  3. 3. GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM <ul><li>To facilitate a smooth transition and assimilation into the new command, set the stage for a positive experience at the beginning of a tour, and to maintain an atmosphere for continued success. </li></ul>
  4. 4. WHO OWNS THE SPONSOR PROGRAM? <ul><li>Command Master Chief </li></ul>
  5. 5. WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL SPONSOR PROGRAM? <ul><li>Maintain pool of trained sponsors. </li></ul><ul><li>Integrate sponsor program on command tickler. </li></ul><ul><li>Assign sponsor within 5 day’s of notification of prospective gain, and initiate contact with member within 10 working days. </li></ul>
  6. 6. WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL SPONSOR PROGRAM? CONT <ul><li>Provide sponsor POC info via email, Welcome Aboard Package, or message (all 3 is optimum). </li></ul>

HOW ARE COMMAND’S NOTIFIED OF A PROSPECTIVE GAIN? <ul><li>Received orders. </li></ul><ul><li>Enlisted Distribution Verification Report (EDVR), Section 1. </li></ul><ul><li>Prospective gains in BUPERS Online. </li></ul><ul><li>CIMS </li></ul><ul><li>Direct contact from prospective gain. </li></ul>

SELECTING A SPONSOR <ul><li>Assigned sponsor will be E-5 and above. </li></ul><ul><li>Be the same marital status as the prospective gain. </li></ul><ul><li>Be enthusiastic and be willing to help people. </li></ul><ul><li>Be positive toward the Navy, command, local community, and sponsor program. </li></ul>

SELECTING A SPONSOR CON’T <ul><li>Be familiar with the command and its location or homeport. </li></ul><ul><li>Have successfully completed sponsor training. </li></ul><ul><li>Not be the person the individual is slated to relieve. The sponsor should remain onboard the command for at least 6 months after the arrival of the incoming service member. </li></ul>
  10. 10. WELCOME ABOARD PACKAGE <ul><li>Send at earliest possible date (within 10 working days of notification). </li></ul><ul><li>Tailored for specific command: </li></ul><ul><li>Location of command. </li></ul><ul><li>Sponsor information. </li></ul><ul><li>CO/CMC Letter. </li></ul>
  11. 11. WELCOME ABOARD PACKAGE <ul><li>Phone number of Command and sponsor. </li></ul><ul><li>OMBUDSMAN information. </li></ul><ul><li>Nice to have items... Photo, postcard, patch, etc. </li></ul>
