Global MPI
12. MPIs: Two kinds ~ both useful
• Global MPI – Internationally comparable:
- Estimated by OPHI & UNDP’s HDRO
- Covers more than 100 developing countries ($1.90 – 118)
- Can compare regions, sub-national, groups, across time
- Better measure needs better data
• National MPIs:
- Reflect national contexts and priorities
- Guide policy
- Complement (or incorporate) monetary poverty measures
- Cannot be compared (like national income poverty measures)
20. Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN)
South South Network with 40+ countries et al.
Launched 2013 with 3 activities:
- South-South interchange and cross-learning

- Research and technical training

21. Next projects:
• Construction of harmonized databank
• Study of trends and drivers of multidimensional poverty
• Evaluation of integrated policies to reduce poverty
