Mini-Class Report
This mini–class is going to expand a little on what you learned about floats in the RPGDU class and
will be introducing more CSS transitions for you to use in your coding. In the last few classes you
have been learning about absolute and relative positioning and while this is very useful, it means
that elements basically ignore one another within their own structure. To have elements that are
aware of each other, you need to learn to float them. Floating was covered on page 6 of the main
class notes and while the concept is simple, learning to use it to your advantage is less so. While
theory is good, learning how the interactions function on a practical basis is better so the project for
this mini–class will give you an opportunity to practice. This class is also going to expand briefly on
other pseudo–classes and elements and introduce the other things you can do to elements including
filter, transform and translate them. We are also going to touch on browser compatibility. ... Show

You are going to create a four–pane shipper template. Step one: Decide is if you want a grid, a
horizontal line, or a vertical line of four. You are welcome to choose whatever you are most
comfortable with. Once you know, create a parent element with your 4 child elements FLOATED
within. Step two a: If you are confident in your abilities and you want to create an image with text
on hover, you are welcome to do that. Add images elements to the four child elements and then
separate elements that fade in on hover. (See Mini–class four for transition timing). Step two b: If
you are not sure you could get that right, then make all four child elements overflow: auto, add a
small image strip at the top, and then text beneath it. Step three: Add either the ::first–letter or

Mobile Technology is getting advanced day by day and so are their applications. With the increase
in technology of mobile platform and their new applications, people are getting more diverge and
involved in it. Not only the normal person, developers of the mobile application are developing new
application and new version of older application which are compatible with today's new mobile
platforms. In today's era, everyone is carrying a mobile phone as one of the necessary thing. Social
networking websites like Facebook and Twitter have fascinated masses to update their day to day
activity. Mobile phones are satisfying the need of pocketbook and notecases for people. Media is

Understanding Apple – SWOT Analysis Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) now has the largest market cap
of any company. It zoomed past Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM) and never looked back. It is one of the
most popular and recognized brands worldwide, although it seems to draw as much hatred from
some as love from others. So let's take a look at the iconic brand here a bit removed from the daily

This allows for a level of integration that otherwise is not available. It also allows for greatly
simplified quality assurance testing. In the end, Apple has been able to deliver an overall much more
solid, robust experience to the end users. This is prized by users who do not want to spend time
fixing their computer. I used to say that the problem with Apple was that they did not have an open
system, and that the problem with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) is that they did. In smartphones &
tablets, Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) is following this path with Blackberry 10. 6 – One
less understood characteristic of Apple is the ability to wait. I think this is a lesson learned from the
Newton project – one of the original PDAs with handwriting input, it failed in part because it was
too far ahead of its time, That is, it was a great idea (as Palm was to prove), but the hardware
technology of the time was not up to the task. Apple can work on an idea for years, but wait for the
moment in time when it can introduce a new product with sufficient power and style to carry off the
new functionality in a form meets their standards. Thus, the iPhone waited for the development of
LTE chips that met Apples specifications, particularly in terms of power consumption. They would

Apple : A Long Relationship With Adobe
Apple has a long relationship with Adobe. In fact, we met Adobe's founders when they were in their
proverbial garage. Apple was their first big customer, adopting their Postscript language for our new
Laserwriter printer. Apple invested in Adobe and owned around 20% of the company for many
years. The two companies worked closely together to pioneer desktop publishing and there were
many good times. Since that golden era, the companies have grown apart. Apple went through its
near death experience, and Adobe was drawn to the corporate market with their Acrobat products.
Today the two companies still work together to serve their joint creative customers – Mac users buy
around half of Adobe's Creative Suite products – but beyond that there ... Show more content on

By almost any definition, Flash is a closed system.
Apple has many proprietary products too. Though the operating system for the iPhone, iPod and
iPad is proprietary, we strongly believe that all standards pertaining to the web should be open.
Rather than use Flash, Apple has adopted HTML5, CSS and JavaScript – all open standards. Apple's
mobile devices all ship with high performance, low power implementations of these open standards.
HTML5, the new web standard that has been adopted by Apple, Google and many others, lets web
developers create advanced graphics, typography, animations and transitions without relying on
third party browser plug–ins (like Flash). HTML5 is completely open and controlled by a standards
committee, of which Apple is a member.
Apple even creates open standards for the web. For example, Apple began with a small open source
project and created WebKit, a complete open–source HTML5 rendering engine that is the heart of
the Safari web browser used in all our products. WebKit has been widely adopted. Google uses it for
Android's browser, Palm uses it, Nokia uses it, and RIM (Blackberry) has announced they will use it
too. Almost every smartphone web browser other than Microsoft's uses WebKit. By making its
WebKit technology open, Apple has set the standard for mobile web browsers.
Second, there's the "full web".
Adobe has repeatedly said that Apple mobile devices cannot access

Application And Web Application For Nutritionists And...
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction:
Android application and web application for nutritionists and dietitians is a project designed and
developed in a way that all the dietitians and nutritionists can use this application at their work as
they do it on a regular day to day basis because the design of the application is in such a way that we
have digitalized or changed their regular work flow process in to this application and this
application is not only supposed for the registered dietitians or nutritionists but can also be used by
the intern students who are taking the dietitians course.
1.2 Motivation:
The main motivation for the project comes from a lack of usage of mobile technology in the field of
dietetics and nutrition. The dietitians have a hard time in calculating the energy, fluid and protein
needs for their patients, all the dietitians use a book called "Pocket Resource for Nutrition
Assessment" which is published by Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dietitians use this pocket
resource for doing all the energy, fluid and protein calculations for their patients by hand and also
dietitians need to memorize all the formulas for the corresponding calculations to do it by hand. So
after a thorough research and a few meetings with Dr. Elaine Molaison, a Registered Dietitian and
professor in Department of Nutrition and Food Systems, The University of Southern Mississippi,
and some other professors and dietitians, we came up with an idea of creating a mobile

Differences Between Google Chrome and Internet Explorer...
Although Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are both web browsers that serve the same
fundamental purpose, there are certain key differences that attract users to one or the other.
The first and most obvious difference is the design of the actual browser. Google Chrome aims to be
more of a lightweight browser, so it features a limited set of options under its preferences, a larger
browser window, and the omnibar, which combines both the search functions and the web functions
into one. This allows Google Chrome to be very simplistic and efficient in browsing. Internet
explorer on the other hand does not have an omnibar, nor are the preferences as straightforward as
Google Chrome, but it does allow the user to modify and tweak many more ... Show more content

Another major difference is the development of the actual browser. Internet Explorer is developed
by Microsoft using a proprietary code, and as a result, any updates such as bug fixes, new features,
or small modifications that are made on IE have to be released by Microsoft. Google Chrome on the
other hand is a faster, open source browser that uses the open source WebKit code, and anyone who
is able to write code will be able to submit a modified build to a forum (www.chromium.org) that
Google monitors. Any new features that are built into the browser can then be selected by Google,
and placed into the newest version of Google Chrome. To many people this makes Google Chrome a
very desirable option because any bugs and additional features can be fixed or added on almost
immediately.
Although both browsers are constantly updated to deal with new security threats that are found on
the internet the security of both browsers still varies. Two of the standards used to measure the
security of the browsers include the Acid 3 test, and the ability of hackers to hack into computers
using the respective browser. Acid 3 measures the ability of the browser to render and utilise the
information presented on the web, so a rule of thumb, a higher Acid 3 score typically suggests a
better built browser that is able to handle security threats presented online. As of August 18, 2010,
the Acid 3 test of the latest stable release of Google Chrome is 100/100, whilst the score of Internet

Apple Cell Phones
The Major Event, IPhone Boom! And the Launch of Android In 2007, the remote business took a
dramatic turn. While aficionados and non–endeavor clients had discovered different uses for their
cell phones than email and work, the primary capacity of such gadgets was keeping representatives
inside of scope and joined far from the work area. Cell phones were principally utilized for
correspondence and light Web searching on the train. That was all set to change when Apple
declared the iPhone in January 2007 and propelled it months after the fact in June. Apple 's concept
of the cell phone joined intense sight and sound capacities with the same email and Web searching
components as all different cell phones already had. It had a huge shading showcase with a
capacitive digitizer, and its client interface was at long last finger–friendly. Furthermore, dissimilar
to telephones before it, the iPhone had one and only button all over – the Home button – and three
around its edges, two for volume up/down and one for force/standby. Apple 's versatile working
framework, iOS, was still exceptionally fundamental at the time, however it was the first look into
the new, cutting edge portable cell phone working frameworks we know and love to. This phone
release started a transformation of the perception of cellular and mobile communication, which is
maybe best outlined by a quote ascribed to Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., that " the phone was not
just a communication tool but a way of

The Unknown World of Web Design Essay
Hundreds of thousands of people surf the internet every day visiting web sites like Facebook and
Twitter. Though millions of web sites are all similar in a way, the average person overlooks the
similarities. They are oblivious to an entire language that is so complex that it can be used to create
the most beautiful and simple creations on the web. This language is used to create Facebook,
Twitter, Google, and even your everyday blog. In order to understand this language fully one must
spend countless hours behind a computer screen working through problems, going thought books, as

HTML was used to create web pages all over the internet making it into what it is today. It was not
long after HTML was created that it was questioned as to whether or not it was advanced enough to
keep up with the rapid advancement of the internet. This lead to closing the development on HTML
by the World Wide Web Consortium or W3C in 1998. After the closing of development on HTML in
1998 the W3C began to work on a new project to replace HTML known as extensible hypertext
markup language or XHTML. XHTML was used in the same way as HTML and was very similar.
XHTML was designed to allow for more flexibility with design and lead the world into the 21
century with web design. All of the promises of XHTML were broken as the computer world put
down XHTML and refused to show support for the new computer language. XHTML was mostly
criticized for not being very forgivable in the way HTML was. If a couple lines were off in HTML
the web page would generate without the content associated with the error or even figure out what
the programmer was trying to say. This allowed for programmers to see exactly what was wrong
without allowing for the average person to tell. XHTML was not forgivable and would not generate
any content if a single line was wrong. This frustrated programmers as it cost them countless hours
looking through lines and lines looking for that one error that was causing the whole page not to
load. Not only did XHTML make

The Birth of Android
1. INTRODUCTION
Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and
key applications. Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices based on
the Linux operating system and developed by Google and the Open Handset Alliance. It allows
developers to write managed code in a Java–like language that utilizes Google–developed Java
libraries, but does not support programs developed in native code.
The unveiling of the Android platform on 5 November 2007 was announced with the founding of
the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of 34 hardware, software and telecom companies devoted
to advancing open standards for mobile devices. When released in 2008, most of the Android

Sketching and Prototyping: The Centrifugal and the...
In this essay, I shall explore how sketching and prototyping can help in designing an interactive
system intended to encourage people to take a walk. In the design process is important to get the
design right, and then get the right design (Buxton, 2007). While sketching help in aid to getting the
design right, supporting the creative design process and exploring different ideas, prototyping
supports choosing the right design, by testing how the product will look like, behave like, and work
like (Buchenau & Suri, 2000). Sketching can be compared to a centrifugal power that radiates from
the design problem, which allows exploring solutions to be explored. Whereas, prototyping is the
centripetal force, moving back to the main problem with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These wWicked problems need to be approached with creative design tools, such as sketching and
prototyping. This essay is structured in the following way: I start will begin by defining the design
problem; then I willshall illustrate sketching and prototyping techniques, what they are, how they
can be used to support the design of an interactive system, and their weakness and strengths. The
conclusion will highlights how sketching is still an irreplaceable tool for designers, while
prototyping helps in simulating reach experiences and technical feasibility. Before proceeding, it is
important to define the term designer: Designer is anyone who create sketching or prototyping in
order to design, regardless of their job. Designing an interactive system to encourage people to walk
requires defining the problem the system is trying to solve or improve. There are different
approaches that can be taken. to define the problem. One analytical approach is to outline the system
requirements that need to be fulfilled. In the same line Newman (1995) argues that the problem
should be described only by onein a single sentence, this helps to highlight the situation of concern
we need to addresssolve. Another approach is finding the users needs by creating personas,
scenarios and storyboards. Overall, to create a successful and innovative system is necessary to
develop different solutions, and then select one of the ideas. In

It has a zillion more uses now apart from basic ones, and that has contributed to the success of
making it not just a mobile phone but also a smartphone. Table of contents Chapter 1. Introduction
Background In the past it was never clear that the cell phone would have such an important status in
today's society. But the development of the cell phone into a smartphone proves this statement right.
This includes transformations, besides the normal functionalities of a phone like text messaging,
receiving and making calls. A smartphone's operating system reflects the users lifestyle because it
controls the choice of applications, the general features and functionality in a phone. However the
mobile market is fragmented amongst the following software platforms or operating systems;
WebOS, BlackBerry OS, Windows phone formerly known as (Windows Mobile OS), Android OS,
Meego OS, Bada OS, Symbian OS, iPhone OS, and Tizen OS. Due to the continues advancement in
the technology of a smartphone, each smartphone needs an operating system in order for it to reach
its full capacity in today's world, however a phone is not smart on till it is powered by an operating
system. i.e. phone manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, LG, SonyEricson etc. Play a role by
manufacturing a phone (hardware) with the demand and capability of running this software, which
is the OS inside. This simply means that the phone (hardware) is the infrastructure, while an

Future Implementations Of The Service
future implementations of the service instead coupling the service an an expected path URI scheme.
A disadvantage of query string style parameterization over path style is that the latter is more likely
to be cached by modern browsers. We provide a reference implementation
[14] of embedding the service in the OpenWayback interface12 (Figure 10), invoked by specifying
the access=wayback query parameter.
When a user queries the service, the URI parameter is used to build a request to the Internet Archive
(IA) using Memento. The service receives the response from
IA, adhering to the patterns described in the Memento
RFC [21], and proceeds to extract relevant information from the TimeMap to build the local
structures for client–side data management. From this list of URI–Ms, each is queried and when the
DOM is fully loaded, the
HTML is returned to the service for further analysis.
Complete loading of the target memento is necessary to allow any DOM modification by embedded
JavaScript script to be executed. From each memento's HTML, a SimHash value is created and a
Hamming distance calculation is performed with k = 4, as determined to be optimal by AlSum [2].
When the set of eligible mementos has been established, a template is returned to the client as a user
interface with placeholders for the screenshots to be generated asynchronously. From
12 https://github.com/iipc/openwayback those mementos that meet the threshold, a subsequent
request is sent to IA using PhantomJS13 (a

Summary In the first place, the purpose of this assignment is to introduce about what is Android

At Google, Rubin with his teammate developed a mobile device platform which powered by the
Linux kernel. Google marketed the platform to handset makers and carriers on the premise of
providing a flexible, upgradable system. Google had lined up a series of hardware component and
software partners and signaled to carriers that it was open to various degrees of cooperation on their
part. On December 2006, according to the reports from the BBC and The Wall Street Journal noted
that Google wanted its search and applications on mobile phones and they were working hard to
deliver that. Print and online media outlets soon reported rumours that Google was try to develop a
Google–branded handset and some deduced that as Google was defining technical specifications, it
was showing prototypes to cell phone manufacturers and network operators. Almost two and a half
years later, on November 5, 2007, Google took the mobile device world by storm again after the
Apple's iOS by announcing their new Linux–based mobile handset operating system named
Android. They not only introduce an entirely new mobile OS, but also announced that it was open–
source which can surpass the monopoly of Apple. This was a direct result of the collaborative efforts
of the newly formed Open Handset Alliance. In order to counter the tension from Apple, several
companies quitted out from Symbian or Windows and joined this alliance, such as Google,

Cell Phones Are Ordinary Today
Cell phones are ordinary today. Very nearly everybody has one. My grandma conveys an iPhone and
my dad – a man who once swore he 'd never convey a telephone with him anyplace – slaps a
Samsung Galaxy S III with an OtterBox case on his hip each morning. It wasn 't generally so. I was
the main individual at my secondary school – educators and organization included – with a cell
phone. To start with, I had the Moto Q, then the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, trailed by the Curve 8330.
Furthermore, that is the place my story started, in 2006, taking lesson notes (read: playing Brick
Breaker and Asteroids) on an incredible QWERTY console about a large portion of the palm 's
extent of my hand. Trust it or not, cell phone history backtracks over 10 years before that. Things
were ... intriguing in those days. In the first place, what is a cell phone? Turns out, the real
definition, regardless of the source, is very ambiguous. Merriam–Webster compactly calls a cell
phone "a PDA that incorporates extra programming capacities (as email or an Internet program)."
Oxford Dictionaries, then again, gets somewhat more exact by saying a cell phone "has the capacity
perform a hefty portion of the elements of a PC, commonly having a moderately expansive screen
and a working framework equipped for running universally useful applications." In any case, there
is an almost negligible difference between what is and isn 't a cell phone nowadays, regardless of the
fact that the purported "moronic" or

Is A Smartphone? A?
Today a smartphone is part of almost every person's life. It's used to assist us in just about anything,
whether we need directions, need to text a friend, or even buy a ticket to a movie or theme park we
can perform tasks like this in just a matter of minutes. So what is a smartphone? A smartphone is a
phone which includes a state–of–the–art mobile operating system that incorporates the features of a
personal computer operating system with other features useful for mobile or handheld use.
Typically, these features combine the usual use of a cell phone with those of other popular mobile
devices, such as personal digital assistant, media player and GPS navigation unit. Almost all
smartphones can access the Internet, have a touchscreen user ... Show more content on

This mobile phone was the first phone to incorporate PDA (personal digital assistant) features,
which was demonstrated that year at the COMDEX computer industry trade show. In addition to the
PDA features, the phone also included visionary apps such as maps, stocks and news. Soon after the
release of the prototype, a refined version was introduced to consumers, the Simon Personal
Communicator. The Simon Personal Communicator first revealed its face in 1992 and was the first
cellular device that can be properly referred to as a "smartphone" even though it was not called that
when it was initially released. Simon came with a monochrome touchscreen, a stylus, and a charging
base station. It went on sale in 1993 through BellSouth Cellular for an enormous price of $899 with
a two–year agreement or $1,099 without contract. IBM sold approximately 50,000 Simon units.
Nokia entered the not–yet–developed smartphone space in 1996. It released the Nokia 9000
Communicator to the market, a 1.5–inch thick, 14 ounce phone with an outward facing dial pad,
navigation keys, and monochromatic display. Unlike the Simon Personal Communicator, the 9000
Communicator looked almost like a run–of–the–mill cell phone from 1996. However, along the left
edge, was a hinge which opened to a full QWERTY keyboard and physical navigation buttons
neighboring a much larger display. The Nokia 9000 Communicator, like the Simon, was also not
called a "smartphone" even though it was capable of email, fax, Web

Mobile Phones : A Target For Hackers
Mobile phones play huge role in our lives as they help us get connected to each other all the time.
Since the last decade, Mobile phones continued to evolve into smartphones which can do much
more than calling and texting. Smartphones are nothing but computers with extra internal hardware
specifically a GSM radio (Global System for Mobile Communications) and a baseband processor
that controls the radio. Along with these primary hardware components, smartphones now comes
embedded with additional hardware such as NFC (Near Field Communications) and other sensors
which can make it far more useful than in general. This proliferation of smartphones has gotten the
concern of mobile security back into emphasis. Smartphones are swiftly becoming a ... Show more

In this project, I'll primarily discuss the networking protocol that is used in iOS called
AFNetworking (Flawed and security threat) and compare it with other protocols such as
ASIHTTPRequest, STHTTPRequest, NSUrlRequest. Apart from these protocols, I'll also provide
various security threats that affected iOS since its release and give the possible solutions.
Introduction Sales of smartphones and tablet devices are budding rapidly as they are becoming
omnipresent. This is because of both the hardware and software features present in these devices.
One of the main reasons of this popularity is the availability of the applications, ranging from high
definition games to the office applications. According to the survey conducted [5], there are around
800 million iOS users in the world and Apple has gained 130 million iOS users in the year 2014
alone and there are currently around 1.2 million applications in the Appstore [6]. Because of this
popularity and the growing number of iOS users in last four years, exploiting the iOS devices
became a thing for the hackers. Apple uses unconventional security architecture of iOS and has strict
regulations in the Appstore making it better than its competitors. Some of the security features used
in Apple iOS is ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization) which is a used for memory
protection in operating systems. It safeguards the memory against buffer overflow

Android : A Mobile Operating System Based On A Linux...
When Android was launched it was primarily a mobile operating system based on a Linux kernel
developed and backed financially by Google. The plainness of user interface played a momentous
role in spreading the use of Android. The end user could manipulate the on – screen objects by real –
world actions such as swiping, tapping, pinching and many other actions to make Android an
compliant platform. Its main use was seen mainly in smartphones. With the growth of time, Android
found its way in tablet computers, television, cars and wrists watch. These were some of the
characteristics that in my idea led to use of Android in gaming consoles, camera and other
electronics.
Smartphone users have a wish not just for games in broad, but for class games that provide them
entertainment. Games need to be build in a way that is well thought out and organized to provide the
user with the best talent possible. In order for all of these pieces to fit together, planning is necessary
in coming up with a game architecture that satisfies all of the requirements for a excellence game.
They also need to be original so as to offer a unique experience that stands out from the mass of
other applications pushed out into the Android market. In determining how the player, balloons,
opposing characters, and input all interact with one another, it is important to use a mean that is
simple, yet successful. That way, all of the pieces fit together nicely, making the code easier to read
and modify. It is

The Security Of Popular Password Managers
We study the security of popular password managers and their policies on automatically filling in
Web passwords. We examine browser built–in password managers, mobile password managers, and
3rd party managers. We observe significant differences in autofill policies among password
managers. Several autofill policies can lead to disastrous consequences where a remote network
attacker can extract multiple passwords from the user's password manager without any interaction
with the user. We experiment with these attacks and with techniques to enhance the security of
password managers. We show that our enhancements can be adopted by existing managers. 1

Our results. We study the security of password managers and propose ways to improve their
security. We begin with a survey of how ten popular password managers decide when to autofill
passwords. Different password managers employ very different autofill policies, exposing their
users to different risks. Next, we show that many corner cases in autofill policies can lead to
significant attacks that enable remote password extraction without the user's knowledge, simply by
having the user connect to a rogue router at a coffee shop. We believe that password managers can
help strengthen credential security rather than harm it. In Section 5 we propose ways to strengthen
password managers so that users who use them are more secure than users who type in passwords
manually. We implemented the modifications in the Chrome browser and report on their
effectiveness. We conclude with a discussion of related work on password managers. An example.
We give many examples of password extraction in the paper, but as a warm–up we present one
example here. Consider web sites that serve a login page over HTTP, but submit the user's password
over HTTPS (a setup intended to prevent an eavesdropper from reading the password but actually
leaves the site vulnerable). As we show in Section 4, about 17% of the Alexa Top 500 websites

The Core Of Android Architecture
It is the core of Android architecture that forms the foundation of Android. Linux kernel includes
hardware drivers, power management, memory management, process management and binder
driver, which provides all the fundamental services needed by the system. Although it is called
Linux kernel, it is not a standard Linux kernel; Google has customized it for Android devices. The
main difference between them is the binder driver, which is an Android–specific inter–process
communication mechanism that enables one Android process to call a procedure in another Android
process. Another major difference is the ashmem module, which is an Android version of shared
memory allocator, similar to Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) shm but with a simpler
file–based API. And also the Power Manager has been enhanced to save battery, which is critical for
smartphones.
Libraries
On top of Linux kernel are Libraries, which provide services written in native language like C and
C++. It contains a long list of middle wares that include SQLite, WebKit, SSL, Media, C runtime
library. SQLite is responsible for database, WebKit is for browser support, SSL is used to secure
network transmissions.
Android Runtime
This layer contains core libraries and Dalvik Virtual Machine (DVM), which are needed to run
Android applications. DVM is the Android implementation of Java Virtual Machine (JVM), which
optimized for mobile apps for less memory consumption and better performance. DVM was

Steve Jobs

We also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash. We have been working
with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. We don't want to
reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash.
In addition, Flash has not performed well on mobile devices. We have routinely asked Adobe to
show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We
have never seen it. Adobe publicly said that Flash would ship on a smartphone in early 2009, then
the second half of 2009, then the first half of 2010, and now they say the second half of 2010. We
think it will eventually ship, but we're glad we didn't hold our breath. Who knows how it will
perform?
Fourth, there's battery life.
To achieve long battery life when playing video, mobile devices must decode the video in hardware;
decoding it in software uses too much power. Many of the chips used in modern mobile devices
contain a decoder called H.264 – an industry standard that is used in every Blu–ray DVD player and
has been adopted by Apple, Google (YouTube), Vimeo, Netflix and many other companies.
Although Flash has recently added support for H.264, the video on almost all Flash websites
currently requires an older generation decoder that is not implemented in mobile chips and must be
run in software. The difference is striking: on an iPhone, for example, H.264

Mini-Class Report

  • 1. Mini-Class Report This mini–class is going to expand a little on what you learned about floats in the RPGDU class and will be introducing more CSS transitions for you to use in your coding. In the last few classes you have been learning about absolute and relative positioning and while this is very useful, it means that elements basically ignore one another within their own structure. To have elements that are aware of each other, you need to learn to float them. Floating was covered on page 6 of the main class notes and while the concept is simple, learning to use it to your advantage is less so. While theory is good, learning how the interactions function on a practical basis is better so the project for this mini–class will give you an opportunity to practice. This class is also going to expand briefly on other pseudo–classes and elements and introduce the other things you can do to elements including filter, transform and translate them. We are also going to touch on browser compatibility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You are going to create a four–pane shipper template. Step one: Decide is if you want a grid, a horizontal line, or a vertical line of four. You are welcome to choose whatever you are most comfortable with. Once you know, create a parent element with your 4 child elements FLOATED within. Step two a: If you are confident in your abilities and you want to create an image with text on hover, you are welcome to do that. Add images elements to the four child elements and then separate elements that fade in on hover. (See Mini–class four for transition timing). Step two b: If you are not sure you could get that right, then make all four child elements overflow: auto, add a small image strip at the top, and then text beneath it. Swot of Apple Understanding Apple – SWOT Analysis By Malcolm Manness – November 27, 2012| Tickers: AAPL, XOM, GOOG| 4 Comments Share on emailEmail Share on google_plusonePrint Malcolm is a member of The Motley Fool Blog Network –– entries represent the personal opinions of our bloggers and are not formally edited. Understanding Apple – SWOT Analysis Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) now has the largest market cap of any company. It zoomed past Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM) and never looked back. It is one of the most popular and recognized brands worldwide, although it seems to draw as much hatred from some as love from others. So let's take a look at the iconic brand here a bit removed from the daily headlines. I. – Strengths 1– ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This allows for a level of integration that otherwise is not available. It also allows for greatly simplified quality assurance testing. In the end, Apple has been able to deliver an overall much more solid, robust experience to the end users. This is prized by users who do not want to spend time fixing their computer. I used to say that the problem with Apple was that they did not have an open system, and that the problem with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) is that they did. In smartphones & tablets, Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) is following this path with Blackberry 10. 6 – One less understood characteristic of Apple is the ability to wait. I think this is a lesson learned from the Newton project – one of the original PDAs with handwriting input, it failed in part because it was too far ahead of its time, That is, it was a great idea (as Palm was to prove), but the hardware technology of the time was not up to the task. Apple can work on an idea for years, but wait for the moment in time when it can introduce a new product with sufficient power and style to carry off the new functionality in a form meets their standards. Thus, the iPhone waited for the development of LTE chips that met Apples specifications, particularly in terms of power consumption. They would wait and be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Apple : A Long Relationship With Adobe Apple has a long relationship with Adobe. In fact, we met Adobe's founders when they were in their proverbial garage. Apple was their first big customer, adopting their Postscript language for our new Laserwriter printer. Apple invested in Adobe and owned around 20% of the company for many years. The two companies worked closely together to pioneer desktop publishing and there were many good times. Since that golden era, the companies have grown apart. Apple went through its near death experience, and Adobe was drawn to the corporate market with their Acrobat products. Today the two companies still work together to serve their joint creative customers – Mac users buy around half of Adobe's Creative Suite products – but beyond that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By almost any definition, Flash is a closed system. Apple has many proprietary products too. Though the operating system for the iPhone, iPod and iPad is proprietary, we strongly believe that all standards pertaining to the web should be open. Rather than use Flash, Apple has adopted HTML5, CSS and JavaScript – all open standards. Apple's mobile devices all ship with high performance, low power implementations of these open standards. HTML5, the new web standard that has been adopted by Apple, Google and many others, lets web developers create advanced graphics, typography, animations and transitions without relying on third party browser plug–ins (like Flash). HTML5 is completely open and controlled by a standards committee, of which Apple is a member. Apple even creates open standards for the web. For example, Apple began with a small open source project and created WebKit, a complete open–source HTML5 rendering engine that is the heart of the Safari web browser used in all our products. WebKit has been widely adopted. Google uses it for Android's browser, Palm uses it, Nokia uses it, and RIM (Blackberry) has announced they will use it too. Almost every smartphone web browser other than Microsoft's uses WebKit. By making its WebKit technology open, Apple has set the standard for mobile web browsers. Second, there's the "full web". INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction: Android application and web application for nutritionists and dietitians is a project designed and developed in a way that all the dietitians and nutritionists can use this application at their work as they do it on a regular day to day basis because the design of the application is in such a way that we have digitalized or changed their regular work flow process in to this application and this application is not only supposed for the registered dietitians or nutritionists but can also be used by the intern students who are taking the dietitians course. 1.2 Motivation: The main motivation for the project comes from a lack of usage of mobile technology in the field of dietetics and nutrition. The dietitians have a hard time in calculating the energy, fluid and protein needs for their patients, all the dietitians use a book called "Pocket Resource for Nutrition Assessment" which is published by Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dietitians use this pocket resource for doing all the energy, fluid and protein calculations for their patients by hand and also dietitians need to memorize all the formulas for the corresponding calculations to do it by hand. So after a thorough research and a few meetings with Dr. Elaine Molaison, a Registered Dietitian and professor in Department of Nutrition and Food Systems, The University of Southern Mississippi, and some other professors and dietitians, we came up with an idea of creating a mobile ... • 20. Differences Between Google Chrome and Internet Explorer... Although Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are both web browsers that serve the same fundamental purpose, there are certain key differences that attract users to one or the other. The first and most obvious difference is the design of the actual browser. Google Chrome aims to be more of a lightweight browser, so it features a limited set of options under its preferences, a larger browser window, and the omnibar, which combines both the search functions and the web functions into one. This allows Google Chrome to be very simplistic and efficient in browsing. Internet explorer on the other hand does not have an omnibar, nor are the preferences as straightforward as Google Chrome, but it does allow the user to modify and tweak many more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major difference is the development of the actual browser. Internet Explorer is developed by Microsoft using a proprietary code, and as a result, any updates such as bug fixes, new features, or small modifications that are made on IE have to be released by Microsoft. Google Chrome on the other hand is a faster, open source browser that uses the open source WebKit code, and anyone who is able to write code will be able to submit a modified build to a forum (www.chromium.org) that Google monitors. Any new features that are built into the browser can then be selected by Google, and placed into the newest version of Google Chrome. To many people this makes Google Chrome a very desirable option because any bugs and additional features can be fixed or added on almost immediately. Although both browsers are constantly updated to deal with new security threats that are found on the internet the security of both browsers still varies. Two of the standards used to measure the security of the browsers include the Acid 3 test, and the ability of hackers to hack into computers using the respective browser. Acid 3 measures the ability of the browser to render and utilise the information presented on the web, so a rule of thumb, a higher Acid 3 score typically suggests a better built browser that is able to handle security threats presented online. As of August 18, 2010, the Acid 3 test of the latest stable release of Google Chrome is 100/100, whilst the score of Internet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Apple Cell Phones The Major Event, IPhone Boom! And the Launch of Android In 2007, the remote business took a dramatic turn. While aficionados and non–endeavor clients had discovered different uses for their cell phones than email and work, the primary capacity of such gadgets was keeping representatives inside of scope and joined far from the work area. Cell phones were principally utilized for correspondence and light Web searching on the train. That was all set to change when Apple declared the iPhone in January 2007 and propelled it months after the fact in June. Apple 's concept of the cell phone joined intense sight and sound capacities with the same email and Web searching components as all different cell phones already had. It had a huge shading showcase with a capacitive digitizer, and its client interface was at long last finger–friendly. Furthermore, dissimilar to telephones before it, the iPhone had one and only button all over – the Home button – and three around its edges, two for volume up/down and one for force/standby. Apple 's versatile working framework, iOS, was still exceptionally fundamental at the time, however it was the first look into the new, cutting edge portable cell phone working frameworks we know and love to. This phone release started a transformation of the perception of cellular and mobile communication, which is maybe best outlined by a quote ascribed to Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., that " the phone was not just a communication tool but a way of ... Though millions of web sites are all similar in a way, the average person overlooks the similarities. They are oblivious to an entire language that is so complex that it can be used to create the most beautiful and simple creations on the web. This language is used to create Facebook, Twitter, Google, and even your everyday blog. HTML was used to create web pages all over the internet making it into what it is today. It was not long after HTML was created that it was questioned as to whether or not it was advanced enough to keep up with the rapid advancement of the internet. This lead to closing the development on HTML by the World Wide Web Consortium or W3C in 1998. After the closing of development on HTML in 1998 the W3C began to work on a new project to replace HTML known as extensible hypertext markup language or XHTML. XHTML was used in the same way as HTML and was very similar. XHTML was designed to allow for more flexibility with design and lead the world into the 21 century with web design. All of the promises of XHTML were broken as the computer world put down XHTML and refused to show support for the new computer language. XHTML was mostly criticized for not being very forgivable in the way HTML was. If a couple lines were off in HTML the web page would generate without the content associated with the error or even figure out what the programmer was trying to say. This allowed for programmers to see exactly what was wrong without allowing for the average person to tell. XHTML was not forgivable and would not generate any content if a single line was wrong. This frustrated programmers as it cost them countless hours looking through lines and lines looking for that one error that was causing the whole page not to load. Not only did XHTML make ... • 34. Sketching and Prototyping: The Centrifugal and the... In this essay, I shall explore how sketching and prototyping can help in designing an interactive system intended to encourage people to take a walk. In the design process is important to get the design right, and then get the right design (Buxton, 2007). While sketching help in aid to getting the design right, supporting the creative design process and exploring different ideas, prototyping supports choosing the right design, by testing how the product will look like, behave like, and work like (Buchenau & Suri, 2000). Sketching can be compared to a centrifugal power that radiates from the design problem, which allows exploring solutions to be explored. Whereas, prototyping is the centripetal force, moving back to the main problem with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These wWicked problems need to be approached with creative design tools, such as sketching and prototyping. This essay is structured in the following way: I start will begin by defining the design problem; then I willshall illustrate sketching and prototyping techniques, what they are, how they can be used to support the design of an interactive system, and their weakness and strengths. The conclusion will highlights how sketching is still an irreplaceable tool for designers, while prototyping helps in simulating reach experiences and technical feasibility. Before proceeding, it is important to define the term designer: Designer is anyone who create sketching or prototyping in order to design, regardless of their job. Designing an interactive system to encourage people to walk requires defining the problem the system is trying to solve or improve. There are different approaches that can be taken. to define the problem. One analytical approach is to outline the system requirements that need to be fulfilled. In the same line Newman (1995) argues that the problem should be described only by onein a single sentence, this helps to highlight the situation of concern we need to addresssolve. Another approach is finding the users needs by creating personas, scenarios and storyboards. Overall, to create a successful and innovative system is necessary to develop different solutions, and then select one of the ideas. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But the development of the cell phone into a smartphone proves this statement right. This includes transformations, besides the normal functionalities of a phone like text messaging, receiving and making calls. A smartphone's operating system reflects the users lifestyle because it controls the choice of applications, the general features and functionality in a phone. However the mobile market is fragmented amongst the following software platforms or operating systems; WebOS, BlackBerry OS, Windows phone formerly known as (Windows Mobile OS), Android OS, Meego OS, Bada OS, Symbian OS, iPhone OS, and Tizen OS. A disadvantage of query string style parameterization over path style is that the latter is more likely to be cached by modern browsers. We provide a reference implementation [14] of embedding the service in the OpenWayback interface12 (Figure 10), invoked by specifying the access=wayback query parameter. When a user queries the service, the URI parameter is used to build a request to the Internet Archive (IA) using Memento. The service receives the response from IA, adhering to the patterns described in the Memento RFC [21], and proceeds to extract relevant information from the TimeMap to build the local structures for client–side data management. From this list of URI–Ms, each is queried and when the DOM is fully loaded, the HTML is returned to the service for further analysis. Complete loading of the target memento is necessary to allow any DOM modification by embedded JavaScript script to be executed. From each memento's HTML, a SimHash value is created and a Hamming distance calculation is performed with k = 4, as determined to be optimal by AlSum [2]. When the set of eligible mementos has been established, a template is returned to the client as a user interface with placeholders for the screenshots to be generated asynchronously. From 12 https://github.com/iipc/openwayback those mementos that meet the threshold, a subsequent request is sent to IA using PhantomJS13 (a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Google marketed the platform to handset makers and carriers on the premise of providing a flexible, upgradable system. Google had lined up a series of hardware component and software partners and signaled to carriers that it was open to various degrees of cooperation on their part. On December 2006, according to the reports from the BBC and The Wall Street Journal noted that Google wanted its search and applications on mobile phones and they were working hard to deliver that. Print and online media outlets soon reported rumours that Google was try to develop a Google–branded handset and some deduced that as Google was defining technical specifications, it was showing prototypes to cell phone manufacturers and network operators. Almost two and a half years later, on November 5, 2007, Google took the mobile device world by storm again after the Apple's iOS by announcing their new Linux–based mobile handset operating system named Android. They not only introduce an entirely new mobile OS, but also announced that it was open– source which can surpass the monopoly of Apple. • 46. Cell Phones Are Ordinary Today Cell phones are ordinary today. Very nearly everybody has one. My grandma conveys an iPhone and my dad – a man who once swore he 'd never convey a telephone with him anyplace – slaps a Samsung Galaxy S III with an OtterBox case on his hip each morning. It wasn 't generally so. I was the main individual at my secondary school – educators and organization included – with a cell phone. To start with, I had the Moto Q, then the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, trailed by the Curve 8330. Furthermore, that is the place my story started, in 2006, taking lesson notes (read: playing Brick Breaker and Asteroids) on an incredible QWERTY console about a large portion of the palm 's extent of my hand. Trust it or not, cell phone history backtracks over 10 years before that. Things were ... intriguing in those days. In the first place, what is a cell phone? Turns out, the real definition, regardless of the source, is very ambiguous. Merriam–Webster compactly calls a cell phone "a PDA that incorporates extra programming capacities (as email or an Internet program)." Oxford Dictionaries, then again, gets somewhat more exact by saying a cell phone "has the capacity perform a hefty portion of the elements of a PC, commonly having a moderately expansive screen and a working framework equipped for running universally useful applications." In any case, there is an almost negligible difference between what is and isn 't a cell phone nowadays, regardless of the fact that the purported "moronic" or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It's used to assist us in just about anything, whether we need directions, need to text a friend, or even buy a ticket to a movie or theme park we can perform tasks like this in just a matter of minutes. So what is a smartphone? A smartphone is a phone which includes a state–of–the–art mobile operating system that incorporates the features of a personal computer operating system with other features useful for mobile or handheld use. Typically, these features combine the usual use of a cell phone with those of other popular mobile devices, such as personal digital assistant, media player and GPS navigation unit. This mobile phone was the first phone to incorporate PDA (personal digital assistant) features, which was demonstrated that year at the COMDEX computer industry trade show. In addition to the PDA features, the phone also included visionary apps such as maps, stocks and news. Soon after the release of the prototype, a refined version was introduced to consumers, the Simon Personal Communicator. The Simon Personal Communicator first revealed its face in 1992 and was the first cellular device that can be properly referred to as a "smartphone" even though it was not called that when it was initially released. Simon came with a monochrome touchscreen, a stylus, and a charging base station. It went on sale in 1993 through BellSouth Cellular for an enormous price of $899 with a two–year agreement or $1,099 without contract. IBM sold approximately 50,000 Simon units. Nokia entered the not–yet–developed smartphone space in 1996. It released the Nokia 9000 Communicator to the market, a 1.5–inch thick, 14 ounce phone with an outward facing dial pad, navigation keys, and monochromatic display. Unlike the Simon Personal Communicator, the 9000 Communicator looked almost like a run–of–the–mill cell phone from 1996. However, along the left edge, was a hinge which opened to a full QWERTY keyboard and physical navigation buttons neighboring a much larger display. Since the last decade, Mobile phones continued to evolve into smartphones which can do much more than calling and texting. Smartphones are nothing but computers with extra internal hardware specifically a GSM radio (Global System for Mobile Communications) and a baseband processor that controls the radio. Along with these primary hardware components, smartphones now comes embedded with additional hardware such as NFC (Near Field Communications) and other sensors which can make it far more useful than in general. This proliferation of smartphones has gotten the concern of mobile security back into emphasis. Smartphones are swiftly becoming a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apart from these protocols, I'll also provide various security threats that affected iOS since its release and give the possible solutions. Introduction Sales of smartphones and tablet devices are budding rapidly as they are becoming omnipresent. This is because of both the hardware and software features present in these devices. One of the main reasons of this popularity is the availability of the applications, ranging from high definition games to the office applications. According to the survey conducted [5], there are around 800 million iOS users in the world and Apple has gained 130 million iOS users in the year 2014 alone and there are currently around 1.2 million applications in the Appstore [6]. Because of this popularity and the growing number of iOS users in last four years, exploiting the iOS devices became a thing for the hackers. Apple uses unconventional security architecture of iOS and has strict regulations in the Appstore making it better than its competitors. Some of the security features used in Apple iOS is ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization) which is a used for memory protection in operating systems. When Android was launched it was primarily a mobile operating system based on a Linux kernel developed and backed financially by Google. The plainness of user interface played a momentous role in spreading the use of Android. The end user could manipulate the on – screen objects by real – world actions such as swiping, tapping, pinching and many other actions to make Android an compliant platform. Its main use was seen mainly in smartphones. With the growth of time, Android found its way in tablet computers, television, cars and wrists watch. These were some of the characteristics that in my idea led to use of Android in gaming consoles, camera and other electronics. Smartphone users have a wish not just for games in broad, but for class games that provide them entertainment. Games need to be build in a way that is well thought out and organized to provide the user with the best talent possible. In order for all of these pieces to fit together, planning is necessary in coming up with a game architecture that satisfies all of the requirements for a excellence game. They also need to be original so as to offer a unique experience that stands out from the mass of other applications pushed out into the Android market. In determining how the player, balloons, opposing characters, and input all interact with one another, it is important to use a mean that is simple, yet successful. We examine browser built–in password managers, mobile password managers, and 3rd party managers. We observe significant differences in autofill policies among password managers. Several autofill policies can lead to disastrous consequences where a remote network attacker can extract multiple passwords from the user's password manager without any interaction with the user. We experiment with these attacks and with techniques to enhance the security of password managers. We show that our enhancements can be adopted by existing managers. 1 Introduction With the proliferation of Web services, ordinary users are setting up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our results. We study the security of password managers and propose ways to improve their security. We begin with a survey of how ten popular password managers decide when to autofill passwords. Different password managers employ very different autofill policies, exposing their users to different risks. Next, we show that many corner cases in autofill policies can lead to significant attacks that enable remote password extraction without the user's knowledge, simply by having the user connect to a rogue router at a coffee shop. We believe that password managers can help strengthen credential security rather than harm it. In Section 5 we propose ways to strengthen password managers so that users who use them are more secure than users who type in passwords manually. We implemented the modifications in the Chrome browser and report on their effectiveness. We conclude with a discussion of related work on password managers. An example. We give many examples of password extraction in the paper, but as a warm–up we present one example here. Consider web sites that serve a login page over HTTP, but submit the user's password over HTTPS (a setup intended to prevent an eavesdropper from reading the password but actually leaves the site vulnerable). • 56. The Core Of Android Architecture It is the core of Android architecture that forms the foundation of Android. Linux kernel includes hardware drivers, power management, memory management, process management and binder driver, which provides all the fundamental services needed by the system. Although it is called Linux kernel, it is not a standard Linux kernel; Google has customized it for Android devices. The main difference between them is the binder driver, which is an Android–specific inter–process communication mechanism that enables one Android process to call a procedure in another Android process. Another major difference is the ashmem module, which is an Android version of shared memory allocator, similar to Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) shm but with a simpler file–based API. And also the Power Manager has been enhanced to save battery, which is critical for smartphones. Libraries On top of Linux kernel are Libraries, which provide services written in native language like C and C++. It contains a long list of middle wares that include SQLite, WebKit, SSL, Media, C runtime library. SQLite is responsible for database, WebKit is for browser support, SSL is used to secure network transmissions. We have been working with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. We don't want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash. In addition, Flash has not performed well on mobile devices. We have routinely asked Adobe to show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We have never seen it. Adobe publicly said that Flash would ship on a smartphone in early 2009, then the second half of 2009, then the first half of 2010, and now they say the second half of 2010. We think it will eventually ship, but we're glad we didn't hold our breath. Who knows how it will perform? Fourth, there's battery life. To achieve long battery life when playing video, mobile devices must decode the video in hardware; decoding it in software uses too much power. Many of the chips used in modern mobile devices contain a decoder called H.264 – an industry standard that is used in every Blu–ray DVD player and has been adopted by Apple, Google (YouTube), Vimeo, Netflix and many other companies. Although Flash has recently added support for H.264, the video on almost all Flash websites currently requires an older generation decoder that is not implemented in mobile chips and must be run in software.
