blurb
Tom Kisitu is a Ugandan church minister. He studied at New College, University of
Edinburgh and has served in various capacities in church and society, in Africa and
the United Kingdom. Tom and his wife, Winifred, have three charming children. He
serves as a Minister, at St Nicholas Church, Sighthill. Prior to joining St Nicholas,
Tom served as: Minister in familiarisation placement at Slateford Longstone Parish
Church; Locum Minister for St Nicholas Church of Scotland, Sighthill; missionary/
missions enabler/ deputation secretary for Action UK in Scotland and Northern
Ireland; and, for five years, as a missionary and centre manager for West Pilton
Christian Centre - a mission/ spiritual hub located in the heart of West Pilton
council estate.
In West Pilton, Tom was ably supported by a team of dedicated staff and
volunteers. Tom and his team were excited and indeed privileged to serve God and
His people in West Pilton and neighbouring communities, and to live-out their faith
alongside other Christians who live or work in North Edinburgh. They worked very
well together, and their outreach, support and encouragement ministry continued to
grow from strength to strength. They prioritized the need to pray for the people,
places and issues in the community, to form themselves into a strong and vibrant
team and to build a synergistic partnership in mission with the churches in the area.
They saw God do amazing things in their midst, and chose to move forward
together in obedience to the call of God on their lives to join Him in His mission
work by:
Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in meaningful, respectful and caring
ways.
Assisting people to grow in God, to join a local church and to find their
ministry in the Body of Christ.
Undergirding people with prayer, and providing them (in cooperation with
other support and care organisations) with support and encouragement in
their life, family and work.
Working and cooperating with Christians, churches and other Christian
groups for the good of the Gospel.
Tom says he is very happy and indeed privileged to serve as a church minister and
missionary in Scotland, UK, and to be part of the team of good men and women of
God whom, like him, God has called, equipped and sent out to enable His people to
know Him, to make Him known, and to lead more meaningful, fulfilled, purpose-
driven, productive and happy lives”.
