There is no doubt that India is struggling with housing problems
due to the increased urbanization as well the general growth in
population. In this regard, it is appropriate to find housing
agencies that will work tirelessly to address the housing
problem in India. There are many housing agencies that can be
used to address the runaway housing problem in India.
However, the most suitable of all is the Meghdoot housing
agency (Ahluwalia, Kanbur, Mohanty, 2014). This agency has
been chosen due to the fact that it is capable of assisting the
government in developing low-cost houses for the middle and
low-class workers in the city of Mumbai. This paper identifies
and discusses the core values of the agency, the vision, and
mission of the agency, and its key stakeholder with respect to
its commitment to addressing the housing problem.
Question I
Meghdoot housing agency is a well-established housing agency
situated in Mumbai whose core values are delivering quality
affordable houses, commitment, consistency, and reliability.
However, it is important to understand the extent or the degree
to which these core values are aligned with social change in the
city of Mumbai. Therefore in this regard, the agency’s core
values are fundamentally established to help people improve
their lives by building low cost or affordable houses that can
either be bought or rented by the low-income community. This
involves special programs that the agency has in place to meet
the needs of the under-served population (Ahluwalia et al.,
2014). The core values of the agency support the needs of the
people in different ways. For instance, the agency’ core values
support its vision as well as reflecting what the agency values
the most; providing low-cost houses. Equally, the help the
agency in making important decisions regarding the quality of
the houses constructed.
Question II
Like many other agencies across the world, Meghdoot housing
agency has a compelling mission that has enabled it to reach an
expansive population. The mission of the agency is to offer its
customers best deals in residential and commercial properties.
This proves to be an important input in guiding the decisions of
the agency regarding the construction of residential properties
that would be acquired at affordable costs. There is no doubt
that the mission of the agency is aligned with its core values.
For instance, the agency’s mission enables it to develop
strategies that consistently meet the needs of the people
(Sengupta & Shaw, 2017). Elsewhere, the mission statement
promotes social change in the sense that it guides the decisions
of the agency regarding the construction of low-cost houses so
as to eradicate the housing problem in Mumbai city. On the
other hand, the mission statement of this agency provides
evidence of how the agency supports the well-being of the
society and the international community. For instance, the
agency is committed to building residential and commercial
properties. This is useful for meeting the ever-increasing
demand for housing to meet both local needs as well as the
international needs since expatriates are sent to India and will
need accommodation.
Question III
There is no doubt that Meghdoot housing agency has a
compelling vision statement. The agency’s vision statement
asserts that Meghdoot takes pride in providing professional yet
personalized services to its clients so as to develop or establish
a long-term relationship for the benefit of all the stakeholders.
The agency’s vision is aligned with its core values in the sense
that is committed to delivering quality low-cost houses to meet
the needs of the ever increasing population in the city of
Mumbai (Gopalan & Venkataraman, 2015). Elsewhere, the
agency’s vision statement promotes social change in the sense
that the agency leverages on it to continue building low cost or
affordable houses to meet the needs of an exploding population.
The construction of affordable houses contributes positively
towards bringing about social change and has a good number of
people housed. It is worth noting that the agency’s vision
statement provides evidence of how the agency is contributing
to the well-being of the society by addressing the housing
problem in Mumbai city. Equally, the agency is guided by its
vision statement when making important decisions regarding the
construction of affordable houses.
Question IV
It is important to understand and appreciate the fact that an
agency cannot be successful without having committed
stakeholders. Therefore in this regard, Meghdoot housing
agency’s stakeholders include the government which provides
the required regulations regarding the construction of houses,
the customers who contribute to the existence of the agency by
buying or renting the properties and the project managers. It is
important o recognize the fact that stakeholders are either
internal or external. For instance, the government is an external
stakeholder since it provides regulatory services to the agency.
Elsewhere, the customers are equally external stakeholders in
the sense that they enable the agency’s project to succeed by
buying or renting houses from them. On the other hand, the
project managers are internal stakeholders that they are directly
involved in the development and running of the project or the
agency. All the stakeholders play different roles (Gopalan &
Venkataraman, 2015). For instance, the government regulates
the business, the customers play a recipient role by buying or
renting completed houses while the project managers are
involved in the leadership and management of the agency. Each
of the stakeholders is a useful element in gathering information
to be used in developing strategic plans. For instance, the
government will provide information regarding house plans as
well as the need to address the market gap between the low-
income earners. Elsewhere, the customers are the rich source of
information in the sense that they will provide their
specifications as well as to what extent they can afford the
houses. This will save the agency of monies that would have
been spent on developing complex houses that will not be
occupied the soonest possible. On the other hand, the
management provides useful information based on their market
survey and their findings regarding what the market needs.

Rapid urbanization has put social services such as housing
under enormous pressure. Cities have to cope with tremendous
inflow of people searching for employment, family ties and
immigration. Mumbai city of India is reported to be the most
populous of all the cities India with an estimated population of
12.4 million people.
Meghdoot Housing Agency is the chosen organization. It has
has to be a clear road map for improvement of the quality of life
among the city residents. Being a developing nation, India is
struggling with poverty and has one of the most restrictive laws
governing housing and real estate sector. It is surprising since
huge junk of these laws goes back all the way to the 19th
century (UNHSP, 2008). Moving forward, there is need to
ensure that the quality of life is elevated and improvement in
living conditions amongst the residents of major cities and rural
areas (Ahluwalia et al, 2014). This is the primary function of
Meghdoot Housing Agency.
In contribution to the improving quality of housing among the
residents, Meghdoot Housing Agency should adopt wide ranging
reforms which include: Developing strategies that promote
development of affordable housing that meets local needs.
Besides that, the organization should come up with options for
the people with special needs in the city which may include
development of exclusive homes for seniors. It order to achieve
this, it would be important to form strategic alliances alliances
to broaden revenue streams.
The need to keep up with the emerging business trends calls for
a well thought plan cutting to accommodate most of it. If
implemented well, aforementioned strategies of focus will not
only keep agency afloat for the foreseeable future but also help
improve the quality of life for the people it serves.

The Role of Change in an Organization
Organizational change refers to the steering of an organization
towards away from its current state and towards a desirable
future state to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency. During
the process of initiating change, managers should weigh out the
necessity of ongoing operation improvement to address new and
unpredictable activities related to the purported change. Many
theories have been proposed by different scholars to explain the
organizational change. Among the approaches that have been
developed to clarify the role of change in an organization is the
Forced-Field Theory of Change. Its proponent is Kurt Lewin.
This theory tends to explain many forces that arise from the
operation of an organization, its structure, culture, and
management systems that make it resistant to change.
Consequently, there are a variety of forces emanating from
changing activities and general environment that pressurize
organization towards change (Lewin, 1951). For a change to be
realized managers must seek for ways to increase the pressure
for change, reduction of resistance for alteration or perform
both concurrently.
In any organization strategic planning requires the manager to
strategize on the most suitable way to effect change. Some
organizations need modifications to be initiated fast while
others require a slow pace of change initiation. When an
organization faces a drastic change and unexpected change,
there will be no option left rather than the implementation of
the revolutionary change. Such radical change may be as a
result of a shift in economic climate or a new technological
enhancement that is vital to the operation of the organization
(Watzlawick, Weakland, & Fisch, 1974). Forced-field theory of
change is essential to consider while effecting these drastic
changes. It provides the basis of managing change in three
steps. First is the assessment of the need for change through the
recognition of an existing challenge and identifying the source
of such problems. Secondly, deciding on the required change
following the ideal future of the organization state and the
difficulties during the shift. Third, the application of the change
and deciding on the direction of initiating the change. Finally,
is the evaluation of change through a comparison of situations
before and after the change or by applying a benchmark.
When applying these changes, it is important to consider some
ethical issues. First, respect of opinions of the employees within
the organization towards the proposed change. It will enable the
managers to collect information on perception of individuals
towards the change and determination of the impact of effecting
the change. Secondly, giving prior notice to different areas
within the company that might be affected by the change. The
employees will prepare psychologically and adjust accordingly
preventing resistance that might arise on the proposed change.
Finally, the authority through which the change is administered
should be focused to make the involved parties aware of the
root of evolution and its importance. However, if these ethical
issues are not considered, there is a high possibility of
resistance among the people targeted to embrace the change.
The challenge of resistance is prevented through giving proper
education on the proposed amendment and explaining all its
beneficial aspects to the people and the organization. It is also
essential to collect the views of the employees towards the
change and conduct an analysis of the opinions to be more
accommodative during implementation to prevent resistance.
Organizational change is, therefore, a fundamental exercise and
should be handled cautiously to be successful.

In this regard, it is appropriate to find housing agencies that will work tirelessly to address the housing problem in India. There are many housing agencies that can be used to address the runaway housing problem in India. However, the most suitable of all is the Meghdoot housing agency (Ahluwalia, Kanbur, Mohanty, 2014). This agency has been chosen due to the fact that it is capable of assisting the government in developing low-cost houses for the middle and low-class workers in the city of Mumbai. This paper identifies and discusses the core values of the agency, the vision, and mission of the agency, and its key stakeholder with respect to its commitment to addressing the housing problem. Question I Meghdoot housing agency is a well-established housing agency situated in Mumbai whose core values are delivering quality affordable houses, commitment, consistency, and reliability. However, it is important to understand the extent or the degree to which these core values are aligned with social change in the city of Mumbai. Therefore in this regard, the agency’s core values are fundamentally established to help people improve their lives by building low cost or affordable houses that can
  • 2. either be bought or rented by the low-income community. This involves special programs that the agency has in place to meet the needs of the under-served population (Ahluwalia et al., 2014). The core values of the agency support the needs of the people in different ways. For instance, the agency’ core values support its vision as well as reflecting what the agency values the most; providing low-cost houses. Equally, the help the agency in making important decisions regarding the quality of the houses constructed. Question II Like many other agencies across the world, Meghdoot housing agency has a compelling mission that has enabled it to reach an expansive population. The mission of the agency is to offer its customers best deals in residential and commercial properties. This proves to be an important input in guiding the decisions of the agency regarding the construction of residential properties that would be acquired at affordable costs. There is no doubt that the mission of the agency is aligned with its core values. For instance, the agency’s mission enables it to develop strategies that consistently meet the needs of the people (Sengupta & Shaw, 2017). Elsewhere, the mission statement promotes social change in the sense that it guides the decisions of the agency regarding the construction of low-cost houses so as to eradicate the housing problem in Mumbai city. On the other hand, the mission statement of this agency provides evidence of how the agency supports the well-being of the society and the international community. For instance, the agency is committed to building residential and commercial properties. This is useful for meeting the ever-increasing demand for housing to meet both local needs as well as the international needs since expatriates are sent to India and will need accommodation. Question III There is no doubt that Meghdoot housing agency has a

The agency’s vision statement asserts that Meghdoot takes pride in providing professional yet personalized services to its clients so as to develop or establish a long-term relationship for the benefit of all the stakeholders. The agency’s vision is aligned with its core values in the sense that is committed to delivering quality low-cost houses to meet the needs of the ever increasing population in the city of Mumbai (Gopalan & Venkataraman, 2015). Elsewhere, the agency’s vision statement promotes social change in the sense that the agency leverages on it to continue building low cost or affordable houses to meet the needs of an exploding population. The construction of affordable houses contributes positively towards bringing about social change and has a good number of people housed. It is worth noting that the agency’s vision statement provides evidence of how the agency is contributing to the well-being of the society by addressing the housing problem in Mumbai city. Equally, the agency is guided by its vision statement when making important decisions regarding the construction of affordable houses. Question IV It is important to understand and appreciate the fact that an agency cannot be successful without having committed stakeholders. Therefore in this regard, Meghdoot housing agency’s stakeholders include the government which provides the required regulations regarding the construction of houses, the customers who contribute to the existence of the agency by buying or renting the properties and the project managers. It is important o recognize the fact that stakeholders are either internal or external. For instance, the government is an external stakeholder since it provides regulatory services to the agency. Elsewhere, the customers are equally external stakeholders in the sense that they enable the agency’s project to succeed by buying or renting houses from them. On the other hand, the project managers are internal stakeholders that they are directly involved in the development and running of the project or the agency. All the stakeholders play different roles (Gopalan &

For instance, the government regulates the business, the customers play a recipient role by buying or renting completed houses while the project managers are involved in the leadership and management of the agency. Each of the stakeholders is a useful element in gathering information to be used in developing strategic plans. For instance, the government will provide information regarding house plans as well as the need to address the market gap between the low- income earners. Elsewhere, the customers are the rich source of information in the sense that they will provide their specifications as well as to what extent they can afford the houses. This will save the agency of monies that would have been spent on developing complex houses that will not be occupied the soonest possible. Cities have to cope with tremendous inflow of people searching for employment, family ties and immigration. It has has to be a clear road map for improvement of the quality of life among the city residents. Being a developing nation, India is struggling with poverty and has one of the most restrictive laws governing housing and real estate sector. The Role of Change in an Organization Organizational change refers to the steering of an organization towards away from its current state and towards a desirable future state to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency. During the process of initiating change, managers should weigh out the necessity of ongoing operation improvement to address new and unpredictable activities related to the purported change. Many theories have been proposed by different scholars to explain the organizational change. Among the approaches that have been developed to clarify the role of change in an organization is the Forced-Field Theory of Change. Its proponent is Kurt Lewin. This theory tends to explain many forces that arise from the operation of an organization, its structure, culture, and management systems that make it resistant to change. Consequently, there are a variety of forces emanating from changing activities and general environment that pressurize organization towards change (Lewin, 1951). For a change to be realized managers must seek for ways to increase the pressure for change, reduction of resistance for alteration or perform both concurrently. In any organization strategic planning requires the manager to strategize on the most suitable way to effect change. Some organizations need modifications to be initiated fast while others require a slow pace of change initiation. When an organization faces a drastic change and unexpected change, there will be no option left rather than the implementation of the revolutionary change. Such radical change may be as a result of a shift in economic climate or a new technological enhancement that is vital to the operation of the organization (Watzlawick, Weakland, & Fisch, 1974). Forced-field theory of change is essential to consider while effecting these drastic changes. It provides the basis of managing change in three steps. First is the assessment of the need for change through the
  • 8. recognition of an existing challenge and identifying the source of such problems. Secondly, deciding on the required change following the ideal future of the organization state and the difficulties during the shift. Third, the application of the change and deciding on the direction of initiating the change. Finally, is the evaluation of change through a comparison of situations before and after the change or by applying a benchmark. When applying these changes, it is important to consider some ethical issues. First, respect of opinions of the employees within the organization towards the proposed change. It will enable the managers to collect information on perception of individuals towards the change and determination of the impact of effecting the change. Secondly, giving prior notice to different areas within the company that might be affected by the change. The employees will prepare psychologically and adjust accordingly preventing resistance that might arise on the proposed change. Finally, the authority through which the change is administered should be focused to make the involved parties aware of the root of evolution and its importance. However, if these ethical issues are not considered, there is a high possibility of resistance among the people targeted to embrace the change. The challenge of resistance is prevented through giving proper education on the proposed amendment and explaining all its beneficial aspects to the people and the organization. It is also essential to collect the views of the employees towards the change and conduct an analysis of the opinions to be more accommodative during implementation to prevent resistance.
