4. Sample
Of those 500 men they will all be single
men ranging from their teenage years all
the way to their late 40’s
5. Design
We will randomly select 500 men to be apart
of this study. We will get names from a
phone book and put them all into a program
that randomly generates names much like
the random number generator. We will pick
125 men from each age group and send an
observer to judge their cleanliness
6. Blocking
We would use blocking in order to divide
up the age groups. This blocking would
show the difference in how men of
different ages deal with hygiene.
7. Blinding
We would use a single blind study. The
men we are observing would have no idea
what we are doing. We would tell them
that we were there on other business.
8. Control, Randomization, and
Replication
There is no control in this study because it is
not an experiment but rather an
observational study
We would randomly select 500 single men
from the phonebook
After this study we could conduct it again
using a different set of 500 men
9. Concerns
Our main concern of this study would be a
nonresponse bias. We are afraid that
some guys will not bother to answer the
door because they don’t want to be
annoyed by a survey
10. Conclusion
We would use a cleanliness scale
determining how dirty the man is. For
example, 1-3 extremely dirty, 4-6
moderately dirty,7-9 generally clean, 10
perfectly clean. Using this scale we could
in fact determine if men “are pigs”
