Local counci ls of fer funding and suppor t for local fi lmmakers.
Pros –
 They want to help local
people and thei r endeavour s
and make money.
 They provide suf f icient
funding.
 No money needs to be paid
back, so there is no pressure
on the f i lmmaker to make a
prof i t .
Cons –
 They are unl ikely to provide
funding for a f i lm that
exploi ts the counci l and the
issues sur rounding the area.
 They wi l l not fund for a f i lm
that does not benef i t them.

4. FILM STUDIOS
Fi lm studios are companies that have their own faci lities to
create fi lms.
Pros –
 Of fers enough money for
smal l feature f i lms.
 Can work independent ly or
wi th a f inance par tner.
 Has sui table faci l i t ies to aid
a f immaker.
Cons –
 Requi res a ful l scr ipt .
 Shor t biography of cast ,
producer (s) , wr i ter, di rector.
 A proposed budget and
f inance st ructure and
evidence of f inancing
al ready in place.

upon.

Fi lmmakers can turn to the general public for the financial
suppor t to make a fi lm. This can be done through crowd funding
websites l ike Kickstar ter
Pros –
 Suppor t f rom large amounts
of people.
 No need to pay back –

return.
 Simple process.
Cons –
 Not guaranteed to work.
 Not ever yone is going to be
wi l l ing to pay.

7. COMPETITIONS
Fi lm institutions of ten hold competitions to give fi lmmakers the
oppor tunity to win the suppor t to produce a fi lm.
Pros –

 There is a chance of not
