Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) deploys community health workers to provide antibiotics, oral rehydration salts, anti-malarials, and screening for malnutrition to treat childhood illnesses in areas with limited access to health facilities. However, iCCM has lost interest and funding from the global health community. While child mortality rates have improved dramatically in many countries, rates in some countries remain 2-3 times higher than average and an 80-fold difference exists between the lowest and highest countries. The future of iCCM is uncertain given shifting priorities, but it remains critical for child survival in many countries.
