Synthetic resins are industrially produced polymers that cure from a viscous substance into a rigid polymer. They are typically manufactured through a chemical polymerization process using plants. Common examples include epoxy resins, which are twice as strong as concrete and used in adhesives and composites. Synthetic resins have a variety of applications and are used in products like adhesives, finishes, particle board and molded objects. However, manufacturing synthetic resins also carries certain risks due to the use of hazardous chemicals in the process.
