Twinkle, who had been napping in front of a blazing fire,...
Twinkle, who had been napping in front of a blazing fire, woke with a start. "What's that swishing sound?" she asked Charlie, who had been sleeping
on the back of her old ratty armchair. Charlie yawned and rubbed his eyes with his tiny paws. "I slept so well," he moaned. "You always sleep well,
Charlie," Twinkle said. Whoosh. Whoosh. What a strange noise, Twinkle thought. Whoosh. Whoosh. "What is that?" she asked again. "It's Swifty, the
swallow," Alfie croaked from the top of the bookshelf. And really, when Twinkle looked towards the window, she could see Swifty dashing past the
house. He was shouting something, but Twinkle couldn't hear what he said. She threw her comfy quilt on the floor, struggled up, stepped over Hugo,...

Twinkle had been living a peaceful life with her friends, the animals, for many years, but she always feared, things might change some day. She
knew it was only a matter of time and her big sister Storm would find her. Maybe Storm didn't know yet where Twinkle lived, but Twinkle assumed
she was on her way. Why else would she leave the beautiful island in the sea and their family home? "Did you make sure she didn't follow you
when you flew back?" she asked Swifty. "Yes, I did. She left a few days before I arrived. If my calculations are correct, and she has found out
where you live, she could turn up any day." How awful, Twinkle thought. "We have to go to the village tomorrow, to buy food," she said. "It will be
a perfect opportunity to find out if she's sneaking around. Until then I will renew the protective spell around the clearing. She may very well find
the forest, but she will have a hard time to find the house." It was early in the morning and Twinkle, Alfie, and Charlie were getting ready for their
trip to the village. Alfie had cleaned his feathers until they were nice and glossy. Twinkle had brushed Charlie's fur with her own comb and he
looked as if he'd taken a bath. She had much less luck with her own hair and, in the end, decided to use some of the lovely smelling hair gel she only
used on special occasions. It was warm outside; she didn't need a coat. She was wearing a pair of purple jeans, a bright green pullover, and her favorite

Rozzy's Ironic Figures: A Narrative Fiction
Delphi Rozzy walked into the recording studio carrying her black cat Bart. As President of the Junior League of Atlanta witches, it was her duty to
record a short weekly address. Plus, she had to break the love spell she had accidentally placed on Jake Baton during their senior year of high school.
Mastering spells was not Delphi's strongest attribute. The week before, she had turned the king of the trolls into an ant instead of a giant. The old
biddies in the coven were still gossiping over that oops.
Jake stood from his office chair. His dark eyes blazed with hunger. "Sit."
Bart jumped down and looked at him. "Loverboy, fetch me some tuna. Pronto."
"Hush." Delphi looked at Bart, then stole a glance at Jake. Her stomach flipped. She took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Game changer." Jake reached up, wrapping his hands around the troll's neck and snapped it in one swift jerk. He tossed the body down and rushed
to Delphi. Tears rolling down his face, he looked up to Bart. "What do I do?"
"For the love of magic. Does anyone read the rulebook? Kiss her!"
Jake leaned over her pale lips, and brushed his lips across her tender flesh. A tear splashed onto her cheek. Delphi moaned and opened her eyes. "You
kissed me."
Bart swaggered over to Delphi. "Sleeping Beauty, look at his chest."
Delphi swatted Bart away. She reached up and pulled Jake back down. "Kiss me again."
Jake kissed her and then she whispered, "I don't unseal the spell."
He grinned. "Shall we go for the second option now?"
Bart huffed. "I need some catnip. Open your eyes. Look at his chest. He has the seal of the protective dragon. He's immune to your spells. The buffoon
is really in love with you. And he's trying to get in your panties."
"You're protected from me?" Delphi pushed Jake off her and sat up. Her head spun from the poison and the truth. "All these years, you let me think it

The 's Arms Down, Out Of Breath
Ebon put his arms down, out of breath. He imagined his master smiling and telling him what a good job he had done. The thought made him swell with
pride.
Something he saw yanked him out of his thoughts. The back of the crowd was stirring. He turned and cut the man, who was about to be burned, loose.
"May the King bless you!" The man cried as he ran to the outstretched arms of his family.
Ebon smiled as a deep sense of satisfaction washed over him. He then turned and pushed his way to the back of the crowd. He stood aghast at what he
saw.
The two Dark Wizards that had killed Eldon were fighting each other! The boy had drawn his sword and was hurling spheres of green light at the girl.
The girl tried hard to deflect all of them with her sword. Dark Wizards could not do shield spells. The boy grabbed his sword with his other hand and
pulled it apart. It split into two swords! His voice roared like thunder. "You are a disgrace to the Dark Wizards! You are a disgrace to me!"
The boy continued to yell a spell that Ebon had never heard before. Ebon could see that the girl was beginning to lose the battle. He watched her
swing her sword in vain. She kept stumbling back. Finally, she tripped and fell over. Her sword clattered a few feet away. Ebon found himself with an
inner struggle. These were murderers. They killed without hesitation. They were ruthless, unstoppable, and unforgiving. But the boy was really about to
kill her. Even if they were bad, he still felt a need to help. He

Personal Opinion Regarding Education and High Taxes
I was in fourth grade, and we used paper and pencil. Then we switched to the flip program. I liked it but now we have to raise taxes to keep it. We don't
even need it! I Think we should get rid of flip, because if we kept flip we would have to raise the taxes, kids need to learn how to research with a book
when they need it, they need to get used to using pencil and paper more than typing, and it will increase the chances of cyber bullying. Taxes these days
are high enough, and raising the taxes even more will not help at all. The more the taxes we have to pay the slower the economy moves and the
higher unemployment. Besides, our tax system grows too progressively already! If we raise the taxes even more it COULD cause fights over taxes
being too high.Think about the people who barely have enough money to pay for their taxes already. Us raising it would make it worse. It could even
effect you!"A democracy is three wolves and one sheep voting on what's for dinner." Neil Boor.
Think, you're on a computer and you are researching piranhas. It says piranhas can grow as big as a small car! Then you go tell a parent or friend
who has had piranhas before. They say that's wrong and what you used is not trustworthy (true story). You see websites might not be trustworthy or
have what you are looking for, but on the other hand books are almost always right (unless outdated). So I should of used a book instead of the internet,
but what if my teacher only taught how to research with the

Butterfly : A Short Story : Princess Eclipsa Butterfly
The pervasive darkness in the Forest of Certain Death marked everything with a pale, comforting gloom. The buzz and chirp of insects were a
familiar background concerto for Princess Eclipsa Butterfly as she ambled through the woods. Her legs and feet were covered by ebony trousers
and hiking boots that aided her in evading the spiky trunks of trees. Her dark purple blouse with its long sleeves and high neckline shielded her
from the forest's nightly, cooler air. For being twelve years old, she thought she knew her way around this forest quite well without the use of the
magical, yet safer, pathways her fellow Mewmans relied upon. Thinking about how long I've been sneaking out to play here, that comes as no
surprise. She thought, feeling a swell of pride at her own resourcefulness and intimate knowledge of the woodland. Eclipsa paused in her walk to
look up at a group of bleeding willow trees, keeping the hood of her black cloak in place on her head, which helped her blend into her surroundings.
The snowy–white, spiky trunks of the trees stood firm even in the greatest challenges. There were some with thick branches that grew upward as if
reaching for the sky with their enflamed leaves. Others possessed skeleton thin branches that were flexible and strong, bending without breaking as
they hung down in blood red clusters. A small smile graced her lips as she admired their crimson beauty and danger. They were always her favourite
trees in this forest due to how

Starlight And Trixie : Twilight And Twilight
"Starlight and Trixie...how can I put this?" "It's alright, Cadance," said Twilight. "I'll tell them." "Tell us what?" Trixie queried. Starlight Glimmer was
just as anxious to know. Twilight sighed. "We just had another encounter with Stellas Spatium; he was able to break through the city's defences with aid
from one of its residents. Me and my friends tried to use the elements of harmony against him–it didn't work! It turns out he was pursuing the elements
to transform them into the 'Dark Elements'! Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Applejack have all become the exact opposite of what they stand
for, and are now serving Spatium. In other words, I gain no pleasure saying it, but there's even less hope than there was before!" "We can't just give
up!" Trixie protested. "I wouldn't even suggest such a ridiculous course of action for even a single moment," said Twilight. "I think the very first one
we take should be re–rendezvousing with my family and Fluttershy," Cadance offered. "Strength in numbers, you know?" The others nodded, and all
departed, with Tirek, of course, being the exception to this. The sky darkened, and the air became irritatingly chilly, as if it had no concern for its ill
effects on ponies. As the atmosphere became increasingly gloomy, so too did the group's moods; even Trixie, despite what she had voiced, could not
help feeling utterly hopeless. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– "Stellas Spatium?"

Conspiracy Theory Of Pizzagate
The spread of fake news can be detrimental and life altering without checking the validity of sources and facts before passing on such news to others.
Pizzagate was a conspiracy theory that went viral during the 2016 Presidential Election campaign, which alleged there was a child–sex ring taking
place and the top Democrats had something to do with it (Pizzagate: A Slice of Fake News). Some believe it all started when John Podesta, Hillary
Clinton's campaign manager, had his email account hacked. Tons of emails were leaked and made public. His emails were said to contain coded
messages that referred to human trafficking and were also connected to the Comet Ping Pong pizza parlor ("Pizzagate: A Slice of Fake News). James
Alefantis is the owner of the Comet Ping Pong and also an acquaintance of Podesta. One email did contain Podesta and Alefantis discussing a
fundraiser idea for Hillary Clinton, but no talk happened about the alleged child–sex ring. While this 'news' was spreading fast, Alefantis and his forty
plus employees were receiving deaths threats, negative tweets on Twitter and Facebook, and facing harassing altercations with strangers. The staff
observed social media outlets and "counted five #pizzagate Twitter posts a minute" at one point (Kang). Alefantis himself said that, "From this insane,
fabricated conspiracy theory, we've come under constant assault." (Kang) The only people that know what is true in the Pizzagate conspiracy theory
are the ones who are

Frozen: A Tale of Two Princesses The fictional movie Frozen is based on the lives of Anna and Elsa, two sisters who are also princesses. Frozen
received many prestigious awards in the film community, such as Academy Awards and Golden Globes. The fact that Frozen proved to be such an
adored and acclaimed movie did not come as a surprise to me. After watching Frozen with my younger daughter, it quickly became one of my favorite
Disney movies due in part to the positive messages it taught throughout the movie. Anna and Elsa are the two main characters in this movie. In the

Anna begs Elsa time and time again to play and do things that they did earlier in their childhood. Elsa simply instructs Anna to go away and leave
her alone, since she is not allowed to have contact with anyone for fear her powers might harm them. The movie takes another dark, twisted turn
when Anna and Elsa are both orphaned at a young age when their parents' ship is overturned at sea. Following their parents' death, it is learned that
Elsa will become the new Queen. The castle doors have remained locked for years in an effort to hide Elsa's powers from the Kingdom of Arrendele.
To celebrate Elsa becoming Arrendele's new queen, acoronation celebration is held inside the castle. Elsa is apprehensive and anxious about the
ceremony. She fears that the kingdom will learn of the powers she has been desperately trying to conceal her entire life. Anna sees the coronation
ceremony as a
chance to interact with new faces and host an extravagant ball. While Anna craves for attention and interaction, Elsa shies away from new people and
feels threatened by outsiders. Being that Anna is the hopeless romantic in the story, she is quick to fall inlove with Prince Hans, almost immediately
after they meet. Anna asks Elsa for her blessing to marry Hans. Elsa, being level–headed and the more rational of the two, quickly denies Anna's
request. An argument soon follows, and Elsa is

The Pride And Joy Of The Family
They 've always called me superstitious, even mad. They 've always called the happening a "coincedence." But I know better – and so does Uncle Van,
if he is still alive. It occured late at night. Not a particularly blustery, terrifying, or paralyzing night. On the contrary, it was rather ordinary, with a light
dusting of snow on the pavement. After a round of holiday excursions, an uneventful evening with just the family (such as it was) was quite welcome,
though others might have called it depressing. We were all gathered around the fire, on the last night of the old year. Julie, the veritable pride and joy
of the family, was there, and so were my father and mother, little Ross, and a small army of aunts, uncles, and cousins. And then of course, there was
Uncle Van. Uncle Van was semi
–legendary in the family. Nobody knew much about him. Why he had shown up at all was a mystery in itself. He
looked quite young, but he was old. No one knew how old. His hair was graying only at the edges, and he step was brisk and lively. His age was only
betrayed in his old, old, eyes. Uncle Van possessed a certain genius for storytelling. I confess that I had spent many of the previous weeks making
eyes at Julie, who had come to stay for the holidays. But for hours, Uncle Van had held us under a spell, and we sat as wide eyed and open mouthed
as any naive
babe and listened to the tales of myth, mystery, and magic that he told us. Even to this day, I

miles out from the shack and found a piece of Swiss cheese and said, "Right here." He told us to click our watches and suddenly I was in a long dark

Creative Writing: Ebon
Ebon was awake first the next morning. He was still tired, but he figured they had to move quickly. He stood up and slung his knapsack over he
shoulder. He wanted to search for their campsite from the previous night. He walked over and shook Ilene awake. They were both wet with morning
dew. I guess it's refreshing. Ebon thought. "Wha... Oh. Hey Ebon. Good morning." she mumbled sleepily. "We had better go looking for our
campsite." Ebon said. Ilene rolled over and did not get up. Ebon sighed. "Well, you asked for it." He stretched out his hand. "Mittuam." he whispered.
Water sprayed out of his hand and splashed all over Ilene. She coughed and stood up, frustrated. "What was that for!?" Ebon shrugged. "You wouldn't

"Are you hungry?" She looked at her stomach. "Famished." she replied. "Let's hope the inn at this town is better than the last." Ebon said. "You
would not believe how bad the food was." "Yeah. I've gotten pretty sick of dried meat and that cracker stuff. Lucius did not have a good sense of

Editing Proofreading
Editing and Proofreading
This handout provides some tips and strategies for revising your writing. To give you a chance to practice proofreading, we have left seven errors
(three spelling errors, two punctuation errors, and two grammatical errors) in the text of this handout. See if you can spot them!
Is editing the same thing as proofreading?
Although many people use the terms interchangeably, editing and proofreading are two different stages of the revision process. Both demand close and
careful reading, but they focus on different aspects of the writing and employ different techniques.
Some tips that apply to both editing and proofreading
п‚· Get some distance from the text! It's hard to edit or proofread a paper that you've just finished ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you read silently or too quickly, you may skip over errors or make unconscious corrections. п‚· Separate the text into individual sentences.
This is another technique to help you to read every sentence carefully. Simply press the return key after every period so that every line begins a new
sentence. Then read each sentence separately, looking for grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors. If you're working with a printed copy, try using an
opaque object like a ruler or a piece of paper to isolate the line you're working on.
п‚· Circle every punctuation mark. This forces you to look at each one. As you circle, ask yourself if the punctuation is correct.
п‚· Read the paper backwards. This technique is helpful for checking spelling. Start with the last word on the last page and work your way back to the
beginning, reading each word separately. Because content, punctuation, and grammar won't make any sense, your focus will be entirely on the spelling
of each word.
You can also read backwards sentence by sentence to check grammar; this will help you avoid becoming distracted by content issues.
п‚· Proofreading is a learning process. You're not just looking for errors that

My First Ever Defence Against The Dark Arts Lesson
Lesson 1: Introduction
Yesterday was my first ever Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson! I can tell it's going to be my favourite subject, well, maybe joint favourite along
with Charms. We met our Professor, Melanie Silvers, who seems absolutely lovely. I've heard stories about how lots of professors in the past, before
the Second Wizarding War, ended up having to leave after only one year, so I hope that doesn't happen to Professor Silvers. We received our syllabus,
which looks so exciting! So many different spells and creatures to look at each week!
We learned two incantations yesterday; theWand–Lighting Charm and the Wand–Extinguishing Charm, and I have been practising them both in my
spare time. The Wand–Lighting Charm, Lumos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After another few attempts, the light was significantly more yellow in colour, and I felt very pleased with this outcome.
The Wand–Extinguishing Charm, Nox, is a lot easier to use. At first, it took me a few attempts to get it right, but I can successfully use it each time I
require the effects of Lumos to be removed. It feels really exciting to be using a spell that simple requires a flick of the wrist and a short word!
Lesson 2: Bright Lights and a Little Softener
A few days ago we learned about Verdimillious and Spongify. I have since had the chance to try out both of them!
On Monday evening, I was running through the grounds to get back into the Castle before dark, when I tripped on a tree root and fell over. I think
I was unconscious for some time and when I awoke it was quite dark. I tried to move, but I had broken my ankle. I needed to find a way of alerting
someone to where I was. My muggle grandfather had taught me Morse code when I was younger, so I thought I might be able to use it with Lumos to
attract attention. My head hurt and I wasn't able to concentrate properly, so after saying "Lumos!" I could only see a faint white light that wouldn't
really attract any attention at all. I realise now that I had forgotten to think about charging the spell properly! I took a few moments to rest.
I thought about Verdimillious too. I had picked it up pretty easily over the last

Critical English Essay
Critical Essay
Humanity lives in an age of new and exciting technologies that enables people to improve their writing skills and enhance their reading abilities. This
digital age where communication is instant and knowledge is just a Google search away has mean that language has had to evolve and change with the
times. The digitalisation of books in inventions such as an e–book reader, the rise of new technologies such as mobile phones with their use of
emoticons, the use of the internet in the development of the English language through communication on social media, and the use of spell–checker to

Abbreviations, acronyms and emoticons have all been put into use through billions of text messages. The one hundred and sixty character limit has
meant that proper spelling and grammar has to give way to a more practical form of communicating. Daily Mail columnist John Humphrys in his
article 'I H8 txt messages: How English is ruing our language' thinks that people who text are doing what 'Genghis Khan did to his neighbours eight
hundred years ago.' (Humphrys 2007). However, as author Henry Hitchings in his book A History of Proper English (Hitchings 2011) points out
the comparison '...is not the same in fact or in spirit....' (Hitchings 2011 p 296) as people who text know the difference between writing for
schoolwork and writing for their friends (p. 296). Although mobile messaging may be crude compared to the more civilised form of English, it
still has some benefits. For example the asterisk symbol has been used as a way of correcting mistakes (Collister 2015). It is a way to 'avoid a
conversational detour.' (Collister 2015). People can use the asterisk symbol instead of wasting precious time trying to fix their mistake. The asterisk
symbol, adopted by the technologically minded (Collister 2015), is a great and quick way of fixing mistakes but still maintaining that flow of
conversation. An emoticon can also help to '...add meaning to a message or express meaning all on their own.' (Collister 2015). People can use
emoticons to express a range of emotions from happiness to anger and people will be able to understand what they mean. The invention of mobile
phones, through the use of symbols and emoticons to express emotions or fix mistakes, have helped language to evolve, and thereby improving writing
and reading skills through the promotion of flexibility, by ensuring that not all communications is just through

Write An Essay On The Event In Las Vegas
When a human life is taken unexpectedly it's unfortunate; when 58 people are murdered and 489 others wounded then it is a cataclysmic disaster.
This is exactly what happened on what was meant to be a fun filled night in Las Vegas the evening of October 1, 2017. Thousands gathered in the
"Sin City" to enjoy an outdoor concert when fire opened unexpectedly on all those innocent lives. I distinctly remember waking up the following
morning, turning on the news to reveal the carnage, and feeling a sense of despair at the atrocity that took place and lives taken because of one
deranged man. At first, accurate news was reported as the details of the mass murder unfolded. Soon after, accurate news was jumbling with fake news

Most major sites have expertise in the area they talk about and will back up their claims with quotes from highly regarded professionals. As a
result of the heavy social media usage among the upcoming generation combined with the fact that large quantities of people gather their
information from these social media sites, it is imperative that the issue of fake news is addressed. The social media platform is the ideal breeding
grounds for fake news since information can be spread with the click of a button with little to no fact checking. The reader must remember that fake
news exists solely to provoke a response and if the material seems outlandish or impractical, then it probably is. One way to address the growing
problem is to question what we read. We should get in the habit of comparing the information provided to other sources to see if the facts line up. Also,
Melissa Zimdars offers solid advice by assessing the domain. Information from washigntonpost.com.co, NBCnews.com.co. ABCnews.com.co,

another way to combat spreading of fake news. By doing so, one can start reporting the fake news to the social media administrator and blocking
further information from those sites. If we can all make an effort to question the sources and information we read then we can take the

Creative Story : A Short Story
Jack smiled as he walked down the street to Chris's house, he had already had breakfast but knew he could expect another once he got there. Jack
glanced over the water at the brightening sky. The sun had not risen yet today but there was already signs of activity in the city, workers moving
around the port, ships getting ready to sail, and several small shops opening their doors. However, as he moved inward past the common district and
into the bureaucratic district people were only just beginning to awake, though of course it was already in the third hour of morning. He also knew
that Chris would still be in bed at this time, and expected he would arrive at Chris's house soon after he arose.
He and Chris had met 10 years ago when Jack had been wandering around the port, Chris was there because his parents had brought him, he was
walking towards the large crane at the port. Chris was too small to be noticed by the men working the crane, but Jack had good eyes and noticed him
wandering toward the crane. Jack knew even then, his father had told him many times, that being around cranes that were in use was dangerous. He
cried out for the boy he saw to stop, but the boy ignored him and began running, so he raced after him and shouted for him to stop again. At this sound
the man who was about to start the crane noticed the boy running over and picked him up and brought him back to his parents, and that was how they
met.

Descriptive Essay Roommate
I went back into my dorm room. I sat my things down on the kitchen table and turned to the fridge, opening to get a drink of water as I was literally
dying of thirst.
"Are you my roommate?" I jumped and quickly turned around. My roommate's appearance that I just met now, has a light brown bob cut, rounded
glasses with grey eyes, wearing a casual navy blue dress with a red leather belt. She stood near the table with her boxes and bags and I gave her a calm
look, with a gentle smile.
"Oh yes, my name's Elaine. Nice to meet you, and you are?"
"I'm Kira. Sorry I came here a bit late, traffic." She gave a little laugh and I accepted it. We began to sit down on the kitchen table and got to know
each other as we kept talking, it seemed to be that she is also new, in my classes, and we could somehow relate with each other on our likes, dislikes,
choices, and other little things. Kira is one of those people who is an introvert at first, but when you get to talk to her more, she seems to be more
easygoing and very kind and friendly.
"Hmm, what to do, what to do." I say as I roam around in my small room after saying our goodnights to each other after our time talking. I decided to

else were to be only filled with other colours, mixed with plain such as brown and black.

"In one hour the guards will shift, and there will be a lull in the guard. At this time strike, hard fast and deadly. The humans are already
experimenting on them." I nodded and Mrs. Saren and Carl left. I nodded to Lydia and she lifted her spell. We split to our rooms to prepare. I

The Negative Effects Of Technology In Education
The popularity of technology is growing larger and faster than ever. The problem is, we may never be able to catch up to it. The young adolescent
adults seemed to be more interested in technology. Some experts claim that it does more harm than value. In terms of education, technology is
becoming more and more popular and used among many school districts, although this can come with complications and allows students to ease threw
assignments without having to fix their own problems. Also, technology can affect teenagers social abilities and let strangers have access to personal
information.
Education has found its way into the loop of technology. Teachers are using ipads and laptops during class time to help conduct experiments, or share
a presentation. This is allowing the students to gain instant access to the information they are seeking. Students also receive the opportunity to
complete their homework online and print off their assignments instead of just using paper and pencil. Another pro for Technology in Education,
there are countless sources out there which help enhance learning. In one research conducted, they compared the performance of teaching kids how
to read a clock. One group was coached by an online app, another was shown by a toy clock, and the last group was trained by a drawing example.
The results revealed that the children that were taught by the toy and app exceeded the paper drawing group (Galetzka).
However, some would say that within education, the use of technology can influence students to cheat or take the easy way out on their assignments.
"Students today can easily access essays, reports, class notes, tests, etc. online, making it that much more difficult for teachers to know if the work
their students hand in is original" (Ronan). This dilemma interferes with teenagers processing new information. The Internet is a great tool; however,
teens may rely too heavily on it, and worse, believe everything they see. I believe that the internet can be a great source to gain more knowledge,
however, one needs to acknowledge how to effectively use this tool to benefit them. Next, technology helps us complete tedious tasks. For example,
you are writing an essay and you are not an

hates being prejudged but accepts too easily nothing he can do will change how others think of him, so why try right? It's not surprising this is the
reason why he doesn't get along with most people or why he can strongly come off like an ass even when he doesn't mean for it. If somehow his

Academic Roles And Academic Leadership
Introduction Many academic advisers sit on the margins within the academy due to the professionalization, casualization and discursive complexity of
the academic language and learning workforce (Percy, 2011; Stevenson & Kokkinn, 2007). Moreover, academic advisers are also responsible in
providing effective feedback and support to all students internal and external to the university; some considering feedback being the most important
aspect of the assessment practices (Price, Handley, Millar, & O 'Donovan, 2010). Nevertheless, advisers in drop–in centres across Australia are time
restrained and are limited to the amount of editing and proofreading they are willing, or able to do. Moreover, EFL/ESL students are in dire need of
greater grammatical, editing and proofreading support and service from the university. Above and beyond the student and the adviser, tutors further
exacerbate the situation by providing feedback to the student as a product rather than a long term process (Price, Handley, & Millar, 2011). One of
the strategies to deal with this issue is to reconceptualise the objective and role of feedback from advisers and tutors, and to develop more holistic
self–directed and university driven feedback approaches (Merry, Price, Carless, & Taras, 2013, p. 41). One method to reconceptualise this is the
implementation of either a learning centre specific, or institutionally wide grammar checking program. With the developments of artificial intelligence,

I was a little nervous about not only trying to perform the Stunning Spell, but also having this spell cast upon me, due to the fact that it renders it's

Once my partner was ready and stood surrounded by cushions, I raised my wand and brought it back down in a quick slashing motion, "Stupefy!". As
a flash of blue light left my wand towards my partner, she immediately fell backwards onto the cushions. I found it quite difficult to focus on making
the spell effective as I did not want to cause her any permanent harm, however, I found that just thinking about her becoming still was enough to get the
spell to work this time, although I know that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I barely thought about how it would affect him before his arms and legs immediately snapped to his sides and he fell face–first into the pile of
cushions. I must admit that I did laugh a little when I saw the look of frustration in his eyes.
Part Two (209 words):
Now we moved onto practicing the counters. Seeing as we had all tried the spells, we decided it was only fair that we all practiced the counters as well.
First, one of my partners performed the Stunning Spell to our other partner and allowed me to practice the counter. Once our partner was on the
ground, I pointed my wand straight at her chest and said "Rennervate". As the bright red light shot from my wand, I kept focusing on her waking up
and sitting up. After a few seconds she did just that, which I was thankful for as my focus was starting to waver a little.
When it came to the Full Body Bind Curse Counter, I volunteered to be the one that needed it. I tried to fight the curse as it hit me, but there was no
way to and I was on the floor in seconds. Laying there I heard one of my partners say "Petrificus Removere" and I could see his wand move in a
clockwise motion before the golden mist started to wrap itself around me. I could feel my muscles start to relax from my toes upwards through my
whole body until I was eventually able to move and sit up.

Dragonet's Story: The Castle Of Dresenalt

surrounded the castle, moreover loved deeply by the king and queen as if she was theirs, and betrothed to their son Airamon and a joy to the whole

The old woman said in an outrage. "No!" The sorcerers answer her in a trembling voice. "This child serves no purpose, useless to us, make her into a
slave, for the animal Beast; get her out of here medially. We have disgustingly, mollycoddled her long enough under false pretense. She is not thedragon
child as foretold." The old woman entered the sorceries spell chamber; first–time Dragonet had laid eyes on her. She was very old, her eyes floated in
their sockets. The white of her eyes were coal black, hands wrinkled and bone, fingernails long and curved like bird claws. Dragonet was at the spell
book pretending, she was the sorcerer. The old woman slapped her, knocking her down onto the cold stone floor.
"Get out of here this instant; I cannot swallow the sight of you any longer." The old woman was out of control and shook with fury. The sorcerer,
standing next to the old woman's side, pointed at her, "Leave and go to your chambers and do not to leave them." A couple of hours had passed; her
tears could not flow any longer. She lay on her bed, rolled up in a ball, silent as the cold stone walls that surround her. Her door opened, and the
sorcerer and his general, stood there, just stared at her. The general grabbed her, yanking her to her

Ebon: A Fictional Narrative
Ebon continued to mutter every healing spell he knew. First, one to stop the bleeding. Then, he had to cleanse the wound. Finally, he had to close it.
The process was painfully long. Eldon used tell him that life was not supposed to be tampered with. Even saving it was difficult. Still, Ebon had no
one else except Ilene. She had to make it.
After about ten minutes, the wounds were cleaned and beginning to close. Ilene began to wake up. She coughed and leaned forward.
"Wha... What happened?"
Ebon gently pushed her back down. "Rest." He said. "I'll explain it all later."
She leaned back and closed her eyes. She remained still for most of the time except for the occasional grimace when the pain spiked.
Ebon smiled as the wound began to close between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He drew his sword and faced the hunter. Even in the moonlight, he could tell by the emblem on the hunter's cloak that he was a Reaper Wolf. How
did the Reaper Wolves find us? Ebon thought. He had killed all of the party that had attacked him. The felt the familiar hurt as the memory stirred.
He shook himself. No time for that now. The Reaper Wolf charged forward. His two daggers gleamed in the moonlight. His hood shaded his face.
His red cloak flapped behind him as he rushed forward. Ebon raised his sword to block the oncoming daggers. He caught one with his blade and
quickly spun to avoid the other. However, he was too slow. The second blade caught him on his side. He felt a horrible stinging sensation as it tore
through his flesh. "AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!" he screamed. He staggered back. The hunter was preparing for another strike. He formed the
buckler of light and scolded himself for not doing it before. This time, he caught both of the blades. He leapt backward and slashed his sword upward.
The hunter flipped backward to avoid the blow. Ebon prepared himself for another strike, then toppled onto the ground as pain knifed through his side

Hayden's Story Essay: The Tragic Death Of Hayden
Do you ever wake up feeling that your life couldn't get any worse? That is how Hayden felt almost every day. Ever since she was one year old
Hayden has lived in the crowded and loud city of New York, New York. That was until her mother had a severe heart attack, and passed away one
day after Hayden's 11th birthday. One month after the tragic death of Hayden's mom, Hayden's dad moved them to California. After the moving
trucks dropped off all of their furniture, Hayden went to explore the beach. When Hayden first got to the beach, she was thrilled to feel the cold
ocean waves crash upon her legs. The water was as clear as glass, and as the waves crashed upon the shore, they looked as white as the clouds above.
After thirty minutes, Hayden decided to cruise on home. For dinner that night, they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This beach didn't have much sand, and the sun wasn't shining vibrantly. As she looked around, she spotted a super familiar landmark, the Statue
of Liberty. Could it be that she was back in New York, New York? The thought of her being in California earlier this morning was puzzling to think
about, because California is on the other side of the country. Then she realized, she had made a wish. Therefore many questions swirled around her
head, like is her mom really back, and are they living in New York again? Hayden pushed herself up from the sand and before she could even
process her feelings, her legs were speeding across the city to the apartment, where they once lived before. Once she got close to their old apartment,
the thought of her family not being there was startling to scare her. With this fear in the way, she wasn't sure if she should open the door. Suddenly, a
glance of faith pushed her to open the old rusted door. As the door opened the screeching sound the rusted hinges sent chills to Hayden's spine. She
closed her eyes, and was terrified to open

Twinkle, Who Had Been Napping In Front Of A Blazing Fire,...

  • 1. Twinkle, who had been napping in front of a blazing fire,... Twinkle, who had been napping in front of a blazing fire, woke with a start. "What's that swishing sound?" she asked Charlie, who had been sleeping on the back of her old ratty armchair. Charlie yawned and rubbed his eyes with his tiny paws. "I slept so well," he moaned. "You always sleep well, Charlie," Twinkle said. Whoosh. Whoosh. What a strange noise, Twinkle thought. Whoosh. Whoosh. "What is that?" she asked again. "It's Swifty, the swallow," Alfie croaked from the top of the bookshelf. And really, when Twinkle looked towards the window, she could see Swifty dashing past the house. He was shouting something, but Twinkle couldn't hear what he said. She threw her comfy quilt on the floor, struggled up, stepped over Hugo,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Twinkle had been living a peaceful life with her friends, the animals, for many years, but she always feared, things might change some day. She knew it was only a matter of time and her big sister Storm would find her. Maybe Storm didn't know yet where Twinkle lived, but Twinkle assumed she was on her way. Why else would she leave the beautiful island in the sea and their family home? "Did you make sure she didn't follow you when you flew back?" she asked Swifty. "Yes, I did. She left a few days before I arrived. If my calculations are correct, and she has found out where you live, she could turn up any day." How awful, Twinkle thought. "We have to go to the village tomorrow, to buy food," she said. "It will be a perfect opportunity to find out if she's sneaking around. Until then I will renew the protective spell around the clearing. She may very well find the forest, but she will have a hard time to find the house." It was early in the morning and Twinkle, Alfie, and Charlie were getting ready for their trip to the village. Alfie had cleaned his feathers until they were nice and glossy. Twinkle had brushed Charlie's fur with her own comb and he looked as if he'd taken a bath. She had much less luck with her own hair and, in the end, decided to use some of the lovely smelling hair gel she only used on special occasions. It was warm outside; she didn't need a coat. She was wearing a pair of purple jeans, a bright green pullover, and her favorite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He stood aghast at what he saw. The two Dark Wizards that had killed Eldon were fighting each other! The boy had drawn his sword and was hurling spheres of green light at the girl. The girl tried hard to deflect all of them with her sword. Dark Wizards could not do shield spells. The boy grabbed his sword with his other hand and pulled it apart. It split into two swords! His voice roared like thunder. "You are a disgrace to the Dark Wizards! You are a disgrace to me!" The boy continued to yell a spell that Ebon had never heard before. Ebon could see that the girl was beginning to lose the battle. He watched her swing her sword in vain. She kept stumbling back. Finally, she tripped and fell over. I Think we should get rid of flip, because if we kept flip we would have to raise the taxes, kids need to learn how to research with a book when they need it, they need to get used to using pencil and paper more than typing, and it will increase the chances of cyber bullying. Taxes these days are high enough, and raising the taxes even more will not help at all. The more the taxes we have to pay the slower the economy moves and the higher unemployment. Besides, our tax system grows too progressively already! The buzz and chirp of insects were a familiar background concerto for Princess Eclipsa Butterfly as she ambled through the woods. Her legs and feet were covered by ebony trousers and hiking boots that aided her in evading the spiky trunks of trees. Her dark purple blouse with its long sleeves and high neckline shielded her from the forest's nightly, cooler air. For being twelve years old, she thought she knew her way around this forest quite well without the use of the magical, yet safer, pathways her fellow Mewmans relied upon. Thinking about how long I've been sneaking out to play here, that comes as no surprise. She thought, feeling a swell of pride at her own resourcefulness and intimate knowledge of the woodland. Eclipsa paused in her walk to look up at a group of bleeding willow trees, keeping the hood of her black cloak in place on her head, which helped her blend into her surroundings. The snowy–white, spiky trunks of the trees stood firm even in the greatest challenges. There were some with thick branches that grew upward as if reaching for the sky with their enflamed leaves. Others possessed skeleton thin branches that were flexible and strong, bending without breaking as they hung down in blood red clusters. Some believe it all started when John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, had his email account hacked. Tons of emails were leaked and made public. But I know better – and so does Uncle Van, if he is still alive. It occured late at night. Not a particularly blustery, terrifying, or paralyzing night. On the contrary, it was rather ordinary, with a light dusting of snow on the pavement. After a round of holiday excursions, an uneventful evening with just the family (such as it was) was quite welcome, though others might have called it depressing. We were all gathered around the fire, on the last night of the old year. Julie, the veritable pride and joy of the family, was there, and so were my father and mother, little Ross, and a small army of aunts, uncles, and cousins. And then of course, there was Uncle Van. Uncle Van was semi –legendary in the family. Nobody knew much about him. Why he had shown up at all was a mystery in itself. He looked quite young, but he was old. No one knew how old. His hair was graying only at the edges, and he step was brisk and lively. His age was only betrayed in his old, old, eyes. Uncle Van possessed a certain genius for storytelling. I confess that I had spent many of the previous weeks making eyes at Julie, who had come to stay for the holidays. This is another technique to help you to read every sentence carefully. Simply press the return key after every period so that every line begins a new sentence. Then read each sentence separately, looking for grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors. If you're working with a printed copy, try using an opaque object like a ruler or a piece of paper to isolate the line you're working on. п‚· Circle every punctuation mark. This forces you to look at each one. As you circle, ask yourself if the punctuation is correct. п‚· Read the paper backwards. This technique is helpful for checking spelling. Start with the last word on the last page and work your way back to the beginning, reading each word separately. Because content, punctuation, and grammar won't make any sense, your focus will be entirely on the spelling of each word. You can also read backwards sentence by sentence to check grammar; this will help you avoid becoming distracted by content issues. п‚· Proofreading is a learning process. • 24. My First Ever Defence Against The Dark Arts Lesson Lesson 1: Introduction Yesterday was my first ever Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson! I can tell it's going to be my favourite subject, well, maybe joint favourite along with Charms. We met our Professor, Melanie Silvers, who seems absolutely lovely. I've heard stories about how lots of professors in the past, before the Second Wizarding War, ended up having to leave after only one year, so I hope that doesn't happen to Professor Silvers. We received our syllabus, which looks so exciting! So many different spells and creatures to look at each week! We learned two incantations yesterday; theWand–Lighting Charm and the Wand–Extinguishing Charm, and I have been practising them both in my spare time. The Wand–Lighting Charm, Lumos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After another few attempts, the light was significantly more yellow in colour, and I felt very pleased with this outcome. The Wand–Extinguishing Charm, Nox, is a lot easier to use. At first, it took me a few attempts to get it right, but I can successfully use it each time I require the effects of Lumos to be removed. It feels really exciting to be using a spell that simple requires a flick of the wrist and a short word! Lesson 2: Bright Lights and a Little Softener A few days ago we learned about Verdimillious and Spongify. I have since had the chance to try out both of them! On Monday evening, I was running through the grounds to get back into the Castle before dark, when I tripped on a tree root and fell over. I think I was unconscious for some time and when I awoke it was quite dark. I tried to move, but I had broken my ankle. I needed to find a way of alerting someone to where I was. My muggle grandfather had taught me Morse code when I was younger, so I thought I might be able to use it with Lumos to attract attention. My head hurt and I wasn't able to concentrate properly, so after saying "Lumos!" I could only see a faint white light that wouldn't really attract any attention at all. I realise now that I had forgotten to think about charging the spell properly! I took a few moments to rest. I thought about Verdimillious too. I had picked it up pretty easily over the last

This digital age where communication is instant and knowledge is just a Google search away has mean that language has had to evolve and change with the times. The digitalisation of books in inventions such as an e–book reader, the rise of new technologies such as mobile phones with their use of emoticons, the use of the internet in the development of the English language through communication on social media, and the use of spell–checker to help with writing assignments and typing up stories as well as a potential tool to save lives through prevention are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abbreviations, acronyms and emoticons have all been put into use through billions of text messages. The one hundred and sixty character limit has meant that proper spelling and grammar has to give way to a more practical form of communicating. Daily Mail columnist John Humphrys in his article 'I H8 txt messages: How English is ruing our language' thinks that people who text are doing what 'Genghis Khan did to his neighbours eight hundred years ago.' (Humphrys 2007). However, as author Henry Hitchings in his book A History of Proper English (Hitchings 2011) points out the comparison '...is not the same in fact or in spirit....' (Hitchings 2011 p 296) as people who text know the difference between writing for schoolwork and writing for their friends (p. 296). Although mobile messaging may be crude compared to the more civilised form of English, it still has some benefits. For example the asterisk symbol has been used as a way of correcting mistakes (Collister 2015). It is a way to 'avoid a conversational detour.' (Collister 2015). People can use the asterisk symbol instead of wasting precious time trying to fix their mistake. The asterisk symbol, adopted by the technologically minded (Collister 2015), is a great and quick way of fixing mistakes but still maintaining that flow of conversation. An emoticon can also help to '...add meaning to a message or express meaning all on their own.' (Collister 2015). People can use emoticons to express a range of emotions from happiness to anger and people will be able to understand what they mean. The invention of mobile phones, through the use of symbols and emoticons to express emotions or fix mistakes, have helped language to evolve, and thereby improving writing and reading skills through the promotion of flexibility, by ensuring that not all communications is just through ... As a result of the heavy social media usage among the upcoming generation combined with the fact that large quantities of people gather their information from these social media sites, it is imperative that the issue of fake news is addressed. The social media platform is the ideal breeding grounds for fake news since information can be spread with the click of a button with little to no fact checking. The reader must remember that fake news exists solely to provoke a response and if the material seems outlandish or impractical, then it probably is. One way to address the growing problem is to question what we read. We should get in the habit of comparing the information provided to other sources to see if the facts line up. • 33. The Negative Effects Of Technology In Education The popularity of technology is growing larger and faster than ever. The problem is, we may never be able to catch up to it. The young adolescent adults seemed to be more interested in technology. Some experts claim that it does more harm than value. In terms of education, technology is becoming more and more popular and used among many school districts, although this can come with complications and allows students to ease threw assignments without having to fix their own problems. Also, technology can affect teenagers social abilities and let strangers have access to personal information. Education has found its way into the loop of technology. Teachers are using ipads and laptops during class time to help conduct experiments, or share a presentation. This is allowing the students to gain instant access to the information they are seeking. Students also receive the opportunity to complete their homework online and print off their assignments instead of just using paper and pencil. Another pro for Technology in Education, there are countless sources out there which help enhance learning. In one research conducted, they compared the performance of teaching kids how to read a clock. "Students today can easily access essays, reports, class notes, tests, etc. online, making it that much more difficult for teachers to know if the work their students hand in is original" (Ronan). This dilemma interferes with teenagers processing new information. The Internet is a great tool; however, teens may rely too heavily on it, and worse, believe everything they see. I believe that the internet can be a great source to gain more knowledge, however, one needs to acknowledge how to effectively use this tool to benefit them. • 38. Academic Roles And Academic Leadership Introduction Many academic advisers sit on the margins within the academy due to the professionalization, casualization and discursive complexity of the academic language and learning workforce (Percy, 2011; Stevenson & Kokkinn, 2007). Moreover, academic advisers are also responsible in providing effective feedback and support to all students internal and external to the university; some considering feedback being the most important aspect of the assessment practices (Price, Handley, Millar, & O 'Donovan, 2010). Nevertheless, advisers in drop–in centres across Australia are time restrained and are limited to the amount of editing and proofreading they are willing, or able to do. Moreover, EFL/ESL students are in dire need of greater grammatical, editing and proofreading support and service from the university. Above and beyond the student and the adviser, tutors further exacerbate the situation by providing feedback to the student as a product rather than a long term process (Price, Handley, & Millar, 2011). One of the strategies to deal with this issue is to reconceptualise the objective and role of feedback from advisers and tutors, and to develop more holistic self–directed and university driven feedback approaches (Merry, Price, Carless, & Taras, 2013, p. 41). One method to reconceptualise this is the implementation of either a learning centre specific, or institutionally wide grammar checking program.
