High School And All Star Cheerleading Essay
Not all cheerleaders are created equal, they do not perform the same or work as hard. Any All–Star cheerleader will tell you that high school
cheerleading is not nearly as hard as All–Star Cheerleading, but why is that? Cheerleading is a mix of chanting, dancing, tumbling, and stunting. Each
level of cheerleading has its limits and regulations. To understand why exactly All–Star girls believe they put in so much more work, one must look
into the differences between their coaching, training, limits, and requirements to see who really is on the top of the pyramid when it comes to
cheerleading.
I have done both high school and All–Star cheerleading. I know first hand how each practice goes, and I have gone through the competitions, training,
games, and practices. The first big difference between the two levels of cheerleading is the practice and training. At a high school cheerleading
practice, every practice is usually the same. The practice starts out with the everyone circling up and stretching and laughing, it's not taken very serious.
After we stretch, we would usually train for twenty minutes. Training involved seeing how many push ups, sit ups, and jumping jacks we could do in
a minute. Then, we would run a single lap around the football field, but most of the cheerleaders would walk. After training was over we most likely
would practice cheers and chants for thirty minutes, dances for thirty minutes, and then stunt if we were lucky. We rarely stunted for the simple

Stunting: The Four Types Of A Flyer
Let's start with stunting, which by definition is when a base or group of bases lift or toss a flyer overhead to perform tricks in the air (Cheer
Book). Stunting can be divided into three different categories based on what the flyer it doing in the air. Pyramids, group stunts, and tosses all have
the same basic components to get the flyer up. There are four different positions in a group, the flyer who is the girl being lifted or tossed into the air,
the backspot who stands directly behind the flyer and supports her ankles and butt, the main base who stands to the flyer's right and supports the ball
and heel of the flyer's foot, and finally the side base who stands to the left of the flyer and, depending on the stunt, basically supports the... Show more

Now that you all know the basics of a stunt we can talk about the three types that a squad is judged on. A group stunt is when the flyers in each
group are only standing on one leg, and the other leg is being pulled behind their back or in front of them. The judge's score this stunt bases on
timing, flexibility, difficultly and technique. A toss stunt is what cheerleader's call a basket, and this is when the bases make a lactic with their
hands and the flyer steps on the top of their hands one foot at a time. Once the flyer's feet are off the ground, the bases full extend their arms up and
the flyer is tosses in to the air where she can do many different tricks before she comes back down, and is caught by the bases. Judges can score this
on height, difficultly, and technique. As for the pyramid stunt, this is at least five stunt groups that stand back to back with each other. During this stunt
flyers can do an array of things from flipping backwards, to switching feet in the air, to flying to a completely different stunt

Reflection Paper On Concussions
"Hey Mom, it's Sam. Can you come get me from school? I got another concussion," I told my mother when I called her. I was sitting in the athletic
training room trying to remember what just happened. When I called my mom all she could do was laugh, she laughed like what I had just told
her was a joke. She contained herself, then I asked her to talk to the athletic trainer which she soon realized I was serious and not kidding. I joke a
lot, so imagine her reaction to me telling her I got a concussion at my first day back in cheer from a concussion the month before. Never did we
imagine how it would all pan out the way it did. I was sitting in the frigid athletic training room, my feet dangling off the bench waiting for the
athletic trainer to sign some papers. These papers were my key to my return to cheer. I was not allowed back until these papers were signed
clearing me. I was excited, nervous, happy and relieved that soon I would be back on a blue mat alongside my teammates and best friends. It just
happened to be that next time there would be cheer, would be the day of our tryouts. Finally, after what felt like hours the athletic trainer signed my
papers and said "you're all set for cheer tomorrow", I was beyond excited. Tomorrow was the day I go back to doing what I love. The day finally
came, the day I had been waiting for since I had gotten my first concussion. I finally returned to cheer. I was nervous and anxious, but more than
anything else I was excited and

Personal Narrative: Coach Ridenhour As A Jumper
It was the summer before 9th grade. I wanted to tryout for the school cheer team. I had been going to the summer workouts and clinics where we
were learning the material needed to make the team. Each day as it got closer to tryouts we were working on harder skills and perfecting those. I
had planned on being a base and trying out as a base. One day Coach Ridenhour, the coach for the VJ cheer squad, asked if anyone wanted to try to
be a flyer. I thought it might be fun to try, so I said that I would be interested. She put me in a stunt as a flyer, I was a little nervous because I had
never done it before. As I was going up my heart started pounding in my chest, my fists clenched up, so many thoughts were going through my brain
all at once. I thought I was going to fall, but before I knew it I was up and stable in the stunt! I could not believe I had got up there and did not fall.

She was glad I said yes, but she was also a little upset. "I love you as a flyer, but I also love you as a base!" she exclaimed. I laughed and said, "I can do
either one whenever you want me to." She put me in a group with Finley as my secondary base, McKayla as my main base and Chloe as my back
spot. We tried all the stunts we had to tryout with. We struggled a little at first because we had never worked together before. Once we got used to
being together, we hit all the

When I asked for questions from the Hallmark fans, she was the only one who came to me with a question.
I can hardly believe that anyone had a question for me. {laughs}
I knew it was a long shot to ask for questions since you 're a supporting cast member, but I am so glad she stepped up and asked because she is such a
huge fan of all the Chicago shows.
That 's so awesome and just so flattering. It was a killer experience, and I learned a ton on set. It was the first show I ever did a stunt on. It was a minor
one, but it was totally a different world.

was amazed to see that they had grown by like thirty percent last year when other networks were losing viewers. It used to not be cool to admit that
you watch Hallmark, but now it 's becoming acceptable.
Yeah, it 's a thing.
And what 's neat about the ones that you have been in is that they are on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel which means they are not the
simple romantic comedies. They have a bit more drama to them.
Yes, I think you might say they 're more plot–driven.
Yes, very much. Now JL Ranch––that had to be an experience.
That was amazing! That was a bucket list for me, you know? That was super cool. To get to work withJon Voight––that was amazing. I mean Jon

And it ends up being Jon Voight, the dentist. That 's all I could think about every time I saw him. I 've just got to get a pencil! {laughs} I didn 't do

Youtube Made Me Do It Analysis
Now more than ever, kids are taking dangerous risks for their short 15 minutes of fame on the internet, but it isn't the social media's fault. Some may
say that it is social media's fault because it's letting kids hurt themselves for a chance at fame and isn't stopping it. But that just isn't the case. It's our
fault for liking, watching, and sharing the videos and skyrocketing them to popularity. It's also the same thing as watching people perform dangerous
stunts on TV, giving people fame for doing dangerous and sometimes stupid things. It is clearly our own fault that kids are harming themselves not
social media's. We are the ones who are watching, liking and sharing these videos of kids harming themselves. It is our own fault because we are the
ones who give them attention and make them famous. People make their livings off of sites like Youtube, many, many young people want to be rich
and famous. Doing things like stupid stunts on social media can make this happen, but only if we actually give them the attention they want. To quote
child psychologist Alan Hilfer in the article, "Youtube Made Me Do it" by Mackenzie Carro, "Teens will do anything wild and crazy to bring attention
to themselves–even if its potentially dangerous. Posting stunt videos... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The cheer team, The Great White Sharks, represented the school The Great White Shark High School in Maui, Hawaii. It was a big school that had
9,000 students. Every year the cheer team practices all summer so that they can compete in the World Championship. The World Championship is
held in Maui, Hawaii this year. The cheer team has three stunt groups. In one of the stunt groups is Reece, the flyer, Maggie, the back spot, Mauri and
Carci, the bases. They have competed together for almost 10 years. The age group they compete in is 12–14 year olds. The team practices every day,
except Sunday, for at least 4 hours a night. The girls are getting really excited for the championship which is coming up quickly. The day arrives for

she got off beat and started the count wrong. Mauri pushed Reece's foot up before Carci did and that made the stunt fall apart. The girls ended up
dropping Reece in the second stunt. When Reece fell to the floor she tried to break her fall by using her hand. Mauri, Carci, and Maggie couldn't
catch Reece before she hit the ground. The music stopped and the EMTs came onto the floor where Reece was laying, holding her hand and crying.

Personal Narrative: Joining The Regional Competition
Everyone tells us that we have to win regionals. The stress was overpowering. I know Elle wants to win. Her team, the Broncos, have won three years
in a row. How could they not win?
This year, there were rumors about the Patriots finally joining the competition. They were banned from regionals because they won eight years in a
row. The judges forbid the Patriots from coming back because it did not seem fair for them to continue to win. Up until now.
Today is a mandatory practice. The regional competition is in three weeks. Elle is rushing out of the door to her mom's car. She doesn't have time to
tie my laces. I can feel my laces bobbing up and down the side of me as she sprints to her mom's car. She's almost late, but she bursts through ... Show

She cries from the excruciating pain. The coach runs over to her. She cries harder and harder. All of this is my fault. Why are my laces so long? I
wish I could cry with her. I hate it when she falls from a stunt.
"I think you've sprained your wrist," the coach informs. "It'll heal in about a week in half, maybe two weeks."
"But...then regionals will be in a week. I might have a mental block again. I can't..." She cries harder. Without her, there's no way we can win regionals,
I think to myself.
Elle is one of our best flyers. She can't get another mental block.
For the rest of practice, Elle sits out and watches her team. She desires to go home.
Outside, the rain pours down onto the concrete. The splashes of the rain calms her down, but she grows more depressed. Her mom's car is out in the
distance, and she slowly paces to the passenger seat. The car ride home is dead silent. Elle stares outside the window with a blank expression on her
face. She replays the moment of her falling in her mind over and over again.

she collapses on her bed. If I could, I would cry with

Cheerleading: A Dangerous Sport
Cheerleading is a very dangerous sport. If the body is not well–conditioned, the athlete can severely injure themselves. Cheerleaders represent the
teams they cheer for, which in most cases are football and basketball. Cheerleaders are not just about being "beautiful" or "popular," but are more often
known for being role models. With concussions being extremely high risk in cheerleading, it's important for cheerleaders to be dedicated, and have
proper strength and knowledge to make them successful in cheerleading. First, in cheerleading, while cheerleaders are mostly known for cheering on
their football and basketball teams, having dedication is a top priority. If cheerleaders are not dedicated and start to miss practices or games it ... Show

Stunts are usually done with two or more people with the lifters known as the bases, and one flyer that gets tossed into the air. It takes strength and
proper stance when a stunt is being done. For the bases, when they toss the flyer with their backs or just their arms instead of their legs more than
likely the bases will injure their backs. For the flyer, it is extremely important for them to stay stiff while being tossed into the air. If the flyer goes up
wobbly this will cause the bases to lose balance and the stunt will eventually fall. During stunts it is almost given that you will get punched or kicked
in the face. Additionally, when I coached I strongly recommended everyone to use proper counts and any extra spots that were available. Spots are used
during stunts to help the bases and flyers from falling and hitting the ground.
Concussions are a high risk in cheerleading. Flyers can be overly tossed in a stunt during a routine. Which is why the usage of mats being in gyms are
mandatory if stunts are being performed. Though the mats won't prevent injuries, they will help the severity of an injury that may

Concussions In High School Cheerleaders
Every day high school cheerleaders are being thrown in the face of danger on the sidelines under the Friday night lights. But at what cost? The
sideline heroes experience the same head traumas and lifelong disabilities as those who are playing on the gridiron. The recent skyrocketing trend of
cheerleading head injuries is alarming and leads into the discussion question that every athletic director in every school in America should be asking,
how can we protect our athletes. High school cheerleaders should have access to high–quality equipment. Aconcussion is commonly known as a
traumatic brain injury or the moving of the brain inside the skull. The injury usually occurs from an athlete hitting their head on a surface or falling
causing a jerking motion enough to move the brain inside the cranium. The concussion rate in high school cheerleading is about 25%, which ties into
the problem of should high school cheerleaders have better equipment access to reduce concussion rates? A high school cheer team on average stunts
about 75% of the time according to cheer company, Varsity Spirit. During this time most concussions occur. One major way the concussion rate can
decrease is by allowing access to stronger tumbling and stunt mats. A cheer stunt mat is normally a foam mat that rolls out to allow support during
stunting. A cheer stunt is defined as a building performance. According to Terry Ziegler " the only safe surfaces for high

Assassin's Creed Essay
While it does not come out until December, Assassin's Creed is one of the most anticipated films of the year. According to the Director Justin Kurzel,
they tried to film "As much as possible in reality." This means less CGI and more real stunts. In the recently released stunt featurette entitled
"Assassin's Creed: The Leap of Faith," we get to see idea first hand.
In the movie, Michael Fassbender's character Callum Lynch / Aguilar is trapped a must perform a "Leap of Faith" from 125 feet off the ground.
Producer Patrick Crowley stated that normally this would be done with CGI, but "Damien is the best, so we will do it for real." Says Crowley. The
'Damien' he is referring to is Damien Walters, who stunt doubles for Fassbender in the film.
In the video below, Walters and the crew discuss and then Damien executes multiple falls from various heights starting at 70 ft, then 90 ft and finally
performing the tallest at 125 ft. The bag Walters landed in is 10m by 10m or roughly 32 ft by 32 ft. The free fall is also one of the highest performed

Stunts In Cheerleading
Cheerleading all started in 1903 actually by a group of men.. woah, so when people say cheerleading is a girl sport you can remind them men were
the first to cheer. Woman finally started cheer in 1923, they dominated the sport during world war II due to men having to leave to fight in the war.
Now cheer is a sport that allows both men and woman. Stunts are defined as building performances displaying a person's skill or dexterity. Stunting in
cheerleading has been previously referred to as building pyramids. Stunts range from basic two–legged stunts, to one–legged extended stunts, and high
flying basket tosses. Depending on what level you're on will do different stunts. Starting on a mini team the most common stunts will be knee
stands or thigh stands, a knee stand is when two bases go down on one knee and the flyer will stand on the bases thigh area and the back spot will
be there holding the waist making sure the flyer does not fall, the thigh stand is very similar except instead of the bases being on there knees they
will be in a lunge and the flyer will stand on the bases thigh area and again the back spot will hold the waist.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

flyer jump holding on to the waist. Once the flyer is in what is called a smush with there knees bent the back spot will say "1,2" and both bases will
lift the flyer up as high as your shoulders and the flyer will just straighten his/her legs being very tight and then the back spot will then grab the flyers

I have been a cheerleader for four years (not consecutively), but the part I really enjoy is building stunts. I am a back–spot, so I lead my stunt group in

practice and strongly believe you can do it. Although stunting is fun, it is considered a contact sport, and for a very good reason. A lot of the time a
stunt does not hit or it just does not go up. This sometimes means the top girl (flyer) fell, but thankfully my stunt group never lets her hit the floor. My
stunt group, as well as myself, always catch our flyer, but this leads us to get either bruises, hit in the face, hit in the chest, and maybe even fell on.
Even though stunting can be painful at times, it is very fun being able to throw a girl high up in the air and catching

Cheerleading : Cheerleading Is A Sport
Cheerleading is a sport
Some may argue cheerleading cannot and will not be a sport, but according to Oxford Dictionary, a sport is defined as an activity involving physical
exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment . People that do not cheer do not get a true
perspective of how competitive the sport truly is. Cheerleading does not get the recognition that the sport deserves. Cheerleading exceeds all
requirements due to competitive nature, physical activity, branches of the olympics, rules that are required, advanced skills, and determination.
There are a multitude of risks and factors that one must consider before becoming a cheerleader. For instance, cheerleading requires a high level of
physical exertion and injuries can happen at anytime. This is what gives cheerleading its reputation as a competitive activity – one that rivals already
recognized sports such as basketball and football in competitiveness. Every person that is trying to become a cheerleader must be serious, and be
dedicated. For someone to get the opportunity of having the title of being a cheerleader, one must go through an advanced try–out. These try–outs are
not short; rather, preparation for tryouts usually last four days. During those days, everyone proves their abilities to see where they stand for stunts,
cheering, dancing, jumps, tumbling and the various other positions within cheerleading. One factor that is heavily focused on during

The Dangers Of Being A Cheerleader Essay
The Dangers of Being a Cheerleader
"Out with old, in with the new," from being on the sideline to being up in the air. While being a cheerleader there are things that can and will cause
accidents, such as being tossed up into the air and not being caught, twisted ankle, or a broken bone. A cheerleader has the chance of being in an
accident. This sport is very dangerous to the lives of cheerleaders, even though football has its powerful hit, cheerleading is still considered more
dangerous than football. Cheerleading have effects on the physical body, injury's, accidents, and the stunts that can cause accidents.
The physical body can be severely damaged, because of the force that is used between the contact with gravity and the ground. Contact ... Show more

It's the accidents that a cheerleader has to worry about, because while one cheerleader is having fun there is another that has gotten in an accident.
Not a car accident, more like a stunt accident or a basketball accident. It could be dangerous for a cheerleader to even be at the game, because if the
cheerleader is standing on the sideline , he or she can and will get ran over by the basketball players. That is because they are the closest ones to the
court. I know , form a personal experience where I saw the my best friend on my cheer squad get ran over by a basket ball player, and it made her pass
out and the effect was a concussion. Not only getting ran over by a basketball player, there is still stunts and jumps. Like stated before, they can
cause very severe damage; there are very few accidents as a cheerleader, where they face a life or death situation. For example, there was a female that
was only 20–years–old and her name was Lauren, and she had died when she was dropped 15 feet out out of a stunt. Yes, she died doing what she
loved," Fox News," That shows that cheerleading is dangerous because accidents happen, as a cheerleader one has to be opened to the situations that
could happen while

The Sport Of Cheerleading
In the last ten years, cheerleading has grown so much. People are starting to recognize for what it is: a sport. Cheerleading can be harsh and tough but
fun at the same time. In the routine there is a variety of things cheerleaders do in it. Usually people who are not familiar with cheer think it's effortless
to do a two minute and thirty second routine but in reality it's a lot more. In cheerleading, the routine almost always consists of tumbling, dance, and
stunts.
The first part of cheer that takes time, patience, and energy is tumbling. The tumbling section is divided into two parts standing and running
tumbling. Tumbling is a hit or miss because you can have really good days or really bad days, but getting lots of practice in can affect your
practices. Not only can you have crummy days, but tumbling takes time to get and isn't always easy to get. It requires stamina and repetition of doing
the skill whereas if you throw the skill one practice you might not able to do it for the next practice. For favorable and fast tumbling it requires a great
amount of strength so it's helpful to have to have strength in arms and even strength in the shoulders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dance is the last part of the routine or one of the last parts. It involves the whole team participating and trying their best to look good as a
whole. Having high energy makes the dance a lot better so being sync with each other makes a dance look so much cleaner. If you want to be put in
the front of the dance then you should try being "extra" in the motions. As coaches say, "If you feel like you look stupid in the dance, then you're doing it

The Sports And Recreational Activities
Cheerleaders all across the country come to practice, not expecting their season would end that day.
Over 3.5 million children 14 and younger every year get injured because of sports. More severe injuries occur during individual sports and recreational
activities. Statistics show that in nineteen eighty, over four thousand people got injured. Twenty–two years later, over twenty–four thousand people got
injured. Some practices are ordinary, but some aren't when there's a future injury that very same practice.
SYC Cheerleaders thought it was an ordinary sunny practice with stunting, until the libs started. One of the flyers, Julianna Johns, kept falling from
them, all because she wasn 't standing correctly. The team had a cheerleader on crutches, they didn't know what was in store for the rest of them. The
high school coaches had helped the flyer, Julianna, get into the rhythm of doing libs, but Julianna didn't know what would happen when the high
schoolers stepped out, and Bri and Vanessa came in. Vanessa didn't know what would happen the practice of September 28th, 2015, she didn't see
what was coming. She yells for her friend Galena, she decides to yell back, "VANESSSSSSAAAAAAA!!" and runs up to meet her friend. They
almost fall over while hugging, they always do that, so Vanessa thought it was a usual day. Vanessa and Galena walk over to nearly half of the team
before practice. Then, out of the blue, Gisselle, another person on the team, runs towards Vanessa and starts

I Am On The Cheer Team
I am very good at cheerleading For most people cheerleading is easy, but it's actually hard. It takes a lot of hard work and determination. As you
might have already figured out I am on the Cheer Team. There are twelve girls on the team this year, which is one more than last year. It's almost
like we hunted someone down and made them join the team as if we were Darth Vader. In cheer there are different titles. They are Base, Flyer,
Backspot, and front spot(if needed). I am a back spot. When I backspot my feet are planted on the sweaty mat, my hands are grasped around the
little ankle of my flyer, and I listened for the counts to begin. When I backspot, I feel free. I feel happy. I feel so happy that I could stretch my face

leader of the group. They make sure everyone knows what is going on, they call the dismount, and they catch the flyer's head and neck if they
happen to fall. When I backspot I am as focused as a lion hunting prey. The front spot is the person in the front that has their back facing away from

Great Acting Research Paper
A swath of videos titled "Why Action Movies Suck" have been buzzing around the internet for the past few years. They have discussed surface details
of some of the practical and obvious reasons why so many big time action movies released over the past few years have been such a massive
disappointment.
Writing, directing, post production and executive interference are all aspects that affect the final quality of an action film, but the most important and
most overlooked aspect of action films that plays a huge role in the quality of an action movie is the Stunt Aspect. In action movies stunt performers
are often responsible for as much if not more of the film than the actors. Every time you see Spiderman with his mask on, chances are you are ... Show

However, millions of movie fans are complaining about bad action movies. Bad action takes away from a film just as much as bad acting, but the
studios have no system in place to protect movie fans from bad action..
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was created with for this has served as a nucleus of quality control for American Actors and
Filmmakers since it was established in in 1927. At that time, the Art & Science of stunts had not evolved to the point where it required an Oscar.
However times have changed and the industry has evolved. Award winning films like "The Revenant" and "Mad Max: Roads of Fury" use stunts and
action as fundamental element to their success. If, but until they create a Stunt Oscar, Action Movie Fans will be stuck with the leftovers.
As long as there is not an Oscar for Best Stunt Work, Line Producers will continue to without proper accountability in place. The reason there is so
much bad action in today's market is no one is held accountable for the quality of the action in a film. Other than a select group of smart directors and
producers (JJ Abrams, Stephen Spielberg, Alejandro Gonzales Inararritu to name a few), filmmakers don't fight for the team and resources they need to

People will still get hurt because they can have it on Tv for a show where they show stunt fails. Also it the parents fault for letting them do it because
their brains have not at develop yet.
Kids see people do stunts and get fames and do cool trikes want to do the same thing but it's still not youtube's fault it's the person that posted it. The

Jennifer Carr. In the article Cheerleading– the Forgot Sport, it stated that out of 218 high school level injuries, 83 were from cheerleading. I happen to
be one of these "lucky" ones in 2014.
"I'll be fine, I promise," I murmured to Coach Lands although I could tell she had no idea what I was saying by the puzzled look on her face.

participant is risking a violent shot to the head" (Cheerleading– the Forgotten Sport).

I knew at that moment in time I needed to quit cheering although I never actually "quit" the squad, Chaffee's physical trainer refused to let me

Some of the long term effects that are stated in the article Long Term Effects of Brain Injuries are server problems with attention and short–term

Lastly, the fourth major phase for the company was identifying and alleviating stress for the support crewmembers. A survey was done and the top
four reasons of stress for the crewmembers were they are unable to handle some of the physical stress related to the job, job security, time being spent
on the job and not at home i.e. not enough flexibility, commuting to and from work, and the stunt performers lack of respect for the crewmembers. To
me, the solutions were obvious. I suggested Celsey implement relaxation training to teach the crewmembers how to deal with and alleviate stress,
software training to help the crewmember become more comfortable with the system therefore taking away the fear of them losing their job.
Furthermore, by making changes to the team–this would alleviate the lack of respect felt by the crewmembers because they would be working
alongside someone they are comfortable with, providing transportation to crewmembers instead of just stunt workers will alleviate the stress of
getting to and from work, establishing a code of conduct within the company will set a standard for the company for every employee to adhere to.
Lastly, allowing for a more flexible schedule so the employees will be able to spend more time doing the things they need to get done in their personal

The Fast and the Furious walks away with victory thanks to their modifications of the plot, the fantastic cast, and exceptional stunt scenes. Although
both movies are great in their own way, The Fast and the Furious took the similar plot, built a franchise, and ran with it for the last 16 years.

What has been the worse injury you've received while working? Most fun stunt you've experienced?
I have never hurt myself during stunts thank goodness and I say that knowing that there is always a possibility getting hurt. So I say that and am
grateful not being hurt during a stunt. The worse I got was someone stabbed me in the eye with a wooden sword and I have a little dot by my eye, so

Social Media's Fault That Kids Are Doing Dangerous Stunts
Argument Essay Is it really Social Media's fault that kids are doing dangerous stunts to get popular? For example people have been doing dangerous
things all the way back to the roman times. Others think that it's the persons fault because they are doing the harmful things to themselves. Like doing
the tide Pod Challenge, eating a Tide Pod could kill you or do harmful things to your body, but its still not Social Media's fault. But Teens have been

The Physics behind Daredevil Motorcycle Jumpers Essay
The Physics behind Daredevil Motorcycle Jumpers For a span of about 20 years only a few people were brave enough to be motorcycle stuntmen.
Performing death defying jumps were and still are looked upon as a "crazy" action. It takes much practice, natural skill, and planning for a stuntman
to perform a successful jump. Of course practice is dictated by ones determination, skill is acquired with the combination of practice and good genes.
And the planning has to do with physics. Sure one could just "grip it and rip it" go balls out and just jump, but the safe way to do it deals with careful
planning, which directly relates to physics topics. So the question is, how do motorcycle jumpers such as Evil Knievel plan out their jumps and... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are the two most crucial equations because now the jumper knows the angle of the ramp, the distance he needs to launch over, and the
speed he needs to reach in order to clear the gap. He also knows how high he can expect himself launch, that way there are no surprises. The
calculations are very important to the success of a motorcycle jump, but physics also play a role in the development of improvements. With better
technology comes new improvements; better motorcycles, ramps, and protective gear. Motorcycles will be built with more power, acceleration,
and speed. They will be lighter and easier to handle. Bike shocks will be built stronger to resist the impact of the landing and safer protective
aprons will be designed to prevent death or serious injury (crash padding). Daredevils will be able to launch further and higher than ever before
because the technology of their day will allow them to do so. Although these improvements will help advance the sport of motorcycle jumping,
there are still many factors involved. Safety is the most important thing, so riders still need to check all aspects of the jump. An important factor is
the ramp itself; is the angle of trajectory right? If it is too high the rider will go to high and fall short of the landing. If the angle is too low, the rider
will fall short of the landing. The ramp must have traction for the wheels of the bike to grab hold of and it must be

The Controversy Of Censorship In The United States
Have you ever heard the word, censorship? If not, this is what it means. Censorship is the practice of officially examining books, movies, etc., and
suppressing unacceptable parts. That is what people are trying to do to videos of stunts on YouTube, and they shouldn't.
Youtube is in no way responsible for what goes on in it's viewers' lives. It is the job of parents to watch their kids and actually parent them. Youtube
only has a censorship code for videos that encourage illegal or dangerous activities. If it were Youtube's job to entertain millions of people but to also
make sure that there is an age appropriate audience, it would not end well.
In the US, there is a law called the freedom of speech. It is our first ever real law. Freedom

High School And All Star Cheerleading Essay

  • 1. High School And All Star Cheerleading Essay Not all cheerleaders are created equal, they do not perform the same or work as hard. Any All–Star cheerleader will tell you that high school cheerleading is not nearly as hard as All–Star Cheerleading, but why is that? Cheerleading is a mix of chanting, dancing, tumbling, and stunting. Each level of cheerleading has its limits and regulations. To understand why exactly All–Star girls believe they put in so much more work, one must look into the differences between their coaching, training, limits, and requirements to see who really is on the top of the pyramid when it comes to cheerleading. I have done both high school and All–Star cheerleading. I know first hand how each practice goes, and I have gone through the competitions, training, games, and practices. The first big difference between the two levels of cheerleading is the practice and training. At a high school cheerleading practice, every practice is usually the same. The practice starts out with the everyone circling up and stretching and laughing, it's not taken very serious. After we stretch, we would usually train for twenty minutes. Training involved seeing how many push ups, sit ups, and jumping jacks we could do in a minute. Then, we would run a single lap around the football field, but most of the cheerleaders would walk. After training was over we most likely would practice cheers and chants for thirty minutes, dances for thirty minutes, and then stunt if we were lucky. We rarely stunted for the simple ... • 2. Stunting: The Four Types Of A Flyer Let's start with stunting, which by definition is when a base or group of bases lift or toss a flyer overhead to perform tricks in the air (Cheer Book). Stunting can be divided into three different categories based on what the flyer it doing in the air. Pyramids, group stunts, and tosses all have the same basic components to get the flyer up. There are four different positions in a group, the flyer who is the girl being lifted or tossed into the air, the backspot who stands directly behind the flyer and supports her ankles and butt, the main base who stands to the flyer's right and supports the ball and heel of the flyer's foot, and finally the side base who stands to the left of the flyer and, depending on the stunt, basically supports the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now that you all know the basics of a stunt we can talk about the three types that a squad is judged on. A group stunt is when the flyers in each group are only standing on one leg, and the other leg is being pulled behind their back or in front of them. The judge's score this stunt bases on timing, flexibility, difficultly and technique. A toss stunt is what cheerleader's call a basket, and this is when the bases make a lactic with their hands and the flyer steps on the top of their hands one foot at a time. Once the flyer's feet are off the ground, the bases full extend their arms up and the flyer is tosses in to the air where she can do many different tricks before she comes back down, and is caught by the bases. Judges can score this on height, difficultly, and technique. As for the pyramid stunt, this is at least five stunt groups that stand back to back with each other. During this stunt flyers can do an array of things from flipping backwards, to switching feet in the air, to flying to a completely different stunt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reflection Paper On Concussions "Hey Mom, it's Sam. Can you come get me from school? I got another concussion," I told my mother when I called her. I was sitting in the athletic training room trying to remember what just happened. When I called my mom all she could do was laugh, she laughed like what I had just told her was a joke. She contained herself, then I asked her to talk to the athletic trainer which she soon realized I was serious and not kidding. I joke a lot, so imagine her reaction to me telling her I got a concussion at my first day back in cheer from a concussion the month before. Never did we imagine how it would all pan out the way it did. I was sitting in the frigid athletic training room, my feet dangling off the bench waiting for the athletic trainer to sign some papers. These papers were my key to my return to cheer. I was not allowed back until these papers were signed clearing me. I was excited, nervous, happy and relieved that soon I would be back on a blue mat alongside my teammates and best friends. It just happened to be that next time there would be cheer, would be the day of our tryouts. Finally, after what felt like hours the athletic trainer signed my papers and said "you're all set for cheer tomorrow", I was beyond excited. Tomorrow was the day I go back to doing what I love. The day finally came, the day I had been waiting for since I had gotten my first concussion. I finally returned to cheer. I was nervous and anxious, but more than anything else I was excited and ... • 4. Personal Narrative: Coach Ridenhour As A Jumper It was the summer before 9th grade. I wanted to tryout for the school cheer team. I had been going to the summer workouts and clinics where we were learning the material needed to make the team. Each day as it got closer to tryouts we were working on harder skills and perfecting those. I had planned on being a base and trying out as a base. One day Coach Ridenhour, the coach for the VJ cheer squad, asked if anyone wanted to try to be a flyer. I thought it might be fun to try, so I said that I would be interested. She put me in a stunt as a flyer, I was a little nervous because I had never done it before. As I was going up my heart started pounding in my chest, my fists clenched up, so many thoughts were going through my brain all at once. I thought I was going to fall, but before I knew it I was up and stable in the stunt! I could not believe I had got up there and did not fall. We tried it a few more times and each time I hit the stunt.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was glad I said yes, but she was also a little upset. "I love you as a flyer, but I also love you as a base!" she exclaimed. I laughed and said, "I can do either one whenever you want me to." She put me in a group with Finley as my secondary base, McKayla as my main base and Chloe as my back spot. We tried all the stunts we had to tryout with. We struggled a little at first because we had never worked together before. Once we got used to being together, we hit all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What I Did A Stunt On It Was The Ultimate Legacy, Right? When I asked for questions from the Hallmark fans, she was the only one who came to me with a question. I can hardly believe that anyone had a question for me. {laughs} I knew it was a long shot to ask for questions since you 're a supporting cast member, but I am so glad she stepped up and asked because she is such a huge fan of all the Chicago shows. That 's so awesome and just so flattering. It was a killer experience, and I learned a ton on set. It was the first show I ever did a stunt on. It was a minor one, but it was totally a different world. Your first Hallmark thing was The Ultimate Legacy, right? Yes, that was the first film I did for them. We had watched the first two, and my mom is a big fan of the franchise. And of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oh yeah, they had a bunch of announcements that came out last month. They 're doing like ninety films this year. But according to all the statistics, I was amazed to see that they had grown by like thirty percent last year when other networks were losing viewers. It used to not be cool to admit that you watch Hallmark, but now it 's becoming acceptable. Yeah, it 's a thing. And what 's neat about the ones that you have been in is that they are on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel which means they are not the simple romantic comedies. They have a bit more drama to them. Yes, I think you might say they 're more plot–driven. Yes, very much. Now JL Ranch––that had to be an experience.
  • 6. That was amazing! That was a bucket list for me, you know? That was super cool. To get to work withJon Voight––that was amazing. I mean Jon Voight! {laughs} All I could think of was the episode of Seinfeld about Jon Voight 's pencil where George buys a used car because the previous owner was named Jon Voight, and there was a pencil in it with tooth marks, and he carries it around telling everyone that it 's Jon Voight 's pencil. And it ends up being Jon Voight, the dentist. That 's all I could think about every time I saw him. I 've just got to get a pencil! {laughs} I didn 't do it though. He was awesome. He was such a kind and giving actor. People wanted to talk to him all the time. So to pull him away and go, "Hey, Jon Voight, can we run these lines a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Youtube Made Me Do It Analysis Now more than ever, kids are taking dangerous risks for their short 15 minutes of fame on the internet, but it isn't the social media's fault. Some may say that it is social media's fault because it's letting kids hurt themselves for a chance at fame and isn't stopping it. But that just isn't the case. It's our fault for liking, watching, and sharing the videos and skyrocketing them to popularity. It's also the same thing as watching people perform dangerous stunts on TV, giving people fame for doing dangerous and sometimes stupid things. It is clearly our own fault that kids are harming themselves not social media's. We are the ones who are watching, liking and sharing these videos of kids harming themselves. It is our own fault because we are the ones who give them attention and make them famous. People make their livings off of sites like Youtube, many, many young people want to be rich and famous. Doing things like stupid stunts on social media can make this happen, but only if we actually give them the attention they want. To quote child psychologist Alan Hilfer in the article, "Youtube Made Me Do it" by Mackenzie Carro, "Teens will do anything wild and crazy to bring attention to themselves–even if its potentially dangerous. Posting stunt videos... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example Evel Knievel performed many dangerous stunts that were televised over the years. People have always enjoyed watching people taking those risks, and didn't have a problem with it then, so why should they have a problem with it now? People enjoyed dangerous stunts on TV, and now they enjoy them on smartphones and computers. To quote the article, "In the 1960's and '70s, the legendary Evel Knievel earned fame for his death defying stunts. Today, videos of people attempting dangerous stunts can garner thousands of views on YouTube." Watching dangerous stunts back then and now are basically the same thing, it's just on different ... Every year the cheer team practices all summer so that they can compete in the World Championship. The World Championship is held in Maui, Hawaii this year. The cheer team has three stunt groups. In one of the stunt groups is Reece, the flyer, Maggie, the back spot, Mauri and Carci, the bases. They have competed together for almost 10 years. The age group they compete in is 12–14 year olds. The team practices every day, except Sunday, for at least 4 hours a night. The girls are getting really excited for the championship which is coming up quickly. The day arrives for competition at the World Championship. The cheer team has on their uniforms, makeup, and their hair up in pony tails. They are ready to compete. Maggie seems really nervous. Mauri pushed Reece's foot up before Carci did and that made the stunt fall apart. The girls ended up dropping Reece in the second stunt. When Reece fell to the floor she tried to break her fall by using her hand. Mauri, Carci, and Maggie couldn't catch Reece before she hit the ground. • 11. Personal Narrative: Joining The Regional Competition Everyone tells us that we have to win regionals. The stress was overpowering. I know Elle wants to win. Her team, the Broncos, have won three years in a row. How could they not win? This year, there were rumors about the Patriots finally joining the competition. They were banned from regionals because they won eight years in a row. The judges forbid the Patriots from coming back because it did not seem fair for them to continue to win. Up until now. Today is a mandatory practice. The regional competition is in three weeks. Elle is rushing out of the door to her mom's car. She doesn't have time to tie my laces. She cries from the excruciating pain. The coach runs over to her. She cries harder and harder. All of this is my fault. Why are my laces so long? I wish I could cry with her. I hate it when she falls from a stunt. "I think you've sprained your wrist," the coach informs. "It'll heal in about a week in half, maybe two weeks." "But...then regionals will be in a week. I might have a mental block again. I can't..." She cries harder. Without her, there's no way we can win regionals, I think to myself. Elle is one of our best flyers. She can't get another mental block. For the rest of practice, Elle sits out and watches her team. She desires to go home. Outside, the rain pours down onto the concrete. The splashes of the rain calms her down, but she grows more depressed. Her mom's car is out in the distance, and she slowly paces to the passenger seat. The car ride home is dead silent. Elle stares outside the window with a blank expression on her face. She replays the moment of her falling in her mind over and over again. When Elle gets home, she trudges to her room. • 12. Cheerleading: A Dangerous Sport Cheerleading is a very dangerous sport. If the body is not well–conditioned, the athlete can severely injure themselves. Cheerleaders represent the teams they cheer for, which in most cases are football and basketball. Cheerleaders are not just about being "beautiful" or "popular," but are more often known for being role models. With concussions being extremely high risk in cheerleading, it's important for cheerleaders to be dedicated, and have proper strength and knowledge to make them successful in cheerleading. For the bases, when they toss the flyer with their backs or just their arms instead of their legs more than likely the bases will injure their backs. For the flyer, it is extremely important for them to stay stiff while being tossed into the air. If the flyer goes up wobbly this will cause the bases to lose balance and the stunt will eventually fall. During stunts it is almost given that you will get punched or kicked in the face. Additionally, when I coached I strongly recommended everyone to use proper counts and any extra spots that were available. Spots are used during stunts to help the bases and flyers from falling and hitting the ground. Concussions are a high risk in cheerleading. Flyers can be overly tossed in a stunt during a routine. Which is why the usage of mats being in gyms are mandatory if stunts are being performed. Though the mats won't prevent injuries, they will help the severity of an injury that may ... • 15. Concussions In High School Cheerleaders Every day high school cheerleaders are being thrown in the face of danger on the sidelines under the Friday night lights. But at what cost? The sideline heroes experience the same head traumas and lifelong disabilities as those who are playing on the gridiron. The recent skyrocketing trend of cheerleading head injuries is alarming and leads into the discussion question that every athletic director in every school in America should be asking, how can we protect our athletes. High school cheerleaders should have access to high–quality equipment. Aconcussion is commonly known as a traumatic brain injury or the moving of the brain inside the skull. The injury usually occurs from an athlete hitting their head on a surface or falling causing a jerking motion enough to move the brain inside the cranium. Woman finally started cheer in 1923, they dominated the sport during world war II due to men having to leave to fight in the war. Now cheer is a sport that allows both men and woman. Stunts are defined as building performances displaying a person's skill or dexterity. Stunting in cheerleading has been previously referred to as building pyramids. Stunts range from basic two–legged stunts, to one–legged extended stunts, and high flying basket tosses. Depending on what level you're on will do different stunts. Starting on a mini team the most common stunts will be knee stands or thigh stands, a knee stand is when two bases go down on one knee and the flyer will stand on the bases thigh area and the back spot will be there holding the waist making sure the flyer does not fall, the thigh stand is very similar except instead of the bases being on there knees they will be in a lunge and the flyer will stand on the bases thigh area and again the back spot will hold the waist.... People that do not cheer do not get a true perspective of how competitive the sport truly is. Cheerleading does not get the recognition that the sport deserves. Cheerleading exceeds all requirements due to competitive nature, physical activity, branches of the olympics, rules that are required, advanced skills, and determination. There are a multitude of risks and factors that one must consider before becoming a cheerleader. For instance, cheerleading requires a high level of physical exertion and injuries can happen at anytime. This is what gives cheerleading its reputation as a competitive activity – one that rivals already recognized sports such as basketball and football in competitiveness. Every person that is trying to become a cheerleader must be serious, and be dedicated. Usually people who are not familiar with cheer think it's effortless to do a two minute and thirty second routine but in reality it's a lot more. In cheerleading, the routine almost always consists of tumbling, dance, and stunts. The first part of cheer that takes time, patience, and energy is tumbling. The tumbling section is divided into two parts standing and running tumbling. Tumbling is a hit or miss because you can have really good days or really bad days, but getting lots of practice in can affect your practices. Not only can you have crummy days, but tumbling takes time to get and isn't always easy to get. • 32. A Comparison Of The Fast And The Furious Although Hollywood is not a stranger to a movie being used as a stencil or a cookie cutter to generate other. If the plot was dissected of the award–winning movie, The Fast and the Furious, one could see an exact story line to another award–winning cult classic, Point Break. With the 10 years in between the production of both movies, it has become very easy for some and especially the newest generation of movie watcher to completely miss the shocking similarities and brilliance of these two movies. The unforgettable excellence of these two classics is unmistakable, but The Fast and the Furious walks away with victory thanks to their modifications of the plot, the fantastic cast, and exceptional stunt scenes. Although both movies are great in their own way, The Fast and the Furious took the similar plot, built a franchise, and ran with it for the last 16 years. Both plots are very similar, but with very minor modifications. The Fast and the Furious is dubbed the Point Break with cars (Roe). • 34. Personal Essay : The Lessons From Pushing Yourself The Lessons from Pushing Yourself Covered in sweat and feeling overwhelmed, I meandered out of the stuffy gym. Down the stairs and out the doors I went to find my cheer team. I had just finished practicing with Varsity even though I had, disappointingly, made the JV team earlier in the season. When Sydney had hurt her shoulder just two weeks before the homecoming assembly, my instructor had an offer for me to perform in place of Sydney. Esteemed and at the same time terrified I accepted the offer. As an ignorant freshman who had never performed in front of anybody before, I would have to perform in front of my entire student body in just two weeks. With eager eyes, I asked my coach if I would have to practice with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had picked up on all the cue's in the music that triggered me to walk to a certain spot or execute a certain motion. Now all there was left to do was hitting these stunts. I had gotten frustrated to the point of tears and walked out of the gym. My sister, who at the time was on the varsity cheer team, came after me. Why the most sympathy she had ever shown me, she told me I would be able to do it. She had said she had never been so proud of me and that if anybody deserved to be recognized at this assembly, it was me. My sister told me that she could have never pulled off what I was in the process of doing. At that moment in time, I knew I had to get back in the gym and give it every inch of effort I had left. After the second week of four and a half hour practices, late nights, and a lot of tears it was the Friday of the assembly. I ambled up to my coach with shaking hands and the feeling of malady. She looked at me with quite concern asking if I would be alright. I disclosed to her, with tears filling my eyes, that I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it. I asked if she would be upset with me if I messed up and she replied with the utmost appreciation and said even if something goes wrong, she had never seen a more dedicated athlete in her life. I wiped the tears away, stood tall and walked to my place in the gym. We rolled out our mats, took our places ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Stereotypes Affecting The Position Of Cheerleading We all have our different types of disappointments in life., whether it is over a sport or even something that you did wrong. Yes, mine was little but it caused a big problem because if I could not nail it then it affected my pod, and if my pod cannot do it then it affects our routine, which affects what we place in after competing. In cheerleading we do stunts and there is 4 different positions in a stunt, flyer, base, backspot, and occasionally a front spot. When I was still competing in cheer I was in the position of flying and in order to fly you need to have lots of balance and flexibility is a huge advantage as well. It can get very tricky standing on one leg with your leg pulled up higher than your head and being almost 10 feet off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay On Strike Do you every get star struck? If yes with who? I did get sratr strucked onece, I was hosting on a red carpet on a film that was coming out that had Leonardo DiCaprio in it and Leo was coming the carpet and I got to interview him and I was blown away. He just has this light arounfd him that is so special and that pretty much the only time that really ever happened, because I've worked with Byonce, Jennifer lopex, Ive worked with a lot of top starsand I just trat them like the humanbeigns that they are and I don't get start struck for them, but for some reason Leonardo dicraprio that was just a difrfrent story all together. And of course I held it togerther but ai had just a big smile in my heart that I know was star struck at that point. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the stunts that they are asking me to do are the stunts they know I can handle. So I have yet to question any stunts so anything that I can do those coordinators know that I can do. So this weekend I'm actrually doing in higfall traing. I will jumping off of big mats. So I haven't question any of them yet, but that's an excellent excellent question. What has been the worse injury you've received while working? Most fun stunt you've experienced? I have never hurt myself during stunts thank goodness and I say that knowing that there is always a possibility getting hurt. So I say that and am grateful not being hurt during a stunt. The worse I got was someone stabbed me in the eye with a wooden sword and I have a little dot by my eye, so that's the worse I've ever gotten. The most fun stunt was when I got to fight on Blind spot fighting with Rhonda Rhosy, that was prison fight was really cool and I'm hoping to get more work with them. If I ever needed to, how would I jump off a building to escape? You don't unless you really really had to, it takes proper training. You can fall on your head or really injur yourself. So don't do that mama. What I suggest is for emergencies is to get one of those protable laddrs that are inexpesvier and you can use it to climb out of a two story window. Are you working on any new projects that we should look out for? Yes I am I'm working on two scenes right now but they wont be out for a little while. One is

For example people have been doing dangerous things all the way back to the roman times. Others think that it's the persons fault because they are doing the harmful things to themselves. Like doing the tide Pod Challenge, eating a Tide Pod could kill you or do harmful things to your body, but its still not Social Media's fault. But Teens have been doing risky stuff for a long time. • 40. The Physics behind Daredevil Motorcycle Jumpers Essay The Physics behind Daredevil Motorcycle Jumpers For a span of about 20 years only a few people were brave enough to be motorcycle stuntmen. Performing death defying jumps were and still are looked upon as a "crazy" action. It takes much practice, natural skill, and planning for a stuntman to perform a successful jump. Of course practice is dictated by ones determination, skill is acquired with the combination of practice and good genes. And the planning has to do with physics. Sure one could just "grip it and rip it" go balls out and just jump, but the safe way to do it deals with careful planning, which directly relates to physics topics. So the question is, how do motorcycle jumpers such as Evil Knievel plan out their jumps and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are the two most crucial equations because now the jumper knows the angle of the ramp, the distance he needs to launch over, and the speed he needs to reach in order to clear the gap. He also knows how high he can expect himself launch, that way there are no surprises. The calculations are very important to the success of a motorcycle jump, but physics also play a role in the development of improvements. With better technology comes new improvements; better motorcycles, ramps, and protective gear. Motorcycles will be built with more power, acceleration, and speed. They will be lighter and easier to handle. Bike shocks will be built stronger to resist the impact of the landing and safer protective aprons will be designed to prevent death or serious injury (crash padding). Daredevils will be able to launch further and higher than ever before because the technology of their day will allow them to do so. Although these improvements will help advance the sport of motorcycle jumping, there are still many factors involved. Safety is the most important thing, so riders still need to check all aspects of the jump. An important factor is the ramp itself; is the angle of trajectory right? If it is too high the rider will go to high and fall short of the landing. If the angle is too low, the rider will fall short of the landing. The ramp must have traction for the wheels of the bike to grab hold of and it must be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Controversy Of Censorship In The United States Have you ever heard the word, censorship? If not, this is what it means. Censorship is the practice of officially examining books, movies, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts. That is what people are trying to do to videos of stunts on YouTube, and they shouldn't. Youtube is in no way responsible for what goes on in it's viewers' lives. It is the job of parents to watch their kids and actually parent them. Youtube only has a censorship code for videos that encourage illegal or dangerous activities. If it were Youtube's job to entertain millions of people but to also make sure that there is an age appropriate audience, it would not end well. In the US, there is a law called the freedom of speech. It is our first ever real law. Freedom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
