the main one on Staples market segmentation, most of the consumers come in because they are looking for products that must do with office supplies, where it be paper, file cabinets, binders and most things one can think of. The last and final one is Psychographic, in marketing this is the most needed and it focuses a lot on Pathos. Pathos is used in Staples by once again the Eco Easy. The Eco Easy focuses on making the environment greener and by buying products from staples you are helping the environment. Now this attracts "green people" especially the business men who want to see a change in the environment they can contribute by buying these products. "Evaluating market segments is critical to marketing strategy development." (FrogDog2012.) Both programs attempt to help feed struggling families. In the past SNAP allowed members to purchase food staples and prepackaged food, but a recent bill is being made in order to address these rules. These changes will deactivate members' abilities to purchase prepackaged food, and has limited them to purchase only food staples. These food staples included foods such as rice, bread, fruits, etc. While the desired new rules for SNAP are similar to the current rules of WIC, the bill will also attempt to allow members of WIC to purchase white potatoes in addition to their food staples. Multiple commodities' economic standing will experience larger impacts on supply and demand from this proposed bill's changes and implications. As SNAP shifts to strictly staple foods, the economic impacts will implement changes on the supply and demand of rice. In the short run the price of rice will rise and the demand curve of rice will shift outward. This effect will take place because of SNAP's proposed limitations. If the members of SNAP are limited to only food staples they will find themselves demanding more rice than before. This shift will cause an upward movement along the supply curve. There will be an increase in the quantity of rice supplied in the long run because the demand will have grown from the limitations placed on SNAP consumers that suppliers will have ... Taking a Look at Cassava Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is a tuberous root crop that serves as a source of carbohydrate for more than 800 million people worldwide and its cultivation is estimated to cover more than 18.9 million hectors (FAO, 2011). It is a vital source of food and income to resource poor farmers (especially women) in the tropics and staple food crop for nearly 200 million people in the sub–Saharan Africa (Liu et al., 2011; Nyaboga et al., 2013). In Tanzania, cassava ranks only second to maize and third to rice, with its calories contribution per day being 15 % (FAO 2009). Cassava production in Africa is constrained with various pests and viral diseases especially cassava brown streak and cassava mosaic diseases. Research efforts to genetically improve resistance against viral diseases, drought, postharvest deterioration and nutrients fortification of this crop are underway (Zang et al., 2005; Vanderschuren et al., 2009; Nyaboga et al., 2013). All these efforts are through genetic transformation method which relies on the ability of cassava to regenerate from somatic embryos to full plant. Due to heterozygozity nature of cassava, it is difficult to use its zygotic embryos as starting materials for genetic transformation protocols (Raemakers et al., 1997; Sarria et al., 2000; Taylor et al., 2001; Siritunga and Sayre 2003). • 35. Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay Intro The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in 1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. Zambia has a monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its rain water in one small section of the year and is dry and arid for the rest. This review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This area of research will prove to be invaluable for the specifications of the water harvesting and bulk storage system as it will be the basis for which the required volumes of water are calculated. The development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient amounts of water for the refugees who live there or for the crops and animals. The objectives of this paper are to assess the current water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement and to predict what the minimum volume is that will meet their basic requirements. The questions that I intend to answer are: – What is the current water usage of the refugee settlement in Mayukwayukwa? – What is the minimum volume that will meet the basic requirements of the people in the refugee settlement? • 36. What Are Genetic Engineering? According to the World Health Organization, micronutrient deficiency, especially vitamin A deficiency is the "leading cause of preventable blindness in children and increases the risk of disease and death from severe infections. In pregnant women, VAD causes night blindness and may increase the risk of maternal mortality" (http://www.who.int/nutrition/topics/vad/en/). Therefore, solutions need to be derived to combat these potential problems in the future. Some of these strategies include endowment of nutrient supplements, enrichment of processed foods to contain more nutrient content, and enhancement of staple crops with increases essential nutrient contents, known as biofortification (Zhu et al., 2007). Genetic engineering (GE) has proven to be the consistent approach for biofortification due to the limitless diversity available within the specific gene pools of the staple foods and can, therefore, be implemented directly to cultivars without the complex breeding programs (Farre et al., 2011). This allows for the GE of the staple crops that can produce higher nutrient levels than those in conventional breeding. However, most of these engineered varieties are still at the laboratory testing phase or in early field trials (ArjГі et al., 2012). One of the most known variety is the Golden Rice, which was engineered with two genes with the ability to synthesize ОІ–carotene (pro–vitamin A) in the seeds (Ye et al., 2000). In plants, the biosynthesis of pro–vitamin A is turned on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Current Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in 1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. I then made sure that the oxygen level was on full and that the isoflurane in the anesthesia machine was full. With new, clean scrub, we clean the skin with chlorhexidine scrub from the prep tray, then rinse scrub with alcohol squares. This is repeated a total of 3 times, since the all gross debris has been removed from our first scrub. I begin each scrub in the center of the scrubbed area, over the planned incision site, and scrub in a 'bulls eye' pattern toward the periphery, never going back to the center with the same gauze sponge. The skin preparation should be thorough but gentle to avoid unnecessary skin trauma. The final application of chlorhexidine solution is allowed to remain on the skin. It is important that the skin preparation is started as soon as the animal is on the surgery table to allow for maximum scrub and contact time between antimicrobial and the skin. After skin prep is complete, finish securing legs and make final adjustments in lighting. Limbs are tied to help stabilize the patient. Soft ropes are double looped over each leg. One loop above the carpus and one below on the front legs, and one loop above and below the tarsus on the hind legs are sufficient to hold the animal's legs. The legs are tied to the surgical table without slack in the rope using a quick release knot if possible. (This is also known as the halter tie knot used in livestock and can be quickly released in case the patient needs to be repositioned in an emergency) In large, deep–chested ... As bad as I wanted to get to my seats I couldn't resist exploring the stadium just so I could get a feel of every experience that has been held at this venue. I don't think I sat the whole warm up with just so much enthusiasm and energy running through my legs I could not sit and miss one moment of just seeing warm up lay–ups; I knew this game was going to be one to remember. Once tip off was under way I remember center Andrew Bynum tip the ball away from Nets center Brook Lopez with ease. I looked down the court and I got a glimpse of two of my favorite actors from a far , Adam Sandlar and Jack Nicholson, both sitting in front row seats. As the game continued this was clearly a no challenge for my team. We held a 15 point lead through most of the game. • 42. Santa Dish The dish Prawns(shrimp) in Cassava sauce(BobГі de camarГЈo) is made with ingredients that includes shrimps, cassava (similar to yucca), and tomato sauce. The first step is marinating shrimps in lime juice, salt, and pepper. Then the shells and heads of the shrimps are boiled and simmered in water, which will be use it later to make the tomato sauce. The cassava is then peeled and boiled with an onion and bay leaves. After the cassava has cooked, the ropey fibers are removed. Then the cassava has to be mashed while adding coconut milk until soft. Next, the shrimps are briefly fried. Chopped tomato, tomato puree, the onion that was previously boiled, and the prawn stock are simmered in a pan to make a tomato sauce. The mashed cassava and coriander(cilantro) are mixed together with the tomato sauce in the pan. This delicious and rich in flavor dish is then topped with the fried shrimp and served with steamed rice on the side. This recipe has such unique and flavorful characteristics. Although I thought the consistency of the sauce would be thinner, the texture came out to be a little thicker and softer than expected. It had very appealing colors, including the orange form the tomato sauce and the green from the cilantro. I really enjoyed every aspect of this dish.
