1. Middle School Life Science
For: 6th-8th grade students
Course Objective: The main goal of this course is to help students learn about the
amazing human body God has given us.
Course Description: Students will study many of the body systems including skeletal,
muscular, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous. We will discuss cells,
nutrition and the 5 senses. We will do many fun, hands-on activities to help students
learn and understand these topics.
Expectations: Students will be assigned reading and homework each week.
Homework may include answering review questions, completing crossword puzzles,
studying for quizzes or doing simple projects.
Required Materials: We will use the book Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy
and Physiology, published by Apologia Educational Ministries. In addition to the text,
each student will need the Anatomy Notebooking Journal for Exploring Creation with
Human Anatomy and Physiology. A folder will be required to keep loose papers
together in one place. You can purchase the two books from Christian Book
Distributors for $45.00.
Fees: Tuition for this class for the year is $250. $125 is due on or before September
14th and the remaining $125 is due January 18th. (Other payment options are available
upon request.)
There will be a supplies fee of $20, due also on or before September 14th. This
fee will cover the cost of supplies needed for activities and experiments.
Tutor Information: I am a follower of Jesus Christ first and foremost. My husband,
Dave, and I have 4 children all of whom are home schooled. I have a passion for God’s
truth and for teaching others about that truth. I serve in the elementary Sunday School
program at my church. I love science, especially life science, because it can open
students’ eyes to the amazingness and awesomeness of God, the creator of all life.
I have a B.S. in Biological Science and Secondary Education from Michigan
State University. Before becoming a home school mom I taught 6th-9th grade science
courses at a private school.
I look forward to tutoring with TLC, getting to know your students and exploring
God’s creation together with them.
