2. THE EVENT
Sleep Out: Executive Edition
Spend one night on the street so a kid doesn’t have to
• On Thursday, November 20, 2014, a group of senior executives will give up one good
night’s sleep to raise awareness and money for homeless youth at Covenant House
California.
• In 2013, Covenant House California hosted its second annual Sleep Out. Less than 40
sleepers raised $400,000. Our goal for our 2014 Sleep Out is to sign up 50 sleepers and
raise $500,000. We are asking each participant to raise a minimum of $5,000.
• Sleep Out: Executive Edition is a unique experience that will be shared on the same
night by hundreds of senior executives at Covenant House locations across the Americas.
• Last year, more than 700 executives participated in Sleep Out: Executive Edition
raised more than $4.3 million collectively.

3. ABOUT US
• We believe no one should live on the streets – especially youth. Unfortunately, as many as
12,000 homeless kids end up living on the streets in Los Angeles and Oakland each year.
• Last year, Covenant House California provided hope and help to nearly 6,000 homeless
youth giving them opportunity and skills to move from a life on the street to a life with a
future.
• Our doors are open to youth 18 to 21 regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or the
circumstances that have brought them to our doors. Every night more than 150 youth
find a safe place to call home at our shelters in Los Angeles and in Oakland.
• We provide 24/7 crisis care and have the widest range of services available for homeless
youth, including: street outreach, education, counseling, medical and mental health
care, employment assistance, and job training.
• Since first opening our doors over 25 years ago, we have assisted more than 160,000
youth.
• Donor support accounts for more than 80% of our $8.4 million annual operating budget.

• Top executives (CEO, CFO, President, etc.) of any size company
• Senior Executives (SVP, Managing Director, Partner, etc.) of large companies
• “Notable” people such as sports figures, celebrities, newscasters, entertainers, politicians, etc.
What is expected of me as a participant? It’s simple…
• Join us on event night ready for a unique and meaningful experience. In advance, we ask that you
commit to raising a minimum of $5,000.
• Fundraising is made easy by way of your personal page on the event site: www.thesleepout.org
• Covenant House California staff will help set your page up for you. You will need to supply :
1) a photo, and 2) a short statement where you briefly share “Why I am sleeping out”
• While fundraising is important, exposure and awareness are too. We ask that you reach out to at least
50 of your contacts to let them know you are making this effort on behalf of homeless youth.
Should sleeping outside concern me?
• Safety is our first and foremost concern whether it is for our youth or for you as participants. While the
spirit of the event is to sleep outside, sleeping inside in a sheltered area will be available should there
be extreme weather.
