2. ï After creating a front cover and a contents page for a
music magazine, I am now going to do a article on the
artist I am featuring. I have researched many articles
which are going to be in the same format as me, I
have chosen to do a Question and Answer style article
instead of a feature or a biography.
3. The layout of this magazine article is
very original, I think everything is
positioned well that it fits in well. A lot
of articles have a plain background
but this one goes against the normal
conventions.
As you can see this magazine article
is a question and answer style. The
majority of magazines with this style
have a number of columns to make
the layout more neat and tidy so it
looks presentable. The photo
normally is positioned on the left hand
side however this article, places it
right in the middle. She poses with a
straight face and uses her jewellary
on her hand as a prop. The headline
and sub headline is positioned in the
top left hand corner which gives it
more space as normally the photo
would be covering one whole side of
the page. The text needs to be clear
as the purpose of an article is to read
about someone or their life. Fonts are
important in making your magazine
different and fitting it with the specific
genre.
As itâs a Q&A article the text is quite important. Like this one
Questions are normally in a different colour or font in this case its
in bold, itâs to distinguish the question from the answers. In Q&A
articles the questions are normally said to get a detailed answer
which will attract the readers to read the article.
Colour scheme is very important, It needs to make sure that it fits
the house style. Normally for an article it has a plain background
as colour isn't the main focus. As you can see here the
background is pale pink, it fits into the artists character as she is
known for her girly and outgoing personality. Also, the headline
and some of the text is in pink linking to the background colour and
as you can see she has pink makeup on as she has pink lipstick.
4. This magazine article features Florence Welch,
she is best known from Florence and The
Machine. The layout of this article is quite
different to the one I looked at before. They
have used columns to position the text and
make it look presentable. They have the
background white which is quote common but
the photo is brought forward. The image of her
is on the left side of the page and going into the
right hand page. ââUSAââ is positioned as a back
drop behind the artist suggesting this isenât that
important, the image is the main focus âGot the
loveâ is the name of one of her songs, its in a
black bold font but in italic it makes it look more
easy to the eye, it looks more girly and
feminine. The article itâs self is about her
conquering America and what he life is like, this
is why USA is positioned in the background
behind her. There is a effect on the âDâ at the
start of the article, its in a different font to the
rest of the text, Q magazine does this quite a lot
in their articles to make that stand out more to
the readers. The colourâs link to the overall
house style of the magazine, red is used on
what she is sitting on, also red it on the front of
the magazine with the Q being the logo. Black
and red go well together they donât contrast so it
all fits in as a whole.
In most magazine articles there is a little information about
whatâs in the magazine underneath the headline, it
intrigues the audience by giving them a little taster of
whatâs to come. You can see that her name is in blue
instead of the traditional black used, its like that to just
highlight to the readers who this article is going to be
about.
