House California’s programs for homeless youth. The evening also highlights the support of our

Impact
We Are Unique
Covenant House California is the only agency in Los Angeles and the Bay Area to exclusively address
the needs of homeless youth ages 18 to 21. We give shelter to youth who have nowhere to go and
provide them with the support and skills they need to become successful adults.
Our comprehensive services help transform young lives. We offer street outreach, crisis shelter,
food, transitional housing, medical care, GED classes, job referrals, employment and educational
placement, internships, mental health services, life skills classes, and so much more. Since 1988,
we have served more than 160,000 youth.
Every Kid Deserves A Chance
Every year between 1.5 to 2.1 million kids in America will face a period of homelessness:
• An estimated 17,000 homeless youth barely survive on the streets of Los Angeles County and
in the Bay Area.
• Each year 1,500 eighteen year-olds emancipate from the foster care system in Los Angeles and
Alameda Counties. At least 50% will become homeless within 6 months.
• Homeless and emancipated foster youth are more likely to experience incarceration, unplanned
pregnancies, unemployment, dependence on public assistance, substance abuse, and lack of
educational opportunities.
• Only 3% of all shelter beds in Los Angeles County are designated for unaccompanied youth.
• 2 out every 3 homeless youth have never graduated high school or obtained their GED.
• In a 2010 study, 76% of homeless youth surveyed had been victims of a violent crime in the
previous 12 months.
Your Support Will Save A Young Life
93% of every dollar we raise directly supports programs and services for homeless youth.
