The document proposes implementing a "one learning a day" program within a company to help employees adapt to changes. It discusses:
1) Surveying employees to understand how training can fit into their schedules to maximize productivity and minimize time away from work.
2) Creating spaces for informal learning and discussion, such as installing technology and furniture near coffee machines to spark daily lessons.
3) Organizing games, lunch sessions, and job rotations to apply lessons in interactive ways.
4) Acknowledging potential limits like costs, time constraints, and lack of interest that require creative solutions to motivate participation.
2. The situation
Major companies have to face changes within their environment and have to
adapt and to improve.
In order to do so you chose the E-learning way as well as the training within the
company. We know that it takes time and money with no guarantee that the
project will be a success and will be approved by the employees.
More than the project content in itself the questioning part will be about the
place that it will take within the organization and if the fit will match.
We need to find a way that maximize the learning productivity of employees
and that will not keep them away from their daily tasks.
The biggest issue here is the time management, being efficient as well
as time saving.
3. Our problematic
What impact does this project will have on the job organization?
How could we manage to implement the “one learning a day” within
the organization to make them match perfectly?
4. The impact
S Time consuming (less effective time at work)
S Bring an innovative project within a traditional work
environment
5. Implementation Steps
On-the-job training
S Employees questionnaire (ask them how could they manage
to handle the formation within their work schedule)
S
The idea of the questionnaire is based on the assumption that more
involvement from employees in the project organization would create a
positive and motivating image of the project.
S
Question doesn’t have to be too open or too close we need their opinion
without letting them fully decide on how they would organize their time.
S Create an area that involves an environment suitable for the
talk
S
After that a benchmark was realized it came out that most of the actual
competitive company all emphasize on employees environment. Either to
allow them to improve their creativity and productivity via some restrooms or
to create a good environment to discuss different topics with their colleagues
and at the end improve their knowledge by sharing.
6. Implementation Steps
On-the-job training
S Put the theme lesson of the day on the coffee machine
screen
S
Once we have the place to talk, we need some motivational tools such
as the coffee machine that has a screen on which we could display the
today theme with small animation.
S Installation of iPad near the coffee machine
S
It is based on the same idea than the coffee machine and will allows
employees to familiarize with new technology as well as reminding today
lesson and talk about it with colleagues
S Create a network via technological tools in order to ask
questions each other and discuss subjects
S
We would also like to create a platform that will allow employees to share
suggestions and ideas but also to ask for help.
7. Implementation Steps
Classroom and interaction
training
S Organization of serious game
S One afternoon every two weeks, a serious game regrouping the teams in each
department that allows to apply the theory in a different way.
S Brown bag lunches or lunch and learns
S It’s a good way of enhancing employees development and their commitment regarding
the company.
S Try to experiment “transfers”
S When it is possible during workshop or activities, try to transfer colleagues between the
various department of the company. This mix can provide experience in other areas of
an employee’s current department.
S Implementation of “mentoring relationships”
S This can contribute to add experience and skills to a mentored employee. It’s another
way of participating in the employee development within the company
8. Limits or Constraints
S Money spending
S An adequate and creative training will always cost money. This constraint cannot
be avoided.
S Time consuming
S It is not always possible to find the adequate amount of time needed
S Lack of interest
S Employees can badly perceive the training and see it as something useless for
their daily task.
S Lack of attendance
S Resulting from the lack of interest, employees might not even attend the training
if it is not directly expressed as “compulsory” and if they do not see the benefits.
S If restroom risk of bad use
S It can happen that this type of room might not be used for the purpose it is
supposed to.
9. Conclusion
S Seriously take in account the employee’s opinion
S Be responsive to their thought
S Create a suitable work environment
S Enhance sharing practices
S Promote interaction between colleagues
S Add value to the training by being creative
