Our team will be dedicated to you for a specific
period of time. We won’t work on anything else.
After your timebox is complete, you may not need
us again. If you do, we will be available as needed
through our on-call consulting. We can use these
‘consulting blocks’ for revisions, additional
presentations, evaluations of down-stream work,
or merely staying involved at a regular cadence.

We specialize in usability testing and jobs-to-be-done-
style user interviews. We want to uncover user needs and
improve products in general.
Product research also includes evaluations and analyses,
of existing products, the competition, or a whole market.
These evaluations and analyses can be comprehensive or
focused on a specific aspect such as accessibility or
usability.

Standard qualitative research
Time: 2-weeks
Any special recruitment or facility rentals must occur
prior to commencing the 2-week time box. This type of
project breaks down over 10-business days: 3-days of
planning, 3-days of tests/interviews, 3-days of analysis,
final day to present.

Standard quantitative research
Time: 3-weeks (2-week-split)
Again, all recruiting would occur prior to the time box and
would give participants a defined window to complete the
survey or self-serve test. We would split a 2-week time
box, using the first week to create the test and the second
week to analyze the results. We would use at least one
week in-between to allow users to complete the
test/survey. We can leave it open as long as we need as
you will only be charged for the first week and the last
week.

One of the easiest ways to engage us is by asking us to
evaluate your product. In a single week we can generally
include 4 evaluations in our final report:

UX guidelines for software and
web development
Time: 1-3 weeks
Better than wireframes alone, our design standards
deliver guidelines for information design, pattern design,
and page design the entire team can use.
• Information design is used to establish mental models,
user flows, categorization, and navigation.
• Pattern design is used to build a custom design system
with wireframed patterns and rationale.
• Page design uses the design system to build wireframed
pages, states, and annotations or functionality.

Step 1
Guess what, even simple products require these things. So,
we provide them every time. Whether we’re working on a
simple website or a complicated application, we start by
defining the user flows and the information architecture.
This can include simple user flows, complex journey maps
or blueprints, or even detailed taxonomy Excel sheets.
From simple site maps to exhaustive content inventories.

system for every product.
Step 2
Your custom design system represents the building blocks
of your product. We will define a solid foundation of re-
usable components required to meet the user needs and
user flows.
Even simple websites benefit from a simple, streamlined
design system, so, we produce one for every project.

We show you how to use the
patterns to build pages.
Step 3
You want low-fidelity prototypes; we have decades of
experience building all kinds. We generally default to
annotated static wireframes or Axure-based HTML
prototypes, but we are can create low-fi prototypes in
dozens of ways based on our clients preference.
We typically create core pages or page templates with
placeholder content, but can create comprehensive
prototypes with real content if needed.
